***Tom, sounds like that ol' brass beast has lots of character.
***Jim, I tend to agree with you that no news is good news.
Today turned into a rough one after trying to get a stubborn mini cow (Cowmilla) to go through a gate. My lungs (heart?) are thrashed. I can't be doing much of anything physical anymore, period. My wife had no trouble at all moving the little cow when she got home.
Have a nice night y'all.

Evening ya'll, celebratory RBF for me tonight
now, I FINALLY got the car running right. Whatever I did before only helped for a few days. Today, I changed the spark-plug cables, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and fixed the timing. The car had well over 158K miles, and still had the original stuff. I bought a set of MSD cables and a Borg-warner distributor rotor and cap. I was thinking about advancing the timing when at the track, but it is a REAL PAIN on the 2.3 and not worth it.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evening Just got back from church meeting. Pulled all the trash to the road. I'm pretty proud that I got the layout scraps into the trash and out to the street in one day. Yup, shore did. Used the TV box and filled it with foam and ceiling tiles. Basically a lot of learning is poised for a trip to the dump via the garbage truck.
AztecEagle- Welcome to the diner. I've seen you around, but don't recall if ever in here, if so, welcome back.
Tom- I realize you hate working on brass steamers, and that the only reason you're even bothering with that one is because you need another loco, but please...., have a little patience.
NOTE: The preceding comment was just chock full of sarcasm!!!!!
Jim- Not really. Well actually yes I will save quite a bit I guess. The obvious stuff, structures and the track. I won't be using all of the track as some track and most turnouts on this section were old brass code 100. It's still "good", but I won't be using it probably. At least a big nope on the turnouts. They are old, like from the early '70s old. I don't want to be fighting worn pivots too soon. I'll be using code 83 like on the rest of the layout next to come down. No problems or dislikes with 100, just prefer 83. I don't know why either. I might find a use for some of it as I have some NS 100 that is good and a couple of switches. We'll see. The material on top of the bench work was various scraps of plywood covered wit either bead foam or ceiling tiles. So that's all at the road now to be hauled away.
Jeff- I guess I won't have much of a problem after all. I never noticed until I went back down there, but the room is a mess. I didn't realize how much stuff gets stored under the layout until the layout's gone. Brenda did offer for me to be putting the structures and such out on the table in the main room. Thinking about what you said, I declined. I'll keep the room full. Maybe I'll pee in all the corners of the room.
Think I'll call it a night. Prayers for those in need.

Good Evening, hmmmmm, smells like chili around here. Ah, the large tub there. Yep, that'd do it. Chloe? I'll take a helping of THAT...uh, no, a sink-sized bowl will be plenty please 'n thank-you. Oh, and with a bucket of Coca-Cola.
Welp, looks like I started us down a potentially dangerous road here, asking SAWYER what they was a-edumacaten' him on. All this non-practicing non-denominational is gonna say, is THAT it seems many of the various faiths all seem to be talking to pretty much the same guy, with the same destination as the goal. We sat-in on a service at a synagogue, and toured a mosque in Cedar Rapids. Later in college, I suffered through eastern thought and had another religions of the world class THAT went a lot farther than good 'ol Fr. Thoman did. I didn't pay much attention to it all then, but the older I get and the more I pay attention to what's going on in the world... believe me when I say it's all a heckuva lot more relevant than I ever woulda thought back then!

JIM: I like your thinking (Rerun and Missy), but since Rerun has his own e-mail account, I don't think he'd need e-DogHarmony...I think him and Missy probably exchange IMs when us "parents" are asleep! And as for the mouse and the architect scale...I know there's some manner of collusion going on there, when the mouse leaves...*ahem* evidence...of his passing through, and would've done it right under Rerun's nose... THAT can only lead me to the conclusion the boy has struck a deal with the mouse. And yes...he probably is holding the scale so Mr. Mouse can draw a straight line as he designs a new "apartment" for himself. I'd like to think Rerun has the scale, and is using it to design a better mouse trap.
You know, its a little surprising and sometimes shocking some of what shows up in his inbox...
ROBBY P: I think its somewhere on FAILblog.org where they've got a picture of a dead possum with the centerline painted up and over him... Could be a nice touch for your road...a little something to get people to do the old double-take.
