Mine new one is a dummy stewart. A dummy is fine for me because I could make it a sound car for a few other powered units. Now to find 2 powered units.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evening guys
Flip, I guess the couch is better than the dog house. lol I agree with you about the foward thing too *ducks and covers from flo*
Time for me to call it a night. Had to go to the post office today to try straightening out a problem. Seems a package I sent to New York ended up in North Carolina! The postal service says they'll track it down and get it to where it needs to go. The contents of the package are rather expensive so I'm not a happy camper.See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening! from Tipton IN.

Deb read what I wrote. I'll be on the couch tonight. Maybe tomorrow too.At least I wont be in the dogs house. It's to small.
Curt- sorry I missed you the other a.m. I was in the area and could have swung by at about 10:20. Oh.well! You do terrific work.
Prayers for all.
Flip
Phil- Thank you. I will have a cup of Decaf and a plain cake doughnut to dunk in it.
Sue- I actually have 3 modeling mats (got 2 free). That one is the one I paint on.

The comments expressed by Debbie are hers alone. I have to live with her and therefore keep my thoughts hidden.
Tomorrow is May 5. Karl Marx birthday. He co-wrote the communist manifesto and used the word" FORWARD" when he had it printed. Forward has been used for most commy printed material. Guess what word has been chosen for obama's slogan? Yeah-FORWARD .
fec153 This is not a scare tactic. The figures I gave were on our ABC World News Report at 6:30pm this evening with videos and doctors and compiled by Diane Sawyer. The info from South Florida came from My Mother who happened to catch the report on her local news channel this evening. We don't pass stuff just to scare people, but if you choose not to heed the warnings that's your choice. I'm really hurt that you would think I or Flip would do something just to freak people out, when we have enough of our own problems to worry about. I am calling our doctor's walk-in clinic first thing in the morning.

jeffrey-wimberly About this whooping cough and smallpox scare, just because it's listed on the internet doesn't make it fact. Same goes for many news services. Many will print whatever will get viewers and readers. Until I see CONFIRMED reports and NOT scare rumors I'm not giving it the time of day. If it was fact Snopes would have something on it. I checked and came up with a big fat goose egg. Funny how something like this happens about this time every four years.

ABC news has confirmed it tonight on the news. The number of cases that is. However, it seems to appear mainly amongst those children who were NOT vaccinated aganst whooping cough. Parents may want to seriously rethink not vaccinating their Children! I see vaccinations have hurt me little in my life. ALthought eh pneumonia vaccine did NOT prevent me from getting a heavy seriously bad case 3 years ago that landed me in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks!
I know not much about the smallpox "scare". I have only briefly heard aobut it.
However, they did not in any way suggest those with comprimised immune systems ro compromised respiratory systems {like me} get any renewal of vaccine. I will confer with my Doctor about it and see what he says...actually now that I think of it, I HAD the renewal vaccine for whooping cough about 1 1/2-2 years ago. SO I think I am safe. Then again, never say so.

Jeff- Have you figured out what you plan to do in the empty layout space?
ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT-
Now that I have your attention please note the following: Whooping Cough Epidemic confirmed in CA & WA, so far with over 12,000 confirmed cases and 11 infant deaths to date. Unvaccinated children are the most susceptible, but anyone who hasn't been vaccinated is at risk. Smallpox cases confirmed in South Florida, as of a Health Alert issued today, along with a rising number of TB cases.
If you had vaccines over 20 years ago, and especially if you have serious health issues now, contact your doctors and find out if booster shots are available and/or recommended.
Flip and I just want to let everyone we care about know of these serious diseases, which are preventable, and are highly contagious. We know this time of year people are planning vacations, or are having people come visit, so please just be aware of what is happening in other areas of this country.
God Bless-
Debbie, Flip's wife
Evening All,
Today went pretty well for me on the install. Laid the 2 approach tracks to the TT, Laid down a spare track, and powered those tracks and the 6 RH tracks. I ran a H10-44 from one approach track, into the RH and back out on the other approach track. Some minor indexing issues but much smoother than yesterday. I posted a couple of photos in WPF.
I did once again prove to myself what a I am. I was soldering power leads on the RH tracks and I couldn't get power to 2 tracks. I figured because of how hard it was to reach I had bad solder joints and removed and tried again (several times). I finally gave up and did the last track. I crawled under the layout to connect to the main buss and realized that I had never connected those 2 tracks..
Ken- I like your background.
Tom- Prayers for your wife.
Everyone take careand prayers for those in need.
Packer Jeff, I think I know of something tougher to strip than the bachmanns. Have you ever been able to strip an Atlas/Kato loco? I tried and never could, and wound up finding some shells to stick on their chassis. See attached pictures:

