 Thank you Sawyer.

Good morning. It's 78 and cloudy. The high will be 87 and there's a slightly better than 50% chance of rain later.

Well another year has slid past and I'm another year older. AARP is already sending me offers for medical insurance supplement plans and I'm getting junk mail from Blue Cross. Yesterday my mother gave me a small hand held vacuum from the Fuller Brush company. It looks like a glorified Dust Buster with a short hose and several tips. Naturally it uses a filter taht can't be found at any store here so it won't be used for any layout work. Besides I already have that covered with the Shop-Vac Hang-up vac. It will however be used for light household work. It's AC only, no battery. My parents took me out to dinner last night at a local Mexican place that I like. Today's photo is one of the Shop-Vac hang-up for those who haven't seen one.

birthday party clipart iclipart.comHappy Birthday Jeff,  You old Dog.   and another fifty to come.

First train in 1964 eh?  I had already had a train for about 18 years at that point. In that year I started my career with Greyhound and to think that I am only a couple of months short of being 20 years older than you just doesn't seem right.  There is something to be said for experience but I would rather have 20 years knocked off my age right now.

Anyway. The very best to you and I hope this year goes much smoother for you, health wise and also when you get that "Mobile Pad" on the road.

I'm off to the Massage therapist this morning to get some kinks worked out.   Check back in later.

Stay cool all you Hot Shots in the eastern half of these countries.

Jeff - your career as a model railroader started only a few months after mine began. It was Christmas of ´63, when it all began. A toy-like 0-6-0 steamer, two tinplate passenger cars and an oval of tinplate Marklin track was the beginning of a craze, which now last for almost 47 years.  Many a dream of a model railroad empire followed those humble beginnings, unfortunately, only a few of them ever came true. The biggest gain, however, I ever got out of this hobby is true friendship to some of the finest people!

I know that there will be many more candles on your birthday cake yet to come!

My first set I got at Christmas 1964. It was an O-Scale Marx set, or was it Marklin, with an EMD Santa Fe E unit A-B set, auto carrier, gondola with containers, reefer and a Santa Fe caboose with an oval of 0-27 track. My next, and last, O-Scale set came at Christmas 1965. It was a Lionel Double Diesel set. In 1966 I got a 5 x 10 HO dual mainline layout. One train was HO Scale and the other was OO. I've stayed with HO with brief forays with Z, TT, N, and G scales. I never have had a live steamer but I helped a friend build one that was on the small size, about half as big again as G.

Afternoon all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF!!!

Been really busy around here. Been working at the pizza place almost every night. Good news is, I'm getting about $15ish in tips every night (I get 10% of the waiters' tips). Made over 60 bucks there so far, and I haven't even gotten my first paycheck yet!
I've also worked 5 days at the other job so far, and I'm told we get a little over $30 for every day, so that's over $150 so far.

Not much else going on here. I'll catch ya guys later

I just checked with Dish Network about changing my account to HD and almost went into sticker shock. On their website they talk about changing to HD as costing justr $10 month extra. DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT! They want $200 up front! That's supposed to be for changing out the dish and the receiver. There's no way I can afford that! I'll just stick with the regular SD programming I get. Just my opinion, but as far as their HD upgrade offer is concerned, they can go fly a milk bottle!

Coffee refill, please.

***Jeffrey, if it helps (more $$$ for you), I can give you our DirectTv # also.

Been working away in the train room on all sorts of stuff. Wife came down twice to view the progress on "HER" layout.Mischief Actually, she is easy to please. Also painted some HO scale figure to represent individual characters in the trailer park. She picked out all the particular colors and such for each. Should have those all finished tonight. Oh, at least twice I heard her speak the words, "I can't see it". And that is with Horribly Oversized scale. Do I really want to stick with N scale?Dunce

QUESTION: Anyone know where I can find an HO scale model of a camper trailer? She would prefer the pop-up type. Any help finding such a thing will be much appreciated.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

I have a camper trailer but it's not a pop-up. This is Ezra's doghouse, the place he sleeps when the wife is mad at him.

 Evenin' floks!

Flo just a slice of the Strawberry Rhubarb pie and a cup of decaf for me tonight.

Didn't do a whole lit today.  Way too hot to do much outside.  High was 91°F and bright sun all day.  Kinda glad I'm not out at camp right now.  Only good thing is it is usually a bit cooler in the wooded areas, but I would bet a lot of activities are shut down during this heat wave.

Took some pictures when i was at my son's house yesterday.  What?  I of course i brought some in to share........Big Smile  The girls were playing in their kiddy [pool in the back yard (under our watchful eyes...)

Emily was having as much fun as her sister:

Olivia had fun with the ball:

They slide down the little built in slide many times:

I think my son was wishing the big pool was usable (probably by august 1st. Needs a lot of w*rk) He's a good Dad!:

Catch you later!

Good late evening.

Just back from Nashville. I see I missed the party for Jeff.

Jeff ... Happy Birthday. ... I am no fan of AARP having dropped my memebrship with them a few years ago. I have no respect for that organization.

Ray ... Cute little girls!

