Just stopping by to say Hi. Got out of work late, 10:15 PM. Have to be at work at 9:00 AM so off to bed I go.
Payers for those in need.

Janie, just my usual cup of decaf for the moment.
I actually got most everything done THAT I needed to get done today. Got about half of the Herb Garden/Asparagus bed weeded, did some grocery shopping, started to do the layout for the Scholarship dinner coming up next week, talked and emailed people at the local paper about the problems with the article for the dinner, had the blood draw, and even........ yes, I even....... found time to put another turnout in place in the yard down in the layout room!
Now I'm tired so i think I'll sit and watch the drizzle outside THAT Barry sent my way, and then head out to bed.
Prayers for all suffering from life's difficulties (and there appear to be several) out there.

Hi Ya All,
Boy, if we lit a prayer candle for everyone in need here we would burn the diner down.
This is starting to sound like an Old folks home. Same here as well. I have really been feeling Shi--y lately and not doing very much, although there is lots for me to do. The knee is somewhat better but nowhere near the OK mark. The two degenerative discs in my neck continue to put pressure on a big nerve there that doesn't feel very comfortable and getting lots of ringing in my ears now. Ahh, the Golden Years are to be looked forward to. I say Bu--$1***$2 I guess it is better than being under the lawn but some days even that becomes a question.
Nuff of that.......................
No progress to report on, just thought I would stop in and say I'm still around. I have been listening through the back window here but haven't checked in for a couple of weeks.
Real Sorry to hear of all the misery of our members. Must be something going around right now, or maybe it was that stupid full moon the other night.
Thanks for the tour of Swiss-Cheese-land Ulrich, the pictures and stories were great.
Best wishes to all.
Happy rails and good night.

The only injury here was to my little toe would you believe When I went down I had my arms out and caught the edge of the sink with my head..but it was my little toe that got the bruises!! lol!!
TSF: IIRC the Marklin set I had had a few things that were animated..coal loader and such....
Hey
Senior ditch day today. Prom was Friday, but I couldn't care less. (50 bucks a ticket and my mom wondered why I scoffed at her suggestion of going. That's my fuel for the week.) My weekend started out as a mad dash to get stuff done, but was shot to bits. Worked at my grandpa's Friday, moved an office for a lawyer on Saturday Morning, where I swear she didn't have a file cabinet under 150 pounds.
I was supposed to work on a well yesterday but the guy canceled. And I wanted to sandblast a grader blade today, but it rained all day.
On the bright side, me and a buddy managed to get a compressor running. the compressor is basically a Ford 351 V-8. Thing makes a good amount of pressure and volume. The pressure switch is set to cut out at 125 PSI
Glad to see everyone still alive and kicking
Urlich- The Marklin layout looks pretty nice. I know Hornby has several track plans like that. Doesn't Marklin have a whole bunch of bells and whistles for those?
Jeff- Hope you feel better.

When in doubt. grab a hammer.
If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer
If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer
If it's broken, get a hammer
If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!
Haven't gotten much done today other than having my father send off a package for me. It's just been too painful to move around much so most of the day has been spent watching TV. I did manage to get about an hours worth of sleep earlier. I hope to get more tonight.

