Blue Line CSX ran great tonight. Now if I can just get it to sound good. All so need to adjust the BMFE settings, slows down on my version of Sherman Hill. (wrapped 2 X 4) but still dragged 32 coal cars and a track cleaning car.

Ulrich Glad yo are posting more! Now if we could just fine Galaxy!

Snake Front, Todd are you coming down to help? Whistling No sightings now for a few days. But I bet it is wrapped around Vincents new F 9's! Whistling

Vincent

I used to love running my MGB with the top down in the rain! Not in the city of course - that would get you wet pretty quick. But on the highway all you had to do was put your foot down and the wind would carry the rain right over the cockpit and deposit it on the trunk. Yah you got damp, but it was worth it for the stares you got from the general motoring public as you sailed past them at a way too fast speed for the conditions! I can only imagine what they were saying when I went by! (They were probably right too!!)

A friend of mine bought a Miata when they first came out. He got personal plates for it that said "JAP MGB"!

By the way, just to prove how nuts I was in my youth, my MGB was painted like a Union Jack flag. It also had a tricked out suspension and way oversized tires on Ford Mustang rims, a modified engine and a muffler which had very limited effect on the noise output.....etc. etc. I loved that car! Sounds like you like your Mustang too!

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Good Morning All,

There is a really bright object in the sky this morning, someone called it the sun.  We were overcast almost all last summer and winter; it’s a pleasant change to see brightness outside.  Today was the first time I came to work without a jacket since I can remember.

Bama, congratulations on the new edition to the family!  Sorry to hear about your Mom.

Ken, my girlfriend has 2 snakes living in my house.  The big golden rat snake got out and she had a friend come over that breeds snakes.  Well after dumping baby powder across all the door openings to track his movements and looking through the whole hose we never found him until I went to work on the layout.  The 3’ snake came down from the basement rafters to see what I was doing.  I put him back in his tank and he immediately reached up with his nose and tripped the latch for the tank.  Smarter than I thought, so right now we have books on top of the tank, but I’m thinking of buying a new tank with a locking sliding lid.

Curt I hope you’re feeling better.

I still need to find a father’s day gift for Dad and a birthday present for Dorothy before next weekend.  I bought myself a 1950’s metal Lima steam shovel for the layout as my father’s day present to myself.  All metal toys built in the late 50’s early 60’s are very cool.  I think it will look cool on the coal mine module.  I won’t be able to drive to Toledo to see my Dad, Doc told me not to drive farther than 1hour since I might fall asleep.  The parathyroid is 17mm x15mm x 7mm right now.  Normally it should be 1mm x 3mm x 1mm or so.  I’ll be happy to get rid of it!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and three eggs scrambled, fried potatoes with gravy, bacon and couple pieces of whole wheat toast with black Raspberry jam please. Since the birds got all mine, at least I’ll get a taste.

Sunny, with a high near 86.

Curt- Glad all is well and getting weller.

Ken- Best way to get rid of a snake is with explosives.Whistling

Tom- Glad they found something with your wifes ankle. I know how that sounds, but after dealing with yet another person who “the doctors just can’t seem to figure out what’s causing it” here, well, you know what I mean. I hope she can remain at least comfortable until they get a course of action.

BAMA!! Glad you stopped in. Sorry to hear of the woes, especially your Mom. I assume she is better? But congrats on the baby boy……

Pssst- Hey guys. That sounds familiar. Did Bama stop in and make that announcement a while back? Aww, I can’t remember.

Jeff- I’m sorry and I hope all is well with the eyes, but I just couldn’t help but laugh picturing your little mishap with the alcohol bottleLaugh. Sounds like stuff that happens to me.

Ray- Sounds to me like so fare it’s a no-brainer. Cheaper and more percentage.

Well (drying up around here. Pretty good line at the fire house folks hauling water.) today I do more odds and ends, but believe it or not the list is really starting to dwindleBig Smile. Then w**k, then 3 days off if you call them that.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Happy Friday morning to you all, although it would be happier if the Celtics had won last night....

Dave, I had an MGB in my younger years, a 1975.  It had the factory red paint.  And, yes, I remember driving it with the top down in the rain, a thunderstorm, even.  It was fine until we had to slow down, and then I gave in an put the top up.

