Afternoon all, as I check in from w**k.  Its kinda died around here as it was pretty busy earlier today.  glad to see the break for the moment.  Football games are starting, so I imagine that things are going to start slowing for the day.

Robby: Glad to see you back in, good luck on the twin jobs sir.  Hope that you can make more trips in and be able to stay caught up.

Sam: Equally glad to see you sir, good to hear that you might be going to a full time deal with the 1:1.  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Barry: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR!  Hope that you are enjoying it even though you're on-call.

Well, guess I'll see what else is happening around here, then probably go back to w**k

Good afternoon folks: Green tea and a slice of zucchini chocolate cake please.

Barry and I'll take the page, as you shouldn't have to on your birthday!...and Todd's Brenda too I see!

 and Galaxy  tomorrow!

back Robby! Good to see you. Sears as in the department store...Eatons was a major department store in Canada as well until they succumbed to competition and an unwillingness to adapt to itMy 2 Cents

Here's an item for all you dog lovers  and / or motorcycle fans.

We have gained a cat since I was last in. Not quite a rescue - the owner is moving back to Witicha soon, ( and wintering in sunnier climes!)  So, Jet, an all black one year old mother of 3 (the kittens have been found homes already)  who we tentatively called "What?" and last night settled on Penny, is trying to overcome the outrage of a move against  her will. Spends most of the day under our bed. Comes out to eat and so on - is litter box trained Thumbs Up Penny,  from Penny Black   the world's first self-adhesive postage stamp, has found the trees  in containers on the floor of the train room to hold an enduring fascination. So I've had to move them up!

Maybe some mrr time today.....

Cheers, John.

 "As I slowly sneak in"......

Well its been a looong time, since I've been in The Diner.

How has everybody been????   I'm doing pretty good.  I'm currently working at Sears, but I just got hired on at Eaton (they make truck transmission).   So I guess I will work two jobs for now.

I'm still weathering, but not like I use to.   I do have the one hopper on WPF that a few guys commented on (and thanks for the comments).

I will stop back in more, and try to get caught up.

Morning all from cloudy and wet Lancaster county.

Ken, I feel your pain when it comes to yard-work, I'll be making time to do a bit of that today, not to mention *gag* working on my cats flea problem later on.

Just got a second hand set of N&W hoppers in the mail and I do love saving oh so much when they lack the original boxes. Plus they were already weathered and most have Kadee couplers and some have Kadee trucks! It had been two kits and two assembled Accurail USRA N&W hoppers plus three Stewart and one Athearn, many are weathered and look fine to me! All for $53 too.

Good morning. It's 59 and mostly clear. The high will be 87 and it will be mostly sunny.

Yesterday I finished cleaning the gears and bearings on the Hobbytown drive and installed a headlight in the top of the cab. There's no room in there for the crew as it is unless they lay on skate boards on top of that enormous flywheel. I may see if I can change out the motor with something more DCC friendly.  I have a modern Athearn motor in mind.

I also got the decoder install done on the Model Power GP9. I had to wrap the pickup wires up good as the drive shaft couplings had a penchant for grabbing them. There's not much room inside the shell even with the small size of the Z Scale decoder. I initially thought of putting the decoder on top of the rear gear tower but the shaft coupling kept grabbing at the wires no matter what I did. I ended up taping the wires down on top of the motor and having the decoder hanging in free space above the rear shaft coupling. I have both of the FX wires (white and yellow) connected to the negative lead of the light so it's on whether the loco is going forward or backward. The blue wire is of course on the positive lead. I thought about putting in a light at the rear but those vicious shaft couplings get in the way again. They manage to grab anything that's near them.

YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY BURNS MY BUTT!!…A flame about this high. (motions about hip height)

Good Morning!! Coffee and some Breakfast casserole please. Thanks.

Happy Birthday Barry!! Cake

Mornin Bill.

Today, I must do some housew**k. I could play with my trainset I suppose, or I could just resign myself to wait until the weather changes and I can do nothing but stay warm. That may end up being the plan.

In addition to Barry, it is also Brenda’s Birthday and she, of course, has to w**k soooo..., I will let her. Hey, it’s her day. Well…, and Barry’s. And..., anybody else who was born on this day. Anywho, I will have to figure out what to do for our dining needs because the elevator will not close until at least 6:30 or maybe later. So, who knows. Guess it’s up to me. Now THAT’s an invitation for disaster.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 OK, furnaces is fix.

Galaxy Lauren told me it could be 3 things on the A/C icing up.

