Me again,

after a hearty nap, I started to work on my station module. Gosh, how tiny those N scale figures are! They kept flinging off my tweezers, making me get down on my knees and searching the floor. Got all of them back and now they are securely glued to the platforms. What an improvement!

I also worked on the little city scene on that module - here is a quick shot at it:

Still lots of details missing, like a fence, power poles and - lines and other, not yet identified thingies to make it look real nice.

Jeff - great picture of that gon!

Ray - my Washington State Driver´s License has expired on March 31st, 1975 - I guess a simple renewal won´t do in this case. Here in Germany, you don´t have to renew your driver´s license, it´s valid for life. Not really a good thing, as a lot of older folks should not sit behind the wheel any longer. My Mom still drives the car, but there is nothing I can do to stop her. One of my big worries!

Too early for supper, yet - Janie, how about a cinnamon roll and a mug of coffee, please.

Sue - I remember a Danish bakery in Poulsbo, WA, where they had the best cinnamon rolls in the world!

CUL!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a couple crullers and my usual dark roast coffee this morning.

Garry....  The inspection doesn't bother me one bit.  Helps keep some death traps off the road!  I've had a couple times where a real problem (brakes usually) got picked up and resolved long before it became dangerous during the yearly.  What bothers me is that as of this morning you don't have to be able to see to renew your NYS Drivers License. Surprise  You have have to say you can see, but nobody has to check to see THAT you can see.......  They already go 8 years between renewals and we have quite a lot of the 80 - 90 year old crowd who shouldn't be driving speeding along at 15 or 20 miles an hour using the white line down the middle of the road to know they are straddling it........ I sincerely hope when I start driving that way, a friend or family member will take the keys away and keep me from behind the wheel.  There have been several incidences of "Little Old Ladies" missing a stop sign and driving into someones living room across the street this summer.....  (Some deaths involved too.)  One a couple days ago drove her car into the dining room of a family restaurant in the Rochester area.

Lee, the only news i have seen about the Hojack Bridge is what has been in the Rochester news, and several emails from members of the museum.  You probably know more than I.........Whistling

Sheesh....  Must still be half asleep... Done went and hit the post button accidentally.  Duh!  (Take my keyboard away please....)

Galaxy, hope you folks down in the Southern Tier Hills stay high and dry!

Have a great one!

Good morning. It's 74°. Today: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms. Hot. High 93°. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%.

Nothing on the schedule today. I don't feel any better than I did yesterday except that I'm not so cold. I might do some cleaning up on the layout.

I remember specifically a little red mustang all sweet and cocky. Was pretty embarrassed when a stock four door, basically Buick LeSabre buh-LOO him away.) with a 430.

Couldn't be any more embarrassing than it was for a guy here with a with a shiny new '06 Mustang GT getting blown off the line and flat outrun by a '94 Buick Century. Poor guy couldn't have known the Century had a cop built engine and a Cadillac gearbox. Getting parts for that Century was fun. Struts and shocks for a Century wouldn't fit it. It used struts and shocks for a Riviera. CV joints and axles were big and heavy too. Most of the time I just wrote down the part number and got whatever it corresponded to. That thing was built plain weird.

Good Morning!! Coffee and some breakfast pizza please. Thanks.

Boy, I wouldn’t have thought anybody missed that last round of website to browser compatibility threads. Guess not.

Partly sunny, with a high near 70. It’s drizzling now. Maybe later.

Equinox…sounds reasonable. My sleep has been altered suddenly other than those three nights. Last night was an all nighter for me at least, so that’s backYes, but I wake up every 40 minutes to an hour. Go back to sleep, but 40 minutes to an hour later, I wake up. This has been going on for just shy of a week.

Lee- Yep, that’s what I’d do. Change them filters every month regardless what the package says. That makes more sense than what they claim. Especially if the material is more dense and it traps more stuff, it would only stand to reason it would clog up sooner. It did cross my mind at first, but I figured they knew more about it than I did.

My problem with the filters, I suppose, was the reason I got them. Or I should say Brenda got them. I am not always a monthly filter changer. Sometimes the month gets away me and then two months… then I realize I need to change the filter. I figured these would be the ticket. Wrong. Oh well, No allergies and we didn’t notice any change in dust accumulation so…

Ken- Nope, I have to w**k on Tuesday nights so no NCIS (the dogs). HOWEVER, thanks to CBS.com, I shall be enjoying the show in just a few minutesBig Smile.