That's still my favorite all-time car of the ones I've owned.  If Saint Peter gives me the keys to that car when I reach the Pearly Gates, I'll know I'm in Heaven, in the Big Roundhouse in the Sky.  On the other hand, if I end up driving that yellow Pontiac Sunbird wagon for all eternity, it will be the other place, the very hot basement layout.

Good morning, Chloe.  Coffee, please.  I have a seminar this morning.  They will have a breakfast buffet, so I will hold off on the eggs and sausage.

I can't get away from the SNAKE conversation.  Everywhere I go SNAKE, SNAKE, SNAKE.   Not my favorite critter.  You guys are cracking me up.  I think a shovel, "Ker-wack!", would do the trick.

Oh well, later,

Sue

Good morning. It's 69°. The high will be 88°. It'll be mostly cloudy. There's a 40% chance of rain in the morning...then a 60% chance of rain likely in the afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the afternoon.

Looks like today will be just a bit on the damp side if not a bit soggy. I must get a bit of clean-up done on the layout. It's starting to disappear - again. Where there was scenery is a pile of tools and bits and pieces left from projects, bits of wire, a few vehicles. It looks like a hurricane and a tornado just gathered things up and dropped them in two piles along the front of the layout.

A short video of this mornings train led by three GP9's and a U25C.

Morning All,

Didn't sleep well again. I guess I need to start taking the Melatonin again at night which seems to help. I haven't taken it in a  couple of weeks. Have to leave for a MD appointment in about 20 minutes, at least it is close. It poured again several times yesterday and supposed to do the same today. I think it is supposed to start drying up Saturday and start getting into the afternoon shower routine.

Jeff- Nice video.

Lee- Hope you feel better soon.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a breakfast bagel and lots of dark roast coffee for me this morning.

I'm sitting here at the computer waiting for a phone call from the last of the three solar installation companies to talk about what they can offer.  He is 9 minutes late at the moment... LOL

Currently 71°F here in the Finger Lakes with the sun shining!  High is supposed to be around 74°F and they are calling for some thunderboomers possibly this afternoon.

Got some nice scenery trackside out there this morning.  I think the diner is going on one the Steamtown excursions today...

Catch you all later!

Good morning....

Bama ... It is great too see you in the diner again. Big CONGRATS for the new arrival!. Hope your Mom will be okay. With lif being eventful, it is undertsantable, you have little time and money for the hobby now. I would enciuarge you to keep interested, however. Many MRR projects are fun without being costly, and time spent on the hobby is great for restoring sanity when needed.

Harry ... Welcome! ... Glad you are here in the diner.

Lion ... Now that is some bus! ... Gets plenty of attention I bet.

Dave and Mr. B ... Speaking of MGB's with tops down in the rain, were you trying to start car pools? Laugh

John Boy .... Thinking of buses reminded me of you. Do you have any buses with you model train stuff. I have several. CMW just advertised their next one will be the Greyhound Scenicruiser, and I'll have to get that one also.

Ulrich ... I'm concerned about you. I suggest ypu see your doctor again. They should be able to control the heart rythm for you.

Thanks to those who commented about pictures of an old family trip on the Santa Fe. Of course, my sisters who were in teh photo are now older. Whistling

There are som,e great prototype pictures being posted here. Keep it up.

 Morning All!

 Flo, Coffee pleases.

Sitting out in the Train / Snake Room running some trains. I will say the snake sure keeps Sue from popping in every few minutes to tell me something silly. Big Smile Should have told her there was a snake out here a few years ago! Laugh

Pulled 7 coal cars off the CSX GE 6000 coal train and the engine handles my Sherman Hill much better.

Bama Congrats on Michael Edward, should have named him Diesel. Hope your mother is getting better as well.

See you all after work. Only 2 days of work, then 2 days off straight! Big Smile

Good Afternoon Folks,

today was a slow day. I had to take it easy, as yesterday´s "adventure" really exhausted me. As soon as I am in our little cubicle called home, I feel fine. The moment I go outside - bang, my heart starts to rev up. This is silly and annoying.

Found some time to play with my trains. There is one switch which does not work the way it should - need to tinker with it to get it going properly.

It is unusually quiet outside. Must have to do with the start of the European Soccer Championship ...