Good Afternoon...
Well, it started doing the rain thing here this morning..been raining ever since...
Have some people coming around tomorrow to do some operation stuff with the layout..and see, if it is permitted that is, if it will run OK...
What is this? Falling out'n the shower day? I didst do this very thing earlier today...went to step out of the shower, caught said edge of shower...pooof...down I went. Luckily my head took the fall..so nothing of importance was damaged....
Jerry: Take care ....
JimRC: It has been pretty dry around here of late..I like the rain be falling now..things are a lot greener....
Jerry - last time I slipped and fell in the shower, I broke 4 ribs, one piercing the lung - awfully painful!
Take care!
Calling it a day and heading for bed. Not a good day today. Tried to go outside, but had to return after 5 minutes.
Good Night, everyone!
Hope you're doing better Jerry. I know what those shower falls can be like. I have a step-over shower in that it's like a tub. I can't even get into it as at some point I have to stand on my bad leg without any footwear. I can't balance on that at all and the situation goes from bad to worse in a hurry. I had to be helped out twice. Third time I crawled out. Sink, cloth and soap have to suffice. A walk-in shower would be great but I don't have access to one anywhere. Everybody in the family has step-over showers.
Packer Ulrich, it looks like that layout has some switching capabilities. What size is it, and what are the minimum radius?
Ulrich, it looks like that layout has some switching capabilities. What size is it, and what are the minimum radius?
Vincent - this will be a toy layout, based on old Marklin tin-plate track. Minimum radius is 29 cm, that´s only 11.5" ! This layout works only with pizza cutter flanges and truck mounted couplers, but that´s exactly what it is meant for - a nostalgia toy layout.
Layout size is about 3´ by 6.5´. I order to get a minimum radius of 18", you would have to blow up to about 4´ by 8´ .
Afternoon guys. It's supposed to get into the 90s here with a chance for rain. I'm supposed to make a trip up north to drop a crankshaft off for my father because he forgot to when we went to the machine shop. I'm going to go after I get my paycheck today so I have enough gas for the return trip. but, I'm kind of camping the mailbox for some stuff to arrive here. I would have payed off the stuff I got on ebay, but it'd put my card about 55 cents over the limit. At least today is payday, and my father still hasn't payed me my 100 bucks back.
Jeff, that stuff sounds like fun (the word fun is used sarcastically). Same goess for you too Jerry. Hope you two get better soon.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Afternoon folks!
Yep Barry, got the same "Dull" here in the Finger Lakes, but the precipitation will begin a bit later....
Twas busy doing all kinds of necessary stuff this morning so I didn't get ant time to stop by. Had to go to the Vampire and have blood drawn. The young lady did a great job, I hardly felt it, and she got blood on the first try! Then i came back home, had breakfast, and called the hearing center about the flaky devices... They said come right over. The hearing aids are on their way back to factory to see if they can repair, fix, or otherwise get them to work for more than 2 days at a time. Then i had to call the local paper to see what was up on the article I sent to them last Wednesday.... Talked to the managing Editor and he is looking into where it is and promises to get it done ASAP! Should have talked to him in the first place.
So now I have to figure out who and what is next and what path the committee will take as the deadline for reservations is tonight, and I doubt the article will be in tonight's paper either.
Called the Roofer this morning as well and have an appointment for him to give me a firm estimate tomorrow..... Time to get the thing done while I still have a 3.75% loan I can use.
Going to see if I can beat the liquid sunshine and get some of the herb garden weeded.
Jim - good to see you again. One name off the MIA list!
I was able to finish the track plan for the tin-plate layout today and have submitted it. He is happy with it, and so am I.
Good Morning All...Its partly cloudy and 72 here...Just coffee please...Thank You...Had a bad week-end..Dr increased my Visacare from 5 to 10 mg...Had pain in lower back could'nt sleep all nite friday nite Saturday I was pretty much out of it all day...Then Sunday evening fell in shower had to have EMT's and Firemen to get me upI am so sore today!!...You all have a good one...Jerry
Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have a blueberry bagel and a Rio Grande mug of coffee, please. Thank you!
Jeff, sounds like taking care of yourself (on or off of 'the throne' will be the rule of the day. Hope this is a brief spell (and as you said, that the increased water intake helps head off other problems).
Bill T. - nice photo of a real elevated crossing tower there (well, it resembled one, anyway).
Ray, I finally got Lion (OS X) downloaded on Saturday, and installed it on an external drive (so I could check it out on either the older iMac or with the MBP). It seems okay, but I was having a few programs that wouldn't fully start - I'd only get the bouncing icon for a while, then (if I ignored it and went to another program) when I would click on the program's icon in the dock, the icon disappeared. Will nail down whether these were downloaded from the Mac App store, or otherwise/off the internet. Bit of a puzzlement for now. Good to read about your troubleshooting with your Athearn Mike, as I have one of those (still need to get it all painted & lettered (and then the body assembled to the chassis). Some enjoyable time with the granddaughters, sounds like.
Ken, I'm enjoying your layout pics. How are things progressing with w**k (new place yet for that)?
Barry, we may be getting a good soaking of the gardens here today... Local weatherguessers are saying that this one is a slow-mover (as far as moving east goes). Until last night/this morning, our weather was like summertime hit 92 or 93 F yesterday afternoon, I think. Wouldn't mind it dropping back to Sue's 70 degree weather.
Well (and I figure it will start filling up today), I'm guessing that my magnetic gluing rig will show itself anytime now - couple of days ago, I got in a replacement one that I had ordered after giving up my search for the other rig. Started setting up pieces for assembling one of my Main Street Heritage kits yesterday afternoon, and man, those magnets have a bunch of pull!
Still thinking over possibly re-doing the backmost track on my current layout, and the industry buildings on the back part of the layout. Just not relishing pulling every car and building (and other stuff stored on the layout, not that any other Diners ever do that, right?) off so I can pull the track nails and re-do that backmost track.
We're on a new schedule at w**k, so I'm in the office every day this week, off for the weekend and next Monday, in the office the rest of next week, than on-call the weekend after Mother's Day (and the 21st), then off for six days. Will see how I like that...(not just the six days in a row off - the other nine days of in-office and on-call days/nights).
Ah, at least it's payday today. Now, to figure out bills to pay over on the end of the RC. Glad Galaxy got the counter cleaned up after the move.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.
Morning Dinners!
Flo, Coffee please.
Well nothing unusual this morning. and again. Wife asking for money for things I all ready gave her money for? Need to work on some of the engines.
See you all later.
Good morning. Well I guess that's open to debate. It's 73° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 88° and partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.Well last night I got the bleeding problem with my foot taken care of but another problem cropped up. My diverticulitis has flared up again and my chances of getting a good nights sleep went down the crapper quite literally. More than half the night was spent on the throne and I got no sleep whatsoever. In most cases people with this have pain and swelling on the right side of the colon, some have it on the left side. I'm one of the unfortunate few who has it on BOTH sides. I have to take medication for it every day, not just when it flares up. The meds are supposed to limit the severity of it. Much of today will be spent not far from the bathroom. In addition to the loose stool it also causes lots of gas and bloating. I really hate it. If it follows it's usual course in a few days I'll probably be constipated. So the regimen for today is going to be drinking lots of water as I'm already somewhat dehydrated. I'm nauseous but haven't had any vomiting. I rarely do in these cases. That's probably the rest of the week ruined but maybe I'll get lucky and it'll pass in a couple of days. No layout work today obviously. I hope I don't have to go anywhere.
Good morning, Chloe. I have one more day before heading back to work. I have yard work planned. It should hit the mid 70's today. That usually happens on a work day.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Ulrich- I prefer to kinda combo. I don’t use time cards or anything, just pickup and drop off cars and pretty much just play. To the ones who do the real operations they would say I just like to run trains.
Rainy morning here supposed to do the same off and on all day,
I guess I’ll do stuff inside. Many things to do, not much time in a day from other things I have to do to do them.
Got dem ol' clouds back with the ever popular showers and those ol' t'underin'boomers for today...tomorrow...Wednesday....et cetera....
Getting some groceries today and some more pink/blue stuff for the layout..as I continue to rework certain areas...
We ordered the wood for the new back deck...all redwood with pressurized posts as well...going to be something a little different here...
Have a good day!!
Today is Monday, May 7th, 2012!!!
The work Week has begun again {groan}!!!
Enjoy Your Day!!!
Heartland Division CB&Q Ulrich .... Hows the weather in Switzerland summer and fall? Are the rental chalets at places near train stations? Your pictures look great.. How's train service in Germany from Swiss to your location? .... Starting to wonder about Europe. I suspect Switzerland, Austria, Germany are among the few places that are holding together somewhat.