TOM (California Tom, THAT-is): Wow... yeah, ya gotta kinda wonder who had THAT nice little brass engine, and how in the wide, wide world of sports they managed to cluster it up so badly. Poor thing, sounds like she's in a good home now! You know, they say rescue dogs make great companions...I wonder if the same is true for rescue locomotives? Sounds to me like you've saved her!
TODD: I see they beat me to urging you to seal-off the RR room from your wife. I think JEFF is right, she'll see all THAT space THAT has opened up and come up with all sorts of funny ideas... Yep, ideas so funny, they'll reduce you to tears...
BARRY (I think it was): Yeah... I need to get a better shot of THAT shop building. Its (if its still there) one of the few things remaining from the Burlington Route yard THAT was. The depot still stands, and I think is still being used as city hall. AMTRAK has an "AM-Shack" next to the BNSF yard office, but the roundhouse and pretty much everything else has been torn down. I don't think the yard is even as...complete? as it was. I think some track has been taken out and the place down-sized. Creston is still a division point, but much like Boone on the Chicago and Union Pacific NorthWestern...just not what it used to be.
I'll yield the floor...looks like Chloe and the gals are wheeling out THAT sink of chili...

Good Really Early Morning--
We had a bit of excitement here tonight. Audrey and I were going to sleep when I heard a bang at the back door. The next door neighbour and some other dude were duking it out in our back yard and just as I was going to find out what all the fuss was about a bunch of police showed up and cornered the guy who was fighting my neighbour. Turns out this idiot had tried to break into my garage after he broken into my other neighbours garage, just as my police officer neighbour was getting home. Another druggie looking for something to pawn off for that cash for his drugs---
Now I'm all piculous and awake-------GRRRR
So what am I doing at this hour all energetic like? LAUNDRY----that's what.
Ain't it exciting?-------
So. With the weather being a little milder they're coming out to play----WWEEE---NOT!
Chloe. Now that I'm up I'll have a big ol' pile of pancakes with maple syrup and a bucket of coffee please---I'm going to sit by the corner booth and be quiet now

Good Morning,
well, after a night´s sleep, I feel a little better. I was really down yesterday, physically and mentally exhausted.
Flo, I´ll have coffee in a Barry-sized mug, hot cakes, also Barry-sized, with Canadian Maple Syrup, an order of bacon, scrambled eggs and a glass of OJ, no, not the Simpson brand. Thank you.
Wednesday next week will be my final day at the GULAG. To say it was a complete waste of time would be a gross understatement. What eats me up, is, that I had to spend all my (at the moment) limited energy on this useless exercise. It just kept from doing the things that will actually bring me forward (and closer to our dream of relocating over to your side of the Big Pond).
Starting next week, I will be able to work out the itinerary of the cruises I plan to offer to the wealthy Germans, who want to discover Nova Scotia in a way which is not yet availbable in the market. Put into a nice and powerfull presentation, it will help me to attract the leading travel agencies here that I want to cooperate with. A cooperation agreement will allow me to win investors - the key step in realizing my dreams.
From today on, things can move only upward!
Tom - my to your caring hands for your loco. Please keep us posted on the progress you make (pictures!)
Barry - thanks for introducing this really good food here in. Those Barry-sized dishes are just great!
CUL, folks!
Chris, I did look at the roundhouse foot print last night and I think I’m maxed out for space with the 6 stall roundhouse and machine shop. So I guess 9 is out of the question and the number will remain 6. 12 would be totally out of the question. My round house and machine shop’s primary purpose is to keep dust off the locomotives. I have room for several outside short storage tracks for critters and the modern GP7’s. Unless dust is considered weathering maybe I need to hire the collage girl from across the street to dust my GP?Dick, we will continue to add 2 minutes of daylight now until the next equinox. That is if you’re above 40 degrees north. I haven’t figured the time of day equation for less than 40. Robby I’m still impressed with your boxes.AztecEagle, I would have to insert Patton for my “ALL TIME FAVORITE”. There are so many good ones to choose from but Patton has to be the one I could watch once a week. Jim, great troop van picture, thanks for sharing.

Good Morning. Pancakes look good. I'll take a normal sized stack and some sausage please. Yes coffee too thank you.
No RR related stuff planned today other than driving across the real tracks on my way into town. Mom day and I must haul another load of sh....stuff . Then gotta work tonight.
