 Morning From Maryville IL!

Flo, Diet Dew if you would.

Today is my Friday! Yes First 2 days off in a row for sometime now. Glad to get this work week over, not a good week. I might break $200.00 in commissions but no over time this week. Coming check will not be that good.

Plus Thursday Honey Do List is getting pretty long! So will not be a lot of time to relax. Maybe Friday I will have some train repair time.

Have to burn a CD for the wife, see you after work.

Mornin'....  Ah, Afternoon folks!

Zoe, can i still get breakfast?  I can?  Good.  I'll have the #2 special, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast  to go with the dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug, please and thank you.

Nice sunny spring like day here in the Finger Lakes today.  Currently 61° outside.  Not much warmer in the house and way to warm to fire up the wood stove.  Only supposed to go down to 47°F overnight, so today the stove will stay cold.

I was up to 1AM yesterday doing transfers and upgrade to software......  They sure have made a lot of changes in Lion!  Notice I didn't say improvements........  Little by little I am figuring out how to configure everything to how I want it.  When I transferred everything form the Laptop last night, it set me up as a second user.  Took me about an hour to remove the second user as we were both set up as Administrators for the computer...  Got THAT figured out and one of me has now disappeared......Whistling  It will now start up and run the way I want it.  Just installed a new copy of Office 2011 and am updating it now.

Have to turn off Firefox to be able to finish THAT, so I'll catch you in a bit.

Morning again

Around 60* for a high today...54* already!

Grocery shopping out of the way. GOt out for under $100. GOod.

Got laundry going and will have to do dishes.

Tired and legs sore, but a pain pill might help.

Today is bread day. THe local grocery store gives away bread and stuff that is about to expire to the organizations of churches to distribute to panty people. Our neighbors are in charge of same, though I didn't see much in the carts today to go to their charities {including us neighbors}. I got to get over tehre early to get what good stuff might be there. AS soon as they come home..which should be soon. Helps to stretch our budget as we get bread and sometimes sweets for free. can't beat that.

WEll, I've got to get on with things.

Later.

What are "panty people" Laugh

"panty people" are people who volunteer at  or use the  FOOD PANTRY.

I will leave all dirty jokes, references, hints and inuendos OUT of this posting. This is a CLEAN diner!

And I was right, they only got two carts to distribute between 2 Churches and us. Limited supply. I got 2 loaves and some hamburg rolls. should last us to next week.

Took a pain pill to ease back pain, not really working, but want to start some more spring cleaning it is so warm and fresh air is good!!!!!!!!

Evenin' folks!

Cloe, I'll have the New York Strip stake (they do serve those out here I hope), medium rare, baked potato with lots of sour cream, and a trip to the salad bar, please and thank you Ma'am!

Barry, I do believe I see a Plymouth Gas Mechanical loco there.  Cool find.  We have one over at the R&GV RR Museum completely restored and in working order.

I'm still pulling odds and ends off the old computer .  It will stay up running for about 20 minutes if i am lucky, but I now have to shut down the iMac while I send stuff as there is only one ethernet cored long enough to reach them both. Getting there though....  I just keep remembering emails I really want to keep...  There is also a document on the desktop I could use, so I'll be doing more in a few minutes.  By the end of the evening I should have all of it finished and get the old girl ready to be recycled.  I may hold onto the monitor for a bit, as there is an adapter I can use to hook it up to the Mac Mini down cellar.  It is too large to sit on the little table I have next tio the workbench, but I may rearrange thing a bit.......

The guy who will be installing the sheetrock on the wall behind the layout stopped by to look at the job today.  Hopefully it can get done next week.  He found a source for 1/4" sheetrock which would be easy to handle in the place and should do nicely.

'Puter is about to be shut down for a while, catch you all later!

Time for me to call it a night. Had dinner with my parents at KFC tonight. Buffet is cheaper for senior citizens. We've already had several short rain showers here. Rains getting a head start on tomorrow. Supposed to be 20% tonight and the same or a little higher tomorrow. Looks like rain through to Tuesday. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning All,

Ulrich, maybe a New England style sea port with lobster boats and fishing nets, and maybe a few mermaids is in order?  Yes there are mermaids, but you can’t see them until you finish the ritual drinking of beer or other alcoholic beverages en mass…

I found a cure for my rolling stock hording!  I bought a 1977 PFM Hudson last night, NIB, assembled.  He did send it out to a repair guy that oiled and made all the required adjustments before I bought it.  Now the big decision do I paint it?

