Cederstrand Still frustrated over the Onkyo receiver. A friend suggested I have it fixed and sell it on the used market, then look for something more basic to power the surround speakers. Have five 6ohm speakers and a sub sitting dormant again.

Hope all had a safe and wonderful 4th ! We went to BIL house and we saw the BEST FIREWORKS I have every seen. They pulled two barges out on the Cheaspeake bay and fired off the fireworks from both at the same time-I have never seen anything like it. There were at least four of five exploding at the same time sometimes ten or twelve fireworks exploding at the same time and it lasted at least 30 or 45 minutes. Then we had some of my MIH famous Md roadside chicken - yummy - did not get back home until 1am. Thankfull did not have to work today.Slept better part of morning.
Jeff - do you have the fire deptarment on standby for THAT drink ?
Chris - you may want to get the medic bag out for THAT drink of Jeffs
Howmus - wrote down your recipe. MIH told me she would make it tomorrow-but no peppercorn-
Ulrich - where did you find the German version? Where was that published ? I found that very interesting. My very distant relatives came from the Palantine/Switz area. Early 1700s they came to America. Some of them may have read THAT .
Evenin' folks!
Janie just a tall glass of unsweetened Ice Tea please.
Hope you all have had a great 4th. of July. We celebrated the day at my son's house. Some hamburgers:

Well he was until he tried to put ketchup on her popsicle....
My two favorite little girls!
And lots and lots of fun! No fireworks here though. We still had lots of fun!

Accu-Weather weather data shows minor storms all around us but none over us. They're east and west of us heading south. Bunches of light and medium green with very little yellow. There's scads of yellow and red up in north Louisiana. I hope it doesn't make it down here tonight. WAIT A MINUTE!! WHAT THE HECK AM I SAYING!! OF COURSE I WANT IT TO COME THROUGH HERE TONIGHT!! If it's pouring rain there's no fireworks!! Come on rain! Get down here!
Evening Folks and Happy 4th!

Work Front Well about what I expected, only 3 customers all day. Only good news all 3 bought but still a weak $1800.00. Barry (owner) let me close the at 6:00 PM. Hum, last customer left at 2:45 PM. Oh well, got to play guitar.
Speaking of Guitar. Delivery guys all most gave me a stork! I talk my wife into letting me bring the Les Paul in today, and we know how Paranoid she is about someone stealing it. I had the Les Paul and my knock off sitting in the storeroom when the delivery guys came. I was with a customer when they came, and pretty much had to let them have free rain (is that right) of the backroom. When I got the deal, the guys had all ready left. I went in the back to grab a pillow for the customer AND THERE WHERE NO GUITARS TO BE SEEN! I went straight to panic mode! Went back to the showroom white has a sheet and said The Guitars are missing! Kathy and Mark looked like I was nuts. Went back in the stock room getting ready to call 911 and I saw the guitar power cord going into the bathroom.
Opened the door, and there they where, thank goodness. Dragged out the Les Paul so Kathy and Mark understood why I was in such a panic. Guys where just trying to be careful, or they where messing with me, not sure which yet. Last thing in the world I want to do is to explain to Sue is THE GUITAR WAS STOLEN AT WORK JUST LIKE YOU SAID IT WOULD. Don't think I am going to take it again.
Galaxy and Jeffery Thank you so much for the time you spent posting about my A/C question! Reason I was hung up on the smaller unit besides cost? I have a 5000 BTU in my garage that is 500 square feet and it keeps it pretty conformable even with a none insulated garage door. But you guys are probably right, I will look to see if I can come up with a used larger unit.
Todd I think I finally got it. While I knew the strings are up side down (High E is on top) all it does is show me the notes, not the order I need to play them in, Right? I think I got it finally.
Gnat's War I think I am starting to win. Checked the bowl of Vinegar and Dish Soap when I got home and found around 150 dead soldiers floating around. But, did not make a dent in there numbers, they where still bivouacked this morning like I thought. Bought some spray from Lowe's that said it killed Gnat's and I started nuking them when I got home. While it took around 15 X times more spraying than the can said I needed to do, finally I NO LONGER FEEL LIKE THE BATTLESHIP ARIZONA ON DECEMBER 7TH 1941. I still see a stray here and there, but nothing like it was last night.
See you all later.