I don’t like watching movies and TV show on the computer. Don’t know why, I just don’t.

Yup, been there too. Had a 1967 Buick Widcat (don’t laugh. Some people did. I remember specifically a little red mustang all sweet and cocky. Was pretty embarrassed when a stock four door, basically Buick LeSabre buh-LOO him away.) with a 430. Books said it wasn’t a ’67. "430’s didn’t come out till ’68" they'd say. OK. You got me. It’s a ’68, now give me the part. Ahhh…I liked that car. Fender skirts and all. HAH! Got beat by grandma’s car with FENDER SKIRTS!!!

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

I wish they'd move the delete selection away from the edit selectionGrumpy.  Just wanted to pop back in and say fender skirts got beat plenty of times too, more than won actually,  but even they said it surprised them how quick it  was considering the size. Still looked cool. Posi-trac and smoke rolling off both back tires on a boat like that. Those were the days.

Good Afternoon Gang!

It was only a short day at the STALAG today - prep work for next week´s exam. I left early because I hardly slept last night. Got up at 3.45 am and could not go to sleep again. Now I am dead tired and will try to get a nap on the sofa.

I hope my sleeping issue will go away soon (have been hoping for that two years now), as I am pretty much worn out these days.

Galaxy - hope you´re staying high & dry again!

Ken - I am feeling for ya, buddy!

Have a good one!

Mornin'

Here we go yet again!

RAin, Rain, go AWAY!!!

There is a *Flash Flood Watch* in effect until 8 AM THursday for our county, and the surrounding counties!!!

It WASN'T so much the flooding that happened last time, it was the tremendous FLASH FLOODING that lead to the sustained FLOODING!!! I mean in a space of 3 hours on the 24 hour Time Warner cable local news channel I watched first West Corners flash flood to several feet of water and called MOH at work to mention it, hten a second phone call when they showed Old Vestal Road at Jensen being flooded rapidly and a 3rd phone call when the other end of Old Vestal Road flooded rapidly, and the 4th phone call...I said beg off and COME HOME  or you WON"T GET home!!! NAD MOH begged off the manager to come home as did many others. APparently after that the manager went home himself and found that almost the entire Town was flooded!

People have been getting very nervous {or noiyvus if you are from Jersey} every time it rains here!!! Now there is real cause for worry as the strom is circulating around and around and dropping much rain on us!!

We do expect some "bits of dryness' but the waters will contimue to scale down form the hills and could cause flooding again in areas already hit hard.

Hopefullly THAT wont happen again.

All those who believe in prayer pray the rain goes to Texas where they NEED it!

This IS the wettest year we have had by 5 inches of precip.

Whew!

If I disappear for a few days again it will be becasue I got flood surround again and the power station {which they just rebuilt most of apparently} is STILL in the flood zone of Castle Gardens! The generator is NOT safe for "sensitve electronic equipment like TVs or computers" without a "current controlling device installed by a Certified Licensed Electrician.....whatever that is!

Well, happy rails to you!

Have a great day!

Evening all, just a stop in before I head off to bed.  Did not do a thing today aside from go to the grocery store and pick up some much-needed stuff to go in the fridge and freezer.  Tomorrow is truck day at w**k so I doubt I'll be able to do a whole lot then either, but that's all right by me.

Robby: Glad to hear that you started your new job, and while yes, the shift would suck, but as I've said before, SOMEthing is better than NOthing.

Ken and Jeff: I've been in that boat before.  Now whenever someone tells me they've got something that either the book, or the computer doesn't show as being in there, I ask them either what it came out of, OR I go look at it.  In no way am I going to tell a customer "No, it doesn't" when I know very well that people can make some serious Frankenstein cars.  (not saying that either of what you two mentioned would be considered Frankenstein by me, heck I know they were in them).

Well, I guess I'm going to head off to bed now, later taters!

Already ate toooo many chips & salsa, so just a glass of water please.

Truck = 1999 2500 Chevy longbed pickup. It was a basic service truck we bought used years ago. It's just a well used old farm truck now.

Walked through the train room tonight. Need to work on cleaning it up before I can even think of working on the layouts.

Moved one gate today and did a little fence work. Tomorrow will be pulling more posts day.

Have a good night all.

Curt ... I meant to tell you  I like the layout pictures you posted yesterday.

Rob .... I bet you are tired of digging all of those post holes. I hop you did not find an "post turtles" while working on that project.

