Well we are going to get $300 dollars back from the body shop. My wife was fighting with the body shop guy for a few minutes on the phone. So........We decided to call the owner of the body shop/dealership. He was VERY VERY rude to my wife. Saying "she is fighting with herself, and its mostly her fault for most of this". She was screaming into the phone, and you could hear him yelling also. Not don't get this wrong, but she didn't start yelling till he started to put her down (talked to her like a child). So......We (yes both of us) will go get the car tomorrow morning. Take the car to get the oil changed, and then take it to get the plugs changed/looked over. I hope it all goes well tomorrow.
While she was fighting on the phone I was ordering some items for the layout.

Sounds like you put that time to good use, and it seems like someone will be having a bad day on your layout robby.
As to my layout, I got the streets figured out and I'll be going with a small park between the spur and downtown buildings. Also will have room for both houses and plenty of cuts etc.
Now the research is all that's holding the cuts up, but that doesn't mean I can't get crackin on the roads. progress *SHOULD* begin tomorrow.

I have just finished installing a Digitrax SDN144PS decoder into a Bachmann decapod to replace the MRC decoder. To say I'm shocked at the abysmal sound out of that thing is an understatement. The chuff sounds like a very small jackhammer. There is only one whistle choice and the volume is very poor.
If you add sound to your wife's Bach 2-8-0, bite the bullet and get a Tsunami. I have factory installed Tsunami in my 2-8-0 and it is by far the most realistic steam sound I have heard.
Rob: The mail yesterday brought the siding I needed (and forgot to pick up at the LHS) for the project we were discussing. Now, since I did pick up the "structural steel", I'm good to go. When I've got something photographable, I'll shoot you a PM.
Wonder if there is any way to find a brass replacement worm gear for the poorly made plastic worm gear with the same spaceing?
Is there a cheaper paint than those little Testor's cans that does as good a job on little plastic parts? (Brand & where to buy?)

By the way, I'm with you on the sound. I think I'll stick with the gentle whir of the motor and the clickety clack of the wheels over the joints. The older I get the less of that kind of "noise" I can take. I get irritated pretty easy anymore.

Well, well. Looks like they moved the dining car again while i was w*rking on the turnout tonight... Must be they used THAT new Battery Electric Locomotive I've heard about. Very quiet, but lots of pwer to move this car.
Flo I'll have the strawberry pie al la mode with a cup of your finest decaf if it didn't get spilled in the move.
Funny, I thought I smelled some coal gas and steam from a Berkshire earlier........
Went out to camp and got all but 4 tents finished up. May have a bit more to do in a couple of the Leanto sites. So, I'll back out one more time tomorrow and get it finished. I also managed to not quite get all my lawn mowed today as well. I was busy with it this evening when A neighbor i haven't seen for a while walked past. So we stopped and chatted for an hour or so. Seems the guy across the side street from me did have a heart attack a few days ago (I think I mentioned the ambulance being over there). Guess it was mild as he is home and appears to be fine. He mowed his lawn on a very hot day, put the mower away, walked into his kitchen and collapsed. Lucky his wife was there!
Ulrich, I know you have a certain familiarity with the above..... Hope you are doing better, and please know prayers from here continue for your health and happiness!

Have the turnout almost done. Just have to glue it onto the ties and it is ready for the layout. As soon as I have put it in place and done some circles and arrows and stuff with lines where the tracks will be, I can remove the shelf where the quarry will go and actually do much of the scene off the layout. All but the final track laying, ballasting, and scenery can be done in the workshop and then brought back and installed. I'll have photos as I go along.

Not much news on the MRR front right now. To busy working. Hope it slows down soon. This is not being helped by my allergies that have really flared up this summer. They are really bad with the high humidity. I know that sounds wrong , but that is the way it is with me. So I'm not to perky and any time I can put my head down I am sound asleep.
Ulrich, I know it is easier said than done, but, Quit worrying. You are not doing yourself any good by fretting. This will improve, just relax and let your body heal itself. By worrying you will not improve anything and it will be harmful to both you and Petra. None of us want that for you two. You folks are very special and remain in our prayers and I know that is from a lot of us here.
Think I will climb into the Jaccuzzi for a spell and hit the sack early as I have to work the Canada Day Celebrations tomorrow.

John, I actually tried 2 different speakers, one of which has an enclosure and it didn't make much difference to the sound, perhaps a little louder. It was the poor quality of the sounds that I found most disappointing. The loco is happily running around now with the MRC back in it and the sound from that decoder is quite good. I agree that the sound can get a little annoying sometimes which is why I only have one sound loco going at a time.
Ulrich, very sorry to hear about your further health problems. Sometimes stress can be a vicious circle as Johnboy said. I sure hope brighter days are ahead for you and that you are feeling better soon.

