Well I decided to go ahead and put the manual starter safety in the van. Why? Because if I have the engine off but the ignition on while working on it and accidentally press the button it will start even if it's in gear. If I have the safety switch turned off that won't happen. If I forget to turn the safety off and that happens it's due to my own stupidity. Turning the safety off after the engine starts will become second nature quickly enough. Besides, why put off till tomorrow what can be done today.

Inch ...  You are plenty smart enough. I see Walthers was selling gas station details but are sold out. The manufacturer is Great West Models.  http://www.greatwestmodels.com/  At their wesite look at the column on the left. Under "Gas Station and Details", they list 2 gas staion kits with details. Under "Create a scene detail parts", they list sets of detail parts for gas stations.

Lion ... Sounds like you are an electronics guru. Hope the circuit works for you.

Jeff ... You are welcome.... Looks like a storm uprooted a tree on your layout. ... We have an abundance of prototype uprooted trees here.

Lee .... GN and NP freight cars? You can't go wrong.

Ken ... We were just talking about how government messes things up, and there you are with SS messing up things.

Ulrich ... Your government is like ours. It messes up things.

Posted by galaxy on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 5:27 PM

Evening all

enjoyed a relaxing do-nothing day. Not that I overdid it the other day, just did the dishes and got some prescriptions and that was it.

Dinner was Roast beef smothered in gravy with noodles and carrots.

Later

have a GREAT Evening!!!

Sister and elder son may be here tonight. Train room is still a mess, Still better than no train room at all, that is for sure.

Next few days could get busy around here. If I don't make it back in, y'all have a great rest of the week.

Garry the LS&W terminates in Chicago so I have to have a few “Western Roads” in the mix….

Inch, remind me what you were looking for, I'm very handy at searching Walther's or I might see it at one of the train shows this month.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, another cup of hot decaf would be nice....  just typed a nice long message about the new iMac I am typing on at the moment and I did something with the "magic Mouse that came with it and deleted it rather than posted it....

I did find out the 1 Tb hard drive was indeed fine and the lady at the store talked me out of having it copied to the new 2 Tb HD as all I needed was to put the old drive in a case they sell for $15 and it will plug in with USB, Firewire, and a couple other high speed ports it has.  I still bought the 2 Tb drive and will set it up as a back up (Time Machine) to save all info automatically.  The iMac is the 27" screen with 4 Gb of RAM and a 1 Tb built in Hard Drive.  It has the 3.1 GHz intel quad core processor in it....  Running Lion, BTWE.  I'm sure there is at one person in here who likes THAT idea.....WhistlingSmile, Wink & Grin  Should keep me happy for a while.

I have been spending tonight upgrading software, transferring files form the laptop (used the migration assistant to transfer all program, computer settings, and certain documents to the new computer via Firewire.  I still need to upgrade a few biggies like Photoshop and Indesign....  I am now networked with the other two computers on my home network so I can move data easily between the 3 of them.  The old 1 Tb drive will be used as a drive I can not only save photos, PDFs, Movies, and other things, but can be moved from computer to computer.  That will be  a great things when I take the laptop on the road and wish I could access the photos which used to be on the old G5...

Der, you had to go and remind us we lose an hours sleep this weekend now didn't you!  Actually I don't care as I will compensate by sleeping an hour later!

Hope you all have a great night.  Prayers for all in need!

Mornin,, irish coffee and a sweet roll Zoe. We’re under a wind advisory with gust 45+ on this mostly sunny skies, high near70. Increasing cloud late and rain tonight into Thur.

GARRY,, I usually wait an look at Walthers catalog, when I get over to my NSLHS. If they weren’t so high priced I’d have one here. Thanks for the link too, found some of stuff there.

LEE,,,,,, what I’m wanting  is general  interior details in a 50’s gas station. Like benches, tool box, tire changer, racks, display shelves and such, without spending a lot [may be out of luck on that part].

There’s train show in Mattoon this weekend [the only one not a 2-3 hour drive], maybe I’ll get lucky there on some stuff. Sure wish I hadn’t lost that wed site link.

DER,, time changes in the south too. Your sounding like me with too much to do. Then when ya get time you don’t have the energy. Good luck with the bugs

No big plan for the other than normal chores n work on that vanity cabinet. Mother’s decided she wants drawers in it, knowing I hate building them. Oh well such is life, all ya can do, is grin, bare it and hope ya don’t get arrested.

Good Morning All,

Wahoo! 54F today (and I’m stuck in an office all day)

Last night I poured 6 negative molds, after work I’ll break them free and trim them up for some pouring on Thursday or Friday.  I needed crossing flashers for the club layout so a friend offered to build a couple flashing circuit boards for me.  I opened the padded envelope last Wednesday night at the club meeting and found 2 circuit cards and a Ziploc bag full of resistors, capacitors, and some can looking parts I haven’t identified yet.  There was a picture of what it should look like when finished and a note telling me I need to learn how to build this myself.  Took me an hour to assemble the first one, tonight I’ll build the second one.

