Good rainy morning.   Bunch of rain coming, and got some flood happening.

Well Its saturday, and that normally means...........Clean the house day.  Well Probably not MRR this morning.  I do have to go to the post office this morning.  I did want to go to Jo Ann Fabrics.  We have about 8 coupons to use.  From 40-50% off.  I just don't wanna go in the rain.  Plus I wouldn't know what to buy.

Jeff.......Hope you get better.   You had a lot of people worried!

Good morning all. Waffles with Strawberries and whipped cream please. Coffee too thank you. OH! And some of that delicious Raisin Bread Ryan dropped off. Nope no butter and no jelly, I just wanna taste the breadDinner.

Fish fry went wellYeah!!, served 354 in about 2 ½ hours. One more to go in two weeks. Hopefully, this afternoon after cleaning up the Township Garage, since it's rainy out, I'll get to go down and wo*k on the railroad for a length of time. I'm at a point where I have to do some figuring of how I am differing from the track plan as far as scenery goes, so I must sit and think a bit to visualize what will be happening. I've also been thinking about Spam a lot.

Jeff- Glad yer back with us. You had our heads spinning. I need to wash out my eyes, you signature block looks like German to me. Charcot's, sorry to hear that. You've described your home many times and I feel I have a pretty good picture of the size available, so I see your dilemma with the crutches. You gotta figure something out bud, and stay off that foot.

Keith said I go missing for almost 2 weeks.. and I think Robby.. might have said.. something.. like.. "Yeah~ I was wondering what happened to you..lol. Well yeah, but the circumstances are different. See, most everyone here can disappear for a while and not be mentioned or concern raised until some time has passed. Several come and go based on what‘s going on in their lives and not much gets said until they return, if even then. But Jeff has several well known health issues and posts several times everyday. That coupled with the storm that was reported to have gone through, when he hadn't shown up for a day, we began to wonder why. There are a couple others here in that same boat, but by and large most of us can come and go for a few days without concern. Trust me if you had a big storm roll through your neck of the woods, or you had heart problems or such, and you didn't show up in the diner or elsewhere, we'd be asking.

Ryan- Glad things are going well other than the choo choo setSad. ( looks around quickly for those who may take offense to the term to come screaming in) Maybe now that the weather is breaking around and the BBQ grills are getting thawed out, and people start thinking about meat in a different way, the rub sales will start to pick up. I know around here the spices get really thought about except for BBQ grills in this town..er Village I guess it's technically called.

Village! Say! That makes me one of the..........Village People! (sets the beat then breaks into song) dmp...dmp...dmp..dmp... Macho Macho maaaan. I wanna be, your Macho-o man. Macho.., In the Navy, you can sail the Seven Seas, in the Navy, (Out of no where and in a flash, Vinnie shows up. Grabs singing object by the shirt collar and drags to the front door throws offender roughly out door and onto the ONLY rock on the well maintained platform. Limps off with a bruise on hip.)

SAWYER (and others): I thought I saw where the Nationwide Series cars are 'sposed to look more like the Mustang, et al. Of course with the Cup cars, the only way to tell what it's 'sposed to be is by the decals they stick on it. It's a shame they can't have REAL Mustangs, Impalas, etc. on the track...like they used to back in the "see it win on Sunday, buy one on Monday" days of NASCAR.

I'm not sure about that, but then all I know of the Nationwide COT is what I've seen on NASCARnow on ESPN. if they do though, that'll be awesome! I actually prefer the Nationwide series to the Cup Series; the cup series might have the creme of the crop, but in the Nationwide series it's still a bit like the old days with a TON of smaller team owners (in cup there's RCR, RFR, Chip Ganassi, Hendrick, Joe Gibbs, Earnhardt Ganassi, RPM, and then some smaller teams but they aren't competitive really). a lot of those teams drop down to the nationwide series too, but there's also drivers from the cup series that own teams and a lot of smaller teams.

