Evenin' folks!

Flos I'll have a decafe and a slice of that birthday cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream right beside it, please and thank you!

C'mon Barry We all caught you crunching those cookies the other day, but then almost everyone was (with the exception of a couple who insist on dunking them in their coffee).

Almost ready for Thanksgiving feast here at the Howard household.  Pies are baked and in the refrigerator (keep your hands off!).  Squash has been cooked and just needs to be baked tomorrow.  Turkey has been thawing in the fridge for a few days.  And... the house is more or less clean.  OK so it is less clean, it will have to do.  I am bushed and ready to just sit around and relax for the rest of the evening.

My sister from South Bend should be arriving shortly (if she got an early start like she hoped to).  We'll spend most of the evening just chatting and catching up on family stuff I think.

I may start on another CD transcription while I am waiting.  Catch yu all later!

Spent a few hours over at my sister's place watching she and her husband move furniture to make room for the holidays. I mostly stayed out of the way and watched but I also lent a hand where needed. Wish I could have done more but my meds really drag me down.

Robby, happy B-day.Happy B-Day

Todd and Barry, leave some cake for us to eat, huh?

Went to Panama city today to do some more parts hunting. I managed to get a prop rod, a few switches (for lights, not trains), the clear piece of the intrument cluster, and some brake brackets. All were

Yesterday I got bored and rigged together a small switching layout:

The construction materials are plywood, cardboard, and duct tape.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evening all. Chloe, I'll take a bacon cheeseburger and a RBF, thanks.

Day off today was GREAT. Aside from some homework, did absolutely nothing!

Last night was great. Took the train into NYPS, and then saw the Jimmy Buffet concert! It was so great! Those things are so much fun.
And on the way out, I got lucky. I got my first experience on a Multilevel! It was a great ride, and was very pleasing to ride in. I have a few photos in the "My Photos" link in my sig. I also have a few shots and videos from the concert and NY, which I'll also put on Flickr.

Is there any cake left? I'll take a slice over at the RC while I talk.

Robby:

Todd:

Sounds like a plan! I'll be waiting to see the end results. I'm sure it'll be good, but please, prove it!!!!
...

Old king Todd was merry as a cod, and merry as a cod was he.

He called for his bowl, he called for his pipe, and he called for a SHRUBBERY!

Good evening everyone. I'm taking the probable merriness of cod from the known euphoria of clams! Had, as you see, a productive day in between the usual HDs and so on. Mind you getting the "mulch" to dry so I could plant the trees and get the pic in here tonight took some forcing!

Jeff:  Glad you're leg is a bit better today. 77, that's a tad low, what do you do about that? Surprisingly, I had an 88 after my walk this evening. I've been running more to the high side trying to get used to the new quick acting insulin, and this "4.9" (conversion factor is 18) today meant I could have a second "remedial" dessert!Whistling

2Truck: 31/2% grade can work, but how long a run would that be? What length trains do you plan on having? My 2 cents

Sam: We'll be thinking of you for Monday. You'll do just fine!Thumbs Up

Sawyer:

John, no prob. I usually get about 4 or 5 clumps from one bundle of strands I pull form the bag.
...looking for scenery material today I found a bag of WS grass fibre! I'd forgotten I had that!  Now I can experiment!Yeah!!

Vincent: Love those thrown together out of desperation mini-layouts! And the Hnady-man's secret weapon to boot!Bow

USA Folks, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. God Bless.

Hold it, hold it, hold it, HOOOOOLD IT! How did I get involved in this. I was merely warning of a potential, er, a, hazard. Yeah, that's it a hazard.

Vincent- Pleased to see duct tape is involved young man. You have potential..

John- Wonderful! And you even gave it that two level effect! I do believe that was just the ticket. A little something to break up the space. Looks great! Now, next project. Model someone cutting down the mightiest tree in the wood wiiiiiiiiiiiiiith.......... (seriously it does look great)

Jeff- I'm glad you didn't place your desire to help above your well being today. Reward yourself tomorrow with an extra serving.

Tomorrow folks, is my favorite holiday so I will turn in early tonight and see you all on the morrow.

Prayers for those in need. For healing, rest and especially for safety for those traveling to be with loved ones or loved ones traveling to be with you if that is the case. Angel

Evening, Chloe - any of Robby's birthday cake left? It's not 'rust'-colored, is it? Wink Okay, I'll have a slice with a ATSF mug of coffee, please. Thanks!

(Notice I used a rust color in your honor...)  Hey, sounds like you have enough done for some MRR'ing fun - a few yard tracks, a few laps around the layout, sounds fine to me!

Trainman Sam - about the Diner moving...Laugh Will keep your verbal exam on Monday in mind and AngelAngel Congrats on passing the physical characteristic part (what do they have you do on that, anyway?).

