I just ordered two (2) Union Pacific GP7's from Bachmann, DCC of course. I think I'll back away from the order forms for now. I've done enough damage for one day. Of course anyone who knows me knows what's going to happen to those UP logos. I've got the patching paint ready.

Hello--we got to 27C--that is 81F today and with a much more reasonable humidity of 55% made only feel like 88F---

I got a cat who is trying to steal my chair right now---little spring is really having a go at trying to push me off the chair. Even making with the "mmm--mmm" sounds lol

I only got some boxcars from that store so far---about 6 of 'em for $45 total. That also included our new HST---Whistling---trying to kick away the soapbox that attempted to get underneath meWhistling

As for 5,000 word reports---as far as I'm concerned they are not so much an issue as the dang processing of the rewrites and merging of documents is. Now THAT is a PITA!!Grumpy---got to wonder about this soapybox---why is here?

Welp, Chloe, I'll have a superquadruplex burger as well as an RBF---good thing virtual dining is here--otherwise I'd be sticking to the little bits of things I eat----like salads, -----dang soapboxSmile,Wink, & Grin

Hey guys

Got 2 boxes in the mail today. 1 from digitrax with a DH165IP and 2 DH123s; and the other had an BB SP 86' box, BB SLSF SD40-2, and 2 atlas Evan's boxcars. The SD40-2 will probably get some detail work to represent an SLSF SD40-2; but I haven't decided if I'm gonna repaint it to the BN Green or patch it. It's a dummy but I'm working on getting it to be powered so I can stick a sound-only decoder in it (really the old Tsunami from my U30C that souinds like an SD40-2). I realize this now but I have more decoders than harnesses. So I gotta buy more harnesses.

Chris, You're probably right. It's just that I'm not a real big fan of acedemic writing in every class that isn't math. I'd have to say the toughest part of my summer is dealing with the fact that I worked out all winter and spring, only for the gulf mess to happen. No girls in bikinis, no swimming, etc.SoapBox

Barry, ouch.

Jeff, Could you get some close-ups of the long hoods of those GPs when you get them? I've been trying to figure out what phase they represent so I could get some and make them BNs.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Garry: Around here the big two of local foods that I know of are Cincy style chili (that I don't care for), and Goetta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goetta (that I love). I'm sure that there are other things, but not being a native, nor a cook, I don't know of them.  I'd love to see thin sliced fried Goetta on the menu here...put that on buttered toast, with some scrambled eggs on the side, and you've got some goooooood eat'n.

Reality...an interesting concept with no successful applications, that should always be accompanied by a "Do not try this at home" warning.

Hundreds of years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...But the world may be different because I did something so bafflingly crazy that my ruins become a tourist attraction.

"Oooh...ahhhh...that's how this all starts...but then there's running...and screaming..."

Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have a bowl of garden vegetable pasta soup, a whole grain baguette, an apple, and a glass of NYS Finger Lakes wine, please. Thanks!

(Hey - WHAT did you guys do last night to rile up our servers, anyway? When I first came in, Chloe had this mean look in her eyes, until she saw it was me. Think she muttered something under her breath about "Todd and Chris,... somethin' somethin'...")

AmanaMedic
Funny place. It's "an art gallery with an eatery" as the owner says. Her mother "paints" and hangs these..."works of art" all over the place. Each one is signed and has a price tag next to it. Would you believe she asks $700 for a 24" x 18" canvas THAT looks like someone gave a handful of brushes and a dozen paint cans to a kid and said "have at it Junior!"??? I'm in the wrong business...

Chris - keep in mind (as I've seen as a former art major - undergrad) that anybody can ask whatever price they want for their "works of art", but selling them at THAT price is another matter. I've seen examples of Rob's paintings and THEY are worth the asking price (IMHO). Now, your eatery's mother's WOA? Sounds like a horse (painted or otherwise) of a different color... Whistling My My 2 cents. anyway.

On the radio 'skip', you reminded me of the old Clear Channel stations when I was a kid, and we could pick them up after dark. I forgot the call sign, but there was one station out of Chicago, I think. Ah, the days... Smile

Hey, Garry - careful, or I'll get you a wooden 'stirrer' spoon to hang around your neck. Smile,Wink, & Grin Have you, Gus and Dan been doing any more operating sessions lately?

