Good Morning All:

I took today off of work to go to the doctors for my post-surgery exam this morning.  This afternoon I need to cut the grass and build the table legs for that 4x8 layout.  Maybe I’ll have time to paint the bench work for the layout tonight.  Jimmy dropped off a Walther’s Northern Light and Power kit that needs assembled and I need to get to work on a scrap yard.  The rest of the layout will be left alone so “Grandpa and Grandson” can add buildings.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf please.

Vincent, If they are able to repair the old drive (In an eSATA case) I will end up with just the iMac having 6 Tb of HD space hooked up to it.....  I have another 1Tb HD that is dedicated to use with the laptop from back when I used to DJ...  It holds 8,000+ full res. AIFF files of tunes to play!  And, I never seemed to have thee one someone would come up and beg me to play.  I'm hoping THAT one lasts until after the 50th. reunion of my high school class.  Guess who is providing the music?

Got my name in the local paper tonight... Nope not Police Beat!  GrumpyLaugh  It was the notice for the City Planning Board meeting to hear public comments on the Solar installation at my house.  Other than the ladies with the tin foil hats, probably won't be anyone there except the Board Members, myself, and the installer.....  At least things are staring to move with it and I know all the paperwork is correct for the city.

Did some improvements on an old trestle bridge found along the ROW in the area I am rebuilding.  I am adding more braces to the structure in an attempt to make it look a bit more believable......

Guess it is time to turn in for the night.  Prayers for all in need!

Evening guys

I went with my father to Pensacola today. I had planed to stop at a hobby shop over there, but the car we took (my brother's '94 Mustang Cobra) had an issue. It was overheating, badly. The engine temperature guage was pegged, so we got out and checked. When I said badly, I mean badly; as in the resevior cap had gotten popped open and boiling coolant was pouring out of the top of it. I don't know how the resevior got so overheated. The culprit was the fan wasn't coming on (it comes on when the engine coolant temperature hits 190) and some computer data has shown it was approaching 270. It' okay when driven at interstate speeds, but overheats like bad when sitting in traffic.

So we took that home using I-10. Ate dinner, then hopped into my mother's car-truck-thing (2010 Edge) and went to navarre to pick-up a chin spoiler for my car. I got it for $60 brand new, the cheapest I could ever find it was for $120. Then on the way back I picked up 2 quarts of 75W90 gear oil, 5 quarts 10W30 motor oil, and a wix filter for my car (a '94 Mustang GT; that thinks it's a Cobra). My oil level in my car is kinda low again, but it's about time to change the oil anyways. Guess the "low oil" light works for "change oil" in the mean time. The gear oil is for when I pull the axles out to upgrade my brakes. I have to put in a new bracket that goes behind the spindle, and to do that I have to take the axles out. The new rear brake discs are about as big as my current front ones. The new front ones pretty much require a 17" wheel.

No train progress in my busy day today, but will have some tomorrow after changing my oil and mowing the lawn (if it doensn't rain)

Ray, I have 2 portable hard drives for that reason. 1 is a 2 Tb, the other is just the hard drive from a laptop that hit the floor wired to a USB cable.

Sawyer, looks good.

Sam, Looks like you are about 175 miles north west of me (looking at Jeff's map and using that distance as a scale) I'm about 60 miles south and west of Alabama in north west florida.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Today's been one storm after another with a peppering of power outages in between. Had lunch at my parents place today. Pork chops, home fries, green beans. Then I went to a Parish Police Jury meeting with my father to hear about what they'll be doing with taxes and he could speak his piece about them and also lodge a complaint about why the road out here hasn't been improved when the others around us have. There weren't many area residents there so his words didn't carry the weight he had hoped they would. It was more like a whisper on the wind. We came back home, gathered the family and enjoyed a watermelon. This is the first chance I've had to get back online today for more than a few minutes. The power was acting crazy much of the day.

WEll,well,

we went and got our license it is for a renewal of vows on Thursday, which is our 10th year anniversary,so the form is checked for renewal of vows. We have a friend who can perform the ceremony, but we also want him in attendance..he will be last resort to perform. Although, he has a NICE "COuntry Manor House" Federal Style Mansion on 3 lovely acres with a complete barn and pergola'd garden platform. SO maybe we WILL have him do it. ANyway we will be busy THursday.

What else, I got scheduled for Wed for injections in my back {hope I can walk on Thursday}.

Next week we have decided to got to Essex COnnecticut for Steam train/steam boat ride. THat will be our little vacation/get-away. We are taking the train nut friend.

Tired and my back is killing me, early night, but don't be surprised if I sleep in!

Afternoon folks!

Flo, a nice glass of lemonade would hit the spot right now...  Thank You!

Sawyer, good going on the project!

I took the errant hard drive to the Mac shop this afternoon.  The lady that owns the store thinks the drive and the info may be recoverable after I described the symptoms.  I told her it has been flaky ever since I got it back in service in the new case.....  In fact I told her after removing it from the old G5 Mac the old puter ran fairly stable......  We both said "Ahha" at the same time.  The problem with the old G5 may have been the Western Digital HD that was the second drive in it.  It very well could be as simple as a corrupted tree on it.  I would have run Disk Warrior last night, except my old copy is way to old to run on the iMac w/ Lion.  I am buying a new 2 Tb extra drive and they will load all the data from the old drive to it if they can correct the problem.  Like a dummy I haven't used "Time Machine" on the iMac to back up that disk....  I will from now on.

