Evenin' folks!

First Board of Deacons tonight for the year.....  Had a good meeting.  When I got home I finished up the 3rd. Skirting panel I made today and got it on the layout.  A before from "early this morning" (that means about 1PM.....):

And a couple showing the progress made this afternoon and evening.

Uh...........  Thought I heard a Berkshire.....  Oh, Hi Duke!

Sawyer,  women are like that.  They never seem to make up their minds...... My late wife used to have a plaque that said, "It's too late to agree with me, I changed my mind!"  When the "right" one comes along, you'll know.  Best to just chill and play the field for a while.

"I'll toss in my all-time favorite: the Farmall M."   Chris that is a workhorse for sure!  Still a lot of them out their earning their keep.

blownout cylinder
Chloe, I'll have a RBF and a SRP please---I'll be at the RC for a bit

I'll have what Barry is having and join him at the Rivet Counter.  You have an Ad Hoc section giving you trouble?  Only time I ever have trouble with them is in committees........  Now Ad Lib I'm good at especially singing scat! Wink

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Good Evening, Chloe - nope, just was too busy the last couple of evenings to stop by. Now I'm past the busy part of the weekday evenings... Oh, yeah - I'll have an oatmeal raisin cookie and some coffee in a Santa Fe mug, please 'n' thankyouma'am. Smile

Anybody heard from Ulrich lately - email or otherwise? Just wondering how he's doing.

jeffrey-wimberly
and I'm feeling really good right now due to the fact the anesthetic hasn't completely worn off yet.

Hope you're still not feeling much pain, Jeff. Thumbs Up Keeping off that foot, anyway? Get rid of that sinus infection ASAP, too.

Robby - I wouldn't mind finding a dentist like yours, who's been around a while but doesn't always have to use the newest gizmos (and make the patients pay for it all). I have two back wisdom teeth that need pulling (they have been pushing on the others and have the front ones a bit offset, but otherwise not hurting). I was blessed with hard enamel since I was young, and have avoided a lot of dental problems.

Ray, I'd be... uh, Shock surprised.. if I went to buy some cloth and it rang up that kind of total! Back around the start of this summer, I went by a fabric store to get some 'fake fur' (for making field grass later). Didn't even hardly need more than about a foot, since the material was fairly wide. Yeah!! The skirt on the layout looks good (and doesn't attract attention to itself, which is good).

Sawyer - yeah, chilling out sounds good (and what Robby suggested). Should help your w**k on your layout, as well.

Barry - twenty hoppers for $20?? Did you wear a mask when you bought them? Smile,Wink, & Grin That's outstanding on the price; two-bay or three- bay? Heck, even if they were only ore cars, that'd be one great price. BowYeah!!

NS Joe, best wishes on a great year, since your schedule looks pretty busy there. Thumbs Up

Flip, I was wondering (along with the rest of us Diners) about your phone call. Sorry to hear about your cousin's passing. As you said, best to stay in touch and enjoy loved ones while they/we're here. Keeping you and Deb and the rest of the family in AngelAngel

Lee - thanks for the heads-up on the time left to get my Christmas list ready (and to hunt down those cards, right Todd?). Smile,Wink, & Grin I guess our stores must be running slow here - they just have the Halloween stuff up yet. Probably will get the 'Holiday' items out by the weekend, I'd guess...

Hey guys, I heard Chloe muttering something to Vinnie as I came in about "...bunch of over-grown junior high boys..." (or something close to that, didn't catch all of it, as she was muttering kind of low about getting the cast iron skillet or some such...Oops

Paul - free is pretty much always good, IMHO... Thumbs UpBig Smile

Jerry, getting that new chair for you sure seems to be dragging out a bit. Hope they get 'around tuit' a lot quicker than so far.

Hey, Chris, I could look around my place and see if I have that 'breakup' T-shirt. Shouldn't take too much to slip it into a box and get it on the way to you...Whistling And I thought that 'Devious and simple' applied a lot of the time to women... (OUCH! Now, Chloe, why did you go and do that? I wasn't talking about any of the ladies in the Diner here, you know I wasn't, really!)Blindfold

Sign - Welcome to the Diner, Philly Bill. Thumbs Up I was out the past day or two, so almost missed you. Have a cup on me, please. Chloe, fill the man's mug on me, thanks.

I got a tack hammer last night at Sears for nailing down track - the head's a good size to fit between the rails without hitting the rails when I'm trying to get the spikes. Now I just need to find the track snippers...