Galaxy, that sounds like a fun trip, and good for the MRR'ing equipment rosters, also. Thumbs Up Actually, it looks like PA Tom had a good trip as well. Hey, so long as it's so blazin' hot outside lately, might as well ride a train and get some breeze across yourselves!

Vincent, maybe this summer will be your last writing class you need to take for a while? A guy can hope, right?

Barry - I'm not sure, but I think I'd pick making the PowerPoint show over writing the 5,000 word presentation. (Ouch, Shock ouch, Shock ouch!...) I'm just glad my graduate paper is a faint and fading memory (nightmare?) in a back corner of my mind. Got soooo tired of having to write about myself in the third person! ("This writer blah-blah-blah..."). Cruel and inhumane, in my (personal) book. (And my 'book' would be kinda like a very slightly longer version of "Gibbs' Rules" - not very long at all!) It's ALWAYS good news when you find a new LHS in your area. Yeah!! Hope he has reasonable prices and the occasional bargain bin, too. Smile

JP - now you know we told you to stake out your territory in the basement early, right? Wink You could point out to her that if you can get your benchwork put up, you'll save her some space by putting those tubs under it (can you fit all of them underneath? THAT would be a definite selling point to her, I'd bet!).

Zan, you're right - I don't think we have tooooo many other Zans in the Diner. Laugh

Todd, it sounds like Arizona might be a better deal for your daughter to have a fresh start (without the side-trackers who are in her current area). As you said, AngelAngel for her. Excellent point on JP's discovery, also! Big Smile

Ulrich - now, if making more space were that easy, I think JP should patent the idea. Will keep a buyer for your Benz in AngelAngel.

TrainmanTim - good to hear you'll (hopefully) be starting on your own layout before long. Hey, I'm into switching (and structures), too! Thumbs Up

Ray, now you quit talking about that sweet corn! - You got my mouth watering somethin' fierce! Dinner Congratulations on your (ahem...) "Award-winning photography"!! BowBow

And for those needing something to cool off, I asked our local frozen custard place to fill up the reefer car I had parked outside of their backdoor. I hope it should arrive by Sat. a.m. Yum!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that some MRR stuff I had ordered from Mainline Hobby Supply arrived today at the office. I got some figures (guests with bags, for checking in/out at the motel, and some more ladies hanging up the laundry on the clothesline). That, plus a couple of Arizona Rocks and Minerals ballast packages. Very quck service - ordered it Tuesday night, it shipped Wednesday (from Blue Ridge Summit, PA), and arrived by UPS 2 days later! Think I may order some more from that place. (I am not employed by them, only a satisfied customer, thankyouverymuch).

Tomorrow and Sunday, it's on-call time again, so I may not be back in until Monday, depending on how quiet my beeper and work cell phone are. Will see about putting together some more freight car kits over the weekend if time permits. Regardless, prayers for those in need of sleep, comfort, healing and/or some cooling off will proceed. Angel

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Awwwwwwwwwwwww BARRY, you beat me to it! I got 89 WLS in loud and clear (for an hour or two) at night back in the early 80s. Listened to 'em a LOT when I was going to school in Morrison, IL.

Other AM discoveries from the early 80s included 67 WMAQ (country station at the time) from Chicago, 780 WBBM (Chicago, all news for as long as I can remember remembering), and 700 WLW. I used to stay up way too late as a kid just to see what radio stations I could get.

JIM: Point taken on the "art." Trouble is, there are enough snooty sots in THAT area, somebody WILL buy them. Oh well, I buy plastic and metal replicas of locomotives and freight cars with my "disposable" income...so who am I to object?

Yes Jim, that would be WLS in Chicago. As we are a similar age perhaps you remember they had a DJ by the name of Dick Biondi. His theme song was "On Top of a Pizza" which he sang himself. I still remember the lyrics which I guess isn't bad since I haven't heard it since 1963. At night WLS was the only rock station we could get in Rainy River, Ontario which is a long way from Barry's neck of the woods. All of the Canadian stations we got in the day had to cut power at night so WLS was it.

