Gidday All, just a quiet Saturday night in front of the fire, currently 34 F and a crisp clear starlight sky.

Happy birthday to Jeffery & Sakei Samuel. 14 eh! wish I could remember that far back, if I where to offer any advise to a young bloke, it would be "Carpe Diem"  popularly translated from latin as "Sieze the Day". the only provisos being that its legal and that your parents approve.

Have A Great One Guys Cake and non-alcoholic Drinks  Big Smile

Thoughts and Best Wishes to those who need them.

Jeff and Sam!

Good Morning!

Woke up early, just to see - nothing. A thick layer of fog covered everything. Visibility was below 10 yards! It´s cleared up by now.

Curt - no, these will be new modules, though the "track plan" may look familiar. ...

Have a good day, folks!

Good Evening Modelers...

Can you say MONSOON RAIN!!!!!!!

The High Pressure system that has sat over Colorado for so long causing historical record heat has given way and RAIL is falling in abundance here tonight.

With that, Flash Flood warnings are out all over the place including in the fire zones.  Up at the fire zone near Ft Collins, mudslides are occurring and Highway 14 causing a new round of evacuations.  These poor folks can get a break even with the rain now...

Evenin' folks!

Janie a tall glass of iced tea, unsweetened, would be good....  Still 75°F outside and humid, so no hot drinks for me tonight.

I spent some time resurrecting the wiring diagram from the old staging area.  Wiring will be the same so I just have to follow the directions I did when I used it as part of the NMRA Electrical Engineer AP certificate.  I have been soldering spade lugs onto wires (I am reusing as much wiring from the old area as  can so often I just have to shorten a wire a bit and solder a new spade lug on the end).  Nice and cool down in the train rooms tonight.

Jeffrey, turning 29 again?!?  OK, a little early but hear goes....  Ahem....

There, got THAT over with.....  Happy Birthday Jeff and many more!

Huh?  What did the new guy, Harry, say???  I have no idea......?  He mumbles a lot.... Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Barry, I probably wouldn't recognize you any more...  I found THAT photo I took of you taking a photo of me the other day......... Big Smile  I may be back up in your neck of the woods next Spring for a convention.

I guess it is time to head out to Zzz....

Prayers for all in need!

Evening guys

Weather went from thunderstorms early to sunny later in the day. Still no idea for the weather on sunday.

Been doing more stripping of the various Fs for my F-unit project. The amtrak ones is almost done, save for little bits of silver, red, and black stuck in the grilles, headlight holes, etcs. I decided to give a few oth the other ones a second go-over as there were bits I missed when scrubbing. I'm seriously considering getting some Scalecoat or Polyscale paint stripper...

I got some new #80 drill bits in the mail today. I drilled 2 and a half stewart F-units and only broke one, so I have 29 left (unlike the carbide ones which cost me 45 of them to get 1.5 done) I thought the one that broke was stuck in the shell but it somehow wound up vanishing. That's better than getting stuck. Still got a few more to go, then to order the pile of parts. Guess I should start saving.

Jeff, Happy early birthday

Ken, I still have no plans for the P1K Chassis I have. A guy at the MR club has a P2K F7 that's motor may be bad, and we looked and it appears the P1K F3 has the same motor. So that may take one, or both.

J R, Good to see progress on the layout. Being a newer Diner, I never knew about the old layout.

Garry, I don't really think the farmers in my area have much to worry about. It's mostly cotton, peanuts, and livestock around here.

Barry, Good luck with the recovery. Will be trying to keep the weight off, or do you think it'll come back?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Ken: Follow the doctors orders. Stay away from the tobacco and beer. I can show you first hand (or is that first foot) evidence of what will happen if you don't.

Calling it a night early. Had some storms come through today and as a result there are one or more locations where power connections are having fits. Not bad enough to go completely out but not good enough to keep the lights on steady. It's my birthday tomorrow and I have no idea what may be going on if anything. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening All,

Not much to report on here. It's raining on and off here now. I may go to the club tomorrow, but I haven't decided yet. Went to the LHS and had a nice hour conversation with Jon.

JR- That's going to be a awesome layoutYes.

Barry- I continue to say prayers for your recovery.

Ken- I'm glad you can be at home and take care of yourself and I also say prayers for your recovery.

Ulrich- That's going to be a very nice modular layout. Don't you have most of  them already built?

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, I'll have a tall glass of Lemonade and join Ken in the front booth....  Good on Ya Ken!  Lemonade will also do a better job of cooling you off....

I got a few things done today, but mostly sat here and waited on people and things.....  The guy from the Code Enforcement Office called and needed me to sign the Environment Impact Statement for the Planning board to approve the Solar Project.  I think it will be a positive environmental impact actually....Whistling  But the paperw*rk has to be done properly all the way down the line before it can be approved.

