Why does THANKYOU ALL not convey how I feel re your out pouring of condolances.
The old timers have known me for the many years I have been a regular but for all , what we call the newbies, to also offer their prayers, overwhelms me. But , then again, we are a family.
So again, a grateful BIG THANKS.
Flip
p.s. Blessings and Prayers for all.
Hi Jeff- Just went to the closet to check - your cool. My U.P. 806 is still there. Enjoy it.

glad the foot is getting better. What about the wound? The salve still doing its magic?
Good Evening
Jeff: That is quite the find in a yard sale--and in that good a shape yet!! Good detective work there!
Johnboy: What caused it to go like that? Any ideas?
I got my evening classes all worked out so I'll be starting next week on them as well as the regular work---yeehaw I got to get some courses redone as I was sort of waylaid over the past few years---now we be doing dis---

Evening, Diners, Chloe. I'll have an open face roast beef sandwich, grilled chicken Caesar salad, glass of Finger Lakes wine, and in a little bit, a hot fudge sundae for dessert, please. Thanks!
TMarshI had all sorts of combinations flowing through my head. I was not at all thinking in the right direction.
Todd, we would never accuse you of thinking in the right direction, oh no!.... Oh, wait, it looks like after his big lunch with his Mom, Todd's joined Duke in the back booth for a little...
PC - cute bike, and that train looks like something else. Thanks for posting the pics!
Garry, I would say it's not too surprising that Diane had a great turnout to remember her and see her off (so to speak - I figure she was already home before the funeral). Good for Wayne to see all the people who thought well of her, too.
Robby, I'm surprised that your tooth doesn't do that trick of 'laying low' right before you're going to the dentist (kinda like the dog that misbehaves **except** for when others are around to watch...). Hope you get it taken care of smoothly at the dentist's. And great job on your backdrop - did you enjoy art classes in school? You sure are good at it in a lot of ways.
Nik.n - that's a bit too fancy of a coffee maker for me, all right! Heck, most of the time, I use instant and heat a cup of water in the microwave and then add the 'instant' stuff (well, until I ran out, so now I'm thinking about getting some more instant. I have ground cofee and filters, but only bother making it once in a while, on a Saturday. That one looks fancy, and nice!
Jeff, that's a great deal, particularly for $5! I'd about tell you what I said the other day (Did you wear a mask when you got it? ).If you're lucky, maybe that decoder plug will be workable and you'll be able to convert it easily to DCC, too.
Johnboy - I would certainly hope the contractor makes *everything* good after he/his crew messed up (more than one part of) the house. what Jeff said on that!Flip - as you said, family. You are quite welcome! Take care of yourself (and Deb). Glad to see you in a little more often, by the way.
Teen Steam, good to see you back - and you don't have to wait so long until next time, y'know? What've you been doing lately, by the bye?
Not too bad of a day today - at that office thingee, my co-worker was gone to give a presentation (he - lucky dog that he is - got hitched up with some grant on suicide prevention presentations in various community groups, etc.), so I had my 9:00 client (established client) and nothing else scheduled until noon. Covered three people in walk-in, then one follow-up client didn't show, and another at 2 had transportation glitches and had to reschedule. Got one intake assessment done and the other about 95 percent done. Should be able to wind that one up in the morning.
Let's see, how many hours until the weekend?.... I want to start using that tack hammer and get the track relaid (without all the gaps this time) and leads soldered. I'm leaning toward not going to the Boeing Employees' train show on Saturday. The main things I might want are details or possibly turnouts, and with the gas (shared or just driving myself) costs and eating out for the trip, I'm thinking I could better order what I need through our LHS owner/MRR club member. Besides the fact that if I go, we'll be leaving early, so I'd have to do laundry tomorrow night or else pay the laundry to do it on Sat. ... Think I may stay in town instead. Maybe I'll finish putting tabs on my new Walthers catalog, too.