No Chloe, you can put the gun down, I won't be singing "On Top of a Pizza".

 Good Morning Folks,

it has cooled down a little outside, but not yet inside, although we keep all windows open. We are just not used to this type of weather, here up north. Hamburg is close to the same latitude as Anchorage, but we are currently "enjoying" Caribbean weather.

Flo, I need a lot of coffee this morning, IV, if you´d please care.

I am just back from a trip to my LHS to discuss my "contest" entry. Although the owner liked the idea, he will not be going for it, as he is not selling Eishindo stuff. If I´d only known that earlier! The "winner" is an entry showing a more appropriate scene for a Christmas display - a winter scene in the mountains, with a cog railway just shuttling back and forth, simple to build and cheap, just two lengths of flextrack and a switch. The train will be Fleischmann piccolo N scale electric cog loco with two cars.

It would have been nice building this layout, but you can´t win ´ em all, can´t you?

Garry - I heard what you said about Petra´s apple strudel and conveyed your wish to her. Now if we are able to get the temps down in the kitchen, she will be firing up the oven and make a load for the Diner. Oven fresh strudel with a topping of vanilla ice cream and rum-raisins - yummy!

Zan - I am living in the region, where "Goetta" is supposedly coming from. I never heard of that stuff and I have never seen being sold. It sounds very much like the Scottish "Haggis" or the Palatinate "Saumagen", both being meat and some stuff to "extend" it, seasoned and pressed into some sort of "containment". The old and traditional way of cooking is very much on the retreat here in Germany, as less and less people actually do prepare a whole meal by themselves. "Convenience food" is the name of the game - you know that "just add, water, or milk, thoroughly cook until it boils - ready to be served" stuff. I am lucky to have Petra, who likes to cook and knows how to handle herbs and spices!

Flo, I need a lot of coffee this morning, IV, if you´d please care.

Make my IV rawcaffeine please---

I had a good ol' t'underin'boomlet come through here last night that darn near took out a couple of trees in our backyard--one bolt of lightning tore a strip out of a limb on the large maple and another bolt--a few seconds later took out another large branch of a black walnut tree. Then it proceeded to dump about 1.5" of rain on us'uns in half an hour. So today I get to clean up our backyard of bits and pieces.

On "convenience" foods--we do not even do that--now it's just throw it in the microwave stuff. And on that note------Chloe, I'll have a refill on the IV bag of rawcaffeine and a breakfast bagel as well please---I'll be at the corner booth----SSSSCCCHHHHHPPPLLLIIIIIITTTZZZ!!!!!!!!Sigh

Just get me a spatula and a bowl to put the cherry pie bits in please----Why would someone want to throw this pie?

Afternoon guys!

Actually it's morning. shows you how awake I am.

Make my IV rawcaffeine please---

Oh, today, I fully agree!

Tired and my back is killing me from the trip to COoperstown, NY's Farmer Museum. Very nice little historic town with characters garbed for about 1818-1835 {I think it was}. NO choo-choos though! {knew tthat going in.There is a scenic historic Diesel loco run train up there somewhere}.  Lovely job of moving and resoring to accurate the town's buildings. Was lovely. Did I mention it was lovely? Rain splattered a few times but stayed away while we were there. Saw the "legendary Cardiff Giant" there. Wasn't impressed and he has broken legs.

Bought us some new straw hats and some old fashioned rendered soap for "special occasions" from the well attired shopkeep.. I wnated to find a new straw hat in Lancaster County PA while at Strasburg, but we kinda flew past teh "Hat, boot, and belt" shop and turning around in drenching rain was not an option for my other half who held the cards as was driving. I like to wear open weave straw-type hats for the summer months when it is hot so teh heat rises off my head and I don't sweat to death more than I do already. I have a round one, a fedora style-ish one and two straw open weave Baseball hats, believe it or not. The straw hat I got yesterday isn't ventilated though, so it will be a spring/fall hat, when I can wear it and not sweat under it. It is a nice oval shape. I lasted about 3 hours on my feet. We forewent the Fennimore Cooper Museum altogether. We went downtown Cooperstown to eat something. Man their water tasted like it came right out of Otsego Lake! SO did the fountain drinks. Thank goodness they had Seneca bottled Rootbeer to drink! Apparently it poured while we ate inside.

