Australian Rules Was Invented in The 1800's To Be played in Our Winter, To keep Cricket players Fit, It is Arguably the Biggest National Football Code In Aus, Behind Rugby League, There Is also Rugby Union, Which is Different again.

Some Guides to understanding the Three Codes,

Aussie Rules, There is 4 Upright Posts at each end like this (i 1 1 i) You Get six Points for a goal, Through the Two middle Posts and A point for a kick that goes through on of the outer posts and a Goal Post. There is also 22 Players on the Field for Each Team, After Each Goal The ball goes to the Centre for Two Ruckmen to Contest a "ball up" (like a throw up in Basketball) You Can Kick Or pass, Passing Is done with a Clenched Fist and hitting the point of the ball. There is 4 Field Umpires (refs) and 2 Goal Umpires, And the game Is typically Played for Four 25 Minute Quarters, (100 minutes).

Rugby League, Is more like Gridiron, except you Can't pass it forward, The Goal posts are of similar design to Gridiron, And the Field Is about the same length, To Score you Can get A Try is four points, which is when you plae the ball on or over the line in the "inzone" You get a Kick at goals after each Try Which if it does go through, You Get two Points, You can Also Kick A Field Goal, Which is a drop kick that must go through the goals, which Gives you one point There is 13 Players on each Team And One Field Ref, And Two touch Judges, Also there is a video Referee available, to assist in close calls. Also There is four Interchange, And Total Interchanges is limited to 12.

and...

Rugby Union, Is similar To League but has different Rules, THe field is the same as a League field... TO score you Must score a try, Which is 5 Points, And you get to kick at goals (same as in league) which Gives you Two points, Also Field Goals Give you one Point, Penalty goals give you Three points... IN union there is 15 players on each team, with Seven Interchanges With Unlimited Interchanges, if the ball goes out from a kick, A Line out Is the Result, where players from each team line up and the ball thrown in and contested.

I hope that doesn't confuse you [:D]

Good Morning All,
Coffee to go please Zoe. Lots to do again today. Museum work yesterday was all on the HO display putting in yard tracks. Just about done with the ladder, we need to lay out the entries to the turntable next.
Jim and James - only watched a couple of rugby (football?) games. Looks like it would have been fun, but I'm not sure of the rules (and what is Austrailian rules football for that matter?) Hope your team wins.
Paul - glad you got off easy with the tire. I hate when that happens especially with new sneakers.
RT - good horrible scope but aren't possum and armadillo oth prone to rolling over and playing dead? And while we're on the subject, what no gator or cottonmouth ?
All for now, CUL [:D] J.R.

Hi Coffee Shop dwellers!

I finally have some pictures to show you! I have nearly finished the wiring of it all but as you will see in the pics the next stage is scenery! It is a 10 x 17 feet layout based heavily on a layout out of a book "101 Track Plans for Model Railroaders".

Enjoy!

Regards,

Nigel.

Hello all,
just stopped in for a quick bite and let you know I am back. Lost everything on my harddrive (about 7 years of family photos, finacial data, documents, etc) as it died last week. [V] I am sure most of you back up your data but if you don't, this is a warning! Please don't make the same mistake I did and think just because you have a newer computer, it won't fail. It can and mine did.

Also got the wife's car fixed and it was the timing belt. That fixed and a new water pump was $800. Better than $1K that I was originally qouted.

When I get time I will read up and see what is new. Otherwise have a great week!

Howdy howdy howdy.

I love roller skating. I just got back about half an hour ago...And I'm so happy. I found out how to spin on one foot while moving forward.[:D] Took me eight years to figure it out, but I have it, and now I can practice.[8D]

Heh heh, I got to drive my friend's 2001 Ford F350 with a V10 Triton and an 8" lift (or something close)...That was soooo fun! I want a truck...[:p]

So...I purchased my first Walther's Cornerstone kit from a train store in Sykesville...An N scale Car Shop. And so, now I need...Plastic sprue nips, and paint that could be used for brick morter. Looks like I might need to run to the hobby shop tomorrow.[:D]

I'll be cruisin' the forums...Holler if you need me.

evening all, just aquick stop on the way by
Stew came out Ok, not one of my best to me. Did get over to the campground for a bit and got a few train pics. Still have to upload them an see if any things wourth keeping or just hit the delete button.