If anyone is interested; the dealer that held the estate sale I went to last summer still has several Athearn Blue Box kits in his inventory.  If you email me I’ll be happy to send you his contact information.  Blue Box $6, Bel-Biv $8.  Why should I be the only RSA member here, LOL.

Lunchtime!

I just has a couple of slices of Petra´s wonderful apple & onion pizza - yummy. Tastes good and is cheap...

Today´s mail brought me a surprise gift. My son has send me a N scale kit of the famous sail boat "Bluenose". It is a wooden kit, with lots of tiny bits and pieces of wood. Need to get some glue and paint, before I can start to assemble it. That cries for a harbour scene in my layout, doesn´t it.

Here is a picture of what the boat hopefully will look like:

Still no news from our job administration - makes me all nervous.

I have 10 applications for jobs in Canada going; I hope one of them will work out.

Have a good one!

Good Morning!! Coffee and two eggs scrambled, hash browns, bacon and a waffle please. Thanks

Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Windy, with a south wind between 21 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. As usual, when the weather is nice out, it’s so cotton pickin windy you can’t stand it.

Inch- Doesn’t sound like Mother would want to hang her Bloomers on the line today either. They’d probably end up in Lee’s backyard. I’m with you on the Walthers site.  I search for something and I get a lot of things that aren’t even close. Kinda like asking Brenda a question…..HOOOOO!

Ok. What am I gonna do today. Welp, I have to go to the bank. Then, I need to do some hole filling on the wall where that wire rack shelf thing was. The shelf ones are covered by the cabinets, but those support arms and the end thing aren’t so… Then, there is something else..OH!, I have to take my boots in to get them resoled. Maybe I’ll do that around noon. Mix it up with a lunch bought in town. Hm…Hmm.the shoe place is near my second LHS… I wonder…Smile. Then, there was something else I need to do that I’m constantly reminded of…Whistling..It’ll come to me later. At any rate I have a plan to begin STRAIGHTENING UP TODDLAND (of which I’m king)Yes. Yup. No reason I can’t piddle around there any more. At least I haven’t been told I can’t yet. So. You may get a current picture of where I stand. Figuratively speaking of course. Where I actually stand is behind the camera so you wouldn't... really see..me...you'd just see....Zip it!but FIRST!

Gotta see if Ziva is up yet Stick out tongue

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Just a quick cup of decaf for me while I wait for the wife to get ready. Then its off to our local diner for a nice breakfast, then the Post Office, and then to one of the local malls so the wife can take a nice walk. We do this 2 or 3 times a week since she is no longer in physical therapy. I prefer to walk outside, but as she is legally blind, we do the mall so we don't have to worry about curbs, broken concrete ot other hazards in the area. Fortunately, she is not a big shopper, so there really isn't any added expense to using the mall. Thank goodness for small favors. Got to go, she's ready. Everyone have a good one.

Moe .... If I knew you were coming, I would have arranged a layout tour. There are three of us HO modelers with layouts here at Lake Barkley. We're all close to the BP gas station at the Lake Barkley bridge.  Inch and JimCG have had the tour, but it;s been a while. If they return, they will see much has been done on the 3 layouts.

Government still does not know what to do about the broken bridge. Anything the state does will require approval of about a half dozen federal agencies. So far, the governor came to the bridge for a photo op. He gave a speech and smile before the cameras.

JimCG's visit was on an eventful day. It has very stormy with lots of rain. It was the day of the Nashville flood.  Buildings were floating down a flooded freeway in Nashville that day. Lake Barkley here is the CUmberland River downstream from Nashville and we had plenty of flooding here. The photo was taken east of Nashville in Lebanon, TN that day.

Morning All,

Lazy start to the day here. I go into w**k at 1 PM. High today will be 80 F and breezy. In a little bit I need to run out to Radio Shack and pick up some feeder wire for the coal yard install. I realized that I used all I had. The 2 PECO turnouts came in yesterday so tomorrow I will be installing them after some quality yard work with the son.

After I get home I'm going to hook up a small DC track to test the new RS-1 to make sure it works before doing the DCC thing.

Well everyone take care.

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy. The high will be 78° and it'll be mostly cloudy.

Feeling better this morning. I'll try to get the layout cleaned up today. Got busy with other things yesterday and pushed myself a bit too far. I have a bad habit of doing that.

Morning again

Around 60* for a high today...54* already!

Grocery shopping out of the way. GOt out for under $100. GOod.

Got laundry going and will have to do dishes.

Tired and legs sore, but a pain pill might help.

Today is bread day. THe local grocery store gives away bread and stuff that is about to expire to the organizations of churches to distribute to panty people. Our neighbors are in charge of same, though I didn't see much in the carts today to go to their charities {including us neighbors}. I got to get over tehre early to get what good stuff might be there. AS soon as they come home..which should be soon. Helps to stretch our budget as we get bread and sometimes sweets for free. can't beat that.