Had to take my wedding ring off as all this outdoors stuff this week has caused me to swell something fierce. We rest now for awhile, as vacation time is over. We are still planninga trip to Steamtown as our steam train buff friend would like to go again. LAbor day weekend they have their railfest, so hopefully we will make it before then, if not at least then!!!

Well, that was my trip and now time again for nappy-poo to rest my back.

 Good morning.

Well the BIL is getting married today, and that's one off the list.  The MIL is off the list Monday Big Smile.  I haven't done to much to the layout.  I did add some ballast, and I need to get some shots of what I have done.

Hope everybody has a good Saturday.

Good morning. It's 77 and mostly cloudy or partly sunny depending on how you want to look at it. There's a 50% chance of rain today and the high will be 95.

Just checked on the progress of my orders. My 567 prime mover is well on it's way here and the 2 new Bachmann GP7's will likely ship out today. I had some fun putting out the wallet fire on that order. I saw in the new NMRA info that Bachmann is bringing out a GP9 model. I'll have to see about snagging a couple of those when they become available. Got all my meds refilled yesterday so I feel better now than I have for the past few days. Nothing in particular planned for today so I'll just take it as it comes.

Good Morning, Janie - I'll have a coffee in a Santa Fe mug, please, and a cinnamon raisin bagel. Thanks!

blownout cylinder
That sounds like WLS in Chicago, another couple I used to get was KMOX in St Louis

Yep, Barry, WLS was the one! I never realized that KMOX was a Clear Channel station (if it was...). Smile

Chris, at least you don't buy only RTR, eh? (Hey, quit throwing stuff at me! I was only joking! Ouch!) But hey, I'd bet you get at least at much fun with your MRR stuff as those snooty-snoots do with sitting back and gazing at their 'art'. Wink Hey, get back to your corner, soapbox!

Another heat advisory day today in sunny Cape Girardeau - only 79 F (26 C), but supposed to reach 92 by this afternoon (humidity is 84 percent now, so it feels like 82 F). Not much of a breeze out there, only 6 mph, so that doesn't help a whole lot. Good day to stay inside and (hopefully) do some MRR stuff. Got the new issue of RMC at the P.O. box this morning, so will take a gander at that today or tomorrow.

Jeff, you'd mentioned some GP-9's, which reminded me of how durable those things have turned out to be. I recall reading somewhere that there are still a good number of them in operations today, about a half century later.

Hope everyone stays as cool as possible - the weather this a.m. looked like about the whole U.S.A. is toasting today. I think Las Vegas or Reno had predicted high of 117 F (not counting any heat index - but you know, it's a dry heat out there, right? Smile,Wink, & Grin).

[Edit]: And it looks like I have the breakfast/brunch tab - Janie, better set up the buffet, since there are still a number of our big eaters still to come in! Dinner

Blessings, shade, a good fan AND A/C for all you Diners,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Mornin' everyone!

Oh!  I see you have a breakfast buffet set up this morning Zoe!  I'll have THAT and a cup (maybe 2) of dark roast coffee in a R&GV Mug.  Hmmm.  What's this?  Looks like Green Eggs and Spam.....  Why is Barry cooking?  Oh, issue with a pie, huh?

It will be warm here in the Finger Lakes today.  Currently 83°F with a high early this afternoon of 86°F.  Isolated thunderstorms are forecast for late afternoon and evening....  Oh, great!

I am w*rking train crew this afternoon and evening out at the R&GV RR Museum.  Today is "Trolleys at Twilight" featuring both trolley rides, and rides in our cabeese and diesel locomotives.  Crew call is at 3PM so I'll have to leave here around 2PM.

Ulrich, danke mien freund!  And the same to you!

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning. Coffee and a caramel roll please. Thank you. Oh no, wait, I'll have the Booofay.