Speaking of that, the cattle have sure been letting us know they're there the last few days. The surface of the pasture thaws during the day and when the wind shifts from the south....
Barry- Didn't some druggo attempt this awhile back to the same end? I guess they aren't any smarter N.O.B.
Ulrich- I hope once you get out of the Gulag and get some of your life back without being insulted by being forced to "learn" basic things you've known and done for years, you will begin feeling somewhat better. Hang in there and be the animal who's hand is out of the mouth of the animal eating them, choking his "eater" . That probably confused you if you‘ve never seen the picture, but someone in here has that drawing. It's funny, but a good meaning. Never give up.
Lee- So far they are saying 3 - 5 starting Thursday night thru Friday here.
Jim- Not that I could be sure anyway. Without seeing the front, I have no idea the make. As for the year, well, aside from a few iconic cars in the mid fifties, I have trouble with years prior to 1960. Like now. We've turned full circle. Ah for the sixties and seventies when you could tell the year of car easily.
Welp, best get a move on.
Have a Great Day!!!
Gooooooooooood morning. Its not to cold, maybe 30 degrees or so. BUT, a snow storm will hit us tomorrow. They are calling for 4-8 inches.
Thanks for the comments. Very, very rarely does someone see my layout. At least I can show you guys on here. Plus the comments, and tips help out as well .
Jim/Chris..........Maybe I should do some road kill all along the yellow line, then it won't look as bad .
Lee.......Thanks. I never got around to emailing you. I will try to get to that today or this weekend.

WOW! Looks like both flo and chloe are getting quite a workout today. Look at that wheelbarrel full of Barry-sized pancakes and coffee going to the corner booth to Barry and Ulrich! .... Amazing!
I think I'll sit at the corner booth with Todd as he finishes his normal sized order. Coffee and a donut for me please.

Hey! Anybody in here? Oh there's Zoe at least... I'll have the soup and sandwich special with a Dr. Pepper for lunch. So what happened THAT everybody left. Todd and Barry did what after eating just one little thin mint at the end of their meals? OMG, are they going to be alright? Well THAT explains the buckets and the mops..........
I have been furiously cleaning the upstairs of my house (main floor) in anticipation of Troop 1 arriving tonight to see the layout and do one other requirement for the MB. My son called me first thing this morning to tell me they had no heat in the house this morning. He thinks it is the thermocouple on the boiler. Guy is coming to fix it this afternoon..... Just popping in here while I wait for the floor to dry in the kitchen. Still have the living room area to clean.
OK, back to w*rk!

I had to go out to the Pickering flea market (biggest in this area) to find a good VCR. All the ones any of the pawn shops had were worthless junk that wasn't even worthy of target practice. My old Toshiba (10 years old) finally bit the dust this morning. It suddenly decided that instead of playing or recording tapes it would simply eject them and tangle the tape up in the spindles. I got it to work but it's iffy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I sorted through a bunch of old VCR's until I found several that met my criteria. It had to work well with no hesitation and require no fiddling with it to make it work. It had to be Hi-Fi with extra ports on the front. Two looked like they had belonged to kids and one acted like it. It just flat out refused to even power up. The other one worked great until it came time to eject the tape. Took several tries but it finally did it. The third one, a Sony unit, looks almost brand new an dthere's zero dust on it or on the control buttons. It relatively new as it's digital converter capable. It works perfectly! No hesitation, no drag, no tracking problems and it records very clear with no static. Price tag? $20. Now, I know there are many out there who have the obvious question on the tip of their tongue. What the heck do I need with a prehistoric device like a VCR? It's kinda hard to transfer VHS tapes to DVD's without one and I'm not spending $200 on a combo unit. I had one of those some years ago and was very unhappy with it. Using the VCR I can play the tape into the computer and burn it onto a DVD.

CederstrandToday turned into a rough one after trying to get a stubborn mini cow (Cowmilla) to go through a gate. My lungs (heart?) are thrashed. I can't be doing much of anything physical anymore, period. My wife had no trouble at all moving the little cow when she got home.
After today, I'll tread lightly, Rob, but maybe you could parlay that into 'light duty' from the wife? Hey, was worth a shot, anyway, maybe get authorization for some layout room time?...
TMarshMaybe I'll pee in all the corners of the room.