Reading about your problems makes me very thankful that I've managed to go 62 years without any.
Well tomorrow I think I'll celebrate Canada Day by painting the 'water' in my harbour. Wish me luck!! I expect I will end up with just a straight dark blue. I would like to get a Lake Erie brown/green but I doubt I can do so. Lake Winnipeg is a similar colour to Lake Erie but I don't have a clue as to achieving that hue. I look at the various brown, green, gray, and blue colours I bought and think, now what? I will try mixing a few and see what happens.
Time to take Pippa out once more before bed. I have to go out with her as she has very little eyesight left and can't hear much either so I carry her out to her potty spot and carry her back in. I really didn't think she would make it to summer but the meds we have her on seem to have temporarily stopped the cancer and her skin allergies. Who knows, she might make it to her 16th birthday on Oct.25 but as our vet has said, she is a very old dog and it is only a matter of a short time before something gets her. I spent some time this evening sitting in a lawn chair with her in my lap. She seemed to enjoy just sniffing the air.

Anyone remember me? It's been at least a year since I've been here, I think. Started to get back into model railroading now that I have some time (high school keeps me busy, of course). However, luck isn't going my way. My railroad ain't in the best of shape.
The structures are falling apart, the tracks need to be re-done... Probably going to go with a new plan anyways.
My biggest issue is the reliability of my locomotives.
Issue #1: I pulled my challenger out to run it, and the front wheel set won't move.Issue #2: My big boy won't chuff... All the other sounds work, however.Issue #3: My consolidation is still broken. (Darn you orange plugs!)Issue #4: My heavy mountain is still broken. (See above)Issue #5: Just today my digitrax zephyr "exploded." All the sudden my FEF stopped, I looked at the zephyr and the display was gone. The power supply was still plugged in... Then it spat our smoke like crazy. So now I have no DCC... I think I have a DC pack around here somewhere that works.

Bought a new engine yesterday of that auction site. A brand new Atlas RS 11 in BN (suprised, shouldn't be) paint for a whopping 46 bucks plus 8 for shipping. I think I redeemed myself some from the rather high price for that C30-7 (bought for $80, didn't notice the "no sound" label until after I bid)
Mark, long time no see (here anyways). sucks all that stuff is broke. Your zepher reminds me that I need to head over to digitrax's HQ (about an hour away) to see about getting some decoders that were DOA fixed.

Well today is the day we FINALLY get the car ( I hope). I already told my wife "no fighting today". We will go and look at the car and leave. I will have to change the oil today, and get the mechanic to change the plugs. I wold change the plugs myself, but dang foreign cars are a pain. You always need that "special" tool.
Ray........The work has a lift time warranty, but I rather pay someone else to do the work. Plus they already tried to get us in a new car....HA!!!!

Vincent.....I really wouldn't know where to start on that. Having the cars undec. would help. To get the peeled paint look use "elmers glue". The real sticky glue, the kind you take that small brush and spread the glue with. Maybe paint the car that grayish color, and then add some glue. Just in spots thou. Let that dry, and then go back over the car with the yellow. After the yellow paint has dried, then take the glue off. That will remove the yellow paint (where its painted over the glue) to expose the gray paint. The glue isn't hard to remove.

Good morning. It's 75 on it's way to a high of 86. There's an 80% chance of thunderstorms today and we'll probably only get a minor shower that will evaporate as soon as it touches the ground.Being that today is the first of the month I'll be out paying some bills that can't be paid through the mail or paid online. Let's face it. There are still some places that insist on staying in the dark ages. Yesterday I picked up the part I need to fix the tractor and get it going again. As usual Murphy will likely snicker and I'll end up needing something that has to be ordered from the dark side of the moon and will take six weeks to get here at the fastest. The grocery shopping has to be done and I have to help my father come up with some way to shift his Yardman mower from forward to reverse without having to use the badly designed foot pedal that it has. That things absolutely kills my ankle every time I use it.

As stated my issue is with a switch that I bought recently at a LHS here in town---it seems that it will only work when it wants to----- ---- hence operation session last night was one of fix and repair---I had a ATLAS RS2 take a header onto the floor when one of the neighbourhood kids we have down was running the main and it went off the main through the switch---that was supposed to have been straight through-----but wasn't----------poor kid stood there in shock wondering what happened.