Oh, and I forgot to mention yesterday, but I'VE GOT MY LEARNERS PERMIT!

Are you on a quest for the "Holy Grail"???  If so I will join your band and travel with you til we find it!

What's that Vinnie?  NONONONONO...  I didn't mean BAND in THAT sense of the word... NO I WON'T start SINGING...  Promise!

Anyway, I get to enjoy my first weekend off in several weeks!  I wish I could go out and enjoy it, but the weather is not cooperating with me... High winds and heavy rain are forecast for the next four days... Not my idea of a "relief day"!

Hope everyone else is having a better time of it!  I'll be at the RC for a while.  Zoe, may I please have a larger RBF and a stack of hotcakes?  Thank you!

EDIT: Sawyer- Congrats on the Learners Permit!  Remind me to stay off the sidewalk for a while!  LOL Just a joke I tell somone who got their license for the first time!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe just a Dark Roast Coffee in a FGLK mug if you please, and a double order of Ryan's Raisin Bread toasted up nice and warm for me.  Oh and some Real™ Butter.

(Goes and sits in the front booth humming, "Slow down you move too fast, You got to make the mornin' last, just....")  Dark, gloomy and damp outside this morning or as Barry says, dull!  Currently 41°F and drizzle.   The drizzle will change to light rain, then to drizzle again, and then rain......  Other than driving to Canandaigua to feed my sisters cats and doing some shopping, I have no reason to be out in it so.  Let it rain.

Attention!!!  All you Southern folks in here!  Be very cautious driving for a while.  Sawyer has his Learner's Permit!!!  Congrats and drive safely our young friend!!!  I know you will be responsible behind the wheel.

Well........ (Deep subject) guess I best get moving.  I have to get the house shoveled out (haven't cleaned in a couple weeks).  Get some things put away and generally make the place look livable as tomorrow i should be getting a visit from a guy who is an expert on train operations.  He is going to suggest ideas for doing operating sessions on the SLO&W.  I hope my toes holds out.  It has been getting better, but by evening is usauly talking back to me.

Later!

 Hi there,

I just found this great video by James May - fun to watch, as they build a 10 mile OO scale train along the route of an abandoned BR line.

There are more episodes to watch!

Have fun!

Afternoon all.

So, part two of yesterday. We had an Algebra test. Wasn't too bad. Got to the last question and couldn't figure it out, so I gave up. I have this theory that x always equals 2 (for some reason, it almost always does). Tried it, didn't work. When in doubt, put No Solution. THAT was the answer. No one got it, so everyone put NS, and it worked. I got a 146 (of 150, which comes out to a 97), so I'm really happy.
When I got home, I checked Powerschool, and somehow, I have a 96 in Algebra and a 97 in English. I'm not complaining, but I don't know how THAT happened...

Just finishing catching up from page 31 onward...

[welcome] hcc25rl!

Ulrich, I'll take a slice of that cake... Yum...

Robby, hope the interview went well.

Wow, Jerry, that backdrop looks amazing!

Jeff, that sucks, but glad to hear you're back home.

Hey, Ryan, that raisin bread sure looks good!

Chris, somehow, mine's the same way. Just a little homework and other various small things to do, but other than THAT, not too bad...

Ulrich, it wouldn't suprise me if she was on some Diggely Daggety, if you know what I mean Wink! (And then as she would say) No, not really, just kidding! But she's definately a little kooky... But that's what makes her such a cool teacher. I'm gonna miss that class next year... Sad

Congrats Sawyer! (Psst, hey everyone! Like Sam said, watch out for cars all over the place... Wink

Jeez, Sam, you too? What's with everyone having quiet weekends?

There was a massive fire down in Ocean Grove early this morning. Nearly half the block burned down, mostly because of the heavy winds. All historic homes too. Started in the Manchester Inn, which is a historic bed and breakfast that was featured on that show "It Takes a Thief." My uncle was asleep two houses away, and they had to go in and wake him up. Luckly, he's fine (the rest of the family was up in CT, but he apparently was down for the weekend), and I believe the house is as well.
Prayers for everyone who was affected Angel

Welps, I gots ta go do schtuff, but since it's a relatively quiet day, I should be back in later.