I had to go out anyway so I drove down to city hall and signed the paper before I headed over to the  Recyclers with a box I forgot to take with me yesterday.  I bought a few items over at the local Radidio Shack, then went grocery shopping, then stopped at the Vets to pick up food for the boys, then back home.  I did a little over half of the deck floor today.  If the thunderboomers hold off, I will get THAT project finished tomorrow.

I just got a box of Cherrypharm (Cheribundy Skinny) from the big brown truck guys, and now am headed down cellar to the train room for a while!  I deserve to be able to w*rk on the pike, so I am going down there and nobody is going to stop me!  So there! Stick out tongue

Later!

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Lemonade Pleases.

All most broke down and had a Beer, but I was a good Cuda Ken. When it is 104 Degrees it sure would have tasted GOOD!

Train Front I installed a decoder in the thought to be dead Proto 1000 F3, it lives! Big Smile Got it speed matched to a A unit and it is doing just fine! Pulling a coal drag as I type. Boy I messed up by giving up on it and the other ones!

Think the next project will be testing the Athearn RTR Dash 9 that seems to be using to much power. I bet it is the light board that is causing the problem.

 See you all later!

Evenin'

It is HOT out there...MOH did the outside errands early, but didn't yet go to get the mail as it wasn't in when MOH came home and "its too hot now" so we will wait til dusk to get it.

I have remained cool inside, though it is 75* in this computer room which doesn't have an AC in it. THe fan does pretty good at at least moving air. That is usually to warm for me, but for today it is fine.

TIme off...MOH made a request for time off for the 12th, our anniversary, and guess who got scheduled to work it? This is one more ammo to throw against the department manager. You people probably don't read or understand this part. The manager APPROVED the time off, but goes ahead and schedules MOH to work for 6.5 hours!! GRR...

Well, I have to go to attend to a few things!!

Stay cool and hydrated all you people without AC!!!

 Flo, Coffee pleases.

Just got done cleaning up a mess on the patio. Remember the glass patio set Sue bought few months ago and we got into it about? Well, it did not like the 100 + days we had and went Boom! Made quite the mess.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a Raisin Bran Muffin with lots of real butter and a cup (or 2) of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug, Please and thank you!

Checked the inside the house temp when I got up (9AM) this morning and it was already 77°F so the fan was taken out and the window shut and then I turned on the air conditioners......  A nice 74°F inside now rather than the 84°F outside.  Going up to mud 90's later with a heat index of over 100 this afternoon.  I imagine the pool and the lakefront will be popular today at camp!  First week of campers will be going home tonight.  Bet they are ready to get out of the heat!

I've been playing phone tag with City Hall this morning.  Need to find out exactly what the call yesterday was all about so I am waiting inside the house to hear back from the planning board guy (that is who the secretary said most likely called)......

I need to do a bit of grocery shopping sometime today and do the first half of the deck itself.  We are under a Heat advisory here in the Finger Lakes (heat index will be over 100°), so I will take my time with the deck and keep hydrated.

Have a great day folks!

Good morning from SunnyCal--we'll be having a high of about 90 today, then that big bubble of heat moves from the midwest to the Pacific coast, and we're expecting a week full of 100+ in a couple of days.  But it does look like there might be some relief in the midwest and east coast, at least from the weather maps.  Sure hope so for you people living back there.

Worked on the layout most of yesterday--got a lot done, at least more than I've been doing in quite a while.  Ran some trains, too.  Those new rare earth magnets I've installed in some of my older brass locos REALLY does the trick--at least in DC.

My sister came down from Nevada City for a Dr.'s appointment--thyroid--and decided to stay over.  She wanted to go see a movie.  She was feeling a little low--her thyroid treatments are taking a lot longer than she thought they would, because the surgeon doesn't feel as if she needs to have it removed.  So I told her to pick the movie and I'd treat.  Wouldn't you know it, we ended up at the theater to see "Magic Mike."  Yah, the film about male strippers, LOL!  I think I was about the only guy there, but the film is an absolute HOOT!   I don't know which was funnier, the movie or all of the women in the audience screaming and clapping.  But once you get over the fact of the subject matter, the film's really good.  And no, it's not about Gay guys, these guys do their thing in a bar that caters only to women.  It's really a lot of fun, and yes, in case you're wondering, I'm Very Straight, LOL!

Barry:  I was thinking about your Chemo, and I have a good friend who just had a kidney removed from cancer--instead of Chemo, he's on Votrient treatment (pill instead of IV) and is having much less side effects than Chemo.  Has your Dr. discussed this possibility in your case?  Evidently it's working really well with him.  Just curious.  BTW, you're in my prayers.