Have a plumber coming today to service the H2O heater. It burns orange instead of blue like it should. It's also aobut 8 years old, so sediment is building up and needs to be blown out.NYSEG {New York State Electric and Gas} was out when our CO alarm kept going off. Maybe it needed new batteries but after the new batteries it still would go off. SO we called NYSEG to look-see. He warned the H2o heater wasn't firing right.
We had a plumber out yesterday who wanted to red tag it and claimed it didn't belong in a mobile home application AND it would cost more than $1500 {cough cough, choke} for a "proper one for Mobile Home application"!!! We refused to sign the red tag order and promptly called another plumber we will see what THEY have to say and How much they charge to put in new H2O heater. IF it is needed. If NYSEG didn't red-flag it why would a plumber think he could? Like any other business, plumbing/heating is a racket as well!
So then later we have cable guy coming later today to re-install Road Runner internet. A friend gave us the gift of cable but since his business paid for it it had to go business class. well the contract is now up and his gift is over,so we have to have home installation installed now. You would think with this high tech equipment they could just "flip a switch" and change the billing mode, but NO<> they have to take out old working hardware and reinstall new working hardware!!! WOrst part is I have seen them {in the past} come in to "connect" my new cable at a new apartment to me, where they show up see the old connection from previous tenants still in place, write a line or two on a sheet, have me pay him installation charges and DO NOTHING else! WE shall see. The home installation for us to now pay is cheaper than the business charges he was paying as the gift for three years. SO we get a bargain by what he paid. 1/2 the price.
Seems like some people posting here in the diner have had gremlins visiting their layouts! Wish they'd go away!

Sounds like some good cars Robby P. will enhance your layout nicely. I agree with veryone, It doens't look like it should have taken 3 months to repair your wife's car. That is rediculous and I would not even ever use that auto repair shop again! If it was an insurance holdup I could see it, but otherwise.....some places take on too much work that they can't do in a timely manner, unfortunately for those who are stuck without their car....

DerJohn- Hehehe, I always get a kick out of folks here and abroad, including our eeeelected o-fish-e-uls, refer to the United States as America.(not a bad thing at all by the way) Or should I say America as the United States. "We've got to keep Americans working!" I suppose we are with factories in Canada and Mexico. "the American President" But, many of us also call East Asians Oriental. Only fair I suppose. Much of our soybeans comes from here in America too if you don't distinguish between North and South. I should have been a politician.
Jeff- I don't know how the pedal setup is configured on a Yardman, but could you attach a bar to the pedal assembly sticking up along side the pedals (may require a wee bit of a slot cut into the foot board for clearance of desired material to use as a lever) so you could use your hands to pivot it fronterds and backerds?
By the way I like the way the diner got scrubbed down and up before the move. Looks great. I saved the picture so I will remember what it looks like if........ Well we won't think about a wild 4th of July. We're too mature for that. Riiiiiight Jim? Right? Jim?

Got out of bed bright and early this morning (about 9:30), ate a quick breakfast (as I did a couple old crossword puzzles from the newspaper), took a quick shower for the last hour (including actually getting dressed), and I am now ready to face all the things I need to get done today......
Lets see. finish lawn, complete trimming around tents at camp, get materials together to finish Railroading MB with Some Scouts from Troop 1, finish trailer, finish turnout..... I can't wait to see how many of these "to do's" are left undone by the end of the day!

The new plumber came out,s erviced the H2O heater and flushed the sediment out and thought it was in good shape after he adjusted it...not a $1500.00 new one needed {cough cough, choke choke}. I knew it! I also had him finally repair the faucet in the bathroom so now we have HOT and cold water there again without leakage of hot water and natural gas used up to heat leaking hot water. Came to $165. Can live with that! and he was a nice young man. I swear we are getting older as even Dr.s these days look to us to be a "nice YOUNG man". YOu know you're getting older when you think the repair man looks like Opie Taylor!

There are some places and some bills that I prefer to be in "the dark ages". I am still somewhat in the dark ages as I don't fully trust computerized bill paying and have been burned by overbilling/multiple billing and double deductions from my checking account before to the point the only way to stop it was to cancel the ckg. account!!! SO call me a dinosaur, but I still sometimes like to have that piece of paper in my hands,a nd like to hand write out that check!

I think we accomplished that...meanwhile while i was paying the plumber, my other half was at firestone having the headlights replaced on the Kia Sedona....the Driver side went out ,but I always know the other one is never far behind,and was cheaper labor to have both done at same time anyway...they are kinda difficult to get to. was cheap enough but a pretty penny to have them do it so I don't have to fight with them!

GMTRacing: The drumkit is fine shape. Except for my nicer snare, the strainer is broken so it's useless, but I do have 2, so I'm alright with that. I've also started playing guitar as well since the last time I was in... Well I think I do remember posting about that but I'm not sure. I got an Epiphone SG, sounds pretty nice but the quality isn't. The output jack has broken and is now taped, the nut is almost worn off at the low E string...

Thanks for everyone's prayers for Mrs. Novellino and her family. Her ex-husband was found in a motel about a week ago in Washington State; the guy at the front desk recgonized him and the car. He's being held on $2M bail.I'm hoping they'll give him the death penalty, even though I know it's not happenning.But I'm so glad they found him!
I ordered a Walthers heavyweight ($50, on sale for $15) and a two pack of Gold Line Airslide hoppers ($40, on sale for $30).
And still PATIENTLY (ok, THAT was a lie...) waiting for the Atlas Gensets... They STILL haven't shipped!