Chris, I'd be inclined to possibly agree with Tom's comment about the previous owner of that gorgeous hunk o'brass giving it to his 3 year old (okay, maybe 8 or 9 year old...) to paint. ...and Tom? I think you're just joshin' us about how much you 'hate' stripping/regearing/remotoring/tuning up your locos.
Ulrich, good to hear you got a good night's sleep (unlike poor Barry's night...). Hey, our bodies have their ways of getting their required sleep if we don't give it to them any other way. Good to hear that your sentence is almost over at the Gulag, and that you're proceeding with your cruise company plans as well. The further along you can get with those, the sooner you can 'hop' over to the American side of the pond.
Lee, sounds like your roundhouse sold for a good price (depending on your shipping costs). Hey, six stalls on your Atlas is a good number (unless you were like Tom and have a gazillion articulateds to house...). Thanks for your email! As for your weather, we're getting rain tonight (and lucky for us, the temps are staying above freezing down our way). I think by maybe sometime tomorrow it might drop below the 'sn*wline' temp - the weatherguessers were saying we might get a half-inch (centimeter or so) of the white form by late Friday or Sat. a.m. Shouldn't be too bad, except for the transitional period, depending on if it slacks off or stops the precipitation around then...
Robby, bear in mind that not ALL roadkill even gets as far as the centerline, you may need some on either lane (depending on where the varmits start from). Some that I've (over the years) 'squashed' didn't even seem to have made it to the middle of my lane. I can recall one raccoon (sniff!...), another that was at night and I had no clue what it was (except that it was NOT a skunk or polecat!), and one long (black)snake - which looked like it was trying to double back out of the way as I got up on it. That's all I can recall for my standing score... You're right, if you had road kill right before the centerline swerves, it'd look like that was why they 'curved'.
AztecEagle - congratulations on (soon) becoming a great uncle again!
Well, on the MRR'ing side of things, today I started going through my MR and RMC collection, and found I have more issues than I had recorded in my list on my 'puter (that's good, so long as I can get all of a year's issues assembled together for when I want to track one down... (Garry? Did y'notice that one? ). I think I probably had pulled some issues out of the holders or binders to start on a project from an article, but never got further along on it. Oh, does that sound familiar!
Haven't seen anything from JR or Bama, who I think might be able to give me an approximate ID on the brand of the scout van/truck that I had posted. From that, maybe I can find an HO model that would fairly closely match it.
I'll be at the RC for a bit and see who comes in. (So far, haven't had to go to the ER on any calls, which is good for me) Tonight and one more night and it's MY MRR'ing time! [YAY!!]
Prayers for continued healing and comfort for those in need of same.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Hello--
Chloe. What happened to everyone? Oh? OK---why? I left this morning and that was pretty well it---so----?
Oh well. Had a busy day today. Everything settled down at the house--found nothing was damaged/stolen from here but he did try to jimmy the garage door open with a crowbar. The frame and the door itself look to need some repairs done---I just did something of a temporary repair to it---the dang door opener still works!!
Chloe, I'll have a coffee and a slice of Pumpkin Pie please----I'll be at the corner booth for a bit
Evenin' folks!
Flo I'll have a hot fudge Sundae and a cup of decafe. I'll be in the back booth by the stove relaxing.
Well, the troop was here tonight. Only 6 of the boys made it tonight (8 in the Troop) but they had a great time. One asked if he could run a train. He is the oldest (mid 30's) and is a very responsible Scout. So out came the 3rd. throttle and he got to be engineer for the fruit train express. He did very well (he has run DC before but not DCC). Within 2 minutes he was on his own and having a great time. I gave his trian priority over the other 2 we had up and running. The guys running the trains were very helpful to the Scout(s) as well. Only had one derailment all night and THAT was from a run turnout.... We had a 20 car coal drag being pulled by a 2-6-6-2, the milk run (one reefer and two old Overland Coaches) pulled by a ten wheeler, and finally the fruit express, about 14 reefers, pulled by a Mike. When the Mike first hit the mainline out of the staging area the kid who is severely autistic started going nuts. He shouted, "Oh Cool! A Mikado!" He was grinning from ear to ear all night! Some of the guys have only one more requirement to do and they will be finished. I even got throgh to most of them who FRED is. The Scout driving the train looked and said, "This has a caboose on it". I said well back in 1925 they used cabooses. What do they have today? He immediately said, "Flashing Rear End Devise!" FUN!
