Are you sure that's such a good idea? I mean, all of our wives talking about us and comparing notes. That sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me! [:0] This may not be the best idea you've ever had!

Morning all,

Hi Chloe! Hey, how about lettin' me have that banana over there? I'll wash it down with a Moxie too please! Thanks!

All,
I'd like to thank you all for your prayers and support during this tough time. It's meant a lot and it has made a difference, believe me. As much of a shock as this was, there's a peace about it in a way. Maybe that's the peace that God was talking about in Philippians 4:7. As an update, the showing and funeral were put off by a day so that the showing wouldn't be on Fathers Day. The showing is tomorrow and the funeral is Tuesday.

Again, thank you all for all the prayers and support.

Mornin all, just some coffee please Janie,
HAPPY DADDY DAY to all the daddies out round here. Hope ya’ll have a good one, Mine [if nothing happens] will be round the 4’th. #1 daughters [Roni] coming home with all hers and we’ll have five if the 6 kids home. The best part is #2 son [Kris] is putting on a feed at his house,, so Mother n me don’t have the mess. Saying lots of prayers here that all the kids make, but it seems something always happens
Got over to the Demo Derby last evening, it was one of the better ones for awhile. Had 58 cars runnin, 20 compacts and 38 full size, paid a purse of $4000. 4-women running, one got hurt, nothing serous, thankfully, 3 small fires and a lot of beaten and banging. Most the cars will have to be replaced before Martinsville in 2 weeks.
Our 2 boys [Pat n Clyde] ran it this year, they’re first time, kept every thing pretty clean and fair, which has been missing for a long time there.

Paul , sorry to hear of the fuel switch, I do like the smell of coal. What size propane tank are you using on the locomotive and how long does it last.
Hope ya’ll get some rain soon, I know you folks really need it.

Grayfox , I’ll second treasuring the moments with the kids. Time seems too quickly any more. Didn’t get to spend a lot of time with the kids growing up with keep them in feed and shelter, but now we have grand kids and more time to enjoy them.
Hope your cook out goes well.

I’ll post some Sunday pics later, but have some things that need doing.
Thoughts n prayers for all in need, with an extra one for the fathers serving in harms way and those fathers waiting for their sons and daughters safe return.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

The ladies in the Coffee Shop asked me to hang this banner up a few minutes ago, to help celebrate Father's Day . For some of us, we are not only fathers but Grandfathers too. And, for some of us our fathers have passed away, only to leave us with great memories of days long ago, like the Christmas we received our first train set, sitting on the floor helping us set it up and running it. For you young fathers out there, TREASURE these moments, our sons ( and daughters) grow up all too fast. Some move on to other parts of the country where we cannot enjoy their company every day.

I am happy to report that the install of the Beta 2 version of Microsoft's new Operating System went well, and I am now experimenting with all it;s new features. Wait until you see Internet Explorer 7.0 which comes as part of the upgrade. Really nice with features long overdue, like multiple web pages open as tabs so that you can switch back and forth by meerly clicking on the tab.

Tomorrow we have a combination Father's Day cookout here at the house, and, a birthday for one of the Grandsons who will be 12. The count looks like about 28 adults and 17 kids, so the grille will be working non stop, and with 95F temps forecasted, as well as high humidity, and the pool will get it's first big workout of the summer season.

Well, time to turn in, big day tomorrow, and here's wishing every one of you dad's and grand dads out there in MRR land, a very Happy and Safe Father's Day !!![tup][tup][:D][8D]

Good evening all!

Coffee and a piece of banana creme pie, Please.

We had a last minute gig this afternoon. It went well but it was crazy. The last minute thing always leads to chaos. It was an outdoor gig which for me is the hardest venue to play. No stage cover, windy and hot. Forgot sun block and wind weights. So while gear and stuff got blown around by the wind, I got a nice little sunburn. Yet, we still had fun.

Also, saw United 93 today. Made me mad on 9/11 and the feeling hasn't changed in five years.

Well time for bed. Later.

Paul- Brings back a memory. My Gramma only had to smell the smoke from burning the ivy and she would break out . Had to go to hospital one time. Me-Heck, I could walk through it and rub it on my skin and nothing would happen.

BigBlueConrail- Yeah- Bill Lucas is the owner. Good man. Used to make Quality furniture until a guy came in and showed Bill a plan for an N scale layout complete with a lake. Bill built it and the rest is history. Man, thats been years.

Afternoon All: Not a whole lot happening here. I'm at work about 40 minutes from go home time. Mary Ann and I have to go over to my friends RR track and clean out a couple of refregirators for the party next Saturday. There is still food in them from the meet last month. The steam locomotive is finished and steams very well. John had it fired up in the shop a couple of days ago to make sure everything was OK before moving it out to the track. It's on propane now which I'm not too happy with but he wanted to burn something that was clean. Also we're under a burn ban again and the fire marshall said propane would be OK.

I got into some poison ivy a couple of days ago so since I'm starting to itch a bit I am going to go and take a benedril and maybe go down to first aid for some of there remedy. Yea, I ought to know better.

Yes Amongst Most supporters, Each loves a code and hates the other two, EG: AFL(Aussie rules) supporters Hate Rugby League and Rugby Union, They just generalise the two as Rugby. and Vice versa. Myself I prefer Union and AFL over League but they are all good. But my favourite sport to play is Cricket!