Rob need some stereo gear? I have a few things that might work for you. Some is audiophile grade, and some, well being a purest it makes sound. How many watts do you need? I have a 150 watt a side Sharp Amp I really don't use.
"Chris - you may want to get the medic bag out for THAT drink of Jeffs"
Sorry Pally, nothing in THAT bag THAT would do JEFF or anybody else any good...it's been converted into Rerun's travel bag! Inside the former medic bag is: water/food dish, a Hedgehog and a spare leash. Before a trip, a bottle of H2O and Zip-Loc bag of doggie chow is added.
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Evening! Bottle of 7-Up please 'n thank-you.
Well (neighbor's cat puked up the toad THAT was floating in the well...) The Wife and I went to Tipton (Iowa, not BILL's Tipton) for the 4th of July Parade. Not bad, the red tractors out-numbered the green ones and Stanwood's new (new to them) rescue/pumper was there as well. Only two poly-ticks: the local congressional poly-tick and a state legislative member. Both w**ked the other side of the street...litterally! I was proudly wearing my "Sick of Spending" T-shirt in hopes THAT the congressional PIA would happen along and get a good look at it. Oh well, there is always next year.
I 'spose, it's about time to head for the front porch. We can usually see at least some of the bigger fireworks from Mechanicsville, and sometimes some of Tipton's. As clear as it is, with surprisingly low humidity...we might even catch the biggest ones of Olin or Oxford Jct.

YGW - "Der Pennsylvanische Staatsbote" was a German language newspaper. German settlers came as early as 1683. They were mainly Mennonites from the area around Krefeld, which, IIRC, formed the roots for the Amish folks. I may be wrong with that, though.
On July 5th, this newspaper was one of the first papers to report on the dclaration, and it published the text on the 9th.
Jeff - your recipe for a lemonade "Cajun Style" sounds interesting. I bet this drink separates the men from the boys ...

Good Morning All,
61F and sunny again today. Got the yard lead incline in last night. Starting to reconcile the differences between the sketches and reality.
Galaxy, Best of luck at the torture chambers dentists today.
Ulrich - thanks for the history lesson and our continuing prayers for you and your parents.
Jeff - whether it cancelled the fireworks or not I hope you got your rainfall. From what I read, you need it almost as badly as Paul.
Just about dead on my feet after the weekend but once we get through the trip to Quebec this week, things will taper off for a bit. I still have Lime Rock and then Pittsburgh after that, but not with a dozen cars so the anxiety level is way down. I'm not running at Pittsburgh this year as well since it's under new management and I want to see how it's run before I risk my car but I have clients who do want to go so there I am anyway. Our season is going really well but you're only as good as your last race. Too early to look at the standings in the series we run but we have a bunch of wins and podiums to show and very few machanical issues to date.
Time to get back to it. CUL, J.R.