Rt , luved the horiscope. Found out I'm a chitlin, but I'll pass on the okra, never care for it much.
Wander if thats why I'm not married to my first wife, born in Jan.

OK since RT started it, I tjink there might be one or two out there in train land who will like this one. I know it's long, but it's worth it.

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company.

One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddle discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!"

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?

Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew ! says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says: "Where's that *** monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard.

Hi Gang,

Today was a good day for a motorcycle ride. It was a nice long one down the two laners, in the Huron National Forest. Most of the roads have receintly been reblack topped, and have lots of curves. The sky was partly cloudy, with a lot of blue showing through, the air was crisp enough to wear the leathers, and the forest was a glowing brilliant green. It don't get any better than that.

Girls could one of you make a big bowl of watermelon scerbert for me. I think I'll sit back in the corner, prop up my feet, and read a bit. I think a bit of Robert Burns. (The mans poet; He wrote about being a ploughman, a bar fighter, a lover of pretty woman, and good libation. For some reason I can relate to him!?!?!) That should finish off a great day.[;)]

Horoscopes for the Rednecks/Southerns

Some of us Southerners are pretty skeptical of horoscopes and the people
that read them. If we are to ever fully understand all the star signs
and the people they represent, we need symbols that all true Southerners
understand: See the list below...

OKRA (Dec 22 - Jan 20) Are tough on the outside but tender on the
inside. Okras have tremendous influence. An older Okra can look back
over his life and see the seeds of his influence everywhere. You can do
something good each day if you try.

CHITLIN (Jan 21 - Feb 19) Chitlins come from humble backgrounds. A
Chitlin, however, will make something of himself if he is motivated and
has lots of seasoning. In dealing with Chitlins, be careful they may
surprise you. They can erupt like Vesuvius. Chitlins are best with
Catfish and Okra.

BOLL WEEVIL (Feb 20 - March 20) You have an overwhelming curiosity.
You're unsatisfied with the surface of things, and you feel the need to
bore deep into the interior of everything. Needless to say, you are very
intense and driven as if you had some inner hunger. You love to stay
busy and tend to work too much. Nobody in their right mind is going to
marry you, so don't worry about it.

MOON PIE (March 21 - April 20) You're the type that spends a lot of time
on the front porch. A cinch to recognize the physical appearance of Moon
Pies. Big and round are the key words here. You should marry anybody who
you can get remotely interested in the idea. It's not going to be easy.
You always have a big smile and are happy. This might be the year to
think about aerobics. Maybe not.

POSSUM (April 21 - May 21) When confronted with life's difficulties,
possums have a marked tendency to withdraw and develop a
don't-bother-me-about-it attitude. Sometimes you become so withdrawn,
people actually think you're dead. This strategy is probably not
psychologically healthy but seems to work for you. You are a rare breed.
Most folks love to watch you work and play. You are a night person and
mind your own business.

CRAWFISH (May 22 - June 21) Crawfish is a water sign. If you work in an
office, you're hanging around the water cooler. Crawfish prefer the
beach to the mountains, the pool to the golf course, and the bathtub to
the living room. You tend not to be particularly attractive physically,
but you have very, very good heads.

COLLARDS (June 22 - July 23) Collards have a genius for communication.
They love to get in the melting pot of life and share their essence with
the essence of those around them. Collards make good social workers,
psychologists, and baseball managers. As far as your personal life goes,
if you are Collards, stay away from Crawfish. It just won't work. Save
yourself a lot of heartache.

CATFISH (July 24 - Aug 23) Catfish are traditionalists in matters of the
heart, although one's whiskers may cause problems for loved ones. You
Catfish are never easy people to understand. You run fast. You work and
play hard. Even though you prefer the muddy bottoms to the clear surface
of life, you are liked by most. Above all else, Catfish should stay away
from Moon Pies.

