Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with lots of real butter and you can leave the real Maple Syrup right here at the table.  Oh!  I DO need a cup or two (or maybe 3) of some freshly brewed dark roast coffee this morning.

Currently 85°F outside here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  Going up to around 92°F later today......  and it's only June!  Glad I have both air conditioners up and running.......  I have to go over to my son's house right during the heat of the day.  The girls and I may be outside under the shade of the trees in his yard for the time grandpa is there.....  They do have a window type air conditioner, but it won't fit in any of their windows.  All the windows in the house are the 1950s style crank out ones.  Hopefully they will be upgrading to newer and far more enery effiecient ones withing the next year or so.

Ulrich!  I would help you but, "I know nut-ting"!!!

Somebody said ALCO (yes they are known as honorary steam locomotives...)?  Hers one:

Old Kodak #9 on the right.  RS1

How come no one has asked for a GE?  Like this 45 Tonner?

Hope everyone has a great day today....  Stay cool!

73

[edit]  OK, Jeffrey!  I see you pushed me to the top of the page....  No problem.  order up folks.  BTW Jeff, I have for some time stopped trusting anything like SpaceCrook, or Tweeter, or Tooter, or any of those social disease type places on the internet.  They want way too much info, and once you are there, even if you disable your account, they still have all kinds of information about you.  You can't remove your personal information once they have it. That is why if the police want info about anyone for some reason they just go online....  all kinds of "free" stuff there that the Government can't release or even collect about you without a court order....  I fear corporations much more than the government!

Good morning. It's 72° and partly cloudy. The high will be 96° and there's a 50% chance of a couple of afternoon thunderstorms.

Nothing much planned for today. Yesterday I went to the fire station to help take down part of the inside of the station to make room for the new truck being brought in. It's a bit bigger than our old pumper truck so the stations a/c unit (Florida heat pump) and it's duct work had to be moved back and four feet had to be shaved off of the restroom. Oh well, we didn't need space for a washer/dryer and a shower anyway. My job was to help pull nails from the boards that were pulled out. I showed the chiefs two sons (twins) the best way to do this and working together we kept up with the tear down crew. Today they'll be rebuilding the front of the restroom in it's new location. I might go and watch.

Simon Did the Servos come from K-10?Do you have a picture of the servo before it was installed?

Nope, it came as part of a kit from Tam Valley Depot  http://www.tamvalleydepot.com/products/singletservodecoder.html

There are photos of the servos at this link,  The one I got was the same as the blue one in the first photo.

Afternoon All.

Supposed to get to 93 F today and dry. We may get some rain this weekend. I just completed teaching a BLS Healthcare Provider course for some members of the department. Now I am back on shift.

With all the pic's of PA's I will have to post mine tomorrow. I have installed a trainphone on the PA unit.

Jeff- That is a great looking PA. I like the paint job. I also like the difference in size with the wheels by Ezra's.

Simon- That is very smooth operating. Well done.

Ken- We kept the Duster for another year.

Chris-The car looks great.

Ulrich- Good to see you. You actually look pretty close to what I had pictured, but I have lived there before.

Lee- We have a show here in Orlando the begining of August. Hopefully I will get lucky.

Everyone take care. I will try to check in later.

LUNCH!

A barry-sized bacon cheeseburger and a gondola of fries and a diet doc. thanks

Ken- you can fix engines but you just can't fix stupid

Just fixed the tailgate on my dad's truck. Handle was all rusted up and wouldn't let the latches catch. Some loose juice (PB blaster, I love the stuff) on the handle and some time freed it up nice.

For those of you with Facebook accounts, may I suggest you take a look at THIS! I've already disabled this 'helpful' feature on my account.

Glad I don't have a facebook account. DOn't like it, never did and never made one. Based solely on what I have read/heard on the news about it.

ANd ditto for twitter too...

Hazy, hot and humid here. 87* downtown, 92* on our porch. we are going out to eat tonight when we drop off the Kia {yet again}. that way I don;t have to cook and withstand heat too! We have a coupon for buy one get one free entrees and we have coupons from our train nut friend from Christmas to pay for teh other entree, so except tip it be freeeeeeee....can't beat taht. I think I'll have the roast chicken or parmagiana something-or-other as MOH doesn't like chicken much {we had chicken the other night and MOH "aw yuk". I said we haven't had chicken in awhile> MOH said "we just had it a week and a half ago!" {Like THAT was SO recent!} MOH complains of being fed chicken "so much" as a kid. Wants BEEF all the time. Well, I get tired of beef too! I love chicken! ANd parmagiana anything MOH gets heartburn from so doesn't like it. ALso fish MOH doesn't care for...claims fed to much also...every Wed cuz it was Wed, and then again on Fri during lent as good Catholics.....

