Good morning!
WELL, WELL, WELL, WELLSBURG a small tow in nextdoor county of Chemung, wants to invoke the "50/50" rule. It recieved Major flooding in the town of Wellsboro for that town only and really little else in the county die to the flooding to even qualify for FEMA aid.
The "50/50 Rule" means that if your house sustained more than 50% of its oringinal market value in flood damage, you MUst stop all reconstruction and RAISE your house off the the ground to mitigate future damages. One couple DID riase their house 5 feet and sustained only basement, backyard and minor damage
I am surprised the town of Conklin, where flood level is like 10 feet, that although after 2006 flood they turned a LOT of conklin into "green space" PER FEMA, {AKA PArks/recreation} that they would invoke that rule there.
OH OH OH OH..RR RELATED-----MOH was in a store yesterday and two men behind were chatting about lack of employees to handle the customer line at the store and one said ""SO you work as a mechanic for the railroad?" and the other said "yeah Canadian Pacific". The first said "so you must work in the COnklin garage". and the second said "Yeah, what's left of it". In '06 the Conklin yard was spared itself {there was a pic of it in the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin of the yard tracks only surrounded by water} }, but the lead in tracks were heaving damaged and needed some repair and dry out. I guess this time the yard did not fair so well??
Well, on mwith my day...some grocery shopping for meat {beef} on sale - chuck roasts and such for just $3.99/lb!!!!...{even hamburger 80% is at $2.99/lb!!! so chuck roast and such is bargain city!!!} I WON"t Stock up like I did before the flood, but will at least get 2 weeks worth! MOH favors beef really well. Claims was fed fish {Cod which I dearly love} and chicken to much as a child...wants BEEF. Uh Uh UH.}
WEll, talk to you all later!
GOOD MORNING!!!

Don't trip,. but have a GREAT FALL!!!
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf.....
Actually got a bit of modeling done today! YES! The roof is pretty much done on the engine house. I decided to just go ahead and make it permanent like the other side. You will still be able to see in through the door of the building and through the windows, especially when the lights in the building are on. Still need to figure out what to use for the roof ridge material. I am thinking some thin styrene scribed down the middle and bent to form the shape of the top of the roof. Possibly aluminum foil? Might react with the roofing material - not sure what it is made of. Paper maybe????? Any ideas would be helpful.
Did a bit more basic scenery foundation for the scene as well. Just putting down some more cut and shaped foam board. I am anxious to start w*rk on the Blacksmith shop.
Galaxy..... You still having problems with Bed Bugs???
Have a great night all!

Evening Folks
Flo, yep and thank you.
Galaxy I have been told several times low freon will cause the AC coils to frost up. I guess it was 8 years ago the one out here in the garage was freezing up. Had it charged and it been fine. My heating guy was out working on the main A/C and he charged the window unit at the same time.
Hopefully he will be out again in the next few days, furnaces won't fire up and I will double check for you. But, if freon cost as much as R-12 (used in the Town Car A/C) might be better off buying a used A/C. R-12 is now like $48.50 for 16oz's.
Been down in the dumps today, may it just the drab over cast weather. Maybe a few and running the trains will help!
ILL Hardest Hit Program Heard back from my rep Marcia today. If it sounds to good to be true? I was told I was approved for the program and that with in 90 days my mortgage will be up to date and they will make 6 house payments for me!
I should be over joyed, but in the back of my mind I just wonder what will poop up and cause it not to happen. I hate to do it, but I need to call Bank Of Somewhat Stupid and see what they can tell me about the program.
Train Front Finally broke down and ordered a Flywheel puller from Micro-Marks. That has been on my want list for all most 8 months now. Maybe I can get some of the new motors installed now.
Will drop my later.
Ken
Afternoon folks!
Flo, just an regular ice tea to tide me over to suppertime.... Thanks.
Curt, sounds like you the CFO had a great vacation.... Nice you have a few day to devote to the layout before being back at the old grind!
Inch, ROFL!
i spent much of the afternoon doing a photo shoot of an octagonal Blacksmith Shop that was built in 1832 by Alfred Hale. It is in remarkable condition for it's age and the fact it has only been used for storage for many years now. The Hale Blacksmith shop will be my next scratch build for the layout. Only major change will be that it will be done in limestone blocks (from the quarry) rather than cobblestone. Some shots of it:
All the photos were taken from public property.... I did sneak up to the building with my hardhat and clipboard and take some measurements so I can draw and build it to scale.........
Catch you later!
Hi All,
Well we finally made it home today. MOH and I had a great time and we lucked out with a really good sea state during the cruise. After 16 years I'm not sure if I would still be acclimated. I still have several days off as I don't go back to work until Tuesday. On the way home I picked up my order of ballast so hopefully I have enough to finish the layout. I hope to do some touch up and the yard this weekend so that will only leave the 2 mains to do.
Everyone take care.