Barry, we don't seem to have many incidences like you had in my neighborhood. Guy across the street has a 110lb American Staffordshire Terrier. He lets his owner know if anything is not right! I wouldn't want to be somebody who broke into his house...... He appears to be well behaved and gentle, but I don't go on their property unless the owner is outside! He is a BIG BOY!!!
OK, I have to go shut down the layout. We just left everything stopped but on when they left.
Barry- Glad to see you and property are safe and sound... Those people still haven't learned, check to see if the neighbor is a cop BEFORE attempting to steal anything from neighborhood... DUH! Lol
Well, I got lucky, the instructor engineer I was working with got "bumped" from his job, but I was able to switch to his "new" job and continue to run with him! Now I'll have the weekend off! I start out of Bay Head on Monday... We shall see!
Hope everyone here has been well... I think we ought to get a guard dog for the diner. I don't like thinking that it's just Chloe and Flo in here at night!
We have a security system on our house. The neighborhood isn't bad, we just thought that having a NEW house in this neighborhood might attract the attention of some "unsavory" characters and wanted to protect the house and garage. I'm glad we did, we've heard of some breakins in the next section over recently... I believe that if the government GAVE every law abiding citizen a weapon, we would see crime reduce quite dramatically! Oops sorry
Well, I had better get ready for work. Sign-up time is 2:19am in NY Penn, and I have to catch the train at 12:40am out of Morrisville Yard in order to deadhead to NY, where I take over the train and take it to Sunny Side Yard in Queens!
TTFN!

Evening all from AgainRainyCal:
Ah, yes, we got a peek of sun for a couple of days, but Alaska and Hawaii couldn't stand it, so they BOTH sent us a storm that's supposed to last until Saturday. Hasn't really hit (according to our weatherpersons), but it should move in Large Scale tonight.
Of course, it's rain and cold, so Uff-Dah the Wegie and Spooky the Maine Coon are just beside themselves with sheer, unmitigated joy. Hey, it could be worse, I could have Abyssinians and they'd be hoping for a DROUGHT, LOL! Right now, the Northern California Water Table is at about 115% of normal, and we haven't seen that in almost six years, so nobody's really complaining.
Barry: I hope Spring survived those neighbors of yours. Hoo boy, sounds like a real PACK around your house. Hope the garage door isn't too expensive. I've got a couple of weird neighbors down the block, but nothing like that!
Ray: What a GREAT Troop meeting that must have been for you. Cheers to you for doing that. I love that caboose comment, LOL!
Sawyer: Take it easy and careful, my friend. Rugby and Bronchitis are not a good mix. Rest up, okay?
Todd: Thanks for the compliment. My 'rescue' locomotive is kinda/sorta like my Uff-Dah, who was a 'rescue' purebred Norwegian Forest Cat. He came to me very shy and very introverted, he's now a Major Goofball. Hopefully, my 'baby' rescue locomotive will turn into a good runner.
Speaking of: and you KNEW I was going to give you all an update: Said 'baby' brass Mallet got worked on until the wee hours, last night. Stripped the rods with DioSol, there was paint on paint WITHIN paint on the rods and eccentrics, couldn't strip the paint from the drivers because of the reaction that might happen between the DioSol and the insulation, but a few drops of LaBelle #8 at strategic places assured a rear driver set that started running extremely smooth. For safety's sake, I did the same to the front set of drivers, hooked them up, applied a little power, and the little girl's mechanism just HUMMED. Set it aside. Got up early this morning, applied a little power in both directions. Still HUMS. Which means, it crawls forward and backward quite smooth.
Okay, mechanism is in good shape. After school I went over to Bruce's for some stuff. Here's the fun part. I looked for lead sheet weights. Always found them there. Couldn't find them at all. Asked Frank, my buddy, he gives me a very Conspirital Look. "They're HIDDEN," he whispers. Leads me back of the counter, opens a 'secret' door. I look at him. "How come they're hidden?" "It's LEAD," he whispers. "And?" I ask. "A woman came in with her husband," Frank looks around to see if we're being overheard. "She saw them on display and threatened to call the authorities because we had poisonous, Cancer-causing materials where anyone could get hold of them."
I just stared at him. Then I remembered: I live in CALIFORNIA, where EVERYTHING causes Cancer, according to the Idiot Liberals who just keep MULTIPLYING here! If you don't believe me, TRY and find Corning Pink Extruded Foam around here.