Pretty good day yesterday. No MRRing so it weren’t perfect, but not bad. Didn’t rain and the BBQ went off fantastic. Me? Oh I just had a couple hot dogs. Oh and a couple plates of other stuff. They were some big dogs!
Jeff- Thanks I’ll try that soon. You’ll know when I do…..
Charlie- Happy late Anniversary!
Ken- Well, yes it shows the order in which you play the notes, left to right, what it doesn’t show is how long to hold, or, in many instances, where there is a rest. Though I have seen some, where they did include rests. Small favor, but if you’re not familiar with a song….it still doesn’t really help. It will also show you bars. (at least all that I've seen) But if you have more than the appropriate number of notes, you have no idea which are 1/16th, ¼, 1/8, or can’t remember what those little dots are called to hold a note longer… (been awhile since I had to call the stuff by what it’s called. A loooong while)
Ray is tight. (ahem....…I meant “right”) Traditional notes are the best way to learn a song. Actually, without outside assistance, the only way to learn a song and expect it to sound right. Now the advantage of Tab is that on the guitar, there are what? How many middle “C”’s? 3? 43? Off the top of my head I’m not sure. The same of course with the other notes. And with that, there are quite a few…oh…uh…”voice-ings”? (not being musically educated as some, and rustier than an old nail left out in the rain for over 30 years on what I was taught, please excuse my lack of vocabulary to express what I mean. Hopefully you will understand) a guitar can make for the same notes, or chords (if Tabbed. The chord charts of course reflect that) that change the overall sound. Those locations can’t be reflected with just notes on a staff. Only one middle C there. Plus, saves those 58,000 little lines above the staff. (I always lost track of where I was until I knew the song). Also, you don’t have to know how to read music to play Tab. Though personally, I didn’t think learning to read music was difficult at all. If you can associate the fingerings in Tab, you can in music. I’m no expert and like a language you can always learn more, but it isn’t at all difficult to learn to read basic music. What may be difficult, is what they represent on any given instrument, but really, a D note on a staff is the same as a “0” on the third line from the bottom on Tab. Or a 5 on the second, or a....well you get the idea. After a while for either, it’s just symbol and location recognition anyway. Very rarely will you say to yourself while play, “D”, or “E”. You will just pluck or fret the appropriate string and eventually that is what you will associate either with. Not a note, but a location. Now all that being said, Ray or Tom will come along and prove me wrong on the traditional notes on a staff for guitar. I never claim to be the all knowing. Someone always knows more and I from time to time am wrong. Unlike my wife. What you do get with staff and notes is it’s a ¼ note in 4/4 time and all the rests. Basically, the music. Clear as mud?
WOW! That was longer than planned. Wat longer. I best get outta here so someone else can get in.
Galaxy- Good luck at the dentist today.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Hello folks, I haven't stopped in here for years. Today I decided to stop by and see what's up. Being into Home theater gear I couldn't help but notice this post.
Rob, does your receiver work without any connection, audio or video, to the satellite? Somehow I feel like it's your satellite and not the receiver. Also, do you have the option to run the input without any added processing? On my Yamaha it's called "straight mode". All the receiver should be doing at that point is amplifying whatever signal it's receiving. I could be totally off base even commenting on it, I just thought it sounded fishy.
Good Morning Fellow Dinners!
Flo, a bowl of Frosted Flakes and glass of OJ please. I take the Dew too go.
Gnat Wars. All most Victory! There are a few left, but in way more manageable numbers. I bet I used about half of the can of bug spray but well worth it.
Rob I will take a look at the gear I have left over from my Quest for perfect sound days. I think I still have a couple of tuners, amps and preamps. Plus I will need to make sure the stuff works, been sitting for 10 years now.
cudaken Galaxy and Jeffery Thank you so much for the time you spent posting about my A/C question! Reason I was hung up on the smaller unit besides cost? Ken- be aware taht in finding a used unit you may get an older less energy efficient unit!!!! I would see what you can swing buying new with Energy Star label on it!!! That way you know you will save electricity over an older less efficient uint. If all you can afford is a $80.00 5,000 BTU Energy Star unit, maybe you SHOULD get that at least it will help a little, You can always get a larger unit next year. We paid $300 some odd for our 12,000 btu unit at the height of the HOT season when our other one {10,000} conked out. BUT our 12,000 BTu unit is also energy star and has "energy saver mode" on it which cycles down the unit periodically. This time of year we let it run on regular when we turn it on when temps reach 72* in here, then let it run and it keeps an average of aorund 70* for us. We didn't have a choice in the matter it was what was available 4 yrs ago and it still serves us well today. We knew a 5,000 btu unit would nto cool the LR and the Kitchen, so we adopted the 12,000 unit. We were looking for a 10,000 unit, but 12k works for us.
Good morning ....
Oatmeal and OJ, please.
Glad to hear so many of you had a good 4th of July.
Ray ..... Nice family pix!
We're not getting younger and there are those with dental problems. Galaxy and Ken have theirs, and I'll wish them the best.
Meanwhile, my teeth are troublesome to say the least. It's bad enough so I thought about dentures, but for now it's one major problem after another. I'll be at my dentist again tomorrow morning. I'm looking a bit like a KY redneck with missing tooth as I drive my pickup truck. All I need now is a UK baseball cap.
On the layout, I will continue adding to benchwork for my streetcar line to be installed in the near future.