Anyway, keeping my fingers and toes crossed I don't lose ten years of data....  Some is backed up on DVDs but not the last couple years I know.

Did a bit of wiring and testing for continuity on the Lower Staging this afternoon.  Only had to switch 2 wires to have it be perfect (DDC polarity to the frog at the turnout.  Wired everything else up correctly the first time.  Lucky I was able to print out the diagram of it before the HD quit!

Later!

good looking dio Sawyer.

Still warm and dry out with very little rain predicted for us. You would think living in S.Ontario that getting rain wouldn't really be a problem but it has been this year. We were supposed to get some showers today but its looking highly unlikely at this moment. Went out for breakfast today and swung byt the hobby shop to pick up two gondolas with loads.

Afternoon all, been a little busy over the past week, and tired...I'm also taking this summer to recharge my batteries. I did go by Lowes and picked up what I need to put the foam and track on the modules, and also to build some legs for them.

I also have been working on the diorama, and have the scenery done up to the overpass. Here's a few pics from today

Also touched a few up...I NEED TO BUILD THE BRIDGE!!!

Hello everyone, on my kato sd40-2 the headlights and ditch lights are very yellow. Does anyone know how to change this/has one of these locomotives? It is mid production, and my first kato. I do not want to chop up the board either. Also, on kadee's web site it says to use their number 23 and 28 couplers for this locomotive. Could I use the 153 and 158 scale head wisker couplers? Sorry for all the Questions.

Afternoon everybody,

As usual, it's been a busy Monday for us. Up early and off to our local diner for breakfast, them grocery shopping. After putting the groceries away, it was off to the drug store, the bank, the library and finally went a picked up the wifes new foot/ankle brace which was custom made for her. After fitting, it became apparent that she needed to get new shoes as well. As the brace, leather exterior with laces up the front, keeps everything in the ankle from floating around, she feels more confident walking and on steps. She says the biggest improvement however is getting in and out of the car.

We went and had lunch after that. Once home, it was time for me to start doing some laundry. Also put the sprinklers on the front yard for an hour.

Got a 3 bay 70 ton offset hopper which I had ordered a short time ago in the mail today. It's for the Union Railroad here in Pittsburgh. Fits in to my collection very nicely. A fellow had it custom run by Bowser and it looks pretty good.

Well, can anyone spell "nap?" Because I think that is coming up on my daily calendar pretty soon. Everyone take care and have a good one.   Tom

Well,

the prayer candle is lit. Angel

It is lit as I am waiting a call form the Dr. to see if I can get in to get more injections this week, or if I must wait.

WE are going to attempt to on vacation to either Essex Conn. or Arcade, NY to ride steam trains. If we go to Essex, we can also hitch a ride on a steam boat to boot! If I don;t have the injections, THe standing/walking will be hard on me! SO I called to see if I va get in this week.

THAT< and the FIl called, seems the town is coming to verify his property lines adn need MOH to sit with MIL. Seems the neighbor up the hill's property is falling/encroaching on FIL's, so he wants the neighbor to put in a new retaining wall or something. The fench is also falling that is FILs duet o land slide. At least I THINK that is what the property survey is for. SO untill MOH is done with that, we are stalled on opur errands today.

GOt to go to the Town clerk ourselves for some papers for ourselves. GOt to go get bug spray at Lowes, maybe go to Sam's club and hmm, I forgot already! {old timers disease}.

well, jsut thought I'd let everyone know that the prayer candle is lit! {it will be taken down when we go out, but will be relit when we return!

Mornin' everyone.....

Zoe just bowl of pumpkin seed Flax Granola with fresh blueberries and a few cups of dark roast coffee this morning.

Last night was not a good night for me!  I had just updated a In Design file and printed it out and tried to save the file.  Kept coming up with an error.  Tried to delete the old file and just replace with the update....  No go!  Then the stand alone 1Tb HD disappeared form the desktop.  This is the old second hard drive from my old G5 that was rescued a few months ago.  I tried to get it to mount several times and several different ways.  Nope. System report says it is there.  Then Tried Disk Utilities....  Says it cant be repaired!  Node tree problem it says.  The drive has been flacky ever since I was put in tyhe new case, and I have been going to get another drive and back it all up, but didn't!!! AngryGrumpy

So I will be on my way to the computer store shortly to see if they can resurrect it for me.  May be a case problem or I may have to pay out major $$$ to get the data from it......  I haven't backed it up in over a year so all my new photos, PDFs, In Design files, and much more will be gone.....  We shall see what we shall see.

Hope you folks are having a better day than me!

Later!

Good morning. It's 73° and cloudy. The high will be 90° with a heat index of 100°. There's a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain possible.

Maybe today I can do the cleanup work on the layout that I didn't do yesterday. I don't have anything planned for today.

Good morning, Diners.  The operations session  yesterday was great.  Such a fun puzzle.

Mark,  Glad to see you still planning and dreaming trains.  It does help our creative side.

Rob,  We can't catch up  with the fence post detail.  We did drop a tree for  fire wood.  Make hay while the sun shines.

I had better get ready for work.

Hey just thought of something. If I were to claim Mexican based on my GGGrandfathers country of birth (technically) would that make me Latino? Hmm

According to some geneologists it just might...although through 4-5 corners....Confused

As to the neighbourhood...what can I say...when you are up by where both the CN and CP lines have to come through the ridge to get into London from the west side...we do seem to find a lot of mrrs around here..MischiefLaugh