Fancy Sign up to the Village Hall says "Fresh peaches between the Love's and the Huddlehouse today from 10 to 5:30" Think I will truck on over the overpass about say noon.

High today of 93 with a feels like of 101, and like Jeff, mostly cloudy or.... Right now it's sunny.

Well, at 2146CDT (1446 Zulu) yesterday Grandchild number 5 came into the world with out even a peep. A grunt, but no peep. Shawn, Sean, Shaun, however she'll spell it, is what we will call him. I'm not real happy with the situation, but, again, not the childs fault. I'm getting tired of telling myself thatSigh. Maybe if the Arizona thing works he will be getting a better chance than here.

Ray- Congrats on the photo!!

Speaking of UP I got a bid in on a Genesis SD70M. I did not bid high, nor will I. Otherwise I'll buy from FLHS. With shipping I'm at about 60%. Of course it is "barely used", besides, I don't want to pay big bucks to find out a six axle loco won't make a curve somewhere. The full dome car does, but , I just want to be sure before I sink some large dollars to find out a loco won't run. Over the years of course. However, there is only one place where the radius is tight, and that's on the upper peninsula around the tourist trap town. I don't plan on that section being the UP's mainline anyway, so there really is no real reason for there to be such a loco on there, but you never know, I may want to rearange the way the world fits the layout and the occasional freight will, again, rumble past Gold Creek.

HA! I almost speak German. I had it all but "weekend" for both Ulrich and Jeff.

I plan on doing some more straightening up in the train room today. A bit of yard work and then I have to w**k at 4:30 tonight. I don't think I like working Saturday nights (scrunchy face). I did get to do some straightening up on the layout yesterday. I think that is the hardest part after coming up with the money, keeping the area clutter free. Then once it gets cluttered, the gumption to clean it up, followed by the "where do I put its". By the way, can't see the top of the modeling bench again.

Have a Great Day!!!

Mark ... Good to see you here with that cool photo.

Zan .... I've had Goette several times. Hits the spot with eggs in the morning. I'm in grits territory here. ...  I've had some of that chilli. One place was called Skyline Chili. I forget the name of the other chain. They have those short hot dogs Cincy-style with a ton of shredded chedder cheese. ..... We like LaRosa's in Cincy area.

Jim ... We've not had many op sessions. Dan's been busy with non-MRR stuff. Gus has been repairing his seond floor model, a new Atlas GP40 with sound (IC white and orange) . It made an un-intended sound as it crashed on his floor. His previous floor model model was an IC E8 which has been repaired now for at leaast a year. I've had some non-MRR interruptions, too.

Todd ... We had fresh peaches earlier this week. Shelley made some great peech cobler with some of them.

Ulrich .... I'm ready for strudel !!! .. I could speak a little German like Becks, Budweiser, Strohs, and Schlitz. .. Bratwurst, too.

My current layout project is the Union Station section of the layout. It's on a second level over the long cabinets. I'm still keeping DCC on only the lower level and the steel mill. I will be changingover the upper level in the weeks ahead. I have circuit breakers for it now, and they need to be installed. I have 5 more decoders, but I'll need many more of them.

One of my trains operating on the mainline today are a Burlington passenger train heavyweight cars and a 4-8-2.  The other train is a GN freight train with Atlas GN GP7's.

Good afternoon, Janie, Flo. I'll have a BLT and a RBF, please. Thank you, and boy, does the A/C feel good in here, after the trip over. Whew!

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! !

Todd, on Shaun/Sean/Shawn's arrival, and at least he's one kid that can actually keep his mouth (sorta) closed - should help him stay out of trouble once he's school age. Smile,Wink, & Grin  Oh, on the German, mine is so kaput that I didn't even want to try responding in Germanglish...Oops for fear of doing serious damage to American-German relations worldwide. It's been too long since I heard German spoken (my Dad didn't speak it much when I was growing up, and I'm not sure I recall my grandparents in Nebraska speaking it when we would visit there, either.

Mark, you mentioning that seal reminded me of this photo:

which might be where a bunch of us might want to be this afternoon (with beverage of choice, that is...).