Todd, you pretty much nailed it about the notation for guitar. Playing classic guitar there is really no such thing as being able to really sight read many pieces of music. There are so many possible ways to play some things THAT the fingering, position, and all that has to be worked out as you learn the piece. Often something THAT seems to work fine will find you stuck without a good way to get where you need to be 4 or 5 measures down the road...... Also different fingerings and positions will give a better tone and fluidity than others. A classic guitar artist will have to take time to try many different ways to play some phrases before deciding exactly how it can be interpreted best........... Man! I've got to get THAT axe out and get to w*rk again.
I'll be heading out to Boy Scout camp this afternoon to get more done cleaning up around tents. Probably today and tomorrow and i should be done. By THAT time my own lawn may need to be cut.... On the other hand now THAT I have a new lawn mower, it has stopped growing.
TSF said, "I'll be in the corner booth listening to my Iphone trying to read Hunger Games. I hate it" Then why are you you doing it?
Catch everybody later!
Good Morning All...Its sunny and 74 here...not a cloud in the sky...I'll have coffee and a sweet roll please...Thank You....Planning to do a little track cleaning and dusting on the I&S...Hope youall had a good 4th....You all have a good one...Jerry
Good Late Morning,
Hot and humid today again with a heat index around 100 F. At w**k again today so no new modeling news. It was not as busy yesterday as I expected so that was good news. A co-worker brought in Lasagna and Blackberry Cobbler yesterday so that was excellent even if it was not traditional. We watched the Boston Pops and once again they did a fabulous job with the patriotic music. I was thinking last night about our 200 year celebration. It is hard to believe it has been 35 years since then.
Jeff- That lemonade sounds good except that I know my acid reflux would make me wish I had not drank it, so I will have to stick to the unleaded version.
Ulrich- I am glad that your Mother is doing better and that it appears they understand the need for assisted living.
Prayers for everyone and their families in need.

Jeff ..... I wish your troublesome feet were made out the same tough material as your stomach!
At w**k again . To much to do .
Gotta keep it short today.
Jeff - I know how to cure your ankle- stop drinking THAT drink. Its causing your bones to melt !
Galaxy - good luck with the dentist.
Stan !!!! Its gonna be a loooooooooooong week waiting to see THat N&W painting
Ulrich - Still praying for your parents. Thanks for posting the Declaration - really neat! Where is Krefeld? My family has a letter where our distant relative had written to the Prince of the area they lived and requested permission to come to America. One of the spellings of their last name was Guetner or something close to that. Once in America it was changed to Goode, Good, Goodner etc...
Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.
***Ken, thanks!
***Corey, it's definitely the receiver. Have had trouble with the video part from the start. This last time I had the HDMI/video set to "through", so it was basically being used as a sound amp. Still, something decided to blow. Have the tv hooked up directly to the satellite box and that works fine. (wish it had been the satellite box)
Wife is going to help me work on the fence today.
Have a good day y'all.
Aw, nuts!
Since t he infection is down and it isn't draining nasty stuff down the back of my throat anymore, the dentist is delaying finishing the root canal til friday. all they did today was take inpressions so an extra clasp can be added to my upper partial plate so it stays in better. Friday he will have more tiem and we will all show up early to do the job cutting into lunch hour for them. FFriday I should also get my partial back with an extra clamp to hold it in place better. He would have been a bit rushed today if he tried to finsihse the root canal and we don't want THAT>
SO the good drugs are running out.
