Anywho-

Good morning all! I will polish the RC while I wait for someone to show up.

Have a dental appointment for a filling tomorrow. I cannot wait as even the heavy duty drugs are not working at suppressing the pain of 3 weeks now. Its in a bad spot-etween teh teeth. Its getting so now I ccnat eat or sleep because of pain! Even the pain deadeners don't work.

WEll, I should get onto some outdoor work before it gets to hot again!

Good Morning

After some excitement of the wrong sort Tuesday evening...something about chest pains again..I found that my defibrillator did, in fact, kick in on Saturday...and the chest pain that I got on Tuesday was a delayed reaction from said shock...yes, my heart got bruised..Laugh

Anyhow..I have to check out the 5 plus pages you fine frustrated novelists left me!!

Oh, by the way..yesterday we reached 99F and our heat index reached 114F...today? 78F and cooling down ...

Good Morning,

Garry, just planted a blueberry bush last month in my back yard, still waiting…

Simon that servo is an interesting gadget.  Sorry to hear about Kellsie…

Curt, I’m sure the girls are better looking at the Orlando show than the Cleveland show.  OH you mean finding a GE 44 tonner… I knew that’s what you meant…

Pounding thunderstorm this morning and more on the way.  Yesterday was our 3rd day over 90F, the humidity was so thick you needed a knife to cut your way through it.

Morning! Hot decaf tea for me, please.

As said, laid the first ground cover. I have not seen it dried yet, I will do that in just a minute.

Have a good day.

Back in again,

Still a warm one here this morning in Southern Ontario but a cold front will be moving through later this afternoon and come much cooler air ( and Thunderstorms ) with it. not much planned today as I did the lawn mowing and gardening yesterday, If its not too warm out I might sit on the patio with a cold drink a flip through some magazines.

 Morning Folks

Flo, I take a bowl of Frosted Flakes and a O J Please.

Ulrich The plan is pretty simple and I will post later today, I am still half asleep this morning. I all so need to see if I can get my old photo program loaded on this computer. One of the reasons I have not posted any new pictures.

Far as the Guitar Amp I have pretty much talked my self out of the $197.00 one, I really don't have the funds to spare. Plus wife is trying to talk me out of buying one. I don't know, I really like to have one I could leave at work. Adam has a used Marshall at Guitar Center that I can get for $60.00, plus I saw some small 10 to 15 watt amps at the pawn shop yesterday I could probably pick up for around $30.00.

Train Front I got the PRR M1A out and running again. Yea, I am getting hooked on steam again. This one does have a lot of hours on it. When I first got it would pull around 30 freight cars, it is now spinning the drivers on a grade pulling around 12 to 15 cars? But it is running and I am happy.

I will talk with you all latter today.

Good Morning!! Coffee and huevos rancheros please.

Wow! Hard to get a word in edgewise with Bill just carrying on like that. Laugh

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. About ten degrees cooler today than yesterday.

Didn’t get all the porch done yesterday, but the floor is so that can be done. Just have to do the outside then it will be done. Don’t know if I’ll do that today, or waitWhistling.

Realtor called last night as I was fixin to head downstairs to the trainroom for a bit of me time and asked if we were available to come to Mom‘s house. He had a couple out that had been there before and had some questions about the house. Good questions. You know, the type questions a person would ask if they were actually interested in purchasing. Don’t know if they will, but they really liked the house and the location. I think they will make an offer at least. May be lower than we‘d like, but at least someone is seriously talking about it now. Another return couple is coming again today. Ya never know, we may sell this thing yet.

Jeremy- Sorry to hear of the job loss. Hope you enjoy the time off and are able to find work before the severance runs out.

Ray- I don’t know how you got any work done on the Engine House without falling asleep right in the middle. Aren’t little kids great? We’ll look back on the things like that and laugh and smile fondly in a few years. But for now, we need a nap!

Today, other than w**k at 5, I don’t know what I’ll do. I refuse to plan as things don’t end up that way anyway. My day will be as haphazard as can be. No structure, no plans just ….oh, I have to put up the washer and I still have to go to the bank and a couple bills need paid, the blades on the tractor need sharpened and the high speed needs raised and the yards need mowed again and the back porch needs painted and the north side of the house needs de-mossed and Mom’s window well drain needs dug and……

Indifferent  I can NOT believe Barry. Posting that picture. I bet some poor farmer in the ’20’s spent all week convincing his wife to get up on the tractor and pose so he could take a risqué picture for fun. Promising her over and over, night and day that no one would ever see that racey picture of her but him. She probably spent the best part of that day fighting the giggles and shyness making him swear forty-leven times he wasn’t gonna show his buddies. Little did she know 90 years later……Embarrassed

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!Laugh

Mornin' everyone!