Time to kick back and enjoy my after dinner dessert... Prayers will continue, especially for Ulrich, from whom we haven't heard anything since his surgery.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Jeff: Good job, but is this familiar?
I have the locomotive as well, but the older version. It is out of Bachmann's Overland set. Does yours have a pancake as well?
(EDIT: Oops! Mom put a image blocker on the computer I was on, so every pic had a big red X on it, so I did not see that you posted pics of it. Now I see that it is not the same loco. But it haveing the same numbers led me to thinking that you had this one)
nik .nDoes yours have a pancake as well?
Mmmmmm, pancakes!
Evenin' folks!
Just been able to catch up on the goings on in the diner today. I see we have a couple of people now sleeping in the back booth so I'll just have my cup of decafe and some of that SRP that Barry is slurping down with his RBF.... Yep I'll be at the Rivet Counter.........
This morning I helped my son take his youngest to the doctor for a vaccination and check up. While he had Emily in there, I go to watch my oldest Granddaughter out in the waiting room. We played with all the stuff they have there for little kids and granddads for about an hour before Art and Emily reappeared. Then we had to take them to daycare. Just about arrived when a train whistle blew and sure enough the FGLK was arriving in Geneva with a string of covered hoppers from the salt mine in Watkins Glen and a bunch of ballast cars probably in use down the line. Olivia got very excited and shouted Gampa! Choo Choo! We watched the train until Art parked the car and made us all go inside. Inside is nice too as several of the ladies who work there were also some of my favorite students over the years..........
Anyway! I then had to make a couple of side trips of my own around town, one of which was to drop off some posters I printed up for one of the Deacons. I walked in the church and was immediately accosted by the Associate Pastor who was arriving right after I arrived and ended up having a half hour meeting in her office. Our deacons are supposed to be putting on a Kabob lunch as a fundraiser for the Pastors Discretionary Fund which is now empty... We had a talent show that we put on every Spring canceled last year due to a dinner for the Capitol Campaign which is why the fund is empty now. Anyway the Finance committee scheduled a "Tea" (more Capital Campaign stuff) on the Saturday before the Sunday Kabob lunch. We need to have the kitchen on Saturday to make the kabobs. The calendar had just a ? on Saturday probably because we didn't know what time we needed it. In the secretary's absence a few weeks ago the "sub" let Finance have that date. So...... There are now several groups (as of Noon) all very "not happy" with each other" and most very unhappy with Deacons... Of course with me being Moderator of Deacons, that means..... So I pledged to help our Associate Pastor with all the needed "Peace Making". When I got home from The Boy Scout Camp Property Meeting tonight I got an email saying we may have an acceptable solution to the problem which is a bumping of dates for several other activities to a get clear dates for all the events. Now to see if the Board of Deacons will "Buy In".
Even with all that going on I managed to finish up another section of the layout skirting. This is now what you see as you stand at the bottom of the stairs in the basement: (Decided to get a nonflash photo of it.)
Oh, Jim, I not only drip my pot of coffee every morning (Dark French Roast), but start by grinding the whole beans..... makes a wonderful difference in the flavor. Oh yeah!!!
Hope you all have a great evening!

Good evening,
Ladies? PC, I think, mentioned pancakes...now I've got a hankering for a stack of the darn things... Yep, short stack, real butter, and how's about some of that really fine, fancy, ultra-good maple syrup someone in here was talking about a few months ago??? Yep again...over at the RC.
Well, pounded out some more content for THAT editor, should have her well-stocked for at least another week. During a bout of writer's block, I fired-up the awesome airbrush (with the intercontinental ballistic chrome cover...which has gone missing to some point unknown). The plan was to shoot the GP-40 cab with a coat of reefer white for primer. I've found it a lot easier to mask/paint the CNW scheme with the cab sitting somewhere else other than attached to the locomotive. I must not have cleaned it out the last time quite as good as I thought, as I had air flowing just fine, but no paint. After some fiddling, I got a short, quick burst...then just air. Fortunately, the blast did NOT land on the cab, but rather on the newspaper covering up the rest of the w**k table.