SO I order what I want...and can't really cook at home cuz MOH doesn't "like" it....

ALl I can say is TG for A/C!!!

WE were going to look at ahouse today but we and our agent decided to hot to....a stuffy old closed up house on lock box...probably quite warm and stuffy inside!!!

Well...back to my How the Universe Was Made program....

Some sad news.... Parents are not supposed to bury their children. Today, a beautiful 21 year old, engaged to be married this fall, lost her battle with cancer. Kellsie fought very hard for 5 years, went through the roller coaster of remission, clean bill of health and recurrence more than once. Her parents, friends of ours, have been unbelievable, volunteering their time to help others throughout this ordeal. Heaven is a better for the arrival of Kellsie, but if you are so inclined just say a prayer for her and her family.

Her Mother wrote this last night in her Caring-Bridge blog site

"Please keep Kellsie in your prayers tonight!

Kellsie continues to struggle with her breathing and I am praying for comfort and peace for her right now.  Sweet Dreams my Angel!"

A link from happier times  http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=541663

She did not wake up this morning.

Good Afternoon!!! Nothing for me thank you, I’ve already eaten. On second thought, I will take a large lemonade now that I think about it.

Been pressure washng the back porch so Brenda (or meGrumpy) can stain and paint. Now I have to get more gas, hit the bank and take my daily trip to Mom’s. Then back for more washing, then hopefully, some train time.

Ulrich- Glad you told your parents. I know what a decision it was. I took care of my Mom and though exhausting, is rewarding and something we just feel, and rightfully so, we have to do. I would do it again if given the opportunity. But really, I had no health issues as you do. To be blunt, you would be no use to them back in the horsepiddle……, or worse. In the end if something happened to you and it got out that by doing for them caused the situation, they would not forgive themselves. Of that I am sure. I believe you made the right decision._ Yes, I knew you might look like that. You participated in the last “let’s show everybody what we look like” party. The accent though, you got me on. I recall you saying once you didn’t have a heavy German accent, but don’t recall the British reference. Mine, I’m told, is a cross between Texan and Midwestern Hillbilly Arkansas. Whatever that is.

Galaxy- Suck it up ( the teasing that is) and get a Cowboy hatCowboy. Make sure it’s a straw and is vented. You’d be surprised at how well it works. Keeping the sun of the neck and the forehead is the main thing for me. Now, that is of course, barring someones intolerance of the heat which, as you may be, will make any type of hat irrelevant other than for sunburn. If you’ve ever had heat stroke or heat exhaustion, your best bet is as you say, just stay out of it during the hottest part of the day.

Simon- Sorry to hear about Kellsie. Her family will be in my prayers.

Can’t find my Air Conditioning thermometerSigh.

Facebook. Yup, I’m on itConfused. But only to keep in touch with my classmates and a few old friends who have moved away. Yes there are those who are not classmates but I don’t consider myself a Facebooker. No one cares when I sneeze or when I bathe except the dog, and truthfully…I don’t care when they do.

Welp best get back at it.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Been there, done that and bought the HAT! I have 2 woven basball caps, one "panama woven hat" and a "fedora style woven hat". The panama and fedora styles are "air conditioned", but have shielding in the brims and the very top for sun shield, the baseball caps are just "air conditioned" allowing air to pass through.

I also saw on TV some years ago a neck wrap that you get wet and tie around your neck to keep you cool. It has this "magic gel" stuff in it that whne wet with cold water absorbs it and keeps you cool for a long time till it dries out. Saw it at Walmart in the camping section and bought two. Don't knwo where the other one is as MOH didn't care for it. but I know where mine is to use if needing to be out in heat for awhile {like at Steamtown}.

HEY! WE finally got a Harbor Freight Tools here! No more need to go to Scranton to get tools there! Onliest thing is it is in a building across form Sam's Club that for whatever reason, nothing has lasted more than a year.... so I hope it isn't another flash-in-the-pan store! No advertising but int eh sunday paper with an 800 number to call...we wouldn't have seen it if not for detouring aorund and going by it. DIdn't know we had one or when it moved in.

well we ate out. I had Eggplant Parmigiana. MOH doesn't like eggplant so I never buy it...MOH is a very picky eater could live off steak and noodles every day. I like variety. Of course, MOH does like seafood so had calimari. I am allergic to shellfish and don't like other seafood except for fish. ANd then only certain kinds. SO MOH orders seafood/shelfish whne out, I order sonething MOH won't eat. WOrks out ok I guess.

 Evening Folks!

Thank you sweet heart and I will take a Big Boy Sub as well as the Beer

Had to take Sue to the dentist today, boy that was fun. Then she stuck a straw in my wallet and sucked some cash out! I swear it is like taking a 6 year old out, can I have this, can I have that, I am hungry. Every time I take her out, she needs fast food junk. My blood sugar is low, I need to eat?

