Tall glass of cool water, please.

My brother in Hong Kong who recently had the heart surgery (stents) is now in the ER for emergency surgery for a hernia (intestines I believe). Not good at all.

Makes my hurt back seem insignificant. Not spinal, more like connective tissues of rear ribcage!?! Just squated down to do something when POW. Oh well, mandatory rest for me until it gets better. No need to pay a Doc to tell me what I already know. At least this happened at the end of a pretty good week.

Hope everyone is doing well these days.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Time for me to call it a night. I thought I had found an emergency supply of insulin. Upon check the date on it I found it had expired in 2010. No way am I using that. The lack of insulin doesn't bother me greatly. I can control the levels through diet though it makes for a fairly bland diet. The ting that bugs me most is not having the meds to control my nerve reactions. I have a hard time holding onto little things and keeping my hands steady, well as steady as I can. I don't dare work on anything electronic. One twitch and there could be an inch long line of solder across the workDead. Same thing for working on something with sharp edges. I don't use things like X-acto knives and razor saws unless I absolutely don't have a choice. I usually find a way around using them. Those worn down Dremel disks come in quite handy. I have pillows placed along the wall side of my bed so I don't kick the fire out of the wall when one of my legs twitch while I'm asleep. I kicked it so hard one time the DVD rack pulled loose of the wall and I woke up covered in DVD casesBlack Eye. That's when I started placing pillows along that side of the bed.

See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a tall glass of iced tea right now.  Thanks!  just still too dang hot here (78°F) at 10:30PM to drink anything hot.  Air conditioners are sure getting a workout!

Barry, that video (even country is getting worse these days....DeadWhistling) reminds me of the time when I was in high school when my dad one spring, when the sand lot low area had about a foot of water sitting on it, decided to take the short cut right through the middle of it with the Ford 861 Powermaster...  Now the Powermaster was a great tractor, but it had a nice heavy bucket for loading manure into the spreader and cleaning out the barn.  Anyway, he had taken something over to bury in the neighbors gravel pit right near the sand lot and didn't want to drive a hundred yards out of his way to the road, so he went through the sand lot that was a lake at the time.  Now he didn't know it was covered with that much water and he figured he could just power his way through without a problem....  Remember the Ford was only 2 wheel drive as well.

He was in 4th. gear (fifth was high) when he went into the field and very quickly started to bog down and didn't have enough torque to keep going, so he dropped it into 2nd...  By the time he made the shift he was already sinking into the quicksand that the lake had become.  The tractor ended up half buried (right up to the radiator fan) in mire....  He had to wade/swim to the higher part of the field.  He found me at the barn and said, get the Alice Chalmers and all the chains and meet me at the top of the hill in the sand lot!  Don't ask just do it!  Now the old Alice was one of those ancient, no muffler, dead letter office wrecks we would grab to use as a second tractor from Don Howard's Farm Machinery (Dad's cousin) next door.  I unhooked the Alice from the wagon, grabbed all the chains I could find and drove through the garden to the top of the hill in the sand lot.  Started to laugh my head off, which was not the right thing to do as dad was not in the mood for it!

Got all the chains laid out and hooked to the Alice.  Dad had to wade back over to the Ford which had sunk another couple of inches by that time and had to duck under water to hook the other end of the chains to the front axle.  He now looked like the "Creature from the Dark Lagoon".  He yelled "As soon as I start the tractor put the Alice in 1st. gear and pull me out.  Dad started the tractor and by now the fan was spraying muddy water all over him....  The Alice Chalmers moved a couple feet forward and just sat there spinning its tires.  I didn't mention it was equipped with baldies!  She couldn't even pull the slack out of the chain.......  I backed up and tried to find a place with a bit better grip, and then couldn't even move the Alice under it's own power at the top of the hill.  Dad shut down the Ford and waded back out to solid land...  He then went in the house and called a neighbor who had a John Deere 60 with good tires.

He came over and had a great time ribbing my father as the guy hated Fords anyway.  He decided to back the JD 60 down the hill to be nearer where our Ford was stuck (not a good idea).  He got about 50 foot from the Ford and started to sink in....  Now we had 3 tractors stuck....  And two grown men covered in sandy mud!