So, I went and cleaned up the tip again...and shazam! Worked great! A perfect light coat. Then, for reasons still undetermined, it kinda went ka-blooey on me! The finger lever fell right out of it. After much looking, cleaning, and futile attempting... I discovered the "rocker" looked askew and out-of-kilter. After much, much more cleaning, looking, and futile attempting; I finally "hooked" it just right with needlenose pliers, manuevered it to where it looked like it should go, the finger lever dropped in, the needle went in like it "should," and all is right with it again.
I still don't know how/why it did what it did...just glad I got it back together and functioning! Unlike the Testor's el-cheapo airbrushes I used to do battle with...I actually LIKE this one! The Testor's units ended up in the trash...hopefully this one won't be following them anytime soon!!! We'll find out in a few days when the cab gets hit with Floquil CNW green.
That was my excitement for the day...

Good morning. Coffee and a couple glazed donuts please. Thank you. Partly cloudy with a high of …. Seems like I’ve said this before. Long nite. (yeah I know it’s spelled ght but this just seems more efficient) and I’m tired. Hopefully I’ll get to Toddland (of which I’m king) tomorrow.
Jeff- My goodness you lucky dog. Five bucks! If you don’t come up a reason to run that baby I don’t know what to say! And runs good! What a find!
John boy - Ouch! Like was said before, I’d do some checking on what caused the other problems. Good luck on the solution.
Robby- That backdrop looks real good. You’ve got another talent there!
Oh my goodness! The Ooops message has raised it’s ugly head at 12:01 am on Sept 11th Eerie.
Flip- You know, you “old” guys have made us “newbies” feel so welcome we don’t even realize we haven’t been around forever. And yes you’re right we are all like family and everyones pain and sorrow is felt as if we’ve known each other all our lives. That’s another side of Model Railroading that some don’t get, the social side.
Jim- I’m glad you aren’t led astray by assuming I’m thinking correctly! And no, I did not get my ORF nap in after dinner and before work and I’m feeling it now!!!! Oh and by the way from where I’m at now, less than 24 hours til the weekend and I hope you’re not on call. You seem to get that a lot. You need a weekend to yourself to just relax.
What’s that I heard? Nik’s buying pancakes!? I’ll have a short stack. Of course the real Maple Syrup too please.
Chris- Ooooo that doesn’t sound good on the ole airbrush. So far the thing is working for me. I haven’t done a whole lot but what I have done I agree I like this cheap thing. ( I still have the cap so look out, I know where Iowa is!)
Well Missy the dog as just looked at me from the hall as if to say, “Daddy, I’m not waiting anymore. It’s nitey nite time.” and trotted off to the bedroom. So…. Prayers for those in need and even those who aren’t.

In order to keep my position as Master and Supreme Ruler of the House, I don't argue with my wife.
I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk.
Good late night all. W**k has been pretty busy for me lately, so not a really good chance to come in. Couldn't sleep tonight, which is why I'm in here now. Maybe I'll be able to get some sleep here at 1:15 in the morning for the 6:45 alarm. If not, oh well, I've worked tired before. Had two interviews with Advance Auto Parts for an assistant manager's position. After this last interview, it was just 3 candidates, which I am 1 of, so hopefully tomorrow or the next day I'll know one way or the other if I've got a job that's more permanent. Tomorrow/Today, I've gotta take the day off from my job w**king at my pastor's farm to go and replace the starter and solenoid on the church van, it crapped out Wednesday night and I couldn't get to it this afternoon due to parts needing to be ordered and it was raining. Got 7 weeks left before our newest addition to the family arrives. That's pretty much it in my life at the moment.
I do have a question for youse guys. I know that different companies make the same color of paint, but under a different name, so anyone have any idea what the "proper/other" name(s) are for the blue and yellow/gold used on CSX's YN3 paint scheme? I know I could order the paint online and it would be what I need, but I figured if I could figure out what the name is, then I could just get the paint from Hobby Lobby, or something like that.