Did you hear that Fergie? I bought a PFM!

I wanted a Berkshire, but my choices were: PRR 2-10-0 with caboose, PRR Mikado, GN 4-6-2 or the Milwaukee F6a Hudson I bought.  He did have a 2-4-0 with driver about the size of silver dollars.  It looked like an ugly duckling but it ran smooth and fast.  He had about 7 PRR locomotives with the “pinched” smoke box.

Good Morning

Dull wet and windy today going from a high of 56F this morning to the mighty 34F this afternoon to 20F tonight....then about 3" of the white stuff...for another winter day...of 29F...tomorrowGrumpy...oh well...by Sunday we will be up to 60F again....Smile, Wink & Grin

Yesterday I did manage to get some yard work done..ie: we cut up what remained of neighbours large Maple tree that fell after the last windstorm we had...now we have some more hardwood to play with....Whistling

Someone( I forget who) asked whether it is always this windy up this way..weeelllll...it sure do feel like it sometimes..we had a rather windy fall/winter here this year...as well..being in the upper part of a valley the winds do come off the lakes a lot more here than in the valley bottom...Whistling

Lee:  I got 2 of those PFM's they are wonderful little things....

Coffee, please, Chloe. I will sit in this back booth to see who shows up.Dinner

We painted until 3:00 yesterday.  Then I spent time working on another wall for my car shop.  It is amazing how long it takes to put a wall together.  After this one, I will go back to kits. Maybe.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a breakfast …..thing please. Oh I’ll know it when I see it. Just bring something and I’ll tell you if that’s it. Thanks.

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 47. Kinda drizzling now.

Ray- I think they call them “Kansas City” strips west of the Mighty Mi-i-ippy. (from Illinoy you know. We don’t pronounce S’s. And believe you me, it’s tough to say S, if you don’t pronounce S’s.)

Inch- Actually didn’t make it to Hammers at all. I ended up running shorter on time due to the fact I don’t know my way around Springfield and I thought I knew where the shoe repair place was but I was driving clean across town on a street one block over. Maybe two. Anyway, I don’t know if I missed anything. Hammers was kinda leaning more and more to the RC cars and helicopters. MRR stuff was getting thin othern cars.

Welp, like I told Inch, got lost in Spfld so to speak. I only go to the cobbler oncet a year and Ash and Laurel to me look about the same and of course, I forget to look at an address before I leave because I.., I.., well I just forget about it. Besides, I know how to get thereWhistling. I had some other odds and ends to get done and you know how that goes so one thing led to another and needless to say I didn’t get into the train room as hoped. So much for plannings.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

EDIT: OH! forgot to tell you. Now that Brenda decided she needed the Kitchen counters to match, the "oh I hope it doesn't return to a drop zone" room, she casually mentioned that one of those black composite fake Granite looking sinks would look nice too........

Good morning. It's 72° and mostly cloudy with a 15 mph south wind with gusts of 25 - 30 mph. The high should be 80° and mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain this morning and 30% this afternoon and things will as they say go downhill from there.

Nothing special going on today. Just more cleanup on the layout. I had several interruptions yesterday. Certain people seem to think that because I'm home all the time I should have plenty of time to look up things for them on the web. They seem surprised when I tell them I have a life too and have things I have to do. Oh well, such is life.

Mornin' everyone,

Zoe just a bran muffin with some butter and a cup or two of dark roast coffee this morning....  Yea, the sugar was a bit higher than I like it.  After several days of being below 100 when I took the reading, today it was 127.  Was high last night too.  Probably because all I have done for the last several days is sit and fiddle with computer stuff!

Have looked at about half the emails in my Humor folder....  Of course I have to sit and read them to do THAT.  By tomorrow I should be done and can take down the G5 for the last time.  The old girl seems to be running fine today.....  So far!  Typical of Hard Drive failure I think.  New iMac is fast!!!  Big difference 8 years makes in what is out there.  I am also getting used to the "Magic Mouse that comes with the machine.  Very, very sensitive.  Don't accidentally touch it with a finger or strange things may happen.... LOL

Barry, I think the lady on the right in the photo this morning looks like my grandmother Cooley!  Only she was not into engine repair......  Cooking, sewing, and nagging grandpa, yes!

