Jeff: Hopefully you'll find things be better in that department

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes and a side of bacon this morning.  Don't forget the NYS Maple Syrup and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug.

We are under the same wind advisory here in the Finger Lakes that several of you have mentioned. Currently 52°F under cloudy skies and rain showers.  Winds WSW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of rain 60%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.  High of 54°F this afternoon.

Have to get ready for the Board of Deacons meeting this evening and do some shopping today.  May get some more done on a Tichy flat car I have started to assemble.  Someone asked how I liked them a couple days ago.  So far the kit is very well done.  The parts fit where they are supposed to and the directions are very well written and clear.  Every part is numbered as well.  A lot of very small parts make this definately a Craftsman style kit.  Definitely not a "shake the box" kit.

Well, I see my pancakes are ready so I'll be at the Rivet Counter for a while.

I got up this morning and found that I had no internet service which equals no phone service. So I went down to my parents place to make a few phone calls concerning today's activities. While there I found that their cable TV service was out, so that explained my lack of internet service. From there I went about the days business. First on the list my my appointment with my primary care physician. We went over the results of my lab work and he checked to make sure that I'm having no problems with my central line. The only problem I have with it is that it's there but it beats the heck out of being confined to a hospital bed for a month. I also got a dizziness problem addressed. This proved to be because of a hard wax buildup in my left ear so I got some ear drops which are supposed to soften it. I'll be going back to him in a week so he can wash it out. After all that was done was done I came home and did my home IV treatment while I watched some Mythbusters on the tube and had lunch. Tomorrow morning I'll be going to see the foot doc and we'll go over the results of yesterdays bone scan.

BTW, my vision is slowly clearing. I'm able to see a dimly lit room now though with very little clarity. Driving on a cloudy day is still somewhat of a challenge but not impossible.

Afternoon folks!

Jeff, glad that your vision is clearing up now!

Hope all is well with everyone else! Just make a drive by and will try to catch up later...

Monique has the flu it seems, hope she is better soon. <<cough...chough>> She called the doc office and told the nurse her symptoms and they told her to stay home and rest. Has an appt for tomorrow.

Garry, best wishes, thoughts and prayers for the heart surgery.

Hello everybody ...

My brother-in-law's heart surgery went well and he is sitting up at the hospital. Thanks for the kind remarks and prayers.

I've stayed home with the flu myself. It's a doozy. Didn't go to doc. He would say to stay home and rest. I can figure that out on my own. It'll just run its course. Today is better than last 4 days.

, Chloe, I'll have a small ribeye, Caesar salad, steamed broccoli, a peach half and a glass of your fine Finger Lakes wine, please. Thanks!

(Oh, for those who haven't been on Google today, the above is in honor of the 60th anniversary of the development of bar codes - those wonderful things that sometimes won't scan at the supermarket...)

I'll join Barry at the RC to have my dinner (unless he's extra hungry tonight...).

Johnboy, I'd forgotten about the mudjacking incident details Dunce - have you (or - cough! ahem.. - Vinnie...) talked with the perpetrators about getting things correct? I'm sure Vinnie would love a chance (or even another chance) to polish up his, uh, 'brass'... How much of a rise and/or dip did the varmits shift the floor on ya? And a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to you!

Attaboy - Sign - Welcome back to the Diner, and congratulations on soon becoming a loyal member of the ORF Society! I hope you have been starting your practice on your naps - you do realize that is a prime requirement for any card-carrying ORF Society member, right? Well, maybe except for a few of our Diners who've found 'retirement' to be busier than w**k ever was, that is. Oops

JR, glad to hear you have the rental cleared out. Next, the storage containers, right? Hope that goes smoothly and quickly as well. Thumbs Up

Barry, I see you are really lllllooovvvvvving that weather that we sent along your way, eh? Batten down the hatches, the doors, and anything that's loose around the place! Shock HEY! It's not nice to throw garbage can lids at people, y'know?!

Jerry, are you and Sallie on the second floor of your apartment building (or at least, on some high ground)? I hope so, if you're having a flash flood watch there.

Jeff, should you put a sign on the car to warn the other drivers, with your vision 'impaired'? Wink And watch out that the doctor on your next visit doesn't bring out the power washer that he uses to clean off the side of his house, for your ear cleaning. Smile,Wink, & Grin Good to hear your vision's improving, though.