Well, now that I've said all of that, I think I'm going to head to bed. Goodnight all, prayers and well wishes to everyone.
nik .nI have the locomotive as well, but the older version. It is out of Bachmann's Overland set. Does yours have a pancake as well?
Good morning. It's 72 and mostly cloudy. The high will be around 80 and there's a chance of rain.Had the luck of the Irish yesterday. I stopped at a yard sale that was being held at the home of one of our fire fighters. I really didn't expect to find anything of interest but for some reason I looked anyway. I was very surprised to find a Bachmann Niagara 4-8-4 still in the box and looking brand new. I have been wanting to get one of these but the price was always a major stumbling block. Well, as they say, good things comes to he who waits. They only wanted $5 for it. I handed over a portrait of Honest Abe and beat feet out of there lest they change their mind. Talk about getting a steal! I might as well have had a bandits mask on! By afternoon I had most of the paint stripped. There were patches that required additional 'persuasion' in the form of a Dremel cloth polishing wheel. This has left some dusty looking debris on the model which I'll remove when I have time to do so. This morning I have to go see the foot doc for a follow-up visit so he can study the outcome of his efforts to give me some comfort from the rigors of diabetes. I have to admit that getting around is a bit easier now as I don't have that big lump on the bottom of my foot anymore and that big unsightly lump on the side of the foot is gone too. I'm fairly sure he'll have to redo a couple of the stitches though. Even though I'm staying off my feet as much as possible I still have to get around inside my home for a number of things. I don't have a maid or butler to get me my meals and so forth so I have to do that for myself and the tight interior of a 1950 era trailer is not conducive to the use of crutches or a cane.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 9/11/2009Heat Index: 77°FHumidity: 98%Dew Point: 71°FSo Far TodayHigh: 73°FLow: 72°FRain: 0.00"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 5mph ESEToday High: 82 An 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. I have a bit of work this afternoon at the office then I'll be getting stuff ready for another one of those protophoto trips we take-----I'm going to go in a west direction this time---we'll see where we'll end up---
Chloe, I'll have a big stack o' pancakes with maple syrup and a coffee please---I'll be at the RC watching the plpace wake up----
Mornin' all!
Man, did I sleep poorly last night! Went to bed at midnight, and woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm gonna hit the hay early tonight I'll bet!
Well, my son decided yesterday that basketball was just too much for him this year. His body hurts for days after a practice, and he won't back off and save his strength. He wants so bad to keep up with the other boys, but yesterday was white flag day. His muscular dystrophy and scoliosis finally caught up with him. We were about to call the coach and let him know of the decision when we got an Email. It said that there was going to be a slight restructuring of the organization, and they were looking for a "manager" for each of the teams. They wanted someone to help keep stats, help with making sure the balls were regulation, things like that. They asked if the new managers could be team members. My son was all about that! He gets to shoot hoops with his buddies but doesn't have to run suicides and stuff. Also, he has a big part to play in every game. The only down side is theres no more court time during games. So, I took him to practice and he's now the new team manager. When I was talking with the coach later he said he'd noticed my boy struggling to keep up and God had just laid it on his heart to create this position and he was kind of thinking of my son when he was fleshing it all out. As usual, God's timing is right on the money!
So, whats up with you all today?
Gooooood morning. Another night at work. One more night to go!!
Well I could only watch one quarter of the Steelers game, and I had to go to bed. Just real sleepy, but I did hear about (going to bed early during a Steelers game) at work. I guess being sleepy isn't a excuse to miss a Steelers game .
Todd......I just need to do some touch ups on the backdrop. My backdrop around the whole layout is different (tree wise). Kinda makes it look like the train is going in different areas.
Jim......Art class? The teacher barley passed me. I don't think he liked my work. I show people some of my work, and they like it. Well he didn't.