Bill T.... Which one of those cars is yours in front of Rosie's Diner?

Ken ... Sorry. I did not want to sound like a know it all about the T-1.

Ray ... I'm glad we don't have annual inspections here. So are some of the drivers of the older vehicles.

Happy Model Railroading, everybody.

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a decaf please.

Meeting tonight was short, only 4 of the dozen or so members were able to make the meeting.  Got some ideas and direction for the programs we do and have a good start to the year.

Tomorrow I have to take the truck in for an oil change and yearly inspection....  Hope to can another round of string beans as well.  Have an appointment to visit a layout tomorrow night.  Trying to talk the owner into opening his layout for our Fall Meet in the Division.  Need to nail down all the loose ends this week if possible.

Think I will turn in a bit early tonight.... Could use the extra sleep.

Later!

Evening.

Well, I've been looking for a opening at all the railroads around me, no such luck. Went to my counselor today and well, had even worst luck there.

Main reason I went/got called in was I wanted to change my classes up. But I can't do that because its too late in the first semester (Filled out my call slip about two weeks into the school year) and I can't transfer in second semester because I "Am going to be lost"

Pah. its vocational auto, what ya do in there is polish and refine skills learnt in intro to autos. Besides, I want to work on diesels (heck, I got a friend's air compressor that needs the fuel pump replaced.) so I'd basically take timing, basic layout of an engine, and a few other things and toss things like spark plugs.

If you can read this... thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english... thank a veteran

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer

If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer

If it's broken, get a hammer

If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!

Evening all.

Sorry for my prolonged absences. Time just doesn't exist for me. Between homework, college applications, hockey twice a week, and everything in between, it's hard finding time for anything.

In all honesty, nothing at all exciting has happened since I was last here, so I won't bore you guys with any stories.

However, there has some progress in MRRland. On Sunday, between tasks, I made a stop at the LHS. Not a whole lot of interesting stuff, so I got an Atlas Trainman Railbox. Yesterday, I got my Walthers order in. It was for three Platinum Line plastic pellet hoppers and 50 trees from Busch. The cars are beautiful, and the trees are so-so, but you can't beat the price (50 trees for 30 bucks). Since I'm on a budget, and I don't have the time to sit around and wait until I have enough money to go crazy on fancy trees, they will have to do. They don't look bad, they're just not... great. But I can live with that.

Other than THAT, nothing else of importance is going on here, so I'll shuddup now. What's new with you guys?

-Joe

Concrete ties have been dropped along the Lackawanna Cutoff up to Brooklyn-Stanhope Road, with final placement and rail installation hoped to be in the near future. No ties have been dropped north of Brooklyn-Stanhope Road, but it is believed that the crossing will be installed and track installed north of there in the relatively near future.
This is one of very few cases where a rail line has been abandoned, only to be reconstructed over 25 years later.

Making a pizza (well a frozen one), so I thought I would drop by.

Today was my first day at the new job.   It was pretty good.  The department I'm in, is very easy.  Just put some gears in a "tote", and slide the tote into a cleaner, and that's it.   The bad thing is..... After my training, I go to the 11:00pm to 7:20am shift Sad

Other than that, same ole... same ole for me.

 Hope everybody is doing good!!!

My wife 88 T/A would do the same thing, everything would work fine except it would not crank over. It was not till it was hauled to the dealership we found out her key computer chip was bad.

Over all I have had a pretty good day Must be the caffeine buzz, drank a lot of coffee. Have a few things to look forward too. Should get the flywheel puller in the next few days. Have 5 NCE decoders coming. I all so have another Santa Fe Warbonnet F A unit coming.

OH NCIS Tonight! I know where Todd will be!

Good afternoon, DIners!

Ken ... THAT T-1 is a PRR T-1, and looks great.

Each railroad had its own Class Designations for steam locomotives.

A CB&Q T-1 was a neat looking little 2-6-6-2 that worked on Burlington's Deadwood Branch in South Dakota during about 1910-1950.

I'm "paving" streets around Union Station.

Cheers everybody.

I hooked up a 100amp charger/booster and there was still not so much as a click. I could pull and check the battery, but wouldn't the 100amp assist have been enough to compensate if it was a weak battery? Lights are fine with just the battery.

If it's a newer charger/booster the answer may be no. The new ones won't put out power unless they detect a battery. In some cases the battery can be damaged and the charger won't see it. I don't know if it happens much with car batteries. I've had it happen twice with tractor batteries.