Almost time for me to head for home, after all this talking I've been doing. I figure I'll probably also get the TOP honors and get to cover the midnight snack and morning tab, but what the heck - it's just after payday, right? Well, I lucked out, and Ray beat me to the TOP - thanks! Hey Ray, can you post some details of how you finally fastened the fabric for those skirts to the layout (for those who can stand some help and directions, like myself...)?

Prayers for those healing up, in need of comfort, and those we haven't seen in the Diner for a while, as well.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I'm not feeling any pain in my foot at all. Up to this point I haven't taken any of the hydrocodone tabs. The sinus infection is in big trouble though. I'm taking antibiotics (have been for a while) so I don't think it'll last long.

Good morning.

It's 71 and partly cloudy. The high will be around the mid 80's and there's a chance of rain.

I don't know yet how much rain we got yesterday. It was coming down thick and heavy for over an hour. The bleeding from my foot has stopped finally. Tuesday it was bleeding pretty badly and I had to change the dressing several times. Yesterday it was nowhere near as bad and I had to change the dressing only once. This morning there's no sign of bleeding. The trick now is to make sure I don't rip the stitches out. No layout work to speak of yesterday.

Mornin' All!

So, I was puttin' around last evening and rolled into this little hole in the wall town and saw the coolest bobber in front of this bar.  Check it out!  (I know.....it's not a Kawi, but it's cool anyways, right?)

Now, while that was a cool aside, that wasn't the main reason I found myself in Bargersville, Indiana last night.  Nope, I was there to photograph a train that I'll bet none of you have ever seen, if you even knew it existed.  It's the Walt Disney train!  It's starting to tour the U.S. to promote the new "A Christmas Carol" movie that will be coming out later this year.  You can tour the train and they will even scan your face and turn you into a computer generated movie character!  The paintwork on the train was unbelievable!  It was so intricate and detailed.  I'm afraid my pics don't do it justice.  The sun was setting, so they're a bit dark.  But anyways, without further adue, I give you, "The Disney Train"!

The train will be in Louisville, KY. today.

Good morning. Coffee and a couple glazed donuts please. Thank you. Partly cloudy with a high of 83 F today. Again a 20% chance of rain. Currently it's 64 with 94% humidity

Barry- I got a chuckle from your DLL definition. I had all sorts of combinations flowing through my head. I was not at all thinking in the right direction. Dunce

Jeff- Glad the bleeding stopped. Odd you would get the sinus infection at all. I'd think by taking antibiotics before the operation and after, the little buggers wouldn't have had a chance to start. Unless of course, you have sinuses like mine. Doctors used to say "that should have worked". I learned a lesson the hard way on Vick's Sinex (the old original green cap stuff before they took it off the market) years ago and am still paying for it. Though not quite as bad thank goodness.

Today is Mom day. I must go to the grocery store for her and then she insists on paying me for my trouble by taking me to lunch somewhere. She likes buffets and Denny's so I'm usually full and sleepy by the time I have to work at 5pm. I've got a wee bit of time so I may go downstairs and stare at my empire.

Have a Great Day!!!

PC- I saw that train just the other day!!!! Oddly enough I don't recall the whole thing and I got just a quick gance. I forgot all about it until you said somehing. (I've got recall, I really do. It's just not instant) I don't live near the tracks so when I'm uptown is the only time I see them. Usually I don't look up much for Amtrak whistles. Lately however,I've been noticing far more Amtraks pushing the train than I've noticed before. I think that's why I thought I saw a F40PH pulling because it was night and in front and like I said, I don't always look at the whole Amtrak. A couple of days ago(during the day) I saw the repeat performance and kept looking and yup there was a loco pushing. Anyway, I was leaving the Village hall after a meeting and I was walking parallel to the tracks and the train came from behind and I looked up just to catch a glance and say "what the heck was that?????."  10 minutes later. I forgot.Laugh

Aw shucks Ray, the flash doesn't cause any problems with me. I couldn't however look at the picture too long without wanting to flip all the cool toggle switches the same way. UP or DOWN man, UP or DOWN!! Laugh

We got 1.5 inches of rain yesterday according to the rain gauge. The power out here has gone off 3 times in last 90 minutes. The power company says they're working on something and it shouldn't take much longer. I seem to remember a comment like that just before the New York blackout back in the 60's.

Hello..

I'll have coffee to go.

Briefly, we delayed a trip to Michigan because of the funeral. We leave this morning. It will be a short trip, and I will not have time to visit with Duke or go to the LHS I'm sorry to say...