1 Lack Todd, clogged filter, I would not think that in you case.

2 Blower motor spinning to slow, lack of air flow like in the case of the filter.

3 Low Freon. In his case the company he works for charges $52.00 up to the first pound, and $27.00 for every half pound there after. A 5000 BTU A/C could hold up to 3 pounds.

 See you all later.

Diner seems empty and slow lately. WHere IS everybody????????

It's raining Storm, its pouring Umbrella, the old man is snoring

Pouring at a fairly strong steady pace.

Hints of FLASH FLOODING for some areas around here according to weather guesser...like we need more!!!!

Forgot now what all I was gonna share with you guys besides that...I'll remember at 4 am.

Now pouring HARD out there...Oh goodie! here we go again!!!

They are talking {finally } about dredging the rivers and creek tributaries now. It's about time they did that. They think it may stave off some future heavy flooding. COulda dunnit in the last 10 years and would have mitigated '06 and '11 floods!

Problem is for some folks who didn't flood in '06 were denied flood insurance as they didn't fall into the "100 year or 500 year Flood plains". Now they can't get paid for damages cuz they didn't have flood insurance. Amazing. You can't get flood insurance unless in a flood plain, and if in a flood plain, rates are astronomical!!!!

Dunno.

Forgot to call the Restaurant we will eat at for my birthday, which will happen Monday instead of Sunday. MOH works Sunday, so I will do normal household laundry chores on Sunday, instead of celebrating. Need to call to see if they are even open as in area of some heavy flooding, but may have survived or had minimal damage. Dunno.

HAve an MRI of my brain to see if explanations for my fatigue and weakness can be found. My mother {may she rest in peace} would be SO PROUD if they found that I have HALF A BRAIN. She always said she sometimes thought I only had HALF a one!!!!

Well, I guess I should say:

GOOD NIGHT!!!

SLEEP TIGHT!!!

See you in the {early AM}.

Evening All,

Hope every one is having a good night.

I cleaned house today and did the touch up ballasting that I wanted to do. I then figured I hadn't run trains for about 3 weeks so I tried to run my M1-b with a string of box cars. The tender derailed 3 times going over the same switch, of course in the back of the layout along the backdropBang Head. Before vacation I ran it over that switch 8 times without incident. By this time I was pretty frustrated so I just stopped messing with it until another day. I walked downstairs and the fish tank had sprung a leak about 2/3 of the way down on a seam. Thankfully we have tile on that floor. Did I really say it was good to be home?

MOH decided she is going to sew a skirt for my layout on Sunday so I will probably be hanging that on Sunday instead of ballasting.

We just had a scare from Stevie our oldest skunk. She fell off the couch and started crying and was unable to use one of her rear legs. The leg was sticking straight out from the body. We were afraid it was broken. We wrapped her up in a towel and I softly  manipulated it without any pain response. We put her on the floor and she walked off like nothing had happened. Who knows what happened.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good Day all!

Long time since I've been able to get in here!  Hope all are doing well, and prayers for those who need them.

I'm super stoked to be back in here!  I've been away far too long...  Hope to rectify the situation from here on out! Thumbs Up

1:1 has kept me busy... just completed my 'refresher' trips on the Fredericksburg Line yesterday, and running for an engineer who took a personal day today!   Word in the Crew Room is THAT someone is heading back to their previous RR (they were furloughed, and the RR called them back).   This news is GOOD for me, means I will be able to hold a regular job! Cool

Well, time to start the process of getting ready for signup.  Hope to get back on later tonight when I get home...  TTFN!

Jeff ... Evidently, Sundown Shops evidently never has a break.

Nope. That's the beauty of having three eight hour shifts. The shop is going 24/7.

The decoder install for the Model Power GP9 is done. I'm going to have to make a couple of small tunnels to go over the shafts. The couplings have a knack for grabbing wire bundles.

***Ray, you can have some wood from us for that pot-bellied stove. Only catch is you have to come get it.

***Barry, a very HAPPY pre-BIRTHDAY to you. Hope you receive a full size steam loco wrapped up in a 1/2 mile worth of wrapping paper. Not sure where you would put it, perhaps in your front yard!?!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Blueberry Pancakes with real maple syrup (leave the bottle Big Smile), a side order of bacon, and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.  Please and Thank You.  Say, look at the mess at the Rivet Counter!  What, Oh Barry ate there last night and nobody could stand to clean up the leftovers yet......  Is that Barry sleeping it off in the back next to Duke?  Sure wish they could tune their Zzz!

