Just a quick "Hello", and a coffee before I head to the pool.

Just wanted to say hello. Supposed to be 82 today. At w**k again and today will probably be a repeat of yesterday.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a Blueberry bagel please. Lightly toasted and some but…huh? Yes dark roast. Thank you.

Sunny, with a high near 75. Light and variable wind.

Counter top dude will be here to measure tomorrow at 0900. This is good. Once the countertops are done and installed the sink and the plumbing can be done and that means the kitchen will be done!!! As will the “Oh look there’s a spot, let’s put it there” room. This waiting period could take a couple weeks though so nothing happening real quick. Looks like I will be waiting for the office floor after all.

Jim- Good to see you’re having time to stop in more regularly now. I hope that is a good sign.

Ken- Dealt with those kinda people a lot too. Yes I think about w**k a lot and I only am there 3 nighta week but I w**k with one who is the most two faced individuals I have ever met in my life and I have met a lot. Be just as nice to someone to their face and say the most horrible stuff about them behind their back. You’d have to see/hear it to believe it. I kid you not it’s so unbelievable some would say I’m lying about it. And those who know me real well would begin to have doubts about me telling the truth because it is so unbelievably opposite of how he appears to others. He’s that “good” if you will. Anyway one thing about the cheaters, scammers liars etc that I w**ked with over the years, I walked with my head up into every room I’ve ever been into, and been able to look every person in the eye. Well, if I did that. Which I usually don‘t. Kinda got a phobia about that look someone in the eye thing. But I could. Anyway, I haven’t had anything to say about my layout in a longer time than you. So don’t worry about it. All of us have used this forum to blow off a little steam and THAT is Railroad related. HAH!

Moelarrycurly- Glad the cough is moving out.

Well I spoke to Brenda about Sue and Audrey’s opinions. I even showed my hand about the grout and it’s tendencies to mold and mildeeeew. Her response was to think for a couple seconds then say….”the tile around the tub doesn’t do that”. I said, “the tub doesn’t have a shower either. Therefore the soapy water and all doesn’t get sprayed on the stuff. Just like I don’t have to replace the caulking either because of it”. I have yet to get a response. In my world this is good. It means she see’s my point (good) but is trying to figure out a way to get around it (shakey) so she can get her way and prove me wrong (bad because then I never hear the end of it. Unlike when she’s wrong it’s always “OK! We can drop it now.”) I’ve yet to declare victory, and she has not been defeated, but the battle has turned in my favor. What I’m waiting for now is the Hail Mary, the Shock and Awe. Her final Blitz if you will. If I can survive that….THEN! The battle will be won and victory will be mine. Of course that’s prreeeetty much what Custer said too.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It's 67° with patchy fog. The high will be 82° and partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Not much happening today. Have to do laundry this morning. I may be able to get some layout work in later.

Good morning, Diners! ...... I'll have coffee and a carmel pecan roll, please.

I have a lot of non-model-railroad stuff keeping me too busy. However, I have been installing Rix "concrete" railings around my downtown over the retaining wall. I'm still waiting for more Chooch stone walls to arrive.

Have a good one, as Jerry says.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a raisin bran muffin with lots of real butter and a cup (or two) of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

"The sun is a-shining to welcome the day...."  Was very, very dark and gloomy first thing this morning, but the sun has decided to come out "and dry up all the rain. And the eensy weensy spider went up the spout again..."  Sorry, I haven't completely recovered from watching the granddaughter yesterday.  Currently 55°F outside with a high around 65° this afternoon.

Ken, I think you got a bad cylinder in that machine of yours!  Oh!  Wearing out the tires early......  I see.  Well I hear he gets a huge discount where he w*rks....Whistling

I'm hoping Thursday my son and I can load up my truck with a pile of stuff to be recycled.  Some his and some of mine.  he has a couple old TV's and a bunch of other electronic equipment to add to mu old Laser Printer, microwave, and a box of odds and ends (remotes, battery backup parts, etc).  Be good to officially start Spring Cleaning around here.  I sure needs it!

Have a bunch of stuff to do before I can even think about the trains today!  Best get moving!

I'm down here at my parents place on an old computer I have set up here. It's basic frame is around fourteen years old. The drives were all changed out about eight years ago with the exception of a DVD ROM USB drive I installed last year so I can watch a movie once in a while. My parents have advanced basic cable TV and the channel selection stinks. It's mostly news, weather and shopping channels but they like it.

Anyways, I was digging around in the old photo files that were transferred from the previous hard drive and I came across some old photos of a layout I was working on back in the 90's. They were taken with an old pinhole pocket camera that at it's best took lousy photos. The layout was one of the few two level layouts I built for myself and due to cash constraints that were even worse than what I'm dealing with now it sported several different brands and quality of track ranging from Atlas Snap Track and flex-track I had left over from the 80's to Bachmann steel rail EZ-Track and Life-Like steel rail Power-Lock track. Just whatever I could get my hands on. Most of the EZ-Track, locos and rolling stock I had was left to me by a relative who passed on when I was thirty-five. Here are some of the photos and please excuse the lack of quality. It was the best I could do at the time with what little I had.

 Morning Folks!

Flo, Beer Please, Op's, meant Coffee!

Finally starting to feel rested up from this weekend!

Have to be at work at 2:00 PM today so it will be a little shorter day for me. Then I have to be there at 9:00 AM Wednesday, that will be a little hard on me now that I am use to getting up at 9:00.

Far as Larry, well lets just say I may still have to go to H&R about the stuff he is saying to me. Guess now that he cannot lie and cheat the customers, I am the new target.

 See you all later.

Jeffery I like your old layout.

Thanks. The table top and benchwork is the same that I'm using now with a few changes. Next time I'm down there I'll see if can find some photos that were taken after some changes on the two deck layout.