GRITS (Aug 24 - Sept 23) Your highest aim is to be with others like
yourself. You like to huddle together with a big crowd of other Grits.
You love to travel though, so maybe you should think about joining a
club. Where do you like to go? Anywhere they have cheese, gravy, bacon,
butter, or eggs and a good time. If you can go somewhere where they have
all these things, that serves you well. You are pure in heart.

BOILED PEANUTS (Sept 24 - Oct 23) You have a passionate desire to help
your fellow man. Unfortunately, those who know you best, your friends
and loved ones, may find that your personality is much too salty, and
their criticism will affect you deeply because you are really much
softer than you appear. You should go right ahead and marry anybody you
want to because in a certain way, yours is a charmed life. On the road
of life, you can be sure that people will always pull over and stop for
you.

BUTTER BEAN (Oct 24 - Nov 22) Always invite a Butter Bean to a party
because Butter Beans get along well with everybody. You, as a Butter
Bean, should be proud. You've grown on the vine of life, and you feel at
home no matter what the setting. You can sit next to anybody. However,
you, too, shouldn't have anything to do with Moon Pies.

ARMADILLO (Nov 23 - Dec 21) You have a tendency to develop a tough
exterior, but you are actually quite gentle and kind inside. A good
evening for you? Old friends, a fire, some roots, fruit, worms, and
insects. You are a throwback. You're not concerned with today's fashions
and trends. You're not concerned with anything about today. You're
almost prehistoric in your interests and behavior patterns. You probably
want to marry another Armadillo, but a Possum is another somewhat kinky
mating possibility.

Life's hard, even harder if your stupid  John Wayne

Hi Gang: Not much to report. I got the tire fixed. Cost $12.50. I hope that it lasts for some time. The puncture was toward the side wall which makes it hard to patch and hold. Mary Ann's tractor does not have both rear tires leaking. The one she had fixed just had a wire stuck in the rubber, it did not go through. The other side is holding air ok.

Any way all is well for the time being.

Good evening to all, a beautiful day here today with temps in the upper 70's partly cloudy skies, no winds today. The "Great Wall Of Leicester" is proceeding faster now that the ground is drying out nicely with nearly 16 hours of strong mid June sun.

I just received word from Microsoft that I have been selected to receive Beta 2 version of VISTA, the new OS to replace Xp. I have been a Windows Feedback Panelist with installed software for MS on my system for several months, and now I have a DVD on the way with VISTA to be installed on my PC for eval. I will give you guys my impressions of VISTA as I gain knowledge myself.

No MRR stuff to report sadly, but then again, many of you know how that works in the Summertime.........as the song goes.....Summertime....and the livin is easy, fish are jumpin, and the cotton is high, your daddy's rich....and your mamas good lookin, so hush little baby....don't you cry !!

FLIP Any sign of Duke and Faye yet? I am concerned as he is driving into the TS on his way to Florida. I hope they have stopped somewhere to the NW until the storm blows out of Florida.

DER JOHN, LUC, FERGIE The DSC channel had a program on last night all about the big UFO sighting in Nova Scotia back in 1967. The UFO crashed into the bay near Dartmouth and there was a lot of government hush-up thereafter. Very interesting.

Ok, time to go watch " Made in America" on the TRAVEL channel at 9pm.
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! For those wondering what nesu means PC it means Neal "NE and Sue "SU. If you are looking for me I will answer to that name on E-Bay, and Trainboard.

FLIP Glad to hear you and Deb prevailed over the Fed. Gvt. The quote "Lay Makers"unquote just about have it to where you don't get much anymore. If you have a lot of money you can get most anything from them but if you don't ou have to fight them tooth and nail.

INCH great pictures again as always.
Well going to cakk it a day. Will be back at the apartments tomorrow to try to finish up on something.

Morning all, Coffe n the lumber jack special Zoe. Had labs this morning and I’m hungry, couldn’t eat anything after 8 last night.
Had to have my MIL take me over today, cause DIL blowed up the trany in hers. I should have taken my camera, they’re replacing ties between Jewet and Effingham, missed some good MOW pictures along there. The tracks out back been quiet today because of it, so I may have to walk back to the campground this evening.