GLAD your Uncle is OK (hope the house is too). Unfortunately, fires like THAT are kinda common "back East." LOTS of old wood structures built way too close together. One lights up and takes off...add a nice little breeze...and you've got the makings of a conflagration. The firefighters are pretty much stuck doing what we call a "surround and drown."

Good afternoon... plate of dollar cheeseburgers, plate of fries, bucket of Cherry RC...at the RC, minus of course THAT Diggely Daggety thing!

Count me in boys...I'll be sure to bring Thy Holy Hand Grenade, making sure to count to three as three is the number to be counted to.

Mah Nah Ma Nah...

Welp, I tossed out a ton of un-needed, unnecessary notes from w**k, and am back to w**king on THAT roundhouse. I found an old can of Testor's "primer" gray, so dusted/wafted some of THAT on the roof. Will try some of those el-cheapo WallyWorld craft paints I've been hearing about. Much cheaper than bottles of Floquil weathered black/grimy black, etc.  I "should" be able to grab some next weekend (payday next Friday...yay!)

SAWYER: Congrats on getting the learner's permit...keep in mind, they put LEARNER in the title for a reason!

The only problem with having "no deeds to do, no promises to keep" is...I don't really know what TO do! There are ALWAYS things I could be doing, some I probably "should" be doing... having "free time" really sets the mind whirling.

**EDIT**

***WARNING, RANT ENSUES. REPEAT...WARNING, RANT  ENSUES...***

OK, I'm about ready to go Postal over this census nonsense. First, I get a letter (odd-sized, probably cost a fortune to print/mail/etc.) telling me the census form is coming. Really? Gee...wouldn't have known, especially since the govt. spent a ba-zillion of OUR tax dollars telling us about it!!!! So, a week or so ago, a census worker knocks on the door to hand-deliver my census form. Yippee...nothing like hiring a lot of very temporary people for a short spike downward in the unemployment numbers!!! I fill-out the constitutionally mandated question: "how many people live here?". THAT is all they're getting. I'll drop it in the mail in a day or two, again as constitutionally required.

Today, some fat chick with missing teeth waddles up to the door. She has a Census tag around her neck and other Census-oriented stuff. Says she wants to ask me some questions, and "is that OK?"

"Depends on what the questions are," says I. She says she has to "verify the address." I wanted, so very, very, very badly to say "well, why don't you just waddle your fat can around to the front of the house, where a FIVE, a ZERO, and a ONE are mounted on the wall?" But...I decided to play nice. She then asked if the "8" in 8th Avenue is "a number or spelled-out."

"However it is on the street sign in front of the house" I say, jerking my thumb in the direction of the corner, with the big, green and white reflective street sign.

"Are there any apartments in this house?"

Why in the HE.........................well....you know, is THAT any of their business? But, I played nice and said "no." I thought about telling her about the cat's apartment, but figured I might do brain damage to her as her mind melted down...

I do NOT remember all this BS with the last census...

I got a few pictures to show.  One is a "UGLY" caboose (got it today), my next weathering project, and the last three are from a customer of mine.  He actually makes all of these models by hand, and they are all in HO.   The white house is a actual model made of his sisters house.

 ENJOY!!

Evenin' all. Sweet Tea please. Rainy and cold. Well, not really cold but I'm practicing.

What's that smoking in the back? Oh, it's Chris. I guess smoke really can come out someones ears.

FFA Alumni Prime Rib Dinner I just came fromDinner. Don't know why they call it alumni, it's open to the public and the current FFA members work it. It's an annual event the Williamsville FFA has been doing for years now. Best part is, because the Elevator helps sponsor it, they get two free tickets. Brenda always asks the guys that work there if they want to go and they never do, so we get to use themYeah!!. Prime Rib(no choice of doneness, but it's still good) baked potato, salad dessert and tea or lemonade. Should have picked lemonade, sounds pretty good now.