Rob ... You were asking about campers. My firend Gus has a campground on his layout. His is first class with Airstreams.

I had more medical appointments at Vanderbilt Medical Center today. I'm going through some more medical adventures, and it was a full day.

Edit ... We drove past the Grand Old Oprey complex in Nashville. They are rebuilding from the flood. There were numerous construction contractor trailers in the parking lots of the closed shopping center and closed hotel.

Happy Model Railroading

Small bowl of fresh fruit, please.

***Garry, as long as the end results of those tests are good ones, right! Those Airstreams are beautiful and hopefully my wife can be talked into one, if only to park beside one of her small regular houses. The particular trailer she wants for the mobile/modular home park is to be a close match to the one from that particular TV show.

Got a LOT done down in the train room. Haven't felt a backache in ages, but have one tonight. Too much bending over and working on the center of layout.

Have a good night y'all.

Good morning all,

Well I think I’m finished with truck repairs for a while.

Jeff, how old is your dish system?  I have free HD service from Dish Network and my stuff is 6 or 7 years old.

Proctor, MN I’m heading up there on the 19th, check out some bridge action in Duluth.  Then up to International Falls, MN for a day.

Christmas 1967 I got my first train set.  It was a TYCO (I still have it) over and under set with a 0-4-0, crane & Boom car, Light green cattle car, El Capitan Box car, and caboose.

Good Morning All,

Miss a day and you do pages and pages. And a belated Happy Birthday Jeff. May you see 60 and more.

74 and muggy with the relative humidity at 97% and a high predicted of 88F. Finishing up cars for Monticello today and then off to the track tomorrow morning early. Haven't heard from the lads in Quebec yet.

Next week we go to Elkhart Lake, Wisc. and I plan on stopping into Walthers showroom on the way from the airport to the track. Not much to see there, but it's a nice diversion.

Garry - I compliment you on the neatness of your train room, but I'll never be as tidy as that. I'm more like Ray only spread out over a larger area. With the train room still missing I have stuff all over my desk here at the shop plus my old stereo cabinet (remember stereos?) plus debris across the other 10,000 sq ft. Oh well, a messy area is a sign of creativity, rightSmile,Wink, & Grin?

I'll have that coffee in my New Haven mug and vamoose out of here Zoe.  See y'all later, J.R.

The IRS is aware of those positions "under the table" and WILL be looking for taxes on it. Wait staff are reported for tips by their sales, and their tip-outs to you would be also.

ANd when the IRS comes a knocken..... you wont like it. SO better to keep track and pony up the taxes on it unless as I said you are or expect to be a full time student, then you file your taxes., but owe only Social Security {FICA} on it.

Good morning.  It was about 92 degrees yesterday and they are calling for it to be 95 degrees.

Today is my wife's b-day and she hits the BIG 31.  The plans today are mostly to stay home, plus the "mother in law" is coming to town.

Well I took some pictures to show.  Gotta crime "out break" going on.   I also took a picture of a house I got at the LHS for $3.00!!!   That will be perfect for a small  farm.

Oh well, a messy area is a sign of creativity, rightSmile,Wink, & Grin?

Then I must be the most creative son of a .....gun, you've ever met.

Gooood Morning! A lot more activity on Mom's house this week. Fingers crossed some sucker needs a good home.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Northwest wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

My curiosity is getting the best of me. There is the sound of a skid loader in the distance and some thumping and the occasional thud and shaking like something hit the houseConfused.

Oh first trains? Let's see, (groans creep across the room as folks sit down shaking their heads motioning for refills of coffee) it was an AHM back in about oh, ‘71 or 2. I can't recall if the set had a name or not. It had a Pennsy S-2 that still runs as grindingly good today as it did when it was new, but is no longer green. It's now painted in the new T&P colors waiting to be stenciled. I also need to add additional pickups so it can cross insulfrogs without the occasional nudge. I can't recall the cars that came with it, but I suppose I could go down stairs and dig through the box and get the cars that did. Worth -A-Fortune I tell you. Anyway, I have fond memories of setting the thing up in the basement on the tile floor and played for hours. I remember asking for track for my B-day and the next Christmas so I could make the thing bigger. Yes, flex track can be used un attached and flat on the ground as can all other pieces. I don't recall many derails or stalls either. The set must have been too junky to notice all the stuff that causes problems. Then a couple of years later, I got a piece of 4'X8' and had a semi permanent area. Sometime after that a neighbor gave me old issues, (not real old only a couple years) of MR and I want to say Railroad Modeler. THAT's when I got the bug, when I saw all those fantatic layouts. I never dreamed they could do stuff like that! but about that time I turned sixteen and along came girls, jobs, girls, a way to get to and take out girls in the form of a car, finding out some girls like to help you work on cars and when they bend over to hand you a tool ....Big Smile. Anyway., enough of that. When we moved into this house in ‘96 I wanted it because it had an unfinished basement. Yup, you guessed it. Well, over the years my assigned space kept getting smaller, but by the time I was freed up enough to start, the kids were gone and I actually gained some ground. Always wanted a layout and now I have one. Well, sort of.

Have a Great Day!!!
