Evenin' folks!
Just a decaf for me Janie.....
Didn't get a chance to get here and say Happy Birthday to galaxy this morning! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY GALAXY!!!
I wanted to say it so he could hear me.... You know how hard of hearing people get when they get old.......
All you birthday people out there just remember, we don't stop playing (with trains) because we get old, we get old when we stop playing (with trains....).
Spent all day out at the museum for our Fall Foliage running of Diesel trains. Had a big crowd today including a birthday party for a group of little kids (and their parents who seemed to be just as much fun as the kids...)
Ulrich, Hope you are feeling a bit better....... Go spend some time with your trains........
OK, I am heading down cellar to take my own advise! I have trains waiting for me down there!
Later!

Evening Folks
Flo, thank you, nothing to eat BBQing tonight.
We just got back from Alton IL and Sue had a blast. We went through 8 Antique Shops. I go a lot faster than Sue so there was a lot of waiting.
Found a few items that where train related. Did you know that a Bachmann Santa Fe Caboose is worth $8.00? I am rich now that I know that! Found a old BB F7 A in it boxes, steel wheels, metal side frames. While the prices of $24.50 did not sound to bad, there was no way to test it and not a road name I uses.
I now own stock in the Reading Railroad! Found a Common Stock Certificate in one of the shops. It is in pretty bad shape but for $1.29 with tax, what the heck.
Well, grill is lite and so am I.

***Barry, is that a photo of the Munster's house?
***Ulrich, I sometimes feel that way, too. Hope something turns around for you soon.
Going to work on marking out the last fence posts holes for digging out this next week.
Have a good day all.

Ulrich, see what's in my hand? OK, so there's nothing in my hand. Pretend there is. Yes it's a small piece of metal. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated or even expensive. What it is, is a machined key that keeps the crankshaft gear from spinning on the crankshaft. The engine is quite large and powerful doing work keeping that truck running around hauling products for thousands of businesses around the country that supply goods for millions of people. But, without that small insignificant looking piece of metal, the engine will not work. If the engine doesn't work, then all it powers doesn't haul. The companies don't get their products and the people, they can't get theirs either. Companies fold due to lack of sales and more people lose their jobs. All because that small little piece didn't do it's job, or wasn't there. The point is, no matter how insignificant, or small you think your part may be, hold your head up, don't be ashamed or upset, or down because you don't think you are doing much, it's more important than you think. You may not realize what you are doing, but to someone, it is important. Chin up my man....you matter.

Thanks, folks, for bearing with me!
I have been trying to keep smiling for the last two years, hoping that there will be better times coming, but I know have to realize that, despite trying numerous different things, they just won´t come anymore. You know I don´t go for riches, just a plain and simple, but mostly undisturbed life, a place for body and soul to rest and neighbors who are not just the folks living next door, but friends, but maybe I am asking too much.
I know I will get out of the dumps, but it´ll take some time.
Good Morning All,
Made it back from Canada in good shape. Back in the shop yesterday and today to catch up paperw..k and get some bits made for the Audi race car.
to Galaxy and a belated to Barry and Brenda.
Ulrich - hope you are in better spirits soon. I look forward to seeing what you can do with the houses you won.
Robby and Sam - good to see you back. Don't be such strangers, ok? Robby - my friend used to be a machinist for Eaton and had some lurid stories to tell about the plant. He did think the equipment they turned out wasfirst rate though. Wonder how much of it is still made here vs Asia?
Hope the reat of you are doing ok and hopefully I'll be back to some sort of regular (at least for me) schedule. Only problem with the Canadian trip was the laptop catching a virus and burning down the files to the blue screen of death. Haven't even started sorting that out yet. CUL, J.R.