Vincent, that layout looks like it might keep you occupied for a few hours or so. Smile,Wink, & Grin

About time for me to finish up my cake and head for home. Starting on-call at 8 a.m., and I want to get that roast into the crockpot by or before then, so it can be cooking even if I get called out.

Blessings and prayers for a great Thanksgiving Day for all of you Diners,

HAPPY  BIRTHDAY ROBBY!!!

Chloe, is there any of that birthday cake left or have those chow hounds eaten it all? Oh great, thanks for saving me a piece.

I was busy last night painting that IHC dining car interior and I got to the galley area and lo and behold, one of the items for the galley/kitchen is a Pie Locker!  I wonder if this could be the actual model for our Diner? I better keep quiet in case PC hears about it or even Barry has been known to go all squinty eyed when he hears the word, pie.

Hope all of you South of the Border have a great day tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you with not a little envy when I'm at work and you are tucking into a turkey dinner.

Early this evening I hooked up the antibiotics and I got colder than ever, so much so I went into chills and was shivering so badly I could mix a drink by just holding the glass. I'll be glad when this is over. I didn't dare work on anything.

Mornin' everyone!

Flo just a cup of dark roast coffee right now. I'll be at the Rivet Counter with Barry for a bit.

Turkey is stuffed and in the oven, the extra stuffing is in the Kroc Pot.  I got about 5 hours of sleep last night...........  My sister from South Bend arrived about 9PM last night so we sat up and chatted until about 1AM.

Oh, and thank you Barry!  Funny I don't feel any older.........Whistling  #63 today.

I think Selector made a good judgment call with the thread.  I thought it would get locked back on page 3.  I could feel the pressure starting to build. Whistling

I'll be back as time allows today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Before I begin preparing food for dinner and also getting ready for the guests. I'd just like to say thanks for a few things. The fact that I am luckier than some at this time of year and in this economy. My family and my friends. I'm also thankful that I arrived at the diner this year. The twenty third was my official anniversary in that I signed up then, but I actually lurked for a while to see how things were here as compared to other places. I'm thankful for each and everyone of you, you are my friends also. The conversation, the laughs, the sharing of good times and bad times, and yes the modeling. Believe it or not, my modeling has improved and I have gleaned invaluable advice and tips from many conversations and pictures. I'm thankful that all of you are forthcoming and eager to share the knowledge you have acquired and suggestions for improvement.

I'm sure glad you guys are not a "my way or the highway" group or I would not have anyone to share my meager RR accomplishments with. Let's face it, even if we don't care if people like our way of doing things or not, it is always nice to speak with someone who does. Or at least doesn't mind and understands your point of view. Having a MRR in the basement has been a dream of mine since I received a stack of Model Railroader and I believe it was called Railroad Modeler, magazines the neighbor down the road was going to throw away. And since I had a trainset for a few years already, I‘ll call it that because that‘s just about all it really was, they gave them to me. WOW! I never saw anything like those layouts! That was about 1976or 7. I've finally got my chance and though it would have satisfied me to just have it, it is much nicer to be able to enjoy it with others.

To sum it all up I just want to say..... THANKS!!!! To you all.

Have a Great Day!!!!

Well 4 ½ pages. Not bad, for a bit there I really thought it could hang in there for a bit longer. Crandell obviously felt differently and judging by the last couple posts there were a couple that well, just might have sounded a bit harsh. You know short sweet and in large type. Oh well he was probably right to end it while it was still civil. Still 4 ½ pages of relative calm. Maybe we are learning to get along.

HEY! Looks like we've got us a new business relationship here. The L&A and the L.S.&W.

But I still wish I could be there with you guys, it would be a great time.

Maybe we could surprise Barry with a  PUMPKIN PIE  that would take him awhile to clean up.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Wishing all a save and happy holiday.  Thanks to our friends north of the border for the blessings.

I followed the cake crumbs down the tracks to find you guys and gals.

Todd -  Nicely said and, of course, I agree 110%

ns - You were right, we'll be getting the doubledeckers on the direct run from Bayshore here on the Coastline.

So busy with my research paper I forget to check in with you guys.  I finally recieved my carfloat apron from Walthers.  Maybe during winter break I'll see some sort of progress.(he says wishfully)

This year is the first without the folks, feel a bit lost.  My sister Diana (she's single) wanted to spend it alone but my other sister is driving up from Maryland at the last minute.  I thought she would want to spend the holiday with her family.

I was invited to join my friends family for dinner, so I'll see my sisters on Saturday instead.

Well, once again, Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Eric

The homasote roadbed order arrived, so I'll be sanding down the subroadbed (making sure it's level) and installing the homabed this weekend. It will be a dusty job, but then I can begin laying track!