"Well, I'll take a one-pound pack of poison," I shrugged. Frank chuckled. We sneaked it up to the counter. "They DO know that I wash my hands with soap and hot water after using this stuff, don't they?" I asked Frank. "No," Frank grinned, "Remember, out here in California, men are stupid and need to be protected from themselves."
I sighed. "Oh, yah, forgot."
Anyhow--next part of the 'rescue' project: re-weight the boiler of that cute little 'rescue' loco of mine.
Ulrich: I'd post pictures, but seriously, once I get started on the various parts of this EXTENSIVE project, I just get too involved to find the camera, LOL! I will try. I promise!
So that's it so far from RainyCalifornia.
Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Lone Star please. I need it. Well not really. I just realized a few hours ago, by getting Brenda's car in the garage, which I did and am now a hero by the way, I have more drive to clear! Work went well and we haven't any snow yet. So far.
Aztec- I hear ya on the country music. I don't even hardly listen to the radio any more. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings (my favorite), Willie, Bobby Bare, Merle, George oh the list goes on. They live on cd's and that's just about all I listen too. Early congrats on the great Uncle too!
Jim- I don't see anything wrong with code 100, I guess I just remember when I was young in the early to mid '70's, back when music was good, I'd read in Model Railroader and I could swear it was called Railroad Modeler, but not sure, about code 83 and knuckle couplers. I always said that my dream layout would have both. So, I got 'em!
Der- Yup, same idea! Thanks!
Tom- With your love of the steam loco I have no doubt this little jewel has found the perfect home. And once your done nursing her back to health, she will return the favor and perform beautifully for you.
Well, time to hit the hay. Prayers for those in need.
Good evening, I hope everyone had a great day! Looks like we are going to dodge yet another big weekend snowstorm. The Mid Atlantic states are going to get hit with a blizzard with up to 2 feet of snow. Get your Blue Boxes bought guys, you may be snowed in for days with all that snow in areas that don't get that much.
WS order arrived today, and progress resumed on the elevated track and is nearly complete.
DUKE: Yes, I read in Trains Magazine that 1225 needs boiler work, and that certainly will mean a years time, as this cost is high and very labor intensive for volunteers.
LSWrrDick, we will continue to add 2 minutes of daylight now until the next equinox. That is if you’re above 40 degrees north. I haven’t figured the time of day equation for less than 40.
LEE: If you go to Google satellite view maps, you can get the Latitude of any location in degrees, and from there do your calculation. Here in central MA we are gaining about 2.3 minutes a day.The sun set today at 5;03.
Midnight....time to hit the sack, see you guys tomorrow
Good Evening Diners!
It has been a while since I was last in and catching up on all the posts has been a coffee bucket job but thanks to Chloe's never ending pot I have now done so.
Rob, I sure hope you are feeling better soon and that the doc's can find out what is ailing you so treatment plan can be put in place. Besides I'll be needing advice soon on my N scale project just as soon as I get the harbour extension done on my HO layout. I have purchased the foam and a few sticks of wood so I plan to get started on it this weekend, assuming I don't get assignments from the CEO.
I've been busy this past week putting together a Blueprint boxcar kit. I reallly like those kits and except for the incorrect instructions to use a #75 bit to drill out the grab iron holes, they go together well. I find that a good poke with a pin works just fine to ream out any paint from the holes.
Todd/Chris, I can absolutely fully relate to a wife who talks to you while walking away and then says I'm getting old as I am hard of hearing. She does it while we are walking on the street and sometimes I just let her walk on ahead. I usually don't even try to keep up as she has very long legs and I have short ones and I refuse to run. Not sure what passer-bys think of a woman talking to what they think must be an imaginery husband--maybe she's talking to a Harvey.
Tom, I think you should set up a brass loco rescue. Who says you have to give them back once they are rehabilitated, after all it is an act of charity and goodwill.
Oh well time to get ready for work tomorrow. Things aren't going too well so far this year as we have lost 2 major accounts and we are only 1 month into the year. There will be more staff cutbacks but I'm ok as I've been there so long the severance would nearly take me to retirement so they'll likely keep me and get some work out of me. Besides I collect the money and we really need that now.
Good night from Winterpeg,
CN Charlie
Tall glass of lemon water, please.