Morning Dinners.
Not a lot planned today expect take a on line Aptitude Test for the Select Numbers Job. I hate those test, I never seem to do well with them!
Wife wants to do something fun today. So guess we are going to take a drive up to Alton IL. It is pretty up there, and this time I am going to take the camera. Lot of train stuff up there.
Ulrich While I don't know what got you down in the dumps today. I do know how you feel. We are both the same age and facing the same lost feeling. After have a good career for 20 years with the same company and making a above average income and now not knowing what lies head it will get you down.
I will be back later today for some of the .
Morning All,
Just sitting here reading my Emails and going through the forum. I think I am going to try to start ballasting after that before MOH gets motivated to do the layout skirt. Next week I need to figure out the problem with the switch before starting to ballast the mains. It may be the wood crossing between the rails is too high that is just before the switch, I had that problem in a different location.
Todd- Happy Birthday to Brenda. Sorry the meal was below par. It sounds like Brenda has the same birthday counting years as Kathy.
Ulrich- Sorry you are down in the dumps. .
Everyone take care.

Sunny this morning with the ever popular chance of those t'underin'boomers today...
A kind of, sort of busy/not so busy day day today...depending on what transpires today....
Have a couple of questions here....
1-Has anyone used pinstriping to do any stripe work on their locomotives? How easy was it to do?
2- Does anyone have any photos of GP-7's with oil marks on the edges of their hatches? I have a couple of those I'd like to try my hand at here...
Flo, I'll have a coffee and a breakfast bagel please..I'm heading over to the corner booth to BBBBLLLLOOOOOAAAAARRRRRRTT!!!!...... whoopie cushions....again?....

Not to much planned today. Church this morning, and watch some football later. Maybe try to get by the gym later.
I start the new job tomorrow. Well the training part, and then move to 2nd shift next week. I'm going to be working in the shipping department. Eaton makes transmissions for big rigs. So hopefully this job works out for me. I've had Sears since May, but they are only giving me 10 hours a week. I can't pay bills on 10 a week!!
I will pop back in later, and have a good morning.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GALAXY
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Good morning. It's 70° (21c) and cloudy. The high should be 90° (32c) and it should be partly cloudy. Not much planned for today. I have to adjust some CV's on the H24-66 as it still displays a tendency to break the railroad land speed record. Entering a lower number for CV 5 should tame the top speed. CV 5 is currently at 77. This thing must have a hot rod motor in it. On the default settings it almost tries to burn the wheels off on it's way to warp two. My curves and track work don't allow for that kind of speed. The crew wouldn't be able to hold onto their coffee cups. It's also time to start work on the patching of the Soo GP9m shell. After it's patched I'll dirty it up a bit.
Evening folks, been doing a little bit of work on the layout and a lot of cleaning of my layout area.
I'm 90% sold on taking the plunge into the realms of DCC. The NCE powercab is probably going to be my choice.
Currently I only have about 10 locomotives to convert, with most of them going to be easy it appears as they are new kato releases.
I have two proto N GP38-2s and two older Atlas Dash 8's which may prove a bit more difficult.
This thinking has arisen because i've just wired my newly expanded 4 track yard up and of course with a roundy round layout there is continuous supply to all tracks, and I really don't want to go to the effort of wiring it in blocks just to convert to DCC soon anyway.
Better go to bed, w*rk tomorrow.