Holy Cow! Zoe, what is THAT infernal racket in here!  I can't hear a thing over it....  What???  You can't hear me because of the noise?  Say THAT again, please!  Oh, it stopped.  Why are all the lights out now?  I see, Ken brought in his 2,000,000w Amp to show us this morning!  Blew the main power supply?  You know he has the same problem at his house with the layout.......  Anyway how about a couple eggs over easy and an order of sour dough toast....  Can't toast bread without power...  Sure you can.  Just hold them over the flame for a bit, they'll toast up great.  used to do THAT camping years ago.....  Oh lots of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please.

Somebody warn me if the power comes back on so I can put on the hearing protection....Whistling  BTW, what is Bill all wound up about this morning?

Ulrich and Todd, you know I should make a diary of all the times with the granddaughters....  Great idea!  Never guess what I get to do today?  Oh, you guessed...  I get to watch granddaughter #2 for much of the day, then have to pick up #1 at nursery school at 2PM so my son's can go out on a wine tour......  (Actually, I would rather watch the granddaughters than drink wine these days!)

Barry, how did you get THAT photo of my Granny?  Grandma would rather be out driving tractors or a team of horses, or milking cows any day of the week rather than clean house.  Can't blame her, so would I.  Is THAT a McCormick Deering 10-20?  Maybe a 15-30?  Could be an ancient old Oliver as well.  Hard to tell in the Photo.  We used to borrow a neighbors old McCormick 10-20 to run the belt on the silo blower.  I actually got to drive the thing between farms when I was about 7 years old....  Talk about a hand full to drive!  Didn't have none of THAT power steering on them old girls, I tell ya!  Real speed demons too!  Top speed in 3rd. gear was 3 mph IIRC.  The 10-20 was the first tractor I actually started with a crank.  Dad taught me the proper way to hang on and give it a turn.  I was very proud of myself when I first heard it roar to life, and I started it...  Muffler?  Ah, refer to Ken's amp....Smile, Wink & Grin

Guess I best get a move on.  Today will be another busy one.

Later!

Good morning. It's 81° and sunny. The high will be 92° and it will be partly cloudy.

Despite yesterdays 50+% chance of rain we didn't see a drop. The work at the fire station was put off until today so I may go there later to see how they're getting on with it. Other than that I really don't feel like doing much today.

Good Morning All!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this sunny Thursday other then we had a doozy of a thunder boomer to roll through here early this morning.

Well we're a week away from our first open house and all is ready as far as the C&HV is concerned.Since its been in the 90s the past 2 days I elected to stay under the AC and do some soul searching on which way I want Slate Creek to go.Today I plan on changing out the couplers on my newest SW1500 to KDs and maybe watch a railroad video..Speaking of videos I rented the remake of "True Grit" and all I can say is Hollywood destroyed a classic.Jeff Bridges will never make a "Rooster Cogburn" he just doesn't have the finesse for that crusty old Rooster like John Wayne had.

I shall have a cup and look over the forum.

Have a good'un!

Ken, buy a jar of Bull Frog Snot, I love it, it really works!

Todd, here I thought the tractor picture was from the first Snap-On calendar.

Brakie, it woke me up at 0430 this morning with all that Donner and Blitzen, but we only got a small amount of rain out of it.

Good afternoon everybody! This is my first visit to the diner even though I've been on the blog for a few months. 90 degrees here in western New York, but I decided to work on a couple of projects this morning. Here's a painting I've been working on for a week now, a classic Erie K5 pacific with the varnish in tow:

Here's another look with a couple of books used for reference:

Once it's finished, I can get back to my decal project on old blue box Athearn boxcars:

I was tired of the same old brownish red paint scheme, so I gave it a new look. Check out the conductor performing a balancing act! Oh well, time for a burger, fries and a coke.

If you read the earlier posts, they will explain how this place works. You chose the worst time to post. The person on the top of the page "pays the bill". Don't worry, I'll take care of it for you this time.

Stan - that's an impressive painting your doing. Please be sure to post a photo when your done. I think you have nailed the look of the metal so far. I know nothing about art, just what I like. And I like that.

