Afternoon everyone, looks like were in for nice weather this weekend, time for some yard work.

PC, condolences for your family's loss, just a reminder that none of us know when or how we'll be called home.

Nigel, very nice wiring job, like the idea of the wire markers, they would definitely make it easier to make sense of the spaghetti on the bottom side of the layout. I bookmarked the suppliers page. Wonder if they're available at HD or Lowes.

Supposed to be really hot Sunday, into the mid 90s. I may give myself a father's day gift and work on the layout. Have to go to the grocery store and get some more "clamps" to lay track. Only have enough to lay one or two pieces of flex track at a time now. That is a slow process, lay track, wait for adhesive to set up, lay more track, wait more, repeat.

For our hockey fans here, the local AHL club, Hershey Bears, won the league championship yesterday. The Calder Cup, took the series with Milwauki 4 games to two. For those wondering that is THE Hershey, Chocolatetown, where Hershey candy was founded and is still made.

Another bit of good news, for me at least, the local cable bill had a flyer in with it this month stating that cable broadband will be available here in August. [yeah] The past three years without has been like living in the dark ages again.

Not much else going on around here. Still working overtime and doing my best to keep up with my housework and get some 'me' time. See you later.

Good afternoon everyone....with the rains finally moved north to Nova Scotia and points NE of here, there has been the need for heavy duty work outside. 24,000 pounds of cement landscape blocks set in place so far.
The darn Rototiller got cranky again after an hour of use. So I need to dig into this baby again and see why the dog clutch keeps disengaging.

I received the DVD from Microsoft containing the new VISTA operating system, Beta 2 release for home user evaluation. I started the install last night at 11pm, that was not too smart because it took until 2am, which is normal. All went Aok, this new PC Operating System called VISTA, will replace Xp. It is really quite nice so far, with nice features. MS Outlook Express is GONE. With the VISTA OS, we now have WINDOWS MAIL. There is much to evaluate for Microsoft, so I am doing considerable exploring of the new features.

PC We are sorry to hear about the loss of your wife's aunt so suddenly. Our prayers are for your family Phil.

FERGIE Lisa is going to have a great time with the NG Weather Station. Does it come with any software for her PC so that she can track the data?

PAUL Glad to see you guys are finally getting some badly needed rain, hopefully not in gullywashers. As for shoveling gravel, boy do I know what you are going through, that is what we are using for the base and backfill of the wall at my son's house...I can only imagine what it feels like in the humidity and heat that you have in Texas, it is bad enough here at 80F and high humidity!!!!

MIKE In looking at your pictures, you have some great models to look at for weathering your cars, or anyone else for that matter.

RYAN Good lord, please don't pick up the Bostonian accent ( Kennedy's ), between the southern drawl, the Cajon Louisianna accents, the North Carolina lingo, you all ( Ya'll) will be totally screwed up!![;)]

Nothing going on here, been outside mowing and other yard work, since bout daylight, before it gets to hot.
Got over to the fair last evening and watched the pickup and farm tractor pull. Also spent some time with Mother, haven’t seen her but bout 10 minutes of a morning this week. Had a good pull, more trucks this year than tractors though and got to visit with some seldom seen friends.
PC wouldn’t have liked it though, to countrified for him, you know farmers n red necks.
ITPA pulls are tonight, that’s the big boys n girls, with the hot rod trucks and tractors, going for big payoffs and points for the national pulls.

Ryan , don’t thin yas quiets gots yet, but the thoughts do be there.

Nigel , wiring is one of the things, I plan on improving on the one I’m trying to build now. Thanks for the link also.

Big City Tom , I did finally get some pics from the camera downloaded, but not uploaded for posting from campground C. Till then you’ll have to be satisfied with the links on my post

well all had my front two top teeth pulled today thats all for the top next will be fitting for top plate but need to wait till august as then my dental insurance will cover 50% of it right now they cover 25% of my denture cost.

Morning all!

Think I've got all the hilljack out of me for a while.