Hey Robby! Glad to see you back. I did see your WPF post. You haven’t lost your touch.
Ray- Brenda has been happily 29 now officially for 20 years!
Took Brenda to Applebees last night. Terrible. My food was not very good. It was not the restaurants fault, I just did not like the recipe. Bland, tasteless. Should have known never ored Cajun anything unless you're in Jeff's neck-o-the woods. Never tasted Gumbo like this. First thought was runny refried beans when I saw it. Tasted like canned meatless chili over rice and the Andoullie sausage was chopped so fine... well, the couple pieces I could actually taste tasted more like Polish sausage to me. Steak was actually pretty good if they left that soup stuff off it. Brenda’s was cold. I don’t mean nit picky not blazing hot cold, I mean it was room temp cold. We had to wait a long time, way longer than we should considering there were two tables that sat after we did, one after we ordered, got their food and had left before we got ours. They were busy so we didn’t complain about the wait, but her food actually felt like it had sat on the counter for about a half hour. And not under a heat lamp either. Nor was it appetizing to look at. The waitress brought a manager (we did not ak to see a manager, Brenda just told her it was cold and she said she'd be back with a Manager. Insisting, especially since we had been there so long in the first place) and he apologized, they made her another in about 6 minutes, he brought it out, it looked appetizing (obviously so. The other looked as it it had been on the floor. So it wasn’t just reheated in the micro) and it was hot. We thanked him and ate away. The waitress, brought our bill and the manager comped our meals. Just charged us for the appetizer, which was good, and our drinks. I told her we didn’t expect to not pay because we received a meal and ate it. Especially mine, I had no complaint about it. Well except for the taste, but that’s me not the restaurant. Can’t expect to not pay for something just because I don’t like the recipe. Just won’t order it again. Anyway, they insisted, so, cheap date. I tipped on the entire cost the meal would have been of course, because unless she dropped mine back there and they had to make another, mine was hot, and hers was cold but, on a warm plate. Figure that one out. Anyway, she was young (aren’t they all any more) and her name was Ruth. Good Biblical name. Not too common amongst young folks these days. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She can’t control what happens in the kitchen, she just hears about it and suffers gratuity wise. Of course they also benefit if the kitchen did extremely well too. All part of the job I suppose.
Not much planned for today except to cough. A lot. Maybe I should try that Mucinex stuff. At least my sinuses are not swollen. Running like a faucet without my drugs (tried to do without yesterday so I suffer more today for it) but my sinuses are clear. Got THAT going for me. I do need to buzz our yard down. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll….nah, the day is too young to know what I’ll get into. Might just nap. Stop in at the 'Bay first I suppose.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Morning Gang,
I had a few quite miserable days, but I now slowly start to get and feel better. I again had to bury a couple of dreams, which proved to be a little too much for me to bear. Just a couple of more scars on my little soul.
I missed a few birthdays, so here is a big to all who I missed (Barry, Galaxy)
Good to see that Robby P. and Sam are back to the Diner - I hope you folks show up a little more frequently now. Been missing you!
Nothing new on the MRRing front these days. My order of Japanese houses has not yet shown up, meaning that they are out of stock and won´t arrive for at least another 2 months. My prize for making 1st place in the JNS forum summer project party will be shipped in the next days, guess, what it is! Two boxes of typical Japanese houses, that´s 12 little, old fashioned Japanese buildings! That should cover the next two modules. I only need to get a temple building, the one I´d like to have is a little too dear in terms of $$ for the remaining budget.
Have a good time & blessings!
Good Morning to you too Bill, and all the other Diners,
Happy Birthday Galaxy, hope your day is a good one!
Robby, nice to see you in the Diner again.
Even if it is morning, time for me to say Goodnight.

Evening all. Just stopping in for the night before I go and do a little laundry, then bed. Got a pretty busy day tomorrow as we've got church, then a bridal shower for our pastor's daughter, followed by a church meeting that afternoon. Amy wants to squeeze in swimming between the shower and meeting, so we'll see. If I don't do it tomorrow, I think I'm going to try to weather my Dash-8 tomorrow, see if I can do a "little better" job on making it just look dirty, not as dark and oily as my SD40-2, so we'll see also. Also trying to convince Amy to make some peanut butter cookies....hope that it'll work out too!
Well, guess I will head and do my laundry stuff.
.....oh....a to Galaxy!!!!...a little early...I know but I might not have the time to do this in the morning!!
Hi Gang,
After a leisurely drive and some sightseeing along the way, we arrived in Springfield Mo. last evening and found all well here with our Son, and Grad school going well but very busy.
Slept in this am, had a great brunch my wife whipped up for by Son and I. Then out and about.
With the Micro-mark and Walther's order waiting for me I didn't intend to buy anything else while down here,,, BUT,,, I ventured into the LHS only to find a large box of Scenic Express Super Trees beckoning to me to take them home with me. So, who am I to second guess some Super Trees ?? They are now in the back of the HHR. and waiting for planting on the LM&E. Then we went over to The Main store of Bass Pro Shops in America. MAN, it is bigger than some of our complete Malls back home. What a great experience. Of course I has to pick up a new cap and a couple of T-Shirts.
I want to buy a round for the whole Crew here tonight to help celebrate the BIRTHDAYS of BARRY and GALAXY. So RBFs all around, make that doubles..
We have some work to do here at my Son's home early next week and then we hope to get down to Branson for a couple of days. We'll take in some shows that interest us and have an all round good time.
Will check back later, hope you all are well and health is on an upswing for all.
Keep smiling ya all, it looks good an ya.