Turkey came out great, along with the baked sweet tater with butter n cinnamon, and fresh green beans, butter, onion, and bacon.
Fixing a big pot of Beef stew today in the big slow cooker. I’ll flour n brown the round steak, then put it in the cooker with taters, wild onion, celery, carrots, pinch of sage, garlic, basil, sea salt n pepper. When the taters start to get tender I’ll add some sweet corn n green beans from the freezer.

Flip , good to hear Deb’s getting her SSD, know that that’ll help with the mental side off things. Keep forgetten to ask if that storm was headed your way; hope you don’t get too much.

JR , looking forward to some pics of all that equipment you’ve been talking bout

Jerry , the fairs going purrty good with the good weather. Rain forecast for tomorrow though, then hot the rest of the week, bout normal. Mother’s bout wore down already, she had 17 hours there yesterday and most likely she’ll have close to that today.

Morning All:

Jerry: It could have been worse. It could have been one of the rear tires. They are about $250 ea. and I have to have someone come out to change it. That costs $75 for the service call. As it is if it can be repaired it will cost $7. If it can't it's about $85. I hope that the selling price for beef is up.

I picked up some pipe from the well sight yesterday before I found the nail. The scrap value is a couple hundred but We'll use it for fence posts. 10 inch pipe makes fantastic corner posts.

I spent the morning trying to fix the alligator that lunges at the people. I couldn't find the root problem so had to take him out. He hasen't been overhauled in 2 seasons so I guess it is about time. I used to overhaul everything every winter but now that I'm down to just myself I have to take what is really needing and hope the rest keeps working.

Flip: I'm happy for Deb. I'm sure that the two of you can enjoy life more now.

Well my late break is over so I'll see you all later.

A tall cup of that strong coffee brew for me today! As I stayed up late last night watching the Stanley Cup Finals. Carolina Hurricanes beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in game four of the series, and now leads 3 games to 1. They play again here in Raleigh on Wednesday night for game five, if the Canes win they get the Stanley Cup.

RYAN I am glad to see that vendors/mfgrs are installing 1gb of RAM. And I agree with your comment that in a couple of years I GB will be the base amount and 2 GB will be the norm. Programs get more sophisticated every 18 months on average.

***, Yep, about every 18 to 24 months CPU speed seems to double and software minimum requirements keep going up too! I have to say though, my 6 year old laptop with Windows 2000 keeps plugging along with 512 MB RAM and a 20 GB hard drive. I just have to defrag the thing once a week to keep ir from slowing down too much. While its days are getting numbered for my general home PC use, it will most likely retire to the train room for a DCC interface connection.

Hey PC, I see you’re in here this morning, pull up a chair and sit a spell! I hear the turkey special is good today!

Cheers,

Ryan

Morning everyone!

Just a cup of joe, Flo. (WOW, I'm turning into Dr. Suess!) Thanks Flo.

Flip,
Good news! Always good to hear when someone who NEEDS govt. assistance gets it. Thats what it's there for. Kind of bugs me when I see people who don't really need it getting it and taking away from those who do need it. I'm glad that you and Deb can now get on with things and not worry so much about that part of it. It's got to be a big load off of your mind.

OzJim,
I thought it was rather clever! I'm not so sure that inch would agree though!

Good Morning All,
Cloudy and cool this morning but dry - a welcome change. I see Bill T our man of steady habits and little speech has been in already. After work today 'll go over to the museum and see what mischief I can get into. Got the digital back so I'll try to get some pics to share. All for now, CUL, [:D] J.R.

That's OK, some of us around here probably wouldn't have liked my cooking anyways. After all, it didn't have any TIRE TRACKS on it! [:D]

I'm still rolling on the floor laughing [:D] Never mind, Tyre tracks have never hurt anyone before [;)] [:D]

Hi Gang: I see Fergie is in. So have a drink on me, Fergie.

Not much to tell about today. I picked up a nail in the side wall of one of the new tires that we just put on the tractor. I don't think that I have an hour of work on it. Oh well we just have spent the money on something silly like food.

I think that I'll head for bed. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Good Night All
