GOOD MORNING ALL,
Another excellent night on my fairwell tour with old friends. Hard to say good bye to some and realize that you may never see them again due to the distance we are moving from Long Island. Thank goodness for e-mail, so at least we can all keep each other posted. Not one of the old crew is a model railroader, or even has a passing fancy in trains so I couldn't turn them on to you guys & gals in the "Coffee Shop". They wouldn't get it. That said, hope everyone is well this morning and all of your model railroad projects come out much better than expected. The big model railroad project here is boxing up the locomotives that have been on display in our wall unit since I took down the layout about six weeks ago. Having the locos on display behind glass and the comraderie of the coffee shop has kept the model railroader fire burning. But the good news is that in about three weeks the locos and all the other train equipment will be in their new basement with the house over it for shelter. That's all for now, Please enjoy another round on me. John

Mike- Sure do love seeing your photos. I'll give the "whiteout" a try. I was thinking about screwing the truck down , similar to an Athern model.

Greetings all, coffee is on me today.
INCH As usual the photos are great. I work on the maintance crew between Texarcana and Hooks Texas in 61 and 62 and we didn't have any equiptment that looked like. Back then most all was don by hand. We hand spiked, hand tamped, leveled the rail, pulled the rail, replaced rail, replaced ties all by hand.
You can't get good pictures here in Lafayette. They only have a double mainline that goes through. There is a small staging yard on the Northwest end of town, but there is only about three miles of track there. You would have to camp out frof daybreak to nightfalkl to see a half dozen trains come through. An Amtrac and the rest freight.
Did get some photos of the Lasta's SP Macaido that came through last year. But this is not an excersion train but a history of La. train. Not much fun.
Well got to run. Still have work to do at the apartments. Have to get them ready to rent so I can buy another something for the layout.

Morning all, Biscuits n gravy, OJ, an coffee for me today please Janie
Hope every ones having a good day, been raining here all night and powers been flashing on n off, had some thunderstorms go through.
Mother drug me over to the fair grounds yesterday for 5 hours, I wasn’t thrilled. I didn’t feel like doing much of anything by the time we got home. Did see 2 friends I hadn’t seen in many years. Sheep barn was bout half full; you could sure tell it’s the first show of the summer. None of them was to thrilled bout the shearing n trimming going on. Cattle barns only had 2 herds so far, most those will be in today. Horse races had all but one race filled. Karen said if the entries keep coming in, they may need to slip n another race or two. Queen contest and antique tractor pull is all for today I think. So that’s today’s fair update. Me, I’m staying home and spending some time in the train room, since Mother’s fairing all day.

Paul , the guys that were working on it called it a tamper, said tamped down the ballast between the ties. Guess they didn’t tell me all of it

Good evening gents, I had to get away from the Red Sox game, nice close game then the put in Keith Foulk and he promptly walks the 1st batter in the 9th and then gives up a home run ball. 87MPH fast balls are something that even me at 67 can hit out....grrr

FERGIE Yes, as if we don't have enough rain, now this TS will get caught up in the northern jet stream after it crosses over Florida into the Atlantic and come right up over Cape Cod with copious amounts of rain. When we walk inthe yard now, it feels like we are walking on a well soaked sponge.
Is the audit all done? I remember those bean counter audits at several companies that I worked at....a real PITA!!! Good luck with the decoder installs. BTW, where did you buy them? Tony's? I just bought 5 from him last week. If this rain keeps up, I'll have plenty of time to install them.

PAUL B I know you are asleep by now, as well you should be, so here's hoping that you have a day of some rest on Sunday.

I feel for ya. This week has been absolute grief. I don't think I've put out this many "fires" in a long time. The Audit was sheer H-E-double hockey sticks. got nailed on several things but in retropect I wasn't able to give the answers they were looking for as I had more pressing issues on my mind. Unfortunately it's a Bean Counting Excercise!

I'm starting to put the Tsunami in the 2-10-2 and should have it wired by Tuesday.

I would say I'm practiced out but that's only the excuse so I get get other stuff done. It been a while since I've been able to play the bass, didn't realize how much I needed the release.

My son got a baseball game in today. Sadly they lost but most important they had fun. The weather really made this season bad. Hopefully next year it will be better.

Another cloudy day here with off and on showers, only .27" of rain since midnight, but many of the streams and rivers east of us are all at flood stage or higher. The Red Sox had a double header scheduled for today, one of which was a rain makeup game from the last time the Texans were in town, that game was cancelled tonight, and the afternoon part of the doubleheader just started now.
And now we hear that the first tropical depression of the season has formed in the GOM, and it is predicted to hit the NE coast by next Wednesday with all it's rains.....OHHH JOY, just what we needed. get ready DER JOHN, LUC, FERGIE , more is headed your way after we get clobbered first.

FLIP I sure hope DUKE gets to Florida before the storm hits the west coast near Clearwater, no fun on a bike with a storm that size.

I guess the weather must be pretty good. I haven't seen anyone in the coffee shop this morning. I noticed that a couple have snuck in and ran out real quick, but no one is hanging around.

Inch: That is a track geometry car. It levels the track, takes out dips and aligns for straightness, or curveness. You got some good pictures of it as usual.

I noticed that this is awfull close to the bottom of the page. I hope that I don't start a new one. I'd hate to incure the rath of PC.

It's almost time to hit the road for home again. I've still got to finish up that wiring job in the barn. Of course it's about 99F in the shade here. I've got to look around the place and see if I've got some 12-3 romex stashed some where.

I just had a thought. Since Bergie shouffeled things around is he going to buy?

Cool outside this morning, I’ve got 56, there’s a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and the next 3 days. The fair queen contest is tomorrow afternoon, so it’ll rain in Marshall for sure.
Mothers long days at the fair starts today, we were over there last evening and found out she’s already behind on entries. Won’t see much of her till next Sunday.

Jessie , I think you been round before, but we don’t know much bout ya, such layout, scale n such. If’en ya would give us some clues bout your self. You always be welcome here.

Silver Streak , I think there’s several X- boy scouts round here. I liked Philmont both times. The last time, I had my first up close encounter with a bear, another story there. All I’ll say is this one had bad breath.

Bill N , I can cook some rabbit, I still have 3 in the freezer, along with squirrel, venison, and a young coon for BBQ. Think there’s a couple beef tongue and heart too.

Great night. [tup] Before our practice tonight, I ran into member of a local band who I haven't seen in about a year. Discovered they were going to be playing for the Christian Surfer Foundation Outreach Night at the church.

Our practice timing was perfect, we finished and pack the gear in time for the start of their concert.[8D]

Not surprisingly, the boys rocked the house.[{(-_-)}] Had a blast watching the surfer kids get into the music. Had even more fun just hanging with my band.

Well I best be getting to bed. I ain't as young and stupid as I use to be.[:-^][swg]
