Hey Jeff,

You know up here, If the Pharmacists  know you, as in previous scripts etc. they will re-new a prescription for you in a small amount if it is for an ongoing (continuous use) Rx.  such as yours is, so that you have a little time to get in contact with the Saw Bones to get the actual renewal.

Give it a try, you'll never know till you try.  Just sell them on the fact that it is necessary for your well being.

Hope the storms are over for you.

Always thought those lightening stripes of the NYC were real cool.   Thumbs UpThumbs Up

sakel

what are the stars at the top of the thread?

That's what happens when you stand too long on the tracks trying to get  a straight-on pic of your favorite loco as it comes at you!!

Not really.

The stars are a rating system to rate a thread. the more stars it has, the "better" the thread!

Well I'm back online for now. We've been having storms and power outages all day with some storms being particularly nasty. I called the pharmacy a little while ago to see if my prescriptions have been updated. They haven't. I called the docs office again and again nobody ever picks up the phone. Maybe they've been closed the last few days? I have no idea what's going on there. I need those meds, especially the insulin which I'm totally out of. The effects from not having it aren't pleasant to say the least. There are other effects which I'll not go into here suffice it to say my nerve function isn't good enough to allow me to work on models or anything else that requires a steady hand. I can't even handle a camera right now so I'm not even going to attempt working with decals. Running Bear sitting on the side watching TV and hoping I don't spill my drink.

Here;s a couple of old photos to look at.

 Afternoon Dinners

Flo, Diet Dew if you would.

Lee Sorry to hear about Jasmine. Yes it is hard to bare and I know how you are feeling.

Little bit of good news today.

Got the electric bill today! It is $240.00 for last month! Why is that good news you ask? I was waiting for a $400.00 + bill with all the time the A C has been running! Remember last year when I bought the 20000 BTU window unit? Well it did it's job of lowering the electric bill! I checked what the bill was last year for June / July and it was $280.00! I know that we did not have 10+ days of 100 degree weather last year!

Getting my Settlement Next Week! Got the E Mail from the Lawyer that handle the class action yesterday and they received the checks from Mattress Giant. They are mailing them out today. Should get the check next week! It will give Sue and I some pieces of mind.

 See you all after lunch.

 Ken

Afternoon Tea in the Diner - July 2012
Posted by galaxy on Friday, July 13, 2012 1:14 PM

Afternoon

Well, I put the cold groceries away adn went for a nap. slept nearly 3 hours, my back was so bad.

MOH came home form work to having to run 5 mails out to the mailbox and bring in the non-perishables from my van. I was bushed.

Had all three phones going at once! My cell phone with constant call backs form a "restricted number', the computer phone was ringing..I am sure for "jerry" who musta had the number before us and obviously isn't paying his bills.... adn the regular land line all at once!!!  turned off the cell phone, and didn't answer the Seattle washington call, and let the answering machine get teh SALLY house begging for donations. Tehy say if htey are a chartiy they can call you legally as often as they want. Bah!

Looks like some RAIN is is order for Jeffrey in Weezy-anna, and Sakel in Mrs. Ippi.

Lee- sorry for your loss...THe prayer candle is lit for you and those in need! Angel

The friend we had do our vows renewal is now also available to do weddings. SO is MOH,,,who has never pursued it but was the officiant at said friend's son's wedding. SO now both think about doing them. OUr friend as the whole 3 acre beautious gardens, we have the trailer, but MOH has always watned a "littel chaplet of the devine" in which to hold ceremonies. SO maybe they can work somthing out.

WE will get our prime rib dinner tonight, unless we opt for the new {to us} EYE-Talian place we found...good food very reasonable prices, nice servings portions. I lost half my stomach to a surgical proceedure {NOT THE weight loosing one} but for the purpose of repairing my esophagus,so I dont always eat much, but MOH is a good judge.

Well, off we go to la la land as MOH wants a nap,a nd I think I join agian for my back.. Taht and I wastoo wired from yesterday to sleep well last night.

Howdeee Gang,

Please set me up with a large chocolate shake with a handful of blueberries thrown in. Thanks Girls..

LEE:   Our sympathies to you on the loss of Jasmine, these are such sad times for pet owners who really    care.

BARRY & ULRICH:,  you are in our thoughts and our prayers and blessings go with you in your next round of treatment.

GALAXY & YOUR OTHER HALF:  Really glad to hear you had a great day for your renewing of vows, sounds like all had a very special time.