Did a quick inventory of my paint colors this afternoon, since I was inside anyway. Wink Think it's about half Floquil bottles and half (or so) Polly S ones. I was surprised when I was looking up the stock numbers for some of the colors, that I found the Floquil (1 oz.) ones cost less than the Polly S ones (I guess they figure they'll make the diff back on the solvent. Whistling Between the two kinds, I have a lot of (probably 3/4ths) of the colors I want/need (except perhaps for some weathering colors like Grime, Dust, etc.). Still waiting on the (2) backordered Platinum Mist bottles I ordered for the RDC project. I have one or two of the RDC shells THAT are in need of cleaning and repainting (discolored currently).

Well, pager went off, so time to get going. Hope to be back in later and see what kind of damage everyone did to my tab on the buffet...

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

They're probably wondering how best to surprise the seal.

DEAR ABBY ADMITTED SHE WAS AT A LOSS TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
Dear  Abby,
I am a twenty-three year old liberated woman who has been on the  pill
for two years.  It's getting expensive and I think my boyfriend should share
half the cost, but I don't know him well enough to discuss money with
him.

Hello Diners: Like Sawyer, I'm checking in to say we're still alive! So, here's a file that's been building since Friday 16th.  Not much mrr Thursday as it was Kris' bd. And we were taken to lunch , and went out for Dinner (that way I don't cook K. said LOL)  Was able, between other things, to progress a bit on the "scratch-in-place" re-design and re-build of the card mock-up for the mill/bakery complex  By scratch-in-place, I mean literally building wall by wall on site like  this.   That non-vertical wall should become upright when the front wall is added, as the sag will be corrected by the vertical side of the latter. (I just tested that theory, and it seems to work LOL)  Moving the front wall back 17 scale feet, and lowering the height by at least as much, makes a far less bulky looking building. It should also make room in the parking area for another of the loading bays to have a truck, or at least a trailer, parked there. (again, quick check says 3 bays are possible if the last one has the front of the trailer slightly hanging off into hyper-space at the layout's edge! I'm now going to put a 4th. a-round the corner to the right as a "Receiving" Bay. I sort of planned long ago to have rail freight materials come in to that area - which is why the "beer Can" tank in the first photo is where it is - full of lard or some less aggressive shortening Whistling  I'll have to slightly shorten the rail spur to give trailers access; but I think it will look neat.)

(Saturday 17th) No real mrr time the last couple of days, as the weather turned nice-for-a-change and I had to hack the grass back into submission.  Foggy again this am, but if it clears I may be able to do more on the house. (Edit, THAT didn't happen Sigh) House insurance company sent a roofer to assess the storm damage (from the turn of the year "hurricane") - we're going to replace the shingles completely, but insurance will cover re-placing the damaged sections. So, that will cover about a 1/3rd. of the cost.

Chris: On the Rescue 34 thing. I Googled THAT, and came up with a YouTube of Rescue 34 going to an incident in "Untiy Township". Googled THAT, and came up with a "Take your pick" of candidates here: So, your guesses are WAY better than mine.....

Ray: Ditto the Congrats on the photo. (Still like #3 'though Blindfold Never having entered, let alone won, a photo contest, I'm not one to talk.)Bow

I'm off to order a square corners punch thing from Micro-Mark. I've many window openings to do if I actually get around to scratch building the background buildings that are just empty cardboard boxes right now.

So, goodnight all and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace. Angel

Evening gang!

Had a nice day out with the "boss" aka Vikki. We went to IHOP for a nice breakfast. She had a Spinach and Mushroom omlette with a side of fresh fruit ( red grapes, honeydew and cantalope) while I had a short stack of Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Pancakes. mmmm

From there, we went to the Regional Market where we sampled about 8 wines, and bought a bottle of 2 of them. We also got some red salt potatoes, and some tomatoes and a honkin 5+ # all beef bone for our dog Bella.

After that, we went to Old Navy and got a bunch of clothes for both of us (her treat)! Then we went to a place called Paradise Market (along the lines of an indoor flea market) We sampled about anoterh 8 or so wines, and bought 6 bottles, which in turn got us one bottle free.