Good Evening Gang!

It´s been a somewhat awkward day for me, as I am still not feeling well. The old ticker is acting up, I will have to go into our local hospital for a thorough check-up on it in the next days.

I did find some time to w*rk on the boat, though. The hull now sports a fancy red and blue coat, with a white trim. I also gave it a coat of clear glossy lacquer. I is now up in the attic, as the lacquer is quite smelly.

Jeff - I like your old layout Thumbs Up

Jeff: Thank you for posting those pics. I never saw that particular layout. You had already started on redoing it when we first met in 99. I remember the redone version without the weeds and small tree limbs and all the flex track and other non-Bachman track replaced with eztrack. It still had the upper level and the tunnel the cat liked to hide in. She took a dim view of the trains running her out as I remember.

***Jeffrey, those old photos are interesting. Still much prefer your layout today. Yes

On top of more painful issues, have also been dizzy today, so not doing much. Laying in bed mostly. Need to get past all this nonsense. Argh!

Good afternoon...

As we drank our last bottle of wine with dinner on Sunday, we made a spur of the moment decision yesterday afternoon and decided to drive up to Seneca Lake today to restore our stock. Made our stops at Prejean's Winery, Torrey Ridge Winery and Glenora Winery when we got up here, and then checked into the Inn about 30 minutes ago, It's a beautiful day and the lake is really looking blue and sparkling. It will be super to sit out on the deck here tonight with a nice bottle of wine and just relax.

I think this was one on the nicest drives up here we have ever had. Basically had I86 all to ourselves, and I know this defies belief, but no construction zones all the way from Pittsburgh. I didn't think that was possible.

Time now to wash up some, then head down to Watkins Glen for dinner soon. Hope the drive home tomorrow is as nice as it was coming up. I think I will make a slight detour though and stop at the Railroad Museum in Northeast, PA and do a hour or so of railfanning on CSX's main line.

Have a good one. Tom

Good Evening

We spent the day outdoors here..and, believe it or not, I ended up with a sunburn..that's right...a sunburn...I look like cooked lobster right now....Black EyeWhistling

Anyways..it was an excellent day to get some yard work done...managed to get the back yard actually usable..ie: got rid of a bunch of branches and twigs and some of the old stumps out of there...

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have the delmonico steak, med. rare, a baked potato with sour cream, and a trip to the salad bar as well.  Oh, a nice cup of decaf would go good with it.  I'll order desert later.

Tom....  You were right in my neighborhood......!  Well, about 10 miles from my house.  One of these times when you make the trip up this way, we have to get together.  I would be very happy to give you a tour of the SLOW and take you both out to dinner.  What?  Dutch treat...  OK!

The Guy was here first thing this afternoon to put up the drywall for the backdrop on the layout where I am rebuilding it.  We got it in place and he put the first coat of mud over the screws and seams.  He will return first thing tomorrow to do the next layer of mud....  Photos later.

Alright, Barry!  Now look what you did!  OK, evening deserts are on me.....  OK a Beer for Ken too.

I was looking at a supposedly safe site today when my anti-virus program started going nuts. I ran a scan right then and there and found three Trojans on my hard drive. All three were safely eliminated. The site I was looking at at the time was about making paper models of historic structures in Illinois.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill for the decaf please.

Brought the camera upstairs and took a couple more photos...  These are of the renovation in the "new" layout room.

Took a couple of the new toy in the old office space......

Tonight is the first time I really did anything with Photoshop since the upgrade.  Didn't take long to learn the changes from CS2 to CS5.1.  I can tell you this machine flies doing processor intensive stuff...  On the old G5 it would keep up with most things, but might take about 2 seconds to save a 6 x 4" photo at 712 dpi...  This one you just click and it has already been done.

Have a great evening!

Well today I finally did it! I got my work table (translates to work areas on layout) cleaned up. Wonder how short a time it'll take to mess it up again.

Evening All,

Well it's not as busy at w**k today but I'm still pretty busy. I will be glad to sleep in a little tomorrow. I will take some photos of the new work on the layout I did Sunday tomorrow.

Jeff- Your old layout looked pretty good to me, and the current layout looks very neat.

Ray- You are going to have a nice area for your layout.

I realized today that all the major things are done on my layout now. Other than putting in a pond and adding people and vehicles, the layout is done until Walther's comes out with their TT. I actually kind of feel at a loss for something to do. Next I will probably work on my coal loads and weathering.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Evening,

Well (thawed, sleepy toads are sitting around it wondering where winter has gone and if it's really "spring" yet or not), I figured since I threw in my half-a-cent's worth of input on a wind turbine discussion, I ought to stop in and say "hello," lest anybody think I'd snub the Diner crew!

W**k has kept me busy these last few weeks with District, Regional, Sub-State and State Tournament high school basketball (boys and girls both) with two Des Moines trips. I've also had a bunch of other "news" projects demanding my attention.

I've been loosely following the going-on's via the take-out window.

Best wishes continue for those in need, regardless of the need. Seems we still have some folks needing a healthy dose of blessings to come upon them.

Hey folks,

I asked a week or so ago, but didn't see any replies...

Anyone got suggestions for where to buy decoders from in the US? I have bought from Tony's and Model Train Stuff. Is there any others worth looking into?

I did some more work on the layout last night. I painted the plaster. As I said a few nights ago I ran short of Hydrocal, so I need to get some more. I'm going to try sculptamold instead, as I can get 1kg bags of it for $25.

I think it was CapeJim who suggested the trestle and other ideas. I'm going to look for some suitable dimensional timber tomorrow night, possibly balsa wood to see if I can get something a bit smaller. I may decide to use plastruct shapes and build a concrete style piled pier.

Thats all for know,