***Ray, that Scout train session sure sounded like a lot of fun. Good thing for you my wife and I don't live next door or we would be wanting to join in all the time.
***CNCharlie, the disease is sarcoidosis. All problems stem from that.
Made it into the train room tonight with a small bucket of thickly mixed tile mortar and a putty knife. Went to town on making some rocky outcrop surface stuff just below the farm on the hill and behind the wife's town. Even added a few sprinkles of various turf stuff for effect. We shall see how it looks when dried. First MRR'ing progress in a long time. Had much fun doing it, too.
Received a nice note from the new doc and she said all lab results were within normal limits, except total bilirubin. Can do the direct & indirect tests next time to see what the source is. Nothing I am concerned about. I'm just pleased to have PROOF that my diet change took care of the cholestrol and BP problems and that I didn't need those drugs in the first place. I believe I can also fix my heart & perhaps overcome the sarc through diet and following the MP, but that will take two or more years to accomplish.
Winds here tonight are 35mph+ with very cold rain. Some of gusts seem way higher. Nights like these are hard on some of the older critters.
Have a good night y'all.
Hello .... I'll have KY derby pie (normal portion) and some decaf, please.
Jim said .... "Well, on the MRR'ing side of things, today I started going through my MR and RMC collection, and found I have more issues than I had recorded in my list on my 'puter (that's good, so long as I can get all of a year's issues assembled together for when I want to track one down... (Garry? Did y'notice that one? ). I think I probably had pulled some issues out of the holders or binders to start on a project from an article, but never got further along on it. Oh, does that sound familiar!"
So, JIm, I see you have issues.
Also, Jim, you are looking for a truck to resemble the Boy Scout truck. I suggested the CMW REA truck in your thread. Before that, I thought of the smaller delivery truck by CMW as you can see my gray one at the Texaco station.
Barry, sorry to hear about the breaking and entering. It was about 1 1/2 years ago that our daughter in law came home with the two grand daughters, An intruder was inside the house. Scary! ... Now, they have a huge dog which is a mix between a great dane and a pit bull. ... Plus they have an alarm system. No intruders anymore.
Ray ... That's really great about Boy Scouts working with model trains like that.
Cal Tom ... It must be a challenge at times dealing with the goofy librals out there as you described. Don't let them see the new mallet or your yellowstones. I can only imagine what form of cancer they might cause.
Rob ... the doc report sounds encouraging. Hope you can continue the progress.
Happy Model Railroading !!
Dick, one of the beginning tasks for a young BM was to open up the Air Almanac or the Nautical Almanac and determine sunrise and sunset for morning reports. I found a copy in the office last week and was seeing if I could remember how to do it. Kids these days just have to go to weather.com and they get it without the work.I went to LHS and found they were out of mineral red and SOO red, the two colors I used to paint the bricks for the roundhouse (I needed to touch up the bricks after painting the lintels and foundations). So I used the next closest color and China Red. Not bad a little darker than my first combination, but now I have to finish the long walls of the roundhouse and machine shop. Once I get passed this stage the buildings will go up quickly.Articulated you say? The L.S.& W. roster boasts some of the most modern locomotives on the Great Lakes. One 2-8-8-0, three 2-8-8-2, one 4-4-4-4, one 4-6-6-4, one 4-8-8-4, two 2-8-4, two 2-8-2, two 2-10-2, one 0-6-0, one 0-4-0, one 4-8-2, one 4-6-4, and two 4-6-2. So I need to have the room for 7 articulated, 10 standards, 2 goats, and 2 critters. Not to mention the four GP7’s. I only own 8 new locomotives, the rest are Mantua or Rivarossi units from 1969-1985 vintage and need some TLC. Off of the turntable I have two long ash tracks for storage for those that won’t fit around or in the roundhouse.
Good morning, Lee. Where is everyone this morning? ... Sounds like your roundhouse will be a good one.
I'll have a coffee and a donut. I'll see if chow hounds will show up later.
Good morning. We are under a winter storm warning. The weather guy is calling between 8-12 inches of snow. Most of it not till early morning, when I have to drive to work ,
Not much planned today. Didn't do anything on the layout yesterday. I might head to the basement later thou.
Hope everybody has a good morning.
Mornin. Just stopped in to not get too far behid. Nothing going on yet, and it's starting to snow now so maybe not too busy at work tonight.
Think I'll tear up some more RR.