The John Deere 60 and the Ford remained in the sand lot for 2 weeks while the Spring Melt dried up a bit (The Alice Chalmers drove herself out with the help of a couple boards).  Finally, dad went up to Don Howard's and borrowed his Oliver OC-9 Cletrack (http://cletrac.org/media/pictures/barbour/OC-9_Crawler_Cutaway.jpg) that was the largest crawler he had.  He had me start up the John Deere 60 while he tried to pull it out with the Cletrack...  The Cletrack sat there and spun both treads for a bit.  Dad backed up a bit and I rocked the JD back and forth just enough to have a moving start next time dad rev'd up the old cletrack...  With both treads spinning and throwing mud back at me the John Deere finally emerged from the mud!  Took dad another two days to open up a path in the field with the blade on the Oliver and while I drove the Cletrack he finally was able to free up the Ford 861 Powermaster....  She got a nice bath after she got back to the barn!  He no longer used the shortcut during the Spring Melt.  I never let him forget it....Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Hope you all have a great night!

As you can see, we have all clay.....all I do is try not to get stuck, not do donuts, and how could you, you get so much traction, and on the firearms part, I have several and USE the too.But not on people(more the pity, to).

As far as firearms go I have stuff that any red-blooded redneck would be proud to have in his gun rack or hidden armory/arsenal. I don't use them on people unless their stupid enough to break into my home. As for the others, their vehicles are fair game. It's a somewhat different world out here in the sticks of Louisiana. City law doesn't reach very far into the rural areas.

Bill, is that the steamer that came out of Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis?

 Ken

No, this is an NKP 700 engine(2-8-4 #765) and the one from Indy is a 500 (2-8-2).

This one belongs to the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and the one from Indy is operated by the Indiana Transportation Museum in Noblesville IN.

Back end ,with all the extra weight, just sinks in and have to wait for a tow truck. And yes, after it rains, out come the brainless ones on their ATV,s making doughnuts. To bad it's against the law, man and GODS, to shoot them.

Prayers and Blessings,

Hey Jeff, don't you love rain? It loves our dirt( or suold I say mud) roads....

I hear it on the mud roads. Ours here used to be real bad. After a heavy rain only a 4X4 could get in or out and some of them had a hard time. Things got a lot better when the parish pressed seven inches of gravel into the roads and packed them down real good. Now after even a heavy rain it's just a thin skin of mud on top. At one time we had some kids come out on ATV's and decided they'd start spinning donuts in the road and tear it up. A few angry residents with shotguns and a visit for the police quickly nipped that in the bud. The word got out. The only ATV's out here now belong to my nephew and his friends and they know well that the roads are for passage only. Horseplay and stupidity will not be tolerated.

Evening All,

Well it's back to w**k tomorrow. It will be another longer than normal week. One more to go after  this week.

Lee- I got that car because it was from Cleveland, I figured it fit in with my layout area.

Packer- I know I have a heavy hand, but I like it and that's what matters right?Smile

Next week I'm going to try to weather my first loco. I will start with the GE 44T switcher. I figure if I mess it up no big deal.

Everyone have a good evening and  prayers for those in need.

Evening guys

Work was another long day. At least it went by quickly.

When I got home, I had 3 frieght cars waiting on me. 2 MDC and a E&C kit. Unfortunately the E&C car is a duplicate of one I weathered really nicely, so the new one will have to be re-numbered, I just have to find some number decals for SP/SSW cars, although some friends may have a few I can use.

I've been helping my father lately with removing the engine out of his car. I'm getting the block and pistons from it so I can have a better engine than the default Ford 302. The one I'm getting from him was bored .030 over making it a 306. Adding some ported explorer heads and intake, an off the shelf cam, and some other goodies should give me close to 375 horsepower and 425 ft/lbs of torque (according to a computer program which calculates flywheel horsepower). All this on a budget engine that would cost less than $1000 to make. I think with that power my 3400 lbs mustang could give Ken's Charger or Cuda a run for their money.

Ken, Detail associates make a 57" fan grille for ALCOs. IDK  how large the FA's fan grilles were. You may be able to find a set of the Hobby town grilles for the Alco FA/PA and use them as well. As for radiator covers, I think you might be able to buy some wire screen that's close to the prototype ones and cut it to fit.

Curt, Those look better than my first attempt. Depending on your era and when those car were last painted, that may be a bit heavy though.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jeffery In another post you said you had some PK2 F2 remains? Would you by chances have any radiator / fan covers? I have a pair and the covers are missing. They have been on the RIP track for 4 years now and I am going to try to get them up and running again. You have any other parts left from them, like maybe Nickel wheels?

Sorry Ken, these came without shells. I use the motor and trucks from them on other models like F7's, F3's, geeps. You've seen them.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, Beer please, but just one!