J.R.  That new layout is looking beautiful.  Bow

Ken:  I'm on the Nicoderm patches, and they seem to be working really well.  The only time I have 'the Urge' now is early in the morning when I have my first cup of coffee.  Unfortunately, I have to watch what I eat, because everything is starting to taste so GOOD, LOL!   With no beer (kidneys) and no ciggies, I've re-discovered Coca-Cola, and I have to really watch myself, or I'll be chugging the stuff all day.

Curt:  Yah, it always seems strange to realize that the Pennsy DID have some loco's without Belpaire fireboxes.  IIRC, their first batch of 2-10-2's didn't have Belpaire's, they were only added later with a rebuilding.

Well, I see that my red-back aquatic turtle (Churchy LaFemme) is back in the swimming pool.  Time to go take the little character back to his lily pond.  I don't know what there is in a chlorine-filled swimming pool that attracts the little guy so much.   Nothing to eat, and the lily pond is just crawling with little appetizing goodies (for a turtle at least).    Then out to the garage and work on some scenery.  It's warm and dry and the plaster will set up quickly, LOL!

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Tom

Even though I had the holiday break on Wednesday this week seems to have worn me out.  I guess it was because it was like having two Monday's in the same week at work.  Got lots of stuff to do right now so see you all on the return trip...

Howdy ...

We made the trip to Mammoth Cave yesterday, and also took grand-kids to a zip-lining place. Today, we are going to Nashville so the grand-kids can visit family there.

Every farm from here to Bowling Green, KY (over 100 miles)  has severe crop damage from the heat wave. Hopefully, they all have crop insurance. I suspect most people are not aware how risky the farming business can be.

JR .... You are doing a great job with the new layout ...... (New DIners may not be aware that J R had an extraordinary layout that sadly was lost due to a house fire a couple of years ago.)

Barry ..... Continue to pray for your helth.

Ken .... Prayers for your health, too.

Here is a photo I took about 3 years ago at KY Ry Museum. Posting for Monon Ken.

Cheers, everybody ...

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and three glazed donuts please. Thanks.

Sunny and hot, with a high near 105. Heat index values as high as 111. Currently, 78° with the humidity at 82%.

Barry- 5’7” and 235? Sounds like 150 is much better. Unfortunate reason for the loss though.

Aussie Jim- Of COURSE we missed you! It’s just we’re men and it takes us awhile to realize somethings missing. Just ask my wife after she moves something I’ve walked around for years.Laugh

Green screen. Thanks G.

J.R.- You have been busy on the old RR. With the schedules you’ve been keeping I wouldn’t have guessed you got that far. Great job!!!

Well with the heat and lack of rain I haven’t had to mow the yard in a while, but parts are getting scraggley. Probably oughta buzz the mower over it to even things out before it cools off next week. I still have a little bit of the back porch to finish staining too. Maybe get to that or wait til tomorrow since I have to w**k tonight.

Gonna say something else too, but can’t remember what it was. Oh well.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good Morning All,

65F and sunny again today. High at 90 or so and humid as usual for this time of year. Off to Pocono this afternoon which is about the same weatherwise.

Good to see everyone up and about and getting their medical issues attended to.,

One more shot from the new layout. This shows the general layout with the yard area at near left transitioning to an urban area in the middle of the U the going to a rural area on the right with raised track all the way around the walls, mostly double. I still have walls to build around the yard area and the entryway but have left them off during construction. The walls behind the left side hinge up for access to the back of the layout.

Time to get to work.   CUL, J.R.

Good morning. It's 77° and mostly cloudy. There's a slight chance of rain this morning. The high will be 95° (feel like 107°) with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Nothing scheduled for today except rest.

Barry - the shelf has to levels, so my existing layout may end up on the upper shelf, whereas the tram layout will move to the "lower" one, which is at about eye level.

There is a problem that may make your computer a worthless door stop in an airconditioned house. The FBI is aware of it. It changes Domain names/links to sites where they can skim off money on this malware program.

I am not sure If I can even post it here without getting called on the carpet.

But if you saw CNN Healine's Evening Express last night, or go there to their site now and look up Economist/ financial advior Clark Howard's link it can take you there...

You either get a green light background if OK, or a red light background if your computer is infected. I did it and found my computer is fine, but I will check again Sunday night if it will let me.

Go to DCWG.org click on "detect", then select your country's clickable link on the far left {US is on the very top} and if you get a green background you are ok, if you get red, back up to the detect page aand click on diagnostic and follow instructions to repair the damage.

Just thought you'd all like to know before your computer is messed up come MOnday!!! We wouldn't wnat to miss anybody!

This has been your public service announcement. Other opinions may vary. Limit one per person. Void where prohibited by law. Close cover before striking. DO not use on or near water. Do not use near heat or incinerate. Monetary value: $0.00.