Ryan, better watch that coughing or they'll have you in that bubble that they put Sawyer in when he had the flu! Will add Monique 'losing' that flu, to the AngelAngel list. Those cookies look yummy, by the way. Dinner

Garry, do you  have your chicken noodle soup, Gatorade or 7Up, tissues and cold medicines? I'm trying to figure out whether we'll get the (regular) flu shots in before I come down with it this year. Still debating about the 'other' flu shot at this point...May depend on whether w**k requires us to get that one. The local hospitals got their 'other' flu shots in this week (and their people will get most of this batch). Will add your health to my prayer list, and good to hear your B-I-L is sitting up and starting to progress on his healing.

Ah, it's payday, time for a little happy dance...Whistling Got money orders for a few bills over lunch today, and will have the local ones taken care of by Friday.

Time for me to get to my dinner, before Barry gets his second wind on dinner... Will add to the AngelAngel list our increasing list of those needing healing/recuperating, comfort, strength, and/or good night's sleep (or morning, as the case may be).

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hey Rob.....Just wanted to say thanks again for the prints you sent a while ago.  They're hanging in our bedroom and so we look at them every evening.  They really are quite special.  On another note, I pray you and the Mr.s are hittin' on all 8 cylinders soon!

 Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have one of those Apple Strudels if you have any left.  A cup of decafe to wash it down with would be nice as well.  I'll be at the Rivet Counter.

Jim you certainly have good taste!  May I suggest a glass of Salmon Run Pinot Noir 2007 to go with that ribeye?

Drove to Canandaigua in the wind today.  A big truck in front of me was having trouble keeping moving and was almost blown off the road a couple of times.  Coming home was a breeze though.  Whistling  I had the car just off idle in 5th. gear and just let it coast.  Gusts were in the 50mph range at times. I looked out the window early this afternoon and a small plastic ball went flying by the house at about 40mph.  I think it is now caught on the fence across the street.  We did have just a little bit of sunshine .  Of course it was also raining at the same time.      Sideways.

Had a great Deacons meeting tonight and hopefully have everything in order for the Kabob Lunch a week from Sunday.  One of the Youth Deacons and I have to do a pitch for the lunch this Sunday.  Since the kid and I are good friends (I was his adult sponsor when he joined the church a couple years ago) and I know he has the same off the wall sence of humor that I do, it should be fun!  I wrote up a short script with several sight gags and puns in it.  He missed the meeting, so I emailed the script to him.  He loved it.  Now I just need to find a rubber chicken........  One of the sight gags has me picking up a bag of lettice and throwing it to him.  He holds it up and says, "tossed salad!"  Hey, they knew what we are like when they asked us to do this......Whistling

My prayers for all of you in pain and who have the flu, and all the other stuff going around.  Have a great evening!

Evening all, sorry about not being around a whole lot.  Life does things like that.  I'll just have a hot fudge sundae, go easy on the nuts and I'll take it in the window booth.  W**k has been pretty busy recently, along with just regular life in general.  Amy's about ready to pop so I haven't been able to visit as regularly as I'd like.  My FIL has also had an accident (on the bike too) and has broken his left collar bone (blessedly a clean break right in the middle, no need for surgery or anything else).  So I've been pretty darned busy keeping things up.

Jeff, Rob, and Ulrich  Glad to hear from all of you and glad to hear that all of y'all are doing better.  Weather around here has been pretty "different"  Beginning of the week was all rainy and crummy, and now it's turned into "normal" fall, cloudy and gray in the morning but then warming up nicely and getting all sunny and pretty.  Well, I guess I'll be yielding the floor to everyone else and eating up this wonderful sundae (thank you ladies, from the bottom of my heart).

Thoughts, prayers, and healing to all!

Evenin' all.

Small blessings are my list today.  No personal issues except the dang ol' knee that swells and crips me up for a week or two and then goes away like magic.  Patient wife whose knee problems make mine pale by comparison (total replacement in June and now almost fully normal) says I need to go see her ortho, but when it's working O.K. I just sort of ignore what is probably the right advice.