Ray you might want to talk to JR about installing a 6 point cage in your car!

For some reason I am in a pretty good mood! I am sure I will get over it shortly. Whistling

Bought a new engine today! Cool I know, I should not have but I went 2 years with out buying any. This year I have bought 3 but have yet to spend over $100.00.

Anyway I bought a MRC Santa Fe F7A and I must say I very impressed when I saw it last week at K-10. Main thing was the side grill's. Very detailed and you can see thought them. I all so asked Ken if I could get a discount because of how long they have been there. He gave me a very good prices so it here on my desk waiting for repairs! Laugh

Waite a minute Ken, you are in a good mood your new engine does not run? Well I saw that coming, after all it is a MRC and it has a MRC decoder in it, so why should it run? Laugh I bought a Digitrax decoder to go with the engine while I was there. Whistling

Afternoon All,

Got back from the show awhile back. I picked up 2 Beer Billboard Cars for $24 but they already had Kadee metal wheels and couplers on them so that was OK. I also picked up 2 Pennsy  railroad passes for other RR personnel, they are from 1916 and 1944. I put them in a frame and they are on the wall in the train room.

I weathered the cars with AIM powders. This is my first try with powders.

Jeff- You’ve got to be kidding! ( figure of speech. I know you’re not)I know you have a ton of meds, but you have more than just “comfort” type meds. Has the pharmacy tried calling the doc’s? I know when there was a question or a prescription issue with Mom’s stuff the pharmacy called her doc. Surely they would answer a call from them or they’d have an emergency number to call. Funny those that don’t need the meds can get them. What a system.

They've called with no success and faxed the order in twice now. One of my important meds controls problem I have due to nerve damage from diabetes and meningitis. I'm really having problems with that right now. That's why I've called a halt to any modeling. I can't keep my hands steady enough to even use a screwdriver or a cell phone. Anybody need a drink mixed? I guarantee it'll be well shaken.

Good Morning!!! ......I think

Coffee and a ham and cheese omelet please. Oh and could I get an order of hash browns too? Thanks.

Looked like it might rain so we were sitting on the back porch this morn. Of course it didn't. Nice to sit out and not sweat like a hog..... If hogs could sweat I suppose. That’s one of those sayings I don’t get where it came fromTongue Tied.

Ulrich- Will be praying for you!

Lee- So sorry to hear about Jasmine. Sad they all have to go some day.

Ray- Whew! Good thing you have good reflexes and a quick mind. Hmm Or is that quick refexes and a good mind. anyway, that’s the second time here this year you’ve had a close call. This one closer. Too close. Let’s hope it’s the last. Good looking layout by the way. I bet you did enjoy it.

Well, Brenda has decided she needs to do some shopping. Fine. Except for one little teeny tiny detail. She has decided to combine that with something I need to be there for. Dinner. So, that means I’ll be accompanying herBang Head. And yes, once again, she’s looking for window blinds. Window blind shopping. Man’s most dreaded event. At least she knows what she wants and where it is so the possibility of it expanding into a long ordeal is slim. However with the extra time she’ll have, it could morph into some other hair pulling event.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Hey Jeff,

You know up here, If the Pharmacists  know you, as in previous scripts etc. they will re-new a prescription for you in a small amount if it is for an ongoing (continuous use) Rx.  such as yours is, so that you have a little time to get in contact with the Saw Bones to get the actual renewal.

Johnboy out,...............................................................and  to now trim out a basement window that I got distracted from a couple of months ago.

That is ILLEGAL in Canada and the Pharmacist, if he ever got caught would lose his license to dispense.

Say what you will, it works here.  (but for life being endanger without the drug only)

Thanks to those who are glad I am still among the living.... Big Smile  I can still the side of the car coming closer and closer.....

Your story reminded me of a incident I had back in 1983. I was driving a 1974 Ford station wagon back then, a beat up thing I picked up for $260 to use for getting around town. I was going out to Fort Polk one day and was in a 45 mph zone. This guy in a 1982 Camaro comes out from a gas station and doesn't even bother to look to see if traffic is coming. He pulls right out into my lane and then stops to let traffic in the other lane clear. I hit the brakes as hard as I could and locked up the wheels and I could see that Camaro getting closer and closer. I got that big car stopped with the bumper just touching his door and he looked like he'd laid a brick right there. Stupid people. If I hadn't been paying strict attention to what was ahead I would have pushed his door all the way over to his other door and he would have been in really bad shape or worse.
