JimRCGMOJeff - good to hear your area's getting a break from the 'drizzlecane' of the past couple of days. Good to hear you got the old heater (and cabinet) out without any problems for your feet. That new heater sounds like you could even move a couple of hundred miles north and stay warm!
Haven't heard anything of Ulrich. Anybody got any info?

I was all excited because I'd finished my first full scale test of my railroad's paint scheme, but digital photography revealed to me that I did a terrible job of masking. The colors didn't hit right either. I airbrushed SP Scarlet and spray painted Model Master Panzer gray. The red seemed oddly thin out of the bottle and came out thinner than I'd like. And the gray dried much lighter than I'd expected. Despite how bright it is in the picture, its much darker in person. I was looking for a brighter red and have tested Testors Guards Red (BRIGHT!) but have trouble with it being mottled. Guess I really do need to learn how to airbrush so I can get the darker gray I'd prefer and maybe use Soo or CP red for the right color.

The gray vexes me. I used the same color on a building and produced the dark gray I wanted. I had primed with a light gray, and I wonder if somehow that had an impact. Tomorrow I am going to test spray my new red again and the gray on a shell thats been prepped with white Floquil.

Good Morning--#2
'Spring' sent my last attempt into the aether so I'm tryin' this ag'in--
This morning we have a bunch of fog for our viewing pleasure. The temperature is supposed to get to 28C for a high while the low will be 11C tonight. Still lotsa sun is forecast although yesterday it did the opposite---be dull dull dull and give us nuisance showers---
Today I have off so this'll give me a chance to pick up some last minute groceries and things for tomorrow I'll be doing work and starting evening classes-----
Flo, I'll go with the stack o' pancakes with maple syrup and a coffee please---I'll be over at the corner booth keeping Duke company--

Good morning. Looks like its going to be a sunny week all week.
I didn't get to stop by yesterday, its football season. I kinda park myself in front of the tv.
Not much planned today. Maybe just clean up the house some.
I will talk to everybody later.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Good morning. What's this? Pancakes? Well ok but I think I'll say this is the last day for pancakes for a bit. Could I get some coffee and a couple of whole hog sausage patties with these please. Thank you.
Yesterday went well I suppose. No hair loss other than the usually shedding. I skipped church to work at mom's because I don't have a day to spend there for the next week. It's not like I wasn't in communication with the Big Guy, I was talkin to him all the time asking for patience and understanding and to please put his hand on my head to keep it from blowing the top off. I did get the second floor done, just some trash that needs to be loaded up and taken to the elevator and put in the dumpster. So that makes the basement and the second floor done. Now just most of the first floor, some of the garage, the two sheds and the pole barn to go. I've decided to give up on reason and just let her take whatever she wants. It's easier that way.
Lee- That's a good idea on the leaves. Looking at our weather forecast I may have to borrow some of your glue. Where has the Summer gone.
Jim- We have crop dusters here too. When the corn gets too high for the Hagies and the beans too thick they use the planes. I like watching them too. I wouldn't want to ride with them, my spot on the ground is juuuust fine with me.
Rob and Jim- Weeeeell I would love to help out in the strength department, but you see I sorta gotta twinge in my wrist and I'd better not further the damage. (also you'd find out I'm fairly full of Rob's avatar)
NittanyLion- The paint job does look good, but I agree that if I had to choose I would use a darker grey. The red looks fine from here. Ditto on Lee's safety stripe color suggestion.
Well not much planned for today. Of course the weekly bookwork for the church and then home for some stuff around here. Burning season opens tomorrow in Williamsville and I have a pile ready to go, The hose is attached to the outside faucet and has had a service check as has the lawn chair, some Blue Ribbon refreshments cooling down and some pulled pork BBQ ready to slap between some bread YEEE HAWWW! Might just go out and stomp it a bit to get the right compaction for a successful first burn. BUT... for today, straighten up the kitchen some, then.......CHOO! CHOOO! (hopefully). Might have to wash the dogs feet. They smell like corn chips again.
Have a Great Day!!