I haven't been doing much in the way of railfanning on the weekends lately. Either the weather was rain, rain and more rain, or some family function was happening. Now the summer season of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera has started. As the wife has had season tickets for years, I'm expected to drive to, attend, and then take her to dinner at a nice restaurant. I really don't mind though, as the music and talent are usually outstanding. This past Sunday was "9 to 5" was great.

This morning was another glorious day in the land of senior citizens. That's right... I had the pleasure of an colonoscopy. What a wonderful adventure. Actually however, it's really a snap. The hardest part is getting past the diet restrictions. I was starving when we got home. The physician recommended another in 5 years. I told her I will probably be senile by then, so don't make an appointment for it right now and I will get back to her later.

It'shot here in Western Pennsylvania right now. 88 degrees and very humid. Good day to stay in the house with the air conditioner and read the forums.

Everybody take care.

Aren't those so much fun? It would be nice if the prep you have to drink tasted better. I've been through two and I'm only fifty, well 51 in July.

Afternoon All,

It's in the mid 90's here. It has clouded over with black clouds but no rain. Did chores around the house and finished painting structures on my layout. I recieved notice today that my back ordered items have been shipped and I should recieve the terminal strips tomorrow. I think I am going to see the movie Super 8 tomorrow. It looks like some kind of Sci-fi/Horror movie. Going to IKEA tonight with MOH to complete the bay window project Saturday.

Lee- At my stage of life, trying to do anything with a young good looking female other than looking would probably kill me.Crying

Stan- Welcome. You do great modeling and the painting is awesome.

Chris- That was a great video. It is always good to see people trying to preserve rail heritage.

Since reading the weather forecast this morning (0% chance of rain) it has gone up to a 10% chance and it sounds like a thunderstorm is coming. I do hope we get some good rain, not just a short little sprinkle that leaves a few spots on the windshield.

Well what a day.

Jeffrey- we got your rain in the form of thunderstorms that crashed through here making it even more humid. I don't know how you southern people stand the humidity where you are! Of course if you are not severely asthmatic like I am, or sweat like a stuck pig greased up for County Fair days at any temp over 70*, I guess maybe it doesn't bother you.

Ominous- Yet ANOTHER empty building - a warehouse this time, 4 stories tall- burned down in Binghamton. There have been several fires in vacant buildings lately with no power or gas service to them. THings that make you go HMMMM.... HAmpered by the humidity and heat the firefighters didn't bother to try to get inside as the building collapsed.

Went shopping for a BBQ with friends this weekend we host...spent $101. and change, but saved $41 and change, so spent only $60 for BBQ stuff and other groceries. Old fashioned style..chix, hot dogs, hambugs and mini steaks..take your pick have as much as you want along with coleslaw, mac salad and Pot salad {POTATO NOT what you may think!}, regualr salad.

Couldnt forget- This time I reemmbered to pick up the "Good Life Recipe" Cat Food Treats. Our 2 cats go absolutely CRAZY for those treats. Munchie meows for them {she rarely speaks} and will get up on her hind legs to pull my hand down to eat out of my hand...she rarely does THAT. Cuddles usually turns his nose up at treats...but He scarfs these down. I have to have MOH help me distribute them as they are "kitty sharks" circling me greedy for those treats!!!! They come in CHix, beef, pork flavor OR catnip flavor. AS crazy as our 2 go for real catnip, I can't wait til MOH is home to see how they react to the catnip ones!!

Well, now that the Tstorms are over I can turn on A/c again...we never risk it being blown out by t-storms. Been there, done that, bought a new model.

 Evening Dinners!

Welcome Stan, and some nice art work there. Do you sale them, or just personal use?

Flo, I take car of Stan's tap this time around.

Ray You don't have to worry about me blowing any fusses, but I can still make a racket.

Bought a Girly Mon Amplifier. Grumpy It is a Line 6 amp, so a half way good make. (so I am told) It has a 15 watt head and a 8 inch speaker. To be honest, the only reason I bought it is because Guitar Center has a 30 day trial period, if you don't like it you can exchange it or get your money back.

Reason I want a bigger amp is not because I want to play loud at this point. But a bigger speaker system normally has a richer sound. I was very self conscious when I audition the amp. There was a 15 year old boy just ripping the heck out of Led Zeppelin, so I did not play it much. Has a lot of effects like flanger and such. Will play with it for the next couple of days and see if I can get the sound I like. Just hope the big old Peavley is still at the Pawn shop next week.