A good one to y ´all!

Morning Gang ,

Lee this is my thoughts on what you posted. If I were you I would be glad to get rid of that mass as well, but I would also be getting rid of the Girlfriend if she insisted on keeping those snakes. This is how I would put it. Girl, I am offering you your own free agency and here it is,  your choice.  It is me or those snakes either way is good with me but you can't have both.............Then if the snakes were chosen I would look for a gal like my wife or Sue that doesn't dig snakes period, as I don't either.

Garry, Thanks for remembering me and buses. Yes I do have an assortment in my collection. I have 14 of them.Three are HO scale and the others are 1/50 scale, some die cast and some plastic. I have the Super Scenic cruiser in 1/50 die-cast. and also the old Yellow Coach Silver sides by Corgi, they are great models. But there is not much wrong with the Mini Metals collection either. I have most of these but not all paint schemes

By the way have you crossed that new bridge span yet ?

Bama,.  Many congrats on your new Conductor's arrival. That is wonderful.  I had a new Grand-Conductor arrive on March 04, this year.

Running Bear, Sorry to hear about the incident with your eyes, boy you sure didn't need that , but make sure you handle that   "Krud Kutter"  safely you don't want that in your face.  The number of times that can has shown up in your pics and videos, I'm thinking you must be a Major Shareholder and looking for some reasonably priced advertising.  Laugh

Ulrich, You and Petra remain on our prayer list, we all really want the best for you. Glad to hear you started on another module. But keep the ticker ticking.  Look after what is important.  Petra, Christian and all of us want you around to bother us for along time yet.

Curt, Glad you are on the mend, and feeling good enough to get to the LHS.  Really like the layout pics.

Cape-Jim,  How do you like those Resin kits and also the Hydrocal kits?.  I have a couple of the larger Downtown Deco kits that I haven't started on yet and would like your input and pointers..

Vincent,  I was really glad to hear your due diligence worked for you and you found out more about that young lady before you got too involved there.  Some of those situations can really turn nasty fast. Keep your head up, eyes open and ears clean among other things to avoid such situations from arising.  Your Chop-nose is coming along nicely.  I for one admire your skills as I have not attempted such a feat. They remain pretty much as I purchase them with a few add ons.

Crandall,  If you check in here , I want you to know that is a beautiful, professional job you are doing on that new lay-out. Very impressive. What a great room as well. Most of us would almost kill for a room like that.

B-Lion,  You must have taken a sabbatical for a spell. We missed having  your companionship. Did you go back to the big APPLE to get more proto- type pictures or what ??  Glad you are back.  I thought maybe you went looking for Galaxy or even absconded with him to the Monastery.

I have a couple of days off, actually three, but I have a four day Honey-do list, so I had better get started.  I'm not moving as well as I have in the past. I'm having a great deal of pain and dis-comfort in my left leg and knee. They can't find anything wrong with X-rays etc. Been going to the masseur some with minimal help.  Ah, the Golden Years _________Dead___________!!!

Well, you all have a good  week-end now, Ya Hear ??

Prayers and blessings to all who stand in need.  A big HI to all our Down Under Guys. and those MIAs, you have not been forgotten.

Galaxy, Please check in with us.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, a glass of iced tea would hit the spot right now.....

Manét says, "Snake?  Did somebody say Snake???"

I'll catch for you daddy!!!  It isn't a big one is it?  Where is it?

Talked to the guy from the last solar company.  He was on his cell phone, so the conversation consisted of him saying, "phrooob phleemum, gloobie...."  and me saying, "What?"  He will be emailing me all the applicable info ASAP.

Ulrich, I had a SIL who for several years had the same kind of thing happen every time she was around crowds at all.  She did finally get through the episodes and hasn't had an occurrence in 25 years....  Your Doc can prescribe some meds that should help you when you have to go out...  You probably have already talked to them about it, but just thought I would add that.  Hope you can get relief soon.

I'm going to disappear for the rest of day to the train room!

Later!

Afternoon guys

I got called into work last night. Only problem is my mother answered the phone and said I could work. I didn't get a say in the matter... Afterwards I went to the LHS and they didn't have the .03 x .03 styrene rods, then I took Jeff's advice and decided to get a new power cable for my Xbox at a video game place (which is next door to the LHS, and about half a mile from work). Only problem is there are 4 or 5 different types, but they all look identical, so I'll go back tomorrow with my malfunctioning cable.

