HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!! to all of our good neighbours to the south (and the west and northwest - can't forget Alaska and Hawaii).

It is nice to live next door to someone you like and respect!

Evening guys

It's still pretty warm down here in the redneck riveria. It was another scorcher today. Even though I've had the windows in my car tinted to the legal limit, and have A/C it still is like stepping into a sauna when I get in after work. I've been parking under the trees and it helps, but the birds like to hang out in those trees. Dead It's either birds or burn my hands trying to drive (black interior with a rubber-wrapped steering wheel).

I got both of those Walther's GSC flat put together. The bulkheads on the SOO car were a pain, but it does look good. The ATSF is modeled for a TOFC car. I still haven't put together that CNW FGE box. I'm gonna wait until I get some Kadees before I stick their coupler boxes together.

Ken, Happy anniversary. So you were my age when you married her? Makes me feel kinda like a trekkkie having only 1 girlfriend lol. You may need a booster to program those blue-line locos (My GP15-1 needed one to program it's address). CV1 controls the 2-digit address, CV 17 and 18 control the 4-digit. Pretty much you do as Jeff said.

Terry, Haven't seen you in a while.Thank your son for his service.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Book says to use CV1 to set address? WHAT THE HECK IS CV 1? MY SEB DOES NOT HAVE CV 1!

Funny. I have no problem finding CV1 with my Zephyr. I put it in program mode, press CV, press 1, press CV again, enter an address, press CV-WR. Address programmed. I omitted the CV-RD (read) step because the SEB doesn't have read capability.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf, and a place I can put my feet up......

I think I have another case of gout...  This time in my left big toe, or should I say the second knuckle of the left big toe....  Throbbed all last night ans I had some real trouble walking on the ballast all day out at the museum.

We had a nice group of folks there today, but nearly as many as we would have liked.  I did get to talk for some time with many of the visitors.  That is a the good thing about it not being crowded.  Was sunny most of the day and the thunderstorms they were talking about never materialized.  One gentleman who was there was very fascinated with the reefer we have on display.  He used to work an icing facility when he was younger near the end of the use of ice in the reefers.  He verified that one did a bit of w*rk to move those blocks of ice into the bunkers.....  He was all grins.

There was some vandalism sometime recently at our sister museum.  One of the track car trailers had been unhooked and let to got down the track to the loop switch.  it derailed and was found crossways the track.  Good thing it did as it might have run the entire length of the 2 mile road down the other end and rammed into our Penn Central Caboose!  It would have picked up some serious speed as it is downhill the entire way.....  They also switched a couple sparkplug wires on one of the two track car motors.  That was found and corrected yesterday, so they figure the problem happened Friday night.  I think we will need to instal security cameras at both ends of the line.

Terry, my prayers for your son's safe passage throughout his military career, and for all those who have lost their lives, limbs, or mind in conflicts in this world!  Tell him thanks!

Ken, happy anniversary!  I bet you liked her long brown hair.....  Hmmm?   Might be a couple other things too....Whistling

I should be making a potato salad to take to my son's house for the memorial day feast.....

Later!

Evening all

Sitting here waiting on MOH to make it home from helping our daughter buy a new refrigerator. Supper will probably some kind of fast food. I will try calling the GI doc at 9 AM tomorrow. He  probably won't be in but I will try. Fingers crossed.

Ken- Hope you and YOH have a great anniversary and many more. Our 34th is next month. Oh I  know exactly what you mean Ken. MOH would wear these sun dresses that took my breath away.Stick out tongue

Terry- Please thank your son for his service and I will keep saying prayers for him. Most of us prior military types here have been out quite awhile, and it is good to see the ethic to serve our country remains strong.

Everyone have a good night and prayers for those in need.

 FLO, ITS BEER THIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Thank you Flo! Beer

Well, I feel pretty much like this!

Backyard Kicked My Caboose. Got about 25% of what I wanted done, done. Backyard was getting full son and it cooked me. Got some vines cut back and trimmed on some bushes that have pretty much turned into trees. Dang things are 8 foot tall, use to be 5 foot. But, Sue wanted privacy and I let them grow. Bang Head

Monday is our 34 Year Anniversary. To bad I am broke and have to work. One of the reason I got so much off the Honey Do List today.

My Wife when I meet her. Gosh that was 37 years ago. Married her when I was 22.

Anyone wondering why I married her? Whistling

See you all Monday, well maybe.

Hi All,

JimCG: as you can see in the background, pretty darn good! Smile although it's not winter yet, we normally get clear mild days with an average low of 6-8 celcius with tops in the early 20's. Maybe 10-15 days of rain from May to the end of August.

The 787 was incredibly quiet. It was no more than a whirrr as if someone was blowing hot air into your ear is the best way I can describe it.

Cheers,

OzJim

Hi, everybody!

Been trying to keep up with posts and such, I've gotten real busy with work! That's a good thing!

Sorry for the trials and tribulations some have been and are enduring.