I got my new Walthers GP9m shell today. I was somewhat surprised that it STILL has the old non-prototypical Athearn wide hood. Indeed, with the exception of the front hood and a few vents and the handrails the shell is virtually a match with the old 60's era Athearn GP7 shell I have and is a dead ringer for my Model Power/IHC GP9 shell. How close is it to the old Athearn shell? It fits perfectly on the old Hobbytown drive the Athearn shell was on as shown in two photos below. Also notice the photos comparing the width and details of the hoods. Before I cut the pilots of the B&O hood (1960's model) so it would fit the Model Power chassis they were an exact match for the pilots of the SOO hood (2011).
Here's the Trainline shell next to my GP9S which is the correct width.
Columbian coffee in a STORMY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Thunder boomers here today. Tossed out more kudzu yesterday, so hopefully some of it will take this time.
Tried the ol' hammer on the starter technique with no response. Have yet to find my tester.
Hope ya'll are doing well.

Hello
Got our runnign around done.
Hey CUDA KEN., was it you in a discussion about window A/Cs loosing freon and freezing over? I need to knwo where to get one charged up IF that really is the case and really works! Our BR one has taken to freezing over lately.... the dehumidifier is drawing off a bucket {50 pints} a day, and the LR A/c is NOT freezing over...so??? Dunno//let me know KEN if it was you in a disussiona nd if it really works and where to get it recharged???
TIred as all get out. we were going to stop at grocery store on way home,, but MOH was tired too and that is unusual. so I said "let's skip it". Did all of our other running around AND washed the KIA....it can rain now....
Later guys nappy poos withthe two kitties....
Good Afternoon All,
Aye, there be trees in my living room!
The 300 JTT spruce and cedar trees I ordered came in last night along with some other scenery items I ordered. These are referred to as “econocedars” or “econospruce” they are factory seconds sold at half the cost. Typically the tree is flat on one side or they need some repair before going on the layout. You have to watch dealer’s web sites or the bay to order them. My LHS gave me a 2012 Walther’s Catalog at cost since I order 99% of my MRR stuff through him…
Tonight I will attempt to concrete my driveway drain. Last night it passed inspection on the first try! Then I have the lead tester and window measuring guy coming out.