Blessings comes every day when our 3 and 1 1/2 year old grandkids come to spend the day while their mother teaches 3rd grade and their dad works in law enforcement.  In this case the blessings of these beautiful kids is magnified by watching them grow.  Eight  plus hours a day with small children is hard work at our age, but we're aware every day that others have tougher jobs and longer hours.

Big blessing today was the final resolution of an electrical problem on the layout which had me ready to box up my MRC Prodigy Wireless and send it in for repair.  Thanks to Frank at MRC customer support, we worked through  the matter and it ended up being a fumble-finger wire  connection I made.   You'd think after doing this stuff for 40 years, I'd know better.

I believe I've earned a banana split at the closest booth with an open seat.

See you tomorrow.

Good Morning All,

Seems quiet here without Jeff to open the diner. 50F and cloudy now but the high winds have died down and the rains stopped. Made more progress on the house last night with curtain rods in the daughters room and some of the bookshelves done. Did spend a late evening at the shop ironing out some mods on the Lotus 23 to see if we can get it to pull better at lower revs as the next track is Road Atlanta next week and the single most critical corner is the very tight one leading onto the main straight.

Hope y'all are doing ok and prayers for those in need. Gotta run as there is still lots to do today. CUL, J.R.

Hi, I'm back already.

Jim, I have definitely been practicing my naps.  I think my supervisor is getting a little annoyed with it. Whistling  I don't know how much time I will have to nap when I retire, Pat is already working on her "Honey do" list.

I might go to the train show in Timonium on Saturday, I haven't decided for sure yet.  I could really use that time to get some things done around the house.  Plus my truck needs an oil change.  The garage didn't do it a couple weeks ago when I had it in.  They must have gotten busy with the new tires and wheel alignment and forgot the oil change.  That's a long way to go on old oil.

Here we are at w**k this morning and the computers aren't working.  The mainframe didn't map one of the servers and we can't access our main production software.  That's why I decided to visit the diner.  Beats twiddling my thumbs.

Well, think I'll check some other threads.  See you later.

Looks like I got TOTP, order up folks I have  room on my credit card this time.

 Good morning.

It's 78 and cloudy. The high will be around 90 and there's a chance of rain.

Gotta go see the foot doc today so we can go over the results of the recent bone scan. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I'm hoping there's no bone infection present. That would be very hard to ferret out and the doc would likely have to go in after it. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.

Good morning, The rain and the winds have stopped for the moment. Not much going on other than I spent last night looking up the proper name for some of my MOW equipment to add them to the Inventory list.

Morning, Coffee, ED's OJ and Petra's Strudel please. Thanks. Raining right now, I didn't look at the rain gage but probably pretty wet out. Yup. Today: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 56. South southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 47. East southeast wind around 9 mph becoming north northeast. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Looking at the radar, I'd say we are going to get some more.

Didn't get a thing done yesterday. Everytime I'd step towards the little railroad I'd end up doing something else. To top it all off, the only thing I actually got done of any consequence, was running the sweeper in the living room. Oh well, there's always today. I'm anxious to get a panel done so I can see how it will work. No wait! Today is Mom day. Maybe tomorrow.Sigh

Jeff- I hope the news is good today from the scan.

Robby- I think you're right. Your what's day and what's night schedule is turned around and it just doesn't matter if you get "enough" sleep or not after a bit you'll still feel groggy for a while. I should pass after a few more days. Kinda sorta like jet lag. (actually it could be called jet lag. Same reasons.)

Attaboy- Trust me Steve, don't plan on too many ORF naps. I did and boy was I disappointed Grumpy. I don't know sometimes how I had time for work!

By the way Robby, You've done better on the Railbox cars. Laugh

Oh by the way Zoe, Here's a roll of duct tape and some Vicks vapor rub for Chris when he comes in.

Good morning..

Things are getting back to normal again here.

Robby .... Railboxes are getting uglier as time goes by. I think Nik agrees.

Attaboy ... good to see you are visiting the diner again.

Bama ... Sorry your FIL injured himself. Looking forward to the news when Amy "pops"...... Let us know!

Jeff ... Hope you continue to get better!

Barry .... I am curious why you chose "bured out cylinder" for you name. Is there a story to that?

Jim ... Thanks for the thoughts. Flu is going away.