Guitar Fever Yep I got it again! We now have to guitars, The Less Paul will stay at the house because we all know when people go to Mattress Stores they are really looking to steal a guitar! Whistling  So I have a Less Paul Knock off that I can leave at work. Now I am looking for a amp I can leave at work.

My habit of wanting more power is still there. Found a 200 watt head amp with two 12 inches speakers at Guitar Center in Greenwood Ind. It is a $799.00 amp on clearances for $179.00. Sucker weights 65 pounds! Big Smile It is in for repairs (had a problem on the floor) and will find out latter if it is fixed and can be bought. Adam, my daughters boyfriend works for Guitar Center in Fairview Heights, and is looking into it for me. Like I need a 200 watt amp again. Big Smile

Team Steam Far as trying to fix stupid, I try every day at work.

Simon For $19.99 or what ever I get the decoder and the Servo? That sounds like a deal to me. I am all so sorry to hear about Kellsie, I am guessing she was a member of your church.

Ulrich I have a full blow plan in my head now. I will draw up the idea and see if I can post it.

Hi Guys

Wow havent been in here for a long time.

Simon - Sorry to hear about Kellsie, My Wife fought leukemia from 2004-2007 and has been in remission since. I see she had a bone cancer? So young..

Well, I have been un-employed for exactly one month now and am still enjoying the time off ( I get my severance pay until November ) What Im not enjoying is this heat. Living in Canada you think that we would love to see summer instead of the bone chilling -35c wind chill but this year the heat just kind of snuck up on us, or me anyways Stick out tongue

I wanted to start a new railroad this summer also but when we found out we were going out of business in December I quickly dashed that thought, I would love to be able to start one now but with no job I think thats probably not the best thing to do now, I still run my RC Tanks though.

Take care guys

Evening guys

Got the gyralight in the Frisco SD40-2 glued in. Also started dismantling the group of P2K GP18s I have (Ken, I haven't messed with the striped one yet) for rebuilding into various BN GPs. I took one of the GP18 sills and used it on the GP9 (phase 3) since the latter's sill was messed up. This one will become a chop-nose GP5. Just have to order an SD26 cab from atlas and chop it before the paint.

Simon, Sorry to hear about Kelsie.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I am all so sorry to hear about Kellsie, I am guessing she was a member of your church.

Her younger brother goes to school with the boys.  She is also a grad of the same school and her parents have been incredibly active, volunteering their time, in a way that is remarkable considering what they have been dealing with the last few years.  So, if you like she was very much part of the "family" that is a small parochial grade school.   Mary Anne had made a quilt for Kellsie a couple of years ago.  It was covered in all the hand prints of the doctors, nurses and caregivers that had attended to Kellsie.   She would wrap herself in the quilt, as it represented the curing hands enveloping her.   This young woman was so incredibly brave, and touched a lot of people.

Thank you all of you for your prayers.   I am sure that the next few days are going to be tough.

Evenin' folks!

Flo just a decaf and a seat in the back booth for a bit.

Simon, so very sorry to hear about Kellsie!  She, her family, and all her friends are in my prayers tonight.  Having lost my wife (leukemia), my MIL (bone cancer), and my BIL (bone cancer) to similar diseases, I know way too well the struggle involved for all of you in this.  My blessings for healing and strength to you.

I took care of my two little granddaughters this afternoon for about an hour.  They were pretty good until just before their mom came home.....  After their Dad left for work, they both decided they wanted to play outside in the back yard.  Since there is a lot of shade and a good breeze blowing, I agreed.  They played on the swing set going down the slide for a while.  Then the little one took off to open up the sand box...  Fine, no problem, but as soon as she went over there the older one made a bee line for her dad's lawn tractor THAT was parked out back with a load of wood in the cart.  I know they can climb around the thing without a problem, but do need to be watched closely.  So now I have one on the tractor, and the other in the sandbox.  Soon both are climbing on the tractor and arguing about who gets to pretend to drive it...  Not good.  I get THAT calmed down to find the little one now climbing up on the cellar cover...  Not good!  She, of course won't come over the grandpa, and grandpa isn't about ready to climb up there!  So the other one decides THAT must be more fun than the tractor and she climbs up on it as well...  Grandpa is now getting a bit angry with them, but they are staying out of my reach and ignoring me.  Luckily Mom arrived on the scene a couple minutes later, and she climbed up and got them both off...  (a bit smaller than me...).  She let them know that she was not happy!!!  We all then went in the house where it was much hotter!  I will be glad when the little one is about a year older....  She is into everything!