From there, we went to Sam's Club for gas, where it POURED cats and dogs while I was putting gas in her SUV!!! We then went inside for 3 cases of her beer.

Other than that, we made quick stops at Lowe's and Wal-Mart for a few things.

All in all, it was a great day. We just wish it was a bit on the cooler side with less humidity.

Chris - I just did a Google Search on Rescue 34 and came up with multiple locations. I have yet to find one out your way.

Der John - Unity Township you found in your Rescue 34 search is in PA. It's listed on a call for Crabtree Rescue 34 enroute to a vehicle accident in Unity Township.

Well take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Home at last.

Thanks for the congrats, but I have to admit I didn't do much. I didn't know this place used the room as the delivery room so when the doc came in and they laid her back, the knees went up and the stirrups came out ......I bolted for the door. The nurse asked if I was squeamish, I said no, but I've seen my share of cattle birthed and I don't see that a human would be much different. Besides, I'd see way more of my daughter than I need too. She just laughed. I watched some stupid show on the TV.

Sweet corn? Well we should be close if not some already. Several farmers plant a few acres when they plant corn, but I haven't heard of any picking any yet. Of course as much as I'm around here lately who knows. Oh, Brenda would I suppose, they come in to the elevator. She hasn't said anything though.

DerJohn- I'm old and I forget so, if I didn't wish Kris a Happy Birthday, please do so.

JP- Sounds to me like a lot of money spent to fill up the new extra storage space. Better get putting up the bench work. Hey! Maybe you'll need more storage and get to build a larger layout!! Ah, you're right, better not push it.

Prayers for those in need.

Evenin'....  almost the wee hours around here.

Just a decaf for me Flo.

Just got home from w*rking Train Crew for the evening at the R&GV Museum.  Spent 7 and a half hours on duty...   Really nice event and everything went well.  Had at least a couple hundred riders tonight and a lot of good questions.  One older gentle man was an electrician that worked on several of the locos on our roster back when they belonged to Eastman Kodak.  Very cool to talk with some of the people who have ties with the equipment we run.  The high point of the evening was deadheading back downgrade on the last trip around 10PM.  Just gliding down with everything pitch black outside.  Only a couple of electric lanterns on the back caboose to light the way.  Only light in the caboose was kerosine lanterns.  Diesels on the 80 Tonner just idling and just the sound of the wheels on the track........  Very nice!

Tonight was a new event called Trolleys at Twilight...  I suggested we should have another one that would start at 4AM and go to 10AM.  We could call it Diseasals at Dawn.....  It didn't seem to go over well......Whistling

We had to reset old #211 back down on the siding we were using tonight and them move the train over on the far track.  Tomorrow will be track cars and they need the track we were using. I was the old man on crew tonight as the other 2 officially on the crew are recent grads from RIT in Rochester.  Fun guys to w*rk with!

Sweet corn....  yep in season now here in the Finger Lakes! Big Smile  Expensive right now, but goooood!

Todd congrats on the new family member.  Get him started on trains early...  Our youngest on board tonight was only a couple weeks old.  oldest was around 90.

Have a good night!

Guten Morgen meine Freunde (Good Morning Galaxy),

what a night! The first night with quite comfortable temperatures and what happens? It is the annual "County Fair" , connected to the annual "Schützenfest". Those of you, who have been to Germany, may know this. In the early 1600´s, each town had its own militia to defend the town against the attacks of marauding Swedish troops, who were fighting the Catholic army. That war lasted 30 years and destroyed much of Germany, killing 25 % of the population. Though not really a militia anymore, these "Schützengilden" (shooters guild) remained as a kind of folkloric club - a good excuse for drinking gallons of beer! Each year, there is a big party, with an oompah-band, a fair, and a lot of noise! I maybe caught only 2 hours of sleep Dead

Chloe, make that two IV-bags of dark roast coffee, please!

Todd - a big Sign - Welcome to Sean, Shawn, Shaun and congratulation to you on Grandchild # 5!

John - please extend Petra´s and my belated Happy B-Day to Kris!

I see that Chloe is coming with the IV-bags - I´ll stay in the corner booth until the coffee is in my veins!