PFC Son was cut from SF Selection. Made it 3 and a half weeks. He was on an 8 mile ,full combat pack run and had to finish under 50 minutes. He did. Then, while waiting for trucks to take them back to base, plans changed and they had to run BACK to base under 50 minutes. He didn't!  Soo, he was asked to sign an "Involantary Course Withdrawal" He refused to quit three times, til the Captain persuaded him it would not reflect bad on his record. He is enroute to Fort Bliss, Texas with 2 other guys from his platoon. He'll be attached to the 5th armoured, one of the Infantry Brigades or a Stryker brigade.( he thinks). I asked about Airborne, he says none of the Airborne will get deployed so he opted for this. oh well. He had his choice and got it. He's pretty happy about it so I should be ,too.

Grandkids are up, ran a bunch of trains yesterday most of day because it was POURING rain here! We've recieved over 4" the last2-3 days.

That's about it for now, I'll try to stay in touch more often!

Thanks for serving, all you VETS out there!!

Afternoon, Janie, how about a chicken chimmichunga with all those veggies (no, thank you - I do NOT want Jeff's DaBomb sauce on it...)Surprise, and I will have a RBF (got a bigger mug for that? Wink Thanks!

Barry, [ditto] about the newer medical things that they can do nowadays for your treatment. Don't overdo when/after you've got the chemo/radiation going on/gone. I've heard that it does wipe a person out in the energy department, so get more rest than you might usually. Thumbs UpAngelAngel

Jeff, not sure how you do it, but you sure do put away the food! DinnerYeah If your weather there was like ours, it was a great day for a pool party!Cool

Now, Ken, I don't think Jeff has your rail nippers - where did you leave them? (And was that before of after the seven beers? Whistling Oh, I see that Curt had 'em! Besides, Jeff might just cut the rail with his knife, if the diamond wheel is worn down, though...)Devil My rail nippers are on my w**kbench(AKA dining room table)... somewhere...

OzJim, how's your weather down there in your 'winter'? And nice photo of the 787 - is it that much quieter than other 'liners?

Sue - so, are all NP guys great hosts for operating sessions? Smile, Wink & Grin Have fun!

Barry, all that kitty needs is a sombrero...Laugh

Good afternoon to be inside, Diners! I think Ken's wife is trying to kill him off (and he's helping, cleaning the gutters on a day like today). And no, the black sweatpants is not a good thing to wear for that today...

Curt and Flip, guess you guys are the lucky ones if you got that 60 percent rain. Usually ours comes in July on a hot afternoon - like you said, just enough to cause steam to rise off the streets.Stick out tongue Whew!

I took a look at that Main St. Heritage resin structure kit (Moffat's Bookstore) I've been trying to assemble. Really thinking I may wind up  buying another kit (after I learn how to kludge this one together, sort of...). Should have bought the smaller Main St. Heritage kit (Mercer's Dry Goods) and put it together first. Ah, well..

After I finish off my chimmichunga, I might settle down in the back booth and snooze along with Duke.

Prayers for those we remember this weekend for their service, for their families, and for those in need of healing and/or comfort, as well as for those travelling the highways and roads today and tomorrow. AngelAngel (Drive safe, if you're going to be out there, people!

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G. Zzz....

Phil- I think it rained  sprinkled here for 3.5 minutes but I guess it makes the weather guessers 60% chance of rain correct.

Afternoon All,

Just got up from a short nap. Every time I take the antibiotic I get very tired. It may be wishful thinking but I feel a tiny bit better. I thought about the other Diner's and their significant others that have much more significant medical issues and it actually shamed me to whine about my problem.Embarrassed. Thats what I meant earlier about manning up.

Ken- I'm sorry, but I sent your nippers to a needy modeler. I know you like to help others out so I felt it was appropriate.Smile.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

 Morning All

 Flo, Coffee Pleases.

Going to be a hot one today (I miss winter) with temp around 97 degrees! Wife wants me to cut front and rear yard, trim bushes and kill poison ivy. Some day off!

Hope to get another engine of the RIP track today if the heat does not kill me!

Wife wants me go but some money in her gas tank, so she can drive around and waste the money we don't have to spare.

Guess it is time to get this day going!

Curt How soon can I get my Rail Nippers Back?

Good morning. It's 73° and cloudy. The high will be 95° and it'll be mostly sunny.

Nothing special planned for today. I cleaned up the layout a bit yesterday but it still needs more.

Good morning, Chloe.   A large coffee before our workout.  We need an early start because of the operations session this afternoon.  Brian is such a great host.  Of course, he is an NP guy, too.

Feel better, Curt.

Morning All,

No change on my status. I just have to suck it up. I'm sitting here drinking my cup of coffee before water for the rest of the day. I may try drawing the layout on a sheet of paper with all the business's listed in preparation of attempting train orders. Of course this will be done standing upWhistling

Barry- Best wishes for your treatment and outcome. I could of swore you had said Friday your treatment was starting. Must be my CRS. Prayers for you.

Ken- I thought I got away clean with your nippers. I found them on the floor so I figured you threw them away. You mean you didn't? OopsLaugh

Prayers for all  those in need. Prayers for those veterans that payed the ultimate price for the rest of us.

Gday all, been a few days since I've stopped by.

This came sauntering into Brisbane yesterday :

So quiet! barely a whirr from the Rolls Royce engines.

Here is a shot of the waiting crowd (with a Cathay Pacific A330 in the background.)

I will read thru the posts later.