I'm still taking some acupuncture for this left leg and knee.  It has really helped with getting rid of the pain.  Lots of stuffiness in the sinuses and allergies showing up this summer. I hate to think what harvest season will be like. Oh well, we all need our own cross, I guess.

I have been doing some more wiring on the LM&E the last couple of days as it is much cooler down there than going out to the campground and sitting in the trailer to try and survive.  Hope it cools some soon.

Well, I have a few chores to do around here today so the quicker they are out of the way I can get down to the home of the LM&E again.

Stay cool Gang,

Jeff, I never said the plow didn’t look cool.

I never said you did. I was just fitting it out of curiosity when it just clicked into place. The locos coolness factor increased by five points. That flat pilot was really starting to bug me.

Well it sounds like another thunder storm si coming through. The weather radar is showing a bunch of heavy stuff coming this way. A big yellow-red-orange mass that I want nothing to do with. Excuse me while I bug out! Bye now.

EDIT: Sorry to hear about Jasmine.

Lee - sorry to hear about Jasmine´s passing!

Good Afternoon Gang!

I have not been feeling well all day long. Monday will see a visit to the doc and most likely a trip to the hospital, with a perspective of a nasty bit of surgery coming up - old man´s disease, if you get what I mean.

I am not really talkative today.

Blessings.

Lee .... Very sorry to learn about the loss of your dog, Jasmine. I know how sad losing a pet can be.

Tom in CA ...... Thanks for your explanation of the 4-10-2. Interesting. I bet SP and UP were the only railroads with them. ..... Engine looks like a brute!

Today I'm between entertaining the grand daughters and trying to get "bugs" out of the layout. Gremoins have been busy here lately.

JimCG ..... Looking forward to demonstrating some of the gremlins when you visit the layout.

Morning Coffee at the Diner - July 12, 2012
Posted by galaxy on Friday, July 13, 2012 9:02 AM

WEll, well

I got the grocery shopping done. I didn't go Wednesday as my usual day as I went to get the spinal nerve steroid injections. We are $135.03 lighter. Because I had an extra coupon from them for $15 off $150, I could barely usit to get te $15 off by just $0.03. I think one coupons didn't scan out or else I wouldn't have been able to use it just barely.

Due to the hoarding "extreem couponers" show and those who do it "for a living" and will clear off shelves JUST to use a coupon and such, the coupons lately in the sunday papers are crap. Teh internets ones aren't much better, adn they all want you to go to FACEBOOK to get teh really really good coupons. I exercise my right NOT to be on FaceBROKE so I get penalized. GO figure..but they can glean extra demographic info on you on FAcePLACE that is why as FACEBREAKER keeps such records adn sells them THAT is why I won't do "social media". This is as close as I get.

Our stores don't allow for hoarding. They have rules of no mroe than 4 coupons for any one items per  purchase in a day.

I think nextweek I try at Aldi's and see how much cheaper they can be.

MOH will ahve to carry in the H2Os and non-perishables..My back ahs no given out.

I think time for a nap...

Tehn on to  other things. MOH asked for whites to be done, low on socks.

We didn't do dinner last night after all, we will go out tonight! Prime RIb is calling me!

Good morning, Diners.  Our 7 days in the 80's changed to the 70's, so it barely reaches 80.  How comfortable!  I got the lawn mowed yesterday so I can work on other chores today.

Tom, Thanks for the extra info on the 4-10-2.  The 34 inch radius curve looks okay, too.

Rob,  Are you using those trees for fire wood?

 Morning Folks!

 Flo. large Coffee pleases.

Have some calls to make today and might be getting rid of the dead Daytona. Found a company that will take the car with out a title. Plus we need the room in the drive way.

Going to work on the Dash 9 to see if I can get rid of the racket. Plus looks like I am going to be trying to fit a new motor in the PK 2000 SD 7. I was surprised when I opened up the engine and saw it's motor looks like a Athearn BB motor.

 See you all latter.

Jeff, I’m not sure how much use you’ll get out of that plow in Louisiana….

The L&A goes all the way to northern Arkansas, so there's always the possibility it will get used. Besides, I see plow equipped locos down here all the time and a lot of them never get out of the state.

Good morning. It's 71°, wet and load here. The high will be 81° and there's a major chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Even as I type this there's a large thunderstorm bearing down on us, so I'll be shutting down just as soon as this is posted.