Garry - the weather is usually very nice in July/August. Long term forecasts say, it´ll be a wonderful summer this year. Train service from Switzerland to northern Germany is fine, there is a train every hour. It is a 8 hour ride, though. I share your opinion that Europe is coming apart. Aside from the countries you mention, everyone is looking at Germany for picking up the bill of their rapidly growing national debt. Day by day, we here it on the news, that we are obliged to help, because it was us Germans who started the war. Well, it wasn´t my father, nor me or my son ... Btw, you´ll find the Swiss and Austrians to be more "German" than the Germans
Good Morning Gang!
Today is our final day on our tour throughout Switzerland. Already? Well, please remember that Switzerland is not a big country, not much bigger than Yellowstone National Park.
After having been brought back to life when having paid the bill at our St. Moritz hotel, we head for the train station to take a ride on the Bernina line all the way down to Tirano in Italy. The weather is nice today, so we can enjoy the ride in one of the open panoramic cars.Highlight of this ride will be the station of Ospizio Bernina, the highest train station in Europe, and the spiral viaduct of Brusio.
In Tirano, there will be a bus waiting for us to take us to Lugano in Switzerland, where we will board a train to Locarno on Lago Maggiore. After lunch, we will ride the Centovalli line to Domodossola in Italy.
In Domodossola, there is a train waiting for us to take us to Brig, passing through the Simplon Tunnel. In Brig, we will have to change trains again, this time for Bern and Zurich. The ride will take us via the famous Bietschtal Viaduct (remember the Faller kit) and Lötschberg Tunnel.
In Bern, connections can be made to other European locations, if you wish to stay on in Europe, or you can take a train to Zurich-Klothen airport, if you want to head back to the States.
I hope you have enjoyed our little "Tour de Suisse". In fact, you have covered nearly all the railroad high lights there are - with the exception of the famous "Jungfraubahn".
Have a safe trip back and enjoy your day!
Jeff...take care there....