What's that? Why do I have old tires hanging all around my truck? I heard there's another new driver around. Congrats Sawyer! Now you too can enjoy the endless money pit we call a vehicle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAhZE95S6ws

Joe- Good marks there! Keep up the good work. I always said my Algebra scores were in CelsiusLaugh.

Chris- Funny, when I got my letter telling me I was going to get my census form in a week or two, I thought almost exactly what you said. Why? It's all over the place. I on the other hand, don't mind the census. I'll give them what they want on the form, within reason. But good luck on them catching me home. If they do, I'll answer their questions as difficultly as I can. Like, asking "what do you mean?" every chance I can. I really hope I get a nationality question. UNITED STATSIAN!!! Not holding my breath though, because I've never had one visit yet. But I always look forward to it.

Robby- Boy that guy is goodBow.

I see Jerry has "Radio Jerry" up as his avatar now.

Guess I'll head to the basement to see if I can get something done on the layout before the grandkids show up. The boy's dropping them off to stay the night. They don't seem to understand why the trains are gone.

TTFN (burp) excuse me.

Evening ya'll

Got more sanding on the car done, then went to an ops session. On the way back I ran out of gas. Luckily it was in the parking lot of a gas station (I was pulling in and waited for about 5 minutes for someone to make up there mind where they were going, should have shut the car off) and I only had to push for about 20 feet.

One thing I'm gonna try to do once I get the car painted is monkey with the exhaust so it doesn't sound like an ALCO... (Yes, it used to make a bunch of black smoke before when I expiremented with fuel injectors from a V8 mustang)

Sawyer, congrats on the permit. Don't try any stunts right off the bat.

Chris, I couldn't agree more about the census stuff. To add insult to injury, those census jobs pay around $16 an hour. I was thinking I should have took a break from my job to do that since it would pay nearly twice as much for half the work. But if one has to ask stupid questions like that, maybe it's good I didn't since I want to retain my dignity (also why I don't socialize with girls like the one you described).

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Evenin', another plate of dollar cheeseburgers...uh, better make THAT two plates, Rerun is kinda hungry too! I'll take a very large Cherry RC cola, Rerun will take a bowl of H2O, please 'n thank-ya...

TODD: Yup, I'll tell 'em what they need to know: how many human beings are living at this address. Beyond THAT... uh uh. If nothing else, much of what else they want to know, already exists in 100 other places. There's also some "none of their durned business!" questions on there too, in my ever so humble opinion.

Thanks for the link to Mr. Jerry Reed...a classic and then-some!

ROBBY P: Man, THAT is one nasty-looking caboose... On the other hand, THAT house blows me away!

Welp, I've been doing battle with THAT roundhouse off and on today...another reason for smoke to be pouring out of my head!!! It's a very good thing this will eventually be a background structure...

The fuzzy boy and I will hang-out at the RC for a bit, see who-else makes it in this evening...

thanks again for all the congrats! Vincent, I ain't planning on it; been in one car wreck, they're fun for about 5 seconds until the pain sets in.

Well, good day of progress on the layout. Got the rest of the skelton of the forest built; however, I need to go to Dollar Tree and get some more green moss ($2 will get me enough). I also weathered my green boxcar. Rule #1 when weathering: DON'T WEATHER WHEN TIRED!!! My green boxcar now has a line of clear and powder at the bottom because the frickin clear went on WAYYY to heavily on one side!

Well!  Good evening people!

I love Jerry Reed!  Especially "Convoy"...

I found this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdMlSb7eOrQ&NR=1&feature=fvwp

Gotta be the "gentlest" fight in NHL history!!!

Well, I just vegged out for the day... Tomorrow will be church and then Susan and I will have dinner with my parents!