In order to keep my position as Master and Supreme Ruler of the House, I don't argue with my wife.
I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk.
LSWrrThe Cleveland Browns didn’t disappoint anyone here in town; they lost as usual.
An extra large coffee TO GO, please.
The cemet boys are here doing some scraping (with our tractor...which is why they're cheap I suppose) and setting up for the first pours. Wife wants a walk & pad in the garden for her Dad, when she brings him out for visits. (I can't say argue about that ne, eh!) Plus a small retailing wall, just outside the room under the porch that is the main reason they're here. It's raingin lightly here. With more in the forcast for the week, hard to say how much will get done.
Have a good one y'all.
Rob
Good morning. It's 76 and cloudy. The high will be around 80 and there's a chance of rain.Didn't get much accomplished yesterday with the exception of getting the old heater out of the house and getting the new one in. That becomes a real trick when you can't carry more than 15 pounds and you have to keep off your feet as much as possible, but I pulled it off. I still have to move the pieces of the old heater cabinet out to the roadside so they can be picked up with the trash. It took a good part of the rest of the day to get the room back in order. Today I have to go into town to turn in some library materials then go by the pharmacy to pick up some meds. Later I may have a chance to get some layout work done.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 9/14/2009Heat Index: 83°FHumidity: 93%Dew Point: 75°FSo Far TodayHigh: 77°FLow: 75°FRain: 0.13"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 8mph NNEThrough 10 AM...widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to develop and move north or northeast across the region. Morning Gang: Well It's been awhile again. I've been busy as usual. Who said retirement was relaxing? Anyway it's been raining for the last four days. We have six inches so far and more expected today and tommorow. I guess the drought is over for a bit. The pond is about a foot from full which it hasn't been in several years. The last time it was full I had pumped water into it from the frack pound which we still have. I'm about to send a resgestered letter to the company that built the thing and tell them to use it or loose it. These oil and gas companys will lie like rugs.
I haven't done any model railroading in ether HO or the live steam. There just seems to be something else that just has to be done all the time. When I leave the diner I have to work on the vacumme cleaner. Like I say always something. I was going to fix it a couple of days ago but when I went out to the shop I was covered with fleas right quick. I got some bug bombs and set two off Saturday and another last night. I hope that trakes care of them.
Well this isn't getting anything done. I'll see you all later. Have a good one.
Mornin' all! What a busy weekend! I had to teach both Saturday and Sunday, so on Sunday afternoon when I was done I just hopped on the bike and rode into the sunset. I rode for 7 hours and covered a ton of southern Indiana's country back roads. Tell ya what.......THAT, is good for the soul!So whats up with all of you today?
Good Afternoon, everybody,
this is the first day I am allowed to get up and walk around a little. Took me some time to walk into the lobby, where they have this internet cafe.
Something must have not worked out properly during the surgery. The docs kept me flat out for three days. I was out of intensive care on Saturday. Funny thing to go to sleep on a Monday and to wake up Thursday night...
I am alive, but still very, very weak. Most of the time I just sleep.
I am so grateful having been given a new chance in life. My sincere thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I will be back soon to follow up on what´s been going on here in the Diner in the meantime.
Flo, whatever the chowhounds here are having - it´s on me!
I´ll go back to my room to get a rest.
Good Morning...Its sunny and 70 here..Very dry Jeff send some of that rain up this way...I'll have coffee and coffee cake please...Thank You..You all have a good one...Jerry
Ulrich, Man, I don't know what to say. I've been praying for you. I do hope the doc's get things straight for you.
Ulrich: We'll keep praying boy!! Good to hear from you!!
Mornin' ....... Uh, guess it's Afternoon already!
Just coffee for me right now Flo.
Ulrich! Good to see that you are still with us. Many of us were starting to get worried. Glad you are finally up and around a bit. Hope that you continue to recover well and gain back more strength every day! My prayers go out for you, friend!
I must have gotten myself tired out at the Museum yesterday as I slept in until 10AM this morning. Have lots of housew**k to do today (laundry and stuff) and then a Martin Luther King Committee meeting this evening. I got a forwarded email this morning about one of our 2008 Scholarship winners. She has been named the Virginia State University Miss Sophomore for 2009-2010, is a member of the Honors Program at the University, is treasurer of the Virginia State University Gospel Choral, and is maintaining a 3.2 GPA. She was one of my students way back when I was teaching Music and a very neat young lady!!! Do I sound proud?
The cats are bugging me for lunch, so I best give them FOOD! Yes they know the word, as soon as I say FOOD they run to the kitchen and look at me........
Later!

ULRICH: Good to see that you are still with us!
Yesterday I won 1st place in the NWTF Mehoopany Creek Chapter Extreme Jakes Turkey Calling Contest without a call, using my mouth. My cousin won second, using the same technique that i learned from her.
I'm Happy
Woo!
See Yall!
Afternoon all, just stopping in for a RBF and a little catching up. I'm off work for the foreseeable future (too wet to work). So I'll probably be on here a lot more. Well, I've finally been approved to create a "wish/project" list for my layout. So far I've been working on an excel spreadsheet with all the stats that I've decided are important to me (and more importantly, for Amy, so she can surprise me with new locomotives and rolling stock and such). Its going to be a big list, but I don't mind, the layout is going to be a long-term project, so the acquiring of stuff can be long-term too.
It would also appear that we are at 50 pages, so if no one else does, I'll be happy to start a new diner, if someone could just link us back to the old one for reference's sake.
No rain for us in the forseeable future
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. West wind between 9 and 11 mph. Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 10 mph. Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Northeast wind between 10 and 17 mph.
Evening, Chloe, I'll have an oatmeal raisin cookie and a cup of hot cocoa, please.
Ah, looks like this is where the Diner used to be (judging from the empty spot here).
Here's the link to the new siding for the Diner (XVIII), to save a little looking for it...