PC......That's bad about your son not getting to play basketball, but its good he can be the manager. Its also good he gets to play with his friends.
I guess I will get to bed, and pop back in later.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Good morning. Coffee and more pancakes please. Man those things are good, thin and kinda rubbery but not too much so. Oh and some bacon too please, Thanks.
Well that makes three of us that didn’t sleep well. Hit sack right after I posted and fell immediately asleep. Then I awoke several times in the night and when I woke again at 5:30 my head was pounding and my neck was screaming. Hot shower was a-calling. Feel muuuuch better now, just a bit tired. Oh well another shot of French Roast and I’ll be fine.
PC- That was very thoughtful of Ben’s coach. And a bit touching if I may say. It brought a smile to my face to hear of that in the competitive, and often times cut throat world of school sports. Our preacher has a saying that we respond to when things like that happen, (or any good thing actually) God is good (we then respond)all the time. (He speaks)And all the time (we respond) God is good.
Robby- I thought about painting my backdrop. Fortunately for me I gave a bit of a try to draw something on a piece of paper because I haven’t tried to draw in years. Did I mention I have my eye on a couple of SceniKings and the Busch scene like Jeff’s? Quite possibly the art teacher was looking at your art from an artistic view. Most times I think the great art looks like something a dog did with it’s tail.
Where’s Lee? I wonder if he noticed the Rangers squeaked by the Indians. 10 to ZIP, ZIPPO! Maybe he’s still recovering.
I wish someone across the pond would give somebody here a nod as to how Ulrich is doing so we can know he’s doing OK.
Have a Great Day!!!!
Robby P. Well I could only watch one quarter of the Steelers game, and I had to go to bed. Just real sleepy, but I did hear about (going to bed early during a Steelers game) at work. I guess being sleepy isn't a excuse to miss a Steelers game .
And the STEELERS for the win! Although it was a squeaker----13-10
Mornin' everyone!
Flo did I hear we have a special on pancakes this morning? OK give me a short stack and leave the NYS Maple Syrup right here on the counter for me. Thanks! Oh cup of my usual in a R&GV Museum mug. I'll be right here at the Rivet Counter.
Jeffrey that was a great acquisition for the line. It will look real good pulling an excursion train.... Take care of that foot now!
Man Robby you must have been tired to fall asleep during a Steelers game....... My Father always had the Cleveland Browns on the idiot box. It used to be easy to fall asleep during games, and that was back when Jim Brown was the spark plug..... Actually my Dad would turn on the TV after supper and promptly fall asleep. My sisters and I didn't like what he was watching and would try to check out the other 2 channels we could get..... So I would be "elected" to sneak up to the box and turn the channel. Dad would wake up and yell at me! By 9PM he was always Of course that's late when you get up at 4:30AM.
BTW Barry, loved the photos you put up of the homes and industries.
Philip, that is great that your son will still be able to hang with the team, do something very important for them, and have some fun shoot hoops as well. The spirit does move among us!
I have to get all fancied up today to go and have my mug shot taken for the new church directory. We do this about every 5 years and this time it is part of the "Capital Campaign". But, hey I get a "FREE" picture out of it. I don't mind the photoshoot, but I hate the sitting down and viewing all the shots that they have and telling them over and over that I don't intend to buy anything and that I don't really care which one they put in the Church Directory.
So I best get moving and see if I can accomplish anything today....
Good Morning..Its sunny and 72 here...I'll have coffee and a sweet roll please..Thank you..I got 4 of the wall cut out for the model of the house I grew up in..Gonna work on it more today..My van is in the shop getting a check up before winter..Service guy came yesterday to work on my lift chair..It had a bolt sheared off..he replaced all the bolts in it...
Jeff..Wow !! what a deal on steamer..
PC..Your son's coach is great...He must be a fine feller...
You all have a good day...Jerry
Coffee in a large SANTA FE mug, please & thanks.