No plans for today. I hope to be able to get my meds refilled today. Checked yesterday and no action had been taken by the docs office. Tried calling them and nobody ever picked up so I have to assume they were closed. I'm hoping they're open today so this can be resolved. I really need those meds.

Things are getting bad here now. Rain is falling fast and heavy and the satellite dish is blacked out. Looks like 5am out there.

Good Morning!!!

Just coffee please. Thanks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.

Lee- Prayers for your dog. Hope he gets better

Not much happened yesterday and not much gonna today. Just some odds and ends tossed in throughout the day to effectively break it up into useless chunks of free timeGrumpy. I need to have a chat with my scheduler.

Maaaaay get to spend just a few moments in the trainroom, but not counting on it. Ok. I keep saying I have had NO time to get in Toddland (of which I’m king) and we all know I’m not that  busy that I can’t just pop in there for a few minutes at a time here and there. Soooo, have I had the opportunity to get in the trainroom? Yes. Of course I have.  It’s just I have not had time to spend any good amount of time that I see as worth it to even get started, if you know what I mean. Also, I have this tendency to lose track of timeWhistling so….  I’m kinda waiting until I get a chance to be in there for a while to get things cleaned straightend and put away and then figure out where I left off and what I want to do next and then hope haven’t changed my mind on something major. Like oh I don’t know, the track plan.

Still have that Master Bath to redo as well. I was just reminded. (chuckle)

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good Morning All:

Had to take the day off to take the dog to the vet, she isn’t doing very well.  Hopefully we can get her back on her feet today.

Guys from the train club dropped off a bunch of track and stuff for the 4x8 layout, I might work on that today if the heat in the garage isn’t overwhelming.

Jeff, I’m not sure how much use you’ll get out of that plow in Louisiana….

*YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN*

Good morning, shot of "night medicine" please 'n thank-you...'ats a good girl. Drinks

CURT: You said "It amazes me the number of people I have to treat because they are in 90+ heat all day with no food or water. I guess stupid people make EMS  possible." As the factory paramedic for Amana Refrigeration (hence "AmanaMedic") I was inundated with heat exhaustion cases on 2nd shift, especially when the outside temp was in the upper 90s or low 100's. Inside the plant, the average air temp was 10-20 degrees higher, and THAT's not including the poor schmucks in the plastics dept. (melting plastic pellets to make liners and other parts). You pegged the cause. They'd go play in the sun during the day, dehydrate, come into the plant with buckets of caffiene...and drop like sacks of wet excrement. Bang HeadMy little first aid office looked like something out of M*A*S*H one particularly grueling shift with no less than 18 heat cases taking up every available inch of space. Our operation was like a Battalion Aid Station: fix 'em and get 'em back on the line if at all possible. Those who couldn't: ship 'em out, preferably to home, hospital ONLY under dire circumstances, and by ambulance ONLY if death was imminent.

Nice place.

Somedays I'm glad I was fired for standing up for my patients.

Time to finally hit the rack after a full day of creating content for THAT Editor. Facetime is in a few hours, might have a last-minute assignment waiting, might not.

Time to call it a night. While looking in the box the Dash 8-40B came in I found a snow plow. Upon close examination it appeared it would have to be glued to the front of the loco. That didn't appeal to me. I tried it on my Bachmann GP38-2 and what do you know. It snapped right on. So that's where it will be. See y'all tomorrow.

Galaxy: Happy to hear the reaffirming of the vows went well. May you have another happy ten years.

Had to do some work on the FT B unit today. The wire for the right rail pickup on the rear truck had broken loose and I had to solder it back in place. That was easier said than done. It has a cut down Stewart frame, Proto trucks, a PPW motor. It also has an Athearn F unit super weight glued to the frame (with epoxy) and that partially covers the rear truck. Add to it that the units Bachmann decoder is on the underside of the super weight that's right over the rear truck. That left just a hair over half an inch to get the needle nosed pliers holding the wire and the soldering tools tip in there and kinda be able to see what I was doing. I got it done on the first try and put the shell back on. Note for the future: When mounting an Athearn super weight onto a foreign frame don't glue it. Find some other method to secure it. I had first thought of drilling a couple of holes up through the frame into the weight and putting in screws. I ruled it out as being too much work. Oh, such short-sightedness. It's gonna be interesting if I ever have to replace the motor.