Afternoon guys.
Had to run some errands with my father. Turns out he forgot his card, so I had to pay for his stuff. He said he'll get me back by buying the Stewart F-units I saw on ebay. If I get them I'll have an F3 AB and an F7 AB. I'll run them buy some friends to see if they have any shells they want to trade for them to get undecs or some other variant.
Garry, all the pictures I found of the BN F7s with the snowplow pilots don't have dnamic brakes. The walthers P2K (featured on the top of the page) doesn't have dynamics on the units with the snow plow pilots. Might be a passenger vs. freight unit thing on the GN. A few with the pilots got bumped down into freight service, and I would love to make a model of one of them.

Well, went to the dentist for cleaning. One filling is cracked so it needs to be re-done, and another slight gum line cavity started..so it needs to be done. other wise clean bill of health..."good home maintenance...keep doing whatever you are doing".... I floss after everything I eat between and around what is left of my natural teeth after everything I eat. Then brush as often as I can..but not as often as I should! My fake teeth go in a jar with a cleanser tablet so they always look pristine!
We stopped by a littel grocery store down the way. THey have really good prices in their deli and the deli meats come from a small deli meats maker in Lancaster County PA. GOod old German Dutch Amish style meats and delicacies. at good prices. We don;t get gas points there, but, mm mmm good!
We have a Wednin' to go to tomorrow. Friends of ours tying the knot at their 3 acre 1820's Federal style Manor house- 6 BR, 2.5 bath and 2 acres or garden space-including a sculpture garden. They want us there early to help set up for the 2 pm ceremony. about 160 guests are guesting there. Food galore and all needs help getting out. I will be relegated to things like table clothing the tables and other things I can do with my cane in hand.... They have requested MOH to direct traffic and park people in cars. I will be pooped by the 2 Pm ceremony! 3 refrigerators and two freezers of food they have. MOH did all the floral arranging...
Well, we pigged out on the delicatessen stuff around 3 pm so I doubt we will eat much dinner, but iffn' we do it will be pig....
WEll on to the news on TV...
have a good evening...
Heartland Division CB&Q Jeff ... Do you use alcohol to remove paint from locos? Vincent was asking about it. ... I like the F-units. I was looking at old photos of KCS F's in action. They intermixed them with FM Erie-Builts .... an unusual combination. Units had tons of filth on top of solid red paint scheme. Not pretty.

We had our annual visit to our Primary Care Physician yesterday. I got a pneumonia booster shot and a zostavax immunization (shingles). He also doubled the doseage of my blood pressure medication. The wife didn't fair so well. He is concerned about her leg. It is swollen, painful and difficult to walk on. So he prescribed an anti-inflammation drug, an ultra scan to make sure no blood clots are involved and told her to return to the surgeon. we both have to get bloodwork done next week. We stopped to make an appointment for the wife to have the ultra scan, a bone density test and a mammogram done. But we got lucky and was able to get the ultra scan done immediately as they had an opening. The initial review didn't show any blood clots thank goodness. We have an appointment with the surgeon next Friday. So next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be spent sitting in waiting rooms. Ain't old age grand...
Not looking forward to the next water bill as the sprinklers have been on three times a day to keep the new sod on the front yard wet. Rain all around us, but just a brief shower here the other night. I must admit the front yard looks really nice right now. I did run the lawn mower over it this morning so it wouldn't get too high. They told me to mow often so the clippings were very small.
Curt, I can't wait to see what you do with the new turntable. It's great you have so much room for it and the surrounding area.
Everyone have a good one. Tom