***PC, very glad for your son's new role in the team and what a great coach he has there.
***Bama, hope you get the job.
Uh Oh, think I waited too long to order the few Walthers "sale items" my wife requested. What exactly does it mean when it states "In Transit" and can they hold an entire order before shipping? I sure don't want to pay extra for shipping 1 or 2 tiny items later on. Shot them an e-mail, but am still waiting to hear back. oops!
I finally picked up the remaining loco I wanted for my minimal diesel roster on the bay. Have been trying for a long time. She will keep my lonely SD9043MAC company. (how's that for an excuse?):
Wife should be back soon from taking her Dad to another Doc appointment. Have a good day y'all.
Rob ps: don't tell my wife about the above acquisition.
Spent most of the day looking for material to build a brace for the broken mower panel. It's decorative and doesn't serve any purpose but that's just me. Got on the website and found out it's only 15 bucks (I didn't think John Deere made anything for only 15 bucks) but I think I can find the right size metal for a bracket and make it work. Will keep looking as that also comes out of the "hobby budget"
Robb- What acquisition?
Afternoon all. Just stopping in shortly before I hop in the shower and take care of a few in-house things. Had today off so I've been a little busy. Replaced the starter on our church van this morning ('98 Ford E-350 with over 400,000 miles on it), then went looking for a replacement tire for our riding lawnmower, found one at Lowes, but I can get one for almost half the price online. After that I got some luan and a few odds and ends then headed up to our land and house and put up a little more molding and got ready for spending the day up there tomorrow really working. And finally I've come back home to a currenlty empty house (Amy and Heather will get home at about 5:45-6:00), with the shower calling my name.
Well, I'm going to ask again, just in case last night my late-night rambling didn't make sense. I know that there are companies that make the "exact" colors for different engines/cars/ect, but what I want to know is are there other companies that make the same colors, but just name them different? For instance, I know that Floquil makes the exact colors for the CSX YN3 (or Dark Future) color scheme, but since the only "hobby shop" around here is Hobby Lobby and they don't have any actual Floquil paints, what would be my appropriate route to take on finding the right paint locally instead of ordering it online?
Jeff, where's the mask from when I had gotten those 6 P2K engines for $75??? Your turn to wear it, lol.
Bama, get something that has the colors and get whatever looks like a match.
Robby, don't feel to bad about missing your teams game. I don't know when the Packer's next game is (Sawyer, Where are ya?!?!?!); and since I'm 1200 miles away, no luck of it being on the tube. New Orleans, Tampa, Miami, and Atlanta games are pretty much it. BTW, you're backdrop is pretty nice.
I recently got another roster aquisition:I'ts from an older run that weren't DCC ready. I have it wired with a 9-pin plug at the moment, just need to get a decoder to put in it. I got this one as a reward for pressure washing the parent's house.
I also snagged a P2K GP38-2 and a Bicentennial U30C with DCC already installed, for less than $90 for the both of them. (good luck finding that U30C for less than that, without DCC). When the U30C arrives, I'm taking the DH123 out of it and putting it in that GP9 from above. Then the U30C is getting a soundtraxx sound decoder installed (then MU-ed to my Bicenntenial SD40-2)
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Hey all been a while but i'm still lerking around. Nice looking loco Jeffery. hey flip theres still a few of us oldtimers around here, lets see Inch still show up here and there jerry cox, Jeffery, does fergy still show up? Not much happening here but thought I would check in and say hi
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne
http://rtssite.shutterfly.com/
PackerJeff, where's the mask from when I had gotten those 6 P2K engines for $75??? Your turn to wear it, lol.
You mean this one?
Hey guys, had no time on the comp yesterday (for good reasons), and jsut now got on today.
Reasons I wasn't on yesterday:
got my code 55 track in and spent my whole time after school working on that until it was time for my soccer scrimmage. Which my team won 3-0. I was a beast, and what's scary is I know I can paly at a much higher level than I did.
Picked up some flux and solder from radioshack today, will probably get working on soldering rail joints and laying more track tonight.