Tonight I got the rest of the lights installed in the Engine House and the electric basically wired for it.  Also finshed installing the last workbench in it.  This one will be used for Lantern repair and maintenance.  Need a few more items which I have on order and should arrive in a few days, and the inside will be done.  Then I have to build the large roof and the building will be ready to install on the layout (right after I take it the NMRA Summer Picnic to show off.....Big Smile

Have a good night, and prayers for all in need!

Hey guys!

Sorry it's been a while, but I've been busy. Hopefully, I'll be able to be in on a regular basis, especially once school is over on Tuesday...

We are nearly done with school. Today was our last day of classes. Tomorrow is reading day. It is an optional day for extra help before exams, but I have to go in for a Peer Ministry meeting. I'll be spending the rest of the day studying for exams. Theology and Physics are on Friday, English and History are on Monday, and Precalc and Spanish are on Tuesday. Then, we're done, and we're SENIORRRRRRSSSSSS!!!!!!! WOOOOO!!!

I also got an iPhone today. I wanted a new phone, and I wanted an iPod, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I love it so far, especially the internet. I was able to go on the forums before, but it wouldn't let me post. I'll try to figure it out and see what happens. I still need to play with it, because I want to buy some games (I have no money for apps because I spent it all on the phone itself...) and I need to install the newest iTunes on my computer so that I can put my music on my phone.

Other than that stuff, not much else (that is significant enough to blab about) has been going on here.

As always, prayers are being said for all in need. It appears that someone by the name of Kellsie requires special prayers, so she will be in my thoughts for the next few days.

Sorry, but I don't have time to read all the posts. What's new with you guys?

-Joe-

In case you are interested, Duke just rode by on his bike. He shouted he was headed to Sundown, LA to talk to somebody about posting a diesel photo while Duke was posting a picture of a Berkshire.

Sigh

SIMON,   Please extend our condolences to all of Kellsie's family and friends.  This is so sad to see such a young beautiful lady taken by that dreaded disease.

GARRY,  What a great shot of Duke.... JEFF, look out here he comes.

Spent day, mowing the lawn, cleaning the carpet in the computer room (big job, so much stuff in here you could hardly see the floor.)  Must cut some of that down, it is mainly model RR. stuff so I shall box it and tuck it away under the layout for future use.   Wife will be happy >>>>happier..

Also had to see the Saw Bones today as the shoulder that I put through the wall a month ago, that didn't hurt then, has really started to be a pain in the A >>>>>>.Shoulder..   now. It really hurts in certain positions and extends down my arm to about 4 inches below my elbow.  So hopefully the Med. will help relieve it some or all.

ULRICH,   Who is the handsome looking Chap in that photo you posted ??  Is that your Son Christian ??     Looks like he is about 27, right????????????

Well off to bed...  Oh Oh, not quite yet as there is a bunch of STUFF on my bed that came from this room that I will have to move before getting horizontal.Super Angry

Must go and do the obvious.                   Sweet Dreams All.  Zzz

Ha, I beat Bill!

Good Morning,

after a few days of r*in, the sun´s out gain. Temperatures will not go up high, actually a quite comfortable weather for me.

Janie, I am hungry this morning, so I´ll go for scrambled eggs, bacon, buttered toast, a glass of OJ and lots of coffee, please.

No MRRing for me today, I have run out of material. Just made up a list of the pieces and bits of plywood I will need to build the remaining module frames - it´ll be a $ 11 spending. I think I´ll be able to make that!

Johnboy - Handsome? 27? You made me check the picture I posted earlier in this thread - yes, it is me, but where do you see handsome and 27? Alright, I understand, you were wearing sunglasses!

Garry - don´t you thing that Duke should grow his bike a little? Looks like me riding a bike - I am too tall and too big for most of them (unless they listen to the first name of Harley and a last name of Davidson). Gave up motorbiking nearly 30 years ago, after a friend of mine got killed in an accident.

Joe - long time no see! A lot has happened during your absence - too much to put it into a few words. Most of us are still around here, but we do have some MIA´s. Last year in high school coming up? Good grief, this is 38 years back in my case ...

Ray - I just love your little stories about your granddaughters! They are filled with life. You should keep those in some kind of a diary.

Simon - again, my thoughts and prayers for Kellsie and her family. We will never understand the why behind it.

Jeremy - good to see you´re back. Drop by more often - it´s worth it!

Ken - OMG, he´s takin´ up the guitar again, making the mattress shop rock! I bet this will attract a lot of folks into this place! On the plan issue - I can hardly wait to see your ideas ( duh, that´s because I don´t have any , yet!)

Todd - yeah, I told my parents, but I don´t think they understood what it actually means. The old folks are so stuck in their own little or big worries that they don´t see what´s around them.

I forgot who posted the link to these fantastic T-Shirts! I love them. Facebook, Twitter - not for me! My ego is sufficiently inflated, I don´t need to tell the world about it.

Hope you are having a good one today!