Hello everybody ... I have a supply of Kentucky Derby Pie here for the diners. Chow Down! It is yummy!!
Ulrich ... I like the photos. I'll check out the websites! Thanks!
Everybody .... If you like the Swiss trains, remember you can have a similar train ride in the USA at Pikes Peak Cog Railway. I have been on it and it is great! http://www.cograilway.com/
Ken ... Your picture of the UP engine looks terrific. Perhaps, you can disguise the edge of the pink foam, and it will look like a real railroad.
Vincent. ... I recall CB&Q stopped buying F-units with early F7 models, and they traded F's for newer power prior to BN merger. CB&Q was buying SD9's in mid-1950's and worked with EMD to design SD24's. NP was buying F9's in mid-1950's. I suspect all NP and GN units had dynamic brakes, but don't know for sure. As for diaphragms, I use them anyhow to make units appear to be closer together.
Ray ... You are wise about use of CC's. Perhaps, you can pass on such wisdom to the scouts you work with. Young people need to learn to do what you do. I liked your photo in Show Me thread!
Curt ... Nice progress with the TT. I know it is tough to align the fan tracks with the TT.
Happy Model railroading

Curt your turntable is going to be a great centerpiece for the layout when finished. I have one of the old Walther's Turntables and it has given me fits over the years trying to keep it running at all.... It is not one of the indexing types.
Jeffrey, hope you get to feeling better. I bet you are just tuckered out from all the family stuff you have been doing lately. Glad your mother is able to do more for herself now.
This afternoon I will be showing my layout to one of the NMRA Divisions new members. He has been trying to get to see several of the layouts where people will welcome guests. His own modeling is superb from what he has shown me in some photos.
Currently 70°F outside here in the Finger Lakes Region under Hazy skies. We got a major lighning show last night just after midnight. Lightning hit a house in Victor, NY during the storm. The family was able to get out, but the fire that ensued totaled the home. There were a lot of power outages in the area, although I didn't lose power here.
I am running out of supplies to do much more on the yard. I also don't want to run up the credit card as I need to keep it paid off every month (to avoid something called interest...). So ordering more will just have to wait until I see what other expenses I have in the next couple of weeks. Luckily I have lots of other things to do on the layout, so I won't lack for hobby w*rk to get done!
Catch you all later today!

Good morning. It's 74° and cloudy. The high will be 88° and it'll be partly cloudy. No plans for today. I'm not feeling well this morning so I'm just taking it easy. Had to go to town this morning to turn in a couple of library books I forgot I had. The library hadn't yet opened but there's that convenient book drop outside. Just drive up and drop the books in. From there it was on to the store to pick up some items I didn't get yesterday. Got back home before 9 o:clock. Already called down to my parents place and checked on my mother. She's able to get around and care for herself now as long as she doesn't try to push it. So that's pretty much my day so far.
Morning All,
Going grocery shopping then working on the layout. Fingers crossed that things work smoother today then the indexing fiasco yesterday.
Sue- The LHS owner I talked to yesterday has a older Walthers TT run by DCC. He had to call Tech Support to figure out the power hookup instructions. I am not very handy when it comes to trying to decipher steps that are written in paragraph form. They really should have made something like reference cards to assist the modeler.
Good Morning!!! Coffee and a couple breakfast burritos please. Thanks.
Rain today. Good thing I finished the mowing yesterday. Of course at this rate, I’ll be mowing again Monday.
Looks like mostly inside chores today, laundry and some more arranging of stuff to put away that she hasn’t done and will most likely complain about where I put them. I’m tired of living in stuff just laying around in piles. I’m not a neat freak nor do I expect spotless surroundings, but this is just silly.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Curt, What a great stage. We love our Walthers TT. I don't remember Larry spending that much time with the indexing. When he checks in this morning, I will ask him. I do know that once it was indexed, is has been flawless ever since. The newer model might be more complicated. Is that paint that I see on your cutting mat?
Sue