Lee I know about Bullfrog Snot, I am just wondering why it now pull like a lite weight now? When I got it, it pulled so strong it cracked 2 center gears in the first 2 years? All the cars still seem to roll freely but I added coal loads to the cars after I had them at NMRA weight standards so they are a little heavy.

Duke While I am not a full dresser kind of guy, still a nice Gold Wing. (guessing they are still called that) I have had 10 bikes and 100,000 miles plus on them. This is my Favorite Bike, but at last it was stolen. Crying

Ulrich and Mail Box Buddy's Box #2 is on its way, Customs # CP891667354US and was told it should be there in 6 to 9 days. This one cost $44.00 in shipping, what where we thinking, shipping Rocks to Germany! Laugh But, there is a lot of goodies in this box! Big Smile

OK, here my idea for making the folding legs. Last Modules that are still sitting on the desk, in stall two bolts on the edge that points to the edge and use washers to fill the gap between modules. Drill holes that a line up with the free standing modules.

Make a X shape braces that folds in the center. One leg of the X legs will go under the front module, one will go under the rear module. Then make a bar that locks the X Legs in position. You should be able to use 1 X braces per 2 modules (front and rear) but you could use 2 if you like. With it being X shaped and supporting 2 at the same time, the spread  X legs should give you some stability.

Make notches or blocks that the X legs will slip into so you don't have to bolt the legs to the modules

Think about it Ulrich and give me some feed back on any short coming that you might for see.

Work Front Shaun in the last 2 days as not sold a thing. Things are not looking good this month at all, only $3800.00 in sales for the store? Plus there is a meeting this Saturday, I don't think they will be handing out Bounces (Bonus Smile, Wink & Grin) at this one.

See you all later, question is will I still have a job.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, just a decaf for me at the moment......

Ken, Just playing with ya....  From a guy who used to hook my Classic Guitar to my little 3200w @ 4Ω JBL Pro Series front end (house) system.....  In my classroom at school sometimes....Big SmileWink

Teen Steam, Nope don't play any of those guys even though I love their music....  I'm more of a Carcassi and Guiliani guy.  I have fooled around with some Andalusian Folk music on occasion as well...Whistling

Stan, welcome to the diner!  Nice to have you on board and great work you have there.

Spent most of the day watching my two favorite little girls.  They were very well behaved today except for not wanting to leave the Rec Center where the oldest has her preschool.  They are allowed to both run the length of the gym and then come back when my Son picks the oldest up.  They decided to not come back over to Grandpa and just run around.  I caught them both, picked up the little one, kicking and screaming, and told #1 to get her little self over to the door, put on her sneaker she had kicked of or ELSE.  Neither of them have ever heard Grandpa when he is really ticked!   They both decided it was in their best interest to follow directions, and got in their car seats without any more problem while I gave them both "What For" in Basso Profundo!  The ride home was very quiet.  After that the day went very well.......Smile, Wink & Grin  Actually Grandpa had a lot of fun playing with both of them today.  Livy (#1) also told me that "Mommy" was really mad at her last night for not following grandpas directions....  Slow Learners I guess.  They both are very "independent?"

It's time to play, Spot The Looney!  While sitting at my kitchen table having dinner tonight I watched the guy across the street out watering his trees and shrubs.....  Now granted he has a lot of flowers and plants that he has recently planted.  we are not talking about THAT.  He was running lots of water on the large shrubs along the front of his property that have been there for years and the 40' tall tree in the front yard...  The watering need here right now is low to moderate........  This is the same guy who I have seen mow his lawn twice in the same day.........???  "It is as bad as you think, and they are out to get you."

Have a good one!

Evening guys

Been painting 36 HO scale chevy citations today. All of the different colors went well except for the light blue when I tried to clear-coat it because the clear coat crazed the paint. I have 1 tri-level rack, and a friend is selling one, so I'll be able to use all of them.

Ken, Have you checked your PMs / conversations? BTW, would a car amp work for a guitar? I have a 1000w here that I can't sell.

Curt, Progress looks good.

Chris, The video akes me want to borrow TSM's jeep or NERM's truck with a Leslie 3-chime and go through the old Cascade Tunnel and try it. (can't think of a closed BN tunnel off hand). Or I could try it with a CNW horn and try the rail-to-trail by my grand parents.

Stan, Nice painting.

Lee, There's a blueberry busch in my yard. but the critters usually get to them before me.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