Evening All,
Got back a little bit ago from the skunk show. The 3 we showed all got ribbons with 2 getting best in class (age and or color type) so we are pretty happy. Another plus was it was only a 20 minute drive from home instead of having to get a hotel like previous years.
I am still going to try to do some ballasting tomorrow but may not be successful. Last night I ordered the Walther's Roundhouse and 3 additional stalls. The stalls are set at the same 10 degree spacing as the CMR TT. I will start building it after I am done with ballasting.
Galaxy- Hope you have a great birthday tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good night.
Thanks guys for the birthday wishes! OH, and Todd...give my birthday wishes to Brenda as well.
Seems all things have been kinda quiet..had a bit of yard work that needed done...dang lawn needed cut....
Robby: Good to see you here sir!! A real long time no see! BTW...is Eaton involved with tree skidders as well? And that hopper does look cool!
Chloe, I'll have a coffee for now please..I'll be at the RC for a bit.
Evening Dinners
Flo, OK, OK you know I want a Beer.
John Thanks for posting the link about Dog. It put a smile on my faces. Remind me of Muff, my first American Eskimo, she went ever where with me including cars shows. She would sit / stand behind the steering wheel with her paws on the steering wheel like she was driving.
While I had Muff I all so had a German Shepherd named Madison name after the street I picked her up from. She had been hit by a car and left on the side of the road. Anyway, Madison was not real good about coming when I called her when I let them run in the field next to my old house. So I started leaving a shot led on Madison when I let her and Muff run. When I was ready to go in, I would yell to Muff Get Her! Muff would run her down, grab the short led and bring Madison into the house!
Rob P Hope to see you show up more her in the dinner, we miss hearing from you!
I will drop by later, I have waiting on me.
I had Fish last night, so i am setting here and was thinking what to eat tonight.I guess the wife wants Mexican so i guess i will get a Mexican hamburger.I just finished cleaning the layout roon and notice some boxes of tank cars next to the basement wall and when i picked them up the boxes were soft so i cleaned a shelf off and that is were i put them,i tell you what i wished that sometimes they will stop making great stuff because i am running out of room to put cars and locomotives.
Russell
Afternoon everyone!
Flo, just a decaf to hold me until supper time. Thanks!
Happy Birthday Barry! Todd tell Brenda Happy Birthday as well from me. And..... A most unequivocally Happy Birthday a day early to Galaxy as well. So..... Brenda is 29 this year???
Robby, good to see you sir! Loved the weathering in the WPF thread!
Took the woodsplitter out to the museum this morning. The one thing I didn't take with me was a full gas can.... 1.) I think the one I have is almost empty (or is empty) and I didn't have a chance to fill it up yesterday. 2.) The tank on the splitter is empty. Guess what they were completely out of at the museum? You get 3 chances and the first 2 don't count. I didn't get to split any wood today. At least it is out there and well chained to a huge tree next to the wood pile and padlocked so it should stay there until I come to get it.
They have a Boy Scout Troop out there last night and today doing a service project at the museum. They got to sleep in the cabooses last night and seem to be having a great time doing some cleanup along the line.
I hope to spend some time this evening w*rking on scenery at the quarry tonight.
Catch you all later!