This week represents the last week of trainhandling before going back to qualifying.  Hopefully we get to qualify the Atlantic City Line next, as I would rather not have to drive there in the summertime!  Raritan would be the last section that we would have to qualify and trainhandle before being promoted.  So it would seem that if things go well, I could be promoted within the next six months!  THAT would be most excellent!

Well, I believe my house may be haunted, as all this evening I have been hearing what sounds to be hammering, but when I go to investigate, the noise stops, and there isn't anyone outside at the moments when I go to look!  Anyone else have experiences like this?

Trainman Sam
Well, I believe my house may be haunted, as all this evening I have been hearing what sounds to be hammering, but when I go to investigate, the noise stops, and there isn't anyone outside at the moments when I go to look!  Anyone else have experiences like this?

A couple of years ago, the toilet flushed...while the Wife and I were in the kitchen. I know Rerun didn't do it. Also, I heard a scream one day, thought the Wife had mauled/mutilated/deceased herself! I go flying down the stairs to find her...perfectly fine and wondering what in the wide, wide world of sports am I talking about! A year later, she thought she heard a scream, thought I'd mauled/mutilated/deceased myself...and came flying up the stairs to find me wondering what her trip was!

Our theory, it must be the ghost of the old lady who had this place before the crazy lady bought it and turned it from a grand old house of class and dignity...to "the rainbow house."Shock We figure, the ghost comes back from time to time, you know, to check up on the old place? Anyhow, when she sees what has become of it...it either "moves" her to...well..."move her bowels;" or it drives her to scream in rage and terror at what has happened to "her" house!

TODD: So, you're sayin' a full diaper isn't a sign of love and affection???Laugh Or, by handing her off, are you "sharing the love?" Smile,Wink, & Grin

Evening folks!

Flo just a cup of decafe as usual for me.  I'll go sit in the back by the stove to relax where it is warm.

This is the time of year where the house would get to hot too fast if I light the wood stove, so I sit here almost shivering where I set the thermostat.  Could put on a sweater I guess, but then I would have to go get one.

Haunted houses huh?  This morning I was woken up by having someone tap me on the shoulder while I was in bed.....  You know the push your shoulder to wake you up routine.  I opened my eyes and thought what the heck?  Figured I was imagining things.  Then it happened again only harder.  This time I just about jumped out of my skin because I know I locked the doors last night and I live alone.....  I jumped with a start and rolled over (I was facing away from the door) to see that I was Manet my 20+ lb. cat telling me it was time to get up...........  He looked at me as if to say, "did I scare you daddy?"

Went to Canandaigua and fed my sisters cat.  She actually let me pet her today.......  Something is very wrong with that beast!  Maybe she has finally figured out I am not to blame THAT her owner (servant) has gone away for a while and THAT I am the sub who comes and gives her food and water during the times her human is missing.....?

W*rked a bit more on the track plan drawings this evening.  Cleaned house a bit (don't want the guy coming tomorrow to see the layout to think I am a complete slob.  Well I am, I just fon't want other people to think so!

Hope all of you have a safe and pleasant night!  Doot do bah do bah....

Hello ...

It's been a hectic week and I just had a chance to skim over the post here.

Jeff ... You sure have been thru the wringer. I'll keep praying for your health.

Jerry ... I like the avatar.

Sawyer ... congrats on the permit.

Ryan  ... good to see you again. We're still enjoying those spices !!!!!!

Chris ...  I was was interested in your census discussion. I here there are a lot of really dumb, nosey questions about toilets and what ever. Should I wonder why February's defict hit a record $200.9 billion? I need to invite Uncle Sam to the personal finance class.

Shall I rant on the stupidity of daylight savings time? ... nah ... You don't want to hear it.

The hectic stuff this week I'm sorry to say involves certain church people. They are acting like the Pharisees, and I decided to tell them that's how they act. They did not appreciate my opinion of their actions. I think we'll be looking for another church before this is over.

LaughOh my, that sounds sooooo much like me!!! Sorry, didn't mean to really scare you.