Zoe I'll have a big blueberry muffin with lots of real butter and a couple cups of THAT famous Dark Roast Coffee you make here!
Just thought I would pop in to say hi before it gets to be lunch time..... Think I just about made it.
Cool but humid here in the Finger Lakes this morning. Currently at the high for the day of 73°F with a humidity in the mid 80% range.
Hope to get a bit more done on the layout today. at least finalize a few decisions I have to make to keep moving on the the development of the SLOW.
Catch you all Later!
Good morning. It's 65° and sunny with patchy fog.. The high will be 92° and it will be partly cloudy.Well, yesterday I resurrected a seemingly partially fried decoder by hitting it with a reset code in blast mode on the main. Before that I couldn't clear it on the program track nor on the main following normal procedures. I couldn't even write a new address to it. The Zephyr would read it but that was about all and the decoder would work for forward but not for reverse. I thought some kind of programming error might be responsible and it appears I was right. The decoder now works properly in all respects and checks out on every test I can throw at it. I plugged it into my Atlas Trainmaster and the loco runs great. In fact I'm going to have to adjust the speed tables a bit as it easily outruns nearly everything I have. I figure if I cut the figures in half (CV2=13, CV6=64, CV=77) it should be about right. That will give it a good startup with good acceleration through the mid-point and hit a believable top speed instead of making a sonic boom while breaking the land speed record. So now that leaves me with a little problem. I still have a DZ125 decoder that can be used on another loco but which one? All those that I rebuilt that can take a decoder without turning it into a scorched corn flake already have them. That leaves a Model Power GP9 and a Bachmann FT. Oh, decisions, decisions.
Morning Folks!
Flo, Diet Dew to go.
Sue has a Dr appointment at 8:00 AM? Boy that guy likes to get going early. Then run down to the energy accents offices. Seems they messed up and all they did was the application for our Gas Bill. Figures it is the one I can afford. They did not do the Electric Bill, I just paid $235.00 Monday and still owe $600.00. So lot more running today.
On the main board read about a Kadee Coupler Box that helps with longer cars on tighter turns part 454. Here is a link.
http://kadee.com/htmbord/page454.htm
Might be useful on a few of my bigger engines.
Well, got to run.
Well, well, well,
MOH is FURIOUS wih me over my "devils advocate statement" form yesterday evening's post. MOH says wants to string the manger up by his privates, cut them off and force feed him them! ANd is FUrious with me for suggesting employees who mihgt have saved then may not have had a place of their ownn to go to!
ANyway, The problem with this flood is that IT CAME UP SO FAST, and BACKED UP THROUGH THE SEWER SYSTEMS. \
I called my othe half 4 times at work on Wednesday teh 7th, after watching West COrners flood on Time Warner Cable TV's' "YNN"- Your News Now 24 hours a day seven days a week" tv and then old vestal road at Jensen and at bridge street between Endicott and Vestal over the river,a nd finally 4 th time i said "IF you don't get HOME NOW, You ARen;t going to,and I don't know what roads you can use to get to your parents" {they are on a well populated hill, but low ends were flooding}. MOH also did not want to leave me alone and stranded at home in case fo medical emergency...
The quick rapid overtake of water was what was the problem...
Oh well, enough of that for now.
We have a lot of cans/bottles to take back to get out 6 cents for, but we understood the CAn MAn got flooded in J.C. There is a little new place in Endicott, but it, too, may have taken water. Dunno.
Well, they say real estate will soar for those selling in higher areas, but drag down in those areas where flooding occured...so we have a double edged sword...also people flooded out are asking aobut new builds...dunno.
Even if we get back into the market in a year or two we won't buy cheaply in the flood plains, but I'm affraid we won't get to afford the hihger ground homes.
Later dudes and Sue...
Have a great one
Good morning, Chloe. Barry said, "Eat up." I am leaning toward those gooey cinnamon rolls & coffee. Thanks.
Today I am leading an easy hike for a ladies group. And yes, it might rain. I am hoping that we will be just south enough to miss the showers. It is sprinkling here.
Not much layout time in the schedule this weekend. Larry's niece is getting married.
Later, Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
HAH!!! I see I got the top!
Eat up guys!!
Everything is alll sunny up here...so far
Got a load of stuff to get rid of out'n the garage then we will attempt to attempt to get a couple of cars back into the garage...hopefully....
Wolfgang: Have a good time at the Fremo!!
Galaxy: I mentioned this thing to my wife about the killed animals ....she things the guy was not thinking at all...I suggest a public dunking would be an excellent idea for him...
Flo, I'll just have a coffee for now please..I'll be at the RC ...
Good Morning!! Coffee and the #2 special please, over easy with extra bacon fried soft thanks. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Ray- What are the possibilities if a skylight in the roof? You know those big multi paned flat jobs. Maybe they didn’t use them in engine houses, but I’d think they would. Especially considering the light issues of the day. Just a thought. I think you did such a fantrastic job with the interior it would be a shame to make limited vissibility of it. Well today is an I don’t know day. Will take it as it comes as if there is any other way. (cough) Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good moring Flo...Good moning all. Just a cup of coffee and one of those sticky glazed doughnuts please Flo....well I haven,t done much to the TT since Monday CMR says my drive motor should be here today, but I,m thinking it will be more like Friday. Today when I get home from w--k I think I,ll at least cut the hole out for the TT. I went to the hardware store yesterday and bought some bits for my Roto Zip jezzs! those things went up on price 15.00 for just 2! anyway I,ll try to get that hole cut and test fit the TT and see just how well all of the tracks leading to my coaling tower, sanding facility, ash pit and water tower line up.