Funeral had lots of people. About 400 families signed the guest book for visitation Tuesday evening and funeral yesteday was packed. For a lightly populated area, the attendence was impressive. I did speak at Diane's funeral as Wayne requested, and my message essentually was to praise the Lord for sharing Diane with us.

I hope I can catch up with your posts when in MI.....

Good morning.  Its about time for bed.  I had to stay over and do a switching test.  Now I can switch yard trailers.  Not yet, but next week.

I'm in a good mood............The Steelers play tonight!!!!!  They take on the Titans Dead.  My Cubs are out of it and the local boys *cough* Pirates *cough*, have been out of it for the last 17 years.

 Barry.....I really enjoy the shots.

Jim......I think my one tooth knows it will be getting fixed next week.  Since the dentist visit, its been hurting.

I guess I will hit the bed.  I will pop back in later.

Milk, Chloe.

PC: Great shots! My sister was close to winning tickets to ride the thing across the US and back.

My parents purchased a Keurig Coffie pot for my dads birthday a few days ago. This is what it looks like:

You pulll the shiny handle up, put a K-cup in, Which looks looks this:

Pull the handle down, put your cup under the spout, and hit brew. It makes great coffee, tea, and hot coca in under 20 seconds.. I suggest trying one. (I would not buy unless you have found your front lawn was made of silver, or you are willing to part with a $200 locomotive) Here's a link anyway.

See Yall!

My 3 packs of #119 Kadee shelf couplers came in today. Haven't tried them yet but I like the way they look.

I went to town earlier today and stopped at a yard sale along the way just for laughs. It was just what I expected to find. Baby and little kid items, some household appliances, games, movies, the usual sort of yard sale fare. Finding ANYTHING MR related at these sales is very rare. I was glancing around looking at what they had when right in the middle of it all I saw this:

A Bachmann UP 806 4-8-4 Niagara with the 52' tender. It was just like new and still in the box! It's standard DC and looks like it could be tricky to convert to DCC as it has a split frame. I asked the lady at the table how much it was as there was no price on it. I'm not a steam fan (that was in my much younger days) so I'll probably never run it but it's still good eye candy. When she said $5 I almost fell over. I remember how much this type loco cost when it came out new. I snatched it up, gave her a $5 bill and left before she changed her mind. I've already tested it on my layout. It runs silent and smooth with no jerking or hesitation. The tender is the plain version. No pickups on it but there is a pocket inside for a decoder.

WhistlingWow!!

JEFF,    Great "pick",   That is a neat looking loco..  And a FAIR price to boot.   Lol.

I see in the future some tourist runs around your layout with that baby on the point.

Way to go, I am happy for you.

Good Morning to the rest of the DINER CREW as well.  It is still BRUNCH time here.

CHLOE'  How about a DENVER sandwich and a RBF.  Please and Thanks.

My railroading has ceased for awhile as the south side of my house had settled about 1 5/8 inches over the last few years and we had it mud jacked. Something didn't go quite as planned and it has destroyed that side of the basement floor. We are now in the process of getting it jack hammered out and a new floor poured ( soon I hope).  The Railroad room floor has quite a few smaller cracks in it and the tiles are pulling apart  but the contractor will not bite on that area only the spare bedroom floor that was badly cracked and pushed up over 6 1/2 inches..  OH, THE JOYS OF HOME OWNERSHIP.  Right now a condo looks pretty good.

So maybe by winter I'll get that room and storage area back in shape and all the junk I had to store in the train room out of there so I can start to get everything in there on a level again and then continue with the building progressGrumpy

Keep your fingers crossed for me.  I hope it all works out.   Certainly not as bad as "Katrina"  Thank God..

Is this damage due to something the contractor did? If so he is responsible for repairing all damage that occurred. Not just the 'worst part'.That's the contractor doing a partial job and getting away with a profit he doesn't deserve.

I thought I would post some pictures of the backdrop I painted yesterday.  Its not the best but its better than a blue background, I did have.

Coffee in a large UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thanks.

***Jerry, neat idea recreating your childhood home. Can't wait to see what it looks like.

***Nik, looks like a good machine. If I win the Lottery, I'll buy one for the Diner. I use a Senseo for my two coffees a day (Columbian & Verona). These last about a year before they quit working.

***Jeffrey, $5 ? You dog! Wow, wish I ever find a deal like that. Even if you don't run steam, it will make a fine display. Congrats!

***Johnboy, what the heck cause so much damage to your foundation? OUCH!

Right now it's going through the paint shop. No way is the MGRy going to have a UP 2 tone gray loco pulling it's tour train.