Ghosts? Weather's warming houses creak, pop, as they expand and contract occasionally causing drawers open and close. Water pipes hammer, scream and turn on the stove occasionally. Just normal stuff with a house. I wouldn't worry.

Garry- Oh you are really making me look forward to this census nowMischief. I could have some fun with some of the answers. Of course I would judge whether the question should be required, like how many live there and ages is fine, but how many toilets? Do you think I'd get thrown in jail if I said none? I may have just forgot or mis marked it if questioned I supposeWhistling. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your Church. I had differences with a preacher and their "followers" a number of years back. I just distanced myself and did my own thing by myself for a while. Things changed again and I'm back in it. I feel I don't worship the building or the Preacher, who I do worship is there wherever I am.

But...... I LIKE Daylight savings time. More time at the end of the day to play.

Prayers for those in need.

I'd heard THAT too...our form seemed more interested in knowing everything about everyone here. WHY anything other than "how many adults live here?" and "how many children?" is of any relevance, I don't know.  I think there are multiple forms out there, with "the long form" containing questions about "how many toilets are in your house?" "How many cars do you have?" "How many TV sets?", etc. THAT one...I'd burn in front of the census worker!SoapBox

I maintain THAT to fulfill the requirements as spelled-out in a wonderful little document called "The Constitution;" a postcard is all THAT would be required.

VINCENT (Packers) said census workers make up to $16/hour...geez! I'd heard something along THAT line as well. Amazing...Disapprove

Hey Janie, Flo, or Zoe...whichever, how's about a Bubble-Up to settle my stomach... this just keeps riling me up!

 YAAAAAWWN ! SighZzzSleepy

Way too early for a decent person to be up and awake on a Sunday morning! But, whatever I seem to be coming down with, does not let me sleep. After a few hours in bed, my back starts to hurt like crazy - something wrong with my kidneys, I suppose.

Well, Zoe (or Chloe - I´ll never get it right), I´ll have my "It-Is-Sunday-Big-American-Breakfast-With-All-the-Works" as Petra is not looking at the moment.

Barry - Dupka, Dupeczka - do you speak Polish? When I worked in Poland, I had a hard time to grab that language. Most of my staff spoke German, so it was not a big issue. And the border to Germany was only 5 miles away... Mischief

Jerry - I like that new avatar Thumbs Up

Sawyer - congratulations on getting the Learner´s Permit. I still remember getting mine, back in 1973, at the DOT´s office in Bremerton, WA. After a couple of weeks I went for the real thing in Seattle. Back in Germany, I had that license just transcribed into a German "Fuehrerschein". Here you have to go to driving school to get lessons and practice your driving skills. It costs not only $$$, but $$$$$ to get your license, so I was really lucky, having to pay only a small fee for the transcription.

I won´t join in on that census issue, because I don´t want Chloe to get out the soapbox or wake up Vinnie. We do have the same BS over here, but not that often. For those who know German, it is called "Volkszählung", but as all of us have to be registered with the "Einwohnermeldeamt", there is actually no need to count our heads and but(t)s.

Jeff - I hope you get that new brace soon - I have been reading about Charcot´s Foot as my BIL suffers from it as well. The brace he is wearing helps him quite a bit.

Todd - and I bet she enjoyed it! Having grandchildren is so much more fun than having children - when this happens, you just return them to the mother Smile,Wink, & Grin

Currently, I am stuck in my thoughts about that track plan. I quite like it, but of course, it has its limitations in terms of operation. This is where I am torn between two lovers and start to feel like a fool ConfusedWhistling

In terms of space and budget, this is the max I can do in the foreseeable future.  I have tried my luck and re-worked the plan a couple of times now, but in the end, there is not much of a change. 7´ 4" are 7´4" - and you cannot get the G&D cramped into that space...

Where is Tom?

The best is, to de-install my CAD program and just get started ... Yeah!!

Have a good day!