Good Evening, Chloe - I’ll have a cup of coffee and a hot fudge sundae, on Flip’s tab, please. Thanks, Flip! [:)]

Hey, Neal come join me at the table for a cup!

I did a little doodlin’ of possible ideas for a track plan today while I was doing the laundry (that’s warsh, in hilljack). I figured I’d plan how to use about 2’ wide sections and assume that I could eventually manage about a spare bedroom size layout (about like that one Tony Koester has the MR staff coming up with layout plans for every so often in the mags.)

Jim, Great to see in the shop again! I just bought that Diner kit, thanks for the heads up on the wall assembly. I guess some sanding would be in order then huh!

Yep, Ryan, and some good clamps would be in order when assembling the walls and windows. Don’t be like me - I tried to just use my finger clamps to keep them in place. [:O][;)]

Jerry - post some pics once you get a chance - I have one of the Merchants’ Row kits (have to get home and check the box as for which one), and might want to get some ideas from yours. [:)] Oh, if you can’t find your directions, I could scan those from mine in and e them to you. Let me know (email through the forum works) if you don’t find them. Any word from the docs yet on Sally?

Bill T., did you run out of those donuts, or are you taking a different route to the Shop in the mornings now? [swg] But with or without those donuts, you still get in much more regularly than I do.

Flip - batten down the hatches and stay out of the winds. Good to hear that they approved Deb! [yeah]

RT, loved the horoscopes! (according to that, I’m an armadillo) [:)] I even passed that along to some of my friends. Hey, some people think Cape G. is a ‘Southern’ city (but don’t tell my Memphis friend Linda that!)[:O][swg] [#ditto] PC’s remarks about your not whistling too much until the dentist gets done on the next bunch of work. Stock up on foods you don’t have to bite with your teeth much.

Inch, enjoyed your ‘poodle & the leopard’ story, too! [:)] That first bike you posted the pics of looks like a genuine roll-yer-own. Plus, you could probably get a lot of the parts at HD (Go ***! ) On the second one, I didn’t know John Deere had gone into the motorcycle business...[:-^][:-^][:-^] Nice pics of the Lincoln depot. [yeah] A few DPM modules and someone could maybe build that.[:)]

Scott, on that mortar color? See if you can find vinyl (or some other water-based) spackling at local hardware store (try Home Depot, and help save ***’s front parking space!) [;)] You can paint the brick areas whatever color you want for your brick (red, yellow, whatever), and take a little bit of the spackling on your finger and spread a thin coat of it across the surface - it’ll get into the ‘mortar cracks’, but you can easily wipe off any excess. Also helps make the bricks look kinda old and dusty/dirty, too. I think I read that in one of my MRR’ing books, but don’t recall which one. Oh, by the way - I think your ‘steasel’ will solve the steam/diesel argument for a lot of people out there... (maybe) [}:)]

Nigel - you have one nice stable of power there! [tup] And the turntable looks very nicely done - have a roundhouse planned for some of those tracks later?

Okay, OzJim - Confused? You have me totally confused about which ‘football’/rugby is which. I guess one question that comes to mind is, how come they have three different games and rules/codes? Or do fans of one sport consider the other ones as not the ‘real thing’? [;)] Not trying to start up any flame wars here, mind ya. [:)]

PC - I’m glad to see you haven’t abdicated your throne as king of the TOPS! [}:)][swg] For a while I thought you’d gone into retirement... Sorry to hear about your wife’s Aunt passing. It’s always harder when it’s unexpected. But as you said, she is undoubtedly happier there now.

Fergie, congrats on the Tsunami installing easy for you. It’s always nicer when it goes in without hair loss...

Nigel, I’ll call on you when I get ready to wire up my layout - nice job! Heck, even if we larn the hard way, larnin’ is larnin’ [swg]... I’ll have to make sure I have lots of those Zip ties on hand. [:)]

Gumby, like your Bonhoeffer quote. [:)]

Our weather here got to around 94 today, but tomorrow and Sunday, they’re guessing it’ll possibly rain (or at least get wet enough to be quite humid). Better chance of rain on Father’s Day, they’re telling us. For me, that’s okay, since I don’t expect to hear from my daughter (figure they’ll be going to see Andy’s father, based on past experience), and besides, I’m the primary on-call for this Sunday (and the backup for a co-worker who is the primary for Saturday). Hoping the rain will keep everyone less anxious/depressed/etc. and I won’t get called in much at all. When you cover 8 a.m. to the next day’s 8 a.m. and then have to go in Monday and see clients no matter what, you hope for any calm time that you get.

Hoping I might get some MRR’ing work in tomorrow, so long as I don’t get called out to backup my co-worker.

Blessings and prayers, especially PC, those recuperating and in need,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Evening Gang:

PC: My thoughts and prayers are with your wife and you. If you need us we're here.

***: No shovels for this kid. I have a 25hp tractor with a front end loader and a 14' dump trailer. It took 3 loads to move the gravel and get it partly spread. I chainged the tailgate and let the trailer do the hard part. I still have to work it out with the tractor but it beats a shovel and rake.

I spent the morning mowing the grass over at my friends railroad track. John and I were getting it ready for the reception for the wedding. It was very dusty. At noon I came back to the house and took a shower and went to the gravel pile. That was much better.

Well it's back to work tomorrow. It won't be too bad because I go on vacation Tuesday.

Good Night All

Things are a bit better for the moment. I think the shock has worn off. The next couple of days could be challenging though. Nice to be able to come in here for a break.