As far as trains, I'm still waiting on some parts to come in. I haven't chaecked the mail today, but I will in a bit

Johnboy, Some of my friends have told me I'm very observant, and it helped that a friend of mine knew what was going on.  Thanks for the compliments on the chop-nose.

I got two steamers in the mail today. Didn't cost me anything as they both need extensive work. Both are Rivarossi. The 4-8-4 is a wreck. The drive rod pins fell out of one side when I put power to the wheels to check the motor. The motor runs but the drive is a mess as is the body. The Y6B is in good shape but the motor is toast. I may look to see if I can use the motor in the 4-8-4 to remotor the Y6B.

Howdy ...

Regarding snakes, I have heard they do not like garlic. So, get a large container of garlic from the market and sprinkle it where you don't want snakes.

John Boy. ..... I have a 1/50 scale (I think it is that) model of the Greyhound Scenicruiser of the 1950's and 1960's. All other of my model buses are 1/87 for my HO layout. They sometimes appear in my layout photos. Most are CMW, but not all. I also run 2 streetcars on a track surrounding my downtown. ..... Yes, I have crossed the repaired bridge. The new span looks solid, and is a contrast from the rusty, 80-year old spans. The new one is as narrow as the others. Eventually, all new bridges will be build for both lakes. The Ospreys have several nests high on the bridges, and the locals call these birds "bridge eagles".

Jeff, you mentioned travel by train before Amtrak. Do you have any interesting stories to tell?

Ulrich ..... I like the photo of the harbor. Glad to hear you are working on more modules.

For the layout, I have been putting together some of the resin casting model this week. I'm doing this for the sake of variety with vehicles. These are 1950's era cars.

Evening guys

Didn't do much today. The parts I ordered never showed up, and I'm giving the remaining F-units a really good soaking in the alcohol before I scrub them again.

The guy at the LHS said to try back tomorrow, so I'll see if they have those styrene rods tomorrow. I figure take care of a few errands while I'm downtown after work.

Jeff, I think you made out pretty good there. If you kept the motor from the U25C that might work in the Y6B, in case the one from the 4-8-4 doesn't work. If you get a rivarossi challenger like that, I'd swap you something for it, lol. (may be able to turn a UP challenger into a Z-6 Challenger)

I have to work early in the morning (I told the manager I couldn't work saturdays too...) so I'll probably be going to bed in a bit.

Janie just a decaf, please.

Ah Rob, My other cat looks even more like like Storm Cat....

He is licking his chops just thinking about fresh snake for supper!  Manét and Blackie both weigh in around 20lbs. each.  now if California Tom would bring over his two 20+ pounders, that snake wouldn't stand a chance!!!  Very attractive cats you have there, Rob!

Got the last two quotes on the solar thus afternoon (both from the last company I contacted).  I have a lot of fine print to read over as some things just don't add up.....  Like why would a system that produces 87% of my electricity only reduce my bill by 41%???  Hmmmmm.  Of course I could pay the entire lease out of pocket right now...  which also throws up a Red Flag (If it sounds too good to be true, I probably is!).  I sent a few questions back to the company rep to see what he has to say....  We shall see.

I got a few things accomplished in the train room today.  I started scratch building a small water tower for the roof of the Powerhouse..... I also finished up the last actual yard track in the area I have been rebuilding.  The mainline through town will be started next.....  I'm still waiting for the Homabed that was supposedly shipped a month ago to arrive.....  Need to get back in touch with the guy who owns the company.....

Hope you all have a good night!  Prayers for all in need!

Time for me to call it a night. Already had the Y6B apart on a preliminary exam. The motor is not only dead, it's VERY dead. I have an old Rivarossi U25C chassis floating around here somewhere that has a fairly descent motor. I may be able to change them out. Failing that the motor from the 4-8-4 may work in it or I may shoehorn in a can motor. I have the Y6B back together for now. I don't to risk scattering parts around. While I was working on it I suddenly remembered why I quit fooling around with steamers. They're too danged hard to work on with numb hands! See y'all tomorrow.