Well, we had a rough night around here. My wife's Aunt, who she was pretty close to, passed away yesterday evening. She was only 55 years old. She was going out shopping with her sister and grandaughter and as they were driving to the store she all of a sudden breathed three big breaths in and out, then slumped over. She was gone. No other warning signs or anything. My wife and I will miss her, but she knew the Lord, so she's with Him now and I'll bet she wouldn't want to come back for anything. Tough night for those of us left behind. We'll miss her, at least until we get there. Kind of reminds me of that song by the group "Mercy Me" called "Homesick".

Well, I'm outta here for now. Don't know how much I'll be around the next couple of days. Probably be around some today, but I don't know about after that.

Not a bad trip. Only wanted to throw half the passengers off for bad behavior. Should have gone the cargo route. As it's been said, "boxes don't ***".[swg] On the other hand, the LHS tour was cool. Stopped by Grayland Station, Chicagoland Hobby and Ram Hobby. The CTA really makes getting around the city easy. Lots of cool stuff to look at. [8D] And yes, I did buy something.

I guess DCC is the next big purchase. I'm trying to go over all the threads on this board before making any decisions. Although some of the responses to questions makes my gun shy to ask my foolish newbie questions. Regardless, DCC looks like it will make better future layout plans far easier. So the learning and saving up begin.

I see we have a little of the hockey/soccer debate going on here. At least it is civil. [^] Around here, the debate has gone plain nasty. Also, started a F1/Nascar debate which as become equally nasty. [V]

It took some time, but I remember with the last layout having it all over the place and having to do the old wire tug trick to work out where it went and vowed never to do that again!

The Veranda is a Lionel, it runs pretty well. It has reasonable pulling power but nothing fantastic. I noticed it seemed to slow to about half speed one day and it must have got some flashing in the rear bogies as they just locked up and the front was dragging it around?!
I had a look but didn't find anything and it runs well now. I was a little disappointed with the handrails they are bit chunky. But it is still a sure purdy model!

I have been involved in some large mining installations and it makes fault finding much easier if it is all labelled and presented well.

I used Bradey DuraSleeve® Wire Marking Carriers to label all the wires so I can track them around the layout. They just slip over the end of the wire and I made some labels up in Excel to slip inside the sleeve.

I played most all sports but Hockey, and Soccer were always my favorates. I have a scar between the eyes and my brow twists a little to the right from a well placed Hockey Puck. I was a goalie before face masks. Hockey has always been big in my family. Ted Linsey and most of the Red Wings came to my brother Quintons funeral. Wow did he have the scars on his face. "72" Gordy Howe was a family friend. Even gave Quin one of his 24 jeweled watches, with Gordy Howe #9 on the back. In my eyes Gordy Howe is the greatest athlete of all time. He could have gone pro in any sport he chose.

I really got into Soccer in high school. No one really had any idea about the game back then, but we had a gym instructor from Ireland by the name O'Shea, who tried to get us into it. Many years and three boys later I took courses and became a licensed coach. I had 5 different teams by the time the last one graduated school. I love that game. Hey, a 144,000,000 people using the same rules can't be wrong.

Hi All: Just a short note tonight. No MRRing to talk about. It's still hot and very uncomfortable. I loaded the cuttings from the UP right of way this morning. That dump trailer sure makes unloading easy.

Guys I'm going to head for bed. I've got to move some gravel tomorrow and get to work on a fence. The heat really takes it out of you. On the bright side they are giving us a chance of rain for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Well not much on the go on the MR scene as it's been absolute nuts here. Lots of rain today as "Alberto" is rushing by and will leave us with another 3" of rain. The ship is scheduled to sail next Friday and I'm making ground very slowly but above water.

***: The National Geographic Weather station was back in stock and on sale. So when I get off I'll be on the roof hooking it up. Though I would have gotten good results today (The ship is rocking at the dock)

Paul: Got the Tsunami installed in the 2-10-2 and it was well worth it! Not a hard install as compared with others.