Rob, glad you have enjoyed having family around!  Always a good thing (as long as you all get along).

I have to decide whether to just continue moving files or go out to the garden and dig some parsnips before the weather turns ugly this afternoon....

Later!

 Morning Folks!

Flo, Coffee and English Muffin please.

Well today we go to fight with SSI to see why and if they over paid Sue $1000.00 last year. Bang Head I am sure it will be like fighting with Bank Of Stupid.I am sure they will find someway to say it are fault and not there's.

Only high-lite of this trip is I will be close to this!

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=38.633718,-90.151749&hl=en&ll=38.633718,-90.151749&spn=0.002074,0.002248&sll=38.633718,-90.151749&sspn=0.002074,0.002248&oq=east+st+&hnear=East+St+Louis,+St+Clair,+Illinois&t=h&z=18

It is a Partial Standing Round House! Looks like it is still about 70% standing. Funny I drove by it for years on the interstate and could see the one wall but had no idea what it was. It is in East St Louis IL so I think it was a UP roundhouse. I will poke around a little and see if I can get a better view of it off the streets and see if there is any places I can park.

I do not plain on trespassing on the property, well not with the wife with me that is! But, little scouting will not hurt would it?

 A link.

Afternoon!

Flo, I'll have the Reuben Sandwich, fries and a cup of decaf for lunch.....  I'm still hungry from breakfast.  THAT muffin didn't go far.

Ken, looks like the roundhouse has seen better days.  Probably classified as a public nuisance by now!

Found this one from 2007 on my old 'puter and just need to share with you folks.....

Two New York City jazzers got a gig in Chicago but had to drive separate cars.

When the trumpet player arrived at the gig, he was told the sax player had been
killed tragically on a bridge in Indiana.

He looked confused... then said, "Man, there's no bridge in Indiana."

Good Evening Gang!

Petra has discovered the joys of the Internet, so I now have to share the time at the PC with her. She has joined a forum with a real chatty bunch of folks ...

I spent the morning doing my favorite task - searching the web for job openings, sending out applications. There is a little bit of hope, a prayer and a big Sigh attached to those emails. I even found some time to start the assembly of my "Bluenose". The last time I was into model shipbuilding was about 40 years ago, when I built a model of the USS Constitution, a plastic kit by Revell. The parts did not fit very well, so it was a big hassle to get it together properly. The Bluenose is a wood kit, which is much more forgiving. All you need is a good sanding block, fine grit sand paper, and some wood putty. I am nearly finished with the hull, which comes as a block of CNC machined hardwood. I had to add the planks, which was quite a job of bending, shaping and gluing. Tat´s the easy part of it - wait till I have to start on the rigging!

Still no positive news from the labor administration. I received a bunch of letters from my lawyer, just for info. Things start to run tight now. The car is out of gas, which runs at $ 8.64 a gallon right now. The telephone & Internet bill is going to be due next week, actually not a big amount, but any amount hurts when you don´t have it. At least we are stocked up on food.

Got to be going - supper time is coming up!

Have a good one and a prayer for the MIA`s.

Afternoon all

Today is pay day for MOH. Yippee, now It can go out in bills to pay. Speaking of bills if the cable bill doesn;t get here by Saturday, I will have to call them. They are the 2nd bill to arrive each monht, usually on the 3rd. I get nervous when bills are late.

I COULD go to online bill paying, but I have had my/our : checking account double debited more than once for "electronic check procesing", my Credit card that I only use for internet ordering compromised, I've had my/our screenname{s} hacked, our server account hacked, my computer account hacked and  ...and my personal info stolen via computer hacking into our local major utility company's computer {RAY knows THAT routine I think HIS company is the same}....so NO, I don't trust online bill paying yet!!! I MAY have even had my SS number stolen through regular mail as it is.

Ken-there are bound to be old remnants of roundhouses all over the country. Here in Conklin, NY near the CO yard is one,....but it is so close to, and accessed by, the CP yard that the CP "railroad cops"" will be after you if you try to access it! Looks like the two you picked are "out in the middle of nowhere" but could be dangerous to troll around!

well, On ward to other things.

~A Cup of Tea ~

One day my Gramma was out, and my Grampa was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys.

Grampa was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Gramma came home.

My Grampa made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Gramma waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Grampa, and she watched him drink it up.

Then she said, (as only a gramma would know), "'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"