Mreagant .... Gad you are still visiting the dine. Grandkids are great, right?

I could not resist a sale in the Walthers Flyer. The P2000 F7's detailed and painted for CB&Q are on their way here. I ordered 167ABC which is an F7 ABA set.

I need to thin out my fleet, but it has not been a sellers market on eBay for a long time prices are really low for old HO.

Looks like there is a seat at the table with JR, Todd, and Lee .... I'll join them for coffee

Happy Model Railroading.

Mornin' everyone!

Flo I'll have a bowl of Oatmeal with some brown sugar and my cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug.  Please and thank you ma'am.

There is an unusual brightness outside my house this morning.  Currently 53*F outside with no flying objects wizzing by.... Sun and clouds mixed. High 61F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.  Hopefully I can get the rest of the photos done for the quilt today.  My son's birthday is next week and I want to send the high res ones to him on a CD for his birthday.

Still have a face cord of wood to stack today and a Scout Camp Properties Committee meeting tonight.  So I can't sit and chat long.  I'll be at the Rivet Counter for a bit.

OH boy, I've been looking for a place like this,  even started a thread cuz I didn't think this place existed.  And when I did, it seemed like the thread was forever moving.  I couldn't follow it.  I'll probably have to make this my home page..lol.  The reason why I found this particular thread is because I was tracking down Phillip's threads.. and came across here.  And personally, I'm happy to be with other train lovers, I hope we can all talk alot about trains.... lol.  Anyways, I thought I come on in and say 'Hello'~  I'll be back, I got to drink some coffee...but do I have a story to tell.

Welcome to the diner Kieth! Sign - Welcome

Yep this is a great place to sit, chat and relax.  Just be careful what you say Vinnie keeps the place on the up an' up, if you know what I mean.  Yea that's him in the back with the Brass knuckles and the baseball bat.  You don't want to have to have a "personal" conversation with him out back.........Whistling

Oh I wouldn't bookmark this page cause it should be moving over to the next track fairly soon (about every 50 pages).  In the mean time try some of Ulrich's wife's (Petra) strudel.  It is GOOD!  I'm gonna have that instead of lunch today.  So sit down and chat for a while........

I no sooner left the computer but I got a phone call from the Scout Office.  Seams the situation with the packs is reaching critical mass and some changes have to be done.  One pack has only gotten 10 new boys this year and the other so far.... none.   Since the elementary schools have merged, only one of the packs will survive in the schools.  The other (my pack - commissioner) will be chartered by a local church... hopefully.......?  There are some leadership problems within each pack and a problem getting access to the Schools right now (change in principals).  We have to be careful how items are approached in order to not make the problems worse.  High level conference just took place with the District Executive, the The District Chair, and myself.  Hopefully we are all on the same page.  I know the DE and I are.

Well Thanks!  Both of ya!    I would have been here sooner, but I couldn't find the place.  So busy multi-tasking I couldn't find the sub tab amongst the ebay and some photobucket tabs.

""Tell us about yourself.."" lol.  Pull up a chair, both of you.  My favorite line is.. 'So tell me now, where ya from?"

I was born in a small town 57 years ago called Los Angeles~   But I grew up in a even smaller town called Rivera.  We even had a small train station stop there.. and a little general store called the "El Buen Gusto" right next to that.  Maybe I shall consider it in my layout.  Our home was next to the train yard which was next to the Ford Motor Company.  Busy place at night,  unless you grew up next to a train yard, you have no idea how loud the noises can be at night. Speaking of my layout, why I'm here.  This all started we'll say about 1.5 years ago,  Fathers Day to be exact. I found myself with my wife inside a hobby store.. early in the morning.  It had just openned up.. I bought some small stuff... to make a 'Fiddle Yard'.. nothing fancy.. but things had changed since my son and I had built a train layout.  We get back home.. its early, next thing ya know.. all three kids are out buying dad .. N scale presents for Father's Day.  Next thing ya know, its been now its been two Father's Day and one Christmas... I have just about everything a wonderful Dad could ask for.  Not to mention me being laid up in bed.. ebay was my only hope of getting out of bed and get moving.  Hey this is going to take a spell, better order desert while I order Lunch.  '" I'll have a Cheeseburger fries.. and a extra large coke. Thanks~"