Grandpa has been called to service today....  Son called yesterday to check on my availability to watch the Granddaughters for an hour or so this afternoon.  My answer was, "But, of course!"  I am going over a bit early so we can do some cleaning up outside before he has to leave for w*rk.....  He is still cleaning up from the trees THAT were taken down last spring.  Been one of those summers.

I'll be taking my wood splitter out to the museum for a few weeks tomorrow for the fall wood splitting season.  I guess there is a good supply of wood needing to be split.  It saves the Museum considerable $$$ to have wood available to heat the Depot when folks are out there w*rking.  The old potbellied stove is the only real source of heat during the winter months and although it can use kerosine, we like to use wood.

I have a long list of items i need to get donbe over the weekend and since I will be spending most of Saturday and Sunday out there, I best get at the list now!

Later!

Well, did some grocery shopping. Plumb wore me out.

Also went on a hunt for a battery for the generator. MOH called Lowes and the guy said "oh yeah, I have 5 on the shelf of what your looking for". MOH asked to hold one in my name. Got there this AM and the guy didn't know what I was talking about and wasn't any saved he said. THe battery looked to be about half the size the battery holder on the generator is desinged for. Hmm. It also requires you to put the acid in the battery and charge IT first. SO I didn't buy it as the terminals didn't look right either. Will have to study the generators again when Im not so pooped.

WEll, Hope Jeffrey has fun today installing his decoders....

I am wiating for the furnace guy to show to fix that blasted hole the installer left in the cieling., but I think I will have to call daily and pester them or go in office in person to get teh job done. They will be INUNDATED with people wnating new heating systems before it gets really frosty here what with all the flooding going on....

Later guys

Good morning. It's 66°F and cloudy. The high will be 85 and it will be partly cloudy.

Today I'll be putting installing the DZ125 decoder in the Model Power GP9. I'll have to put a bit of tape on the frame directly beneath the ground connection on the motor as it's very close to the frame. Yesterday I put a new Trainline GP9m shell on my Hobbytown chassis. Hood is just as wide as the 60's era B&O shell and most details (lack thereof actually) are mostly the same but it looks a lot better. With only a very small modification the shell fit perfectly. Today I'll take the factory installed light out of the Model Power loco and install it in the Hobbytown loco. The decoder for the newer unit has a light connected to it already. Other than that I have no plans for today.

Morning All,

It was nice sleeping in my own bed last night. MOH is off grocery shopping since the cupboards are bare and I am getting ready to go get a haircut so I look presentable at work on Tuesday. The house is a disaster area so I will be cleaning for awhile. Tomorrow is the skunk  show we are going to. We are going to take 3 of ours. I really don't care about the judging but like the socializing with other owners. Later today I will try to do some touch up ballast work.

Barry- Happy B-DayCake. Hope you have a great celebration.

Everyone take care.

Running the trains last night did get me out of the dumps. Big Smile That and watching NCIS on the computer. Whistling Ran 3 trains and they where dragging 87 cars around the track, that might be a new record for me.

Good Morning!! Coffee and one of them ooey gooey sticky cinnamon rolls Sue always gets please. Thanks.

Inch- LaughI’ve attended a few of those lectures in the past! Laugh

That reminds me. About the A/C unit. T’was the filterWhistling. Yup and boy did I feel stupid. Didn‘t even checkBang Head.. Had one of those fancy schmancy pleated 3 month jobs in there and boy did I feel like an idiot when BIL looked at it and it was all bulged and sucked in toward the blower. He said “there’s your problem. Clogged filter. You need to change those things every once in a while” I said I did, about a month and a half ago, it said 3 months on the filter. He then told me to not waste my money on the fancy filters and go back to the cheap buck a piece filters. Those pleated jobs clog up and it isn’t the first time he’s been called for the same thing. Unless you need the fancy filter, it’s a waste of money, because I would need my entire ductwork cleaned first and quite frankly, where does the dirt come from anyway? Outside, so with windows and doors that open, he doubts the dirt dust and such only will appear in front of the furnace to be spread around the house by the furnace. Anyway, he said save myself some money and buy the cheap ones, they work well enough and if you do forget to change it, they won’t clog up. And IF they do, they usualy aren’t built well enough to stay in the cardboard frame and will pull out, thereby restoring the air flow. We've ran those filters for about a year now and this is the first time there has been an issue. Besides, if you think you won't have to dust anymore, you're wrong. Laugh  El Cheapos here I come agin.

Well, gots to go. Have a few things to do today before w**k.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
