Wow, looks like I'm the only insomniac tonight. Phone rang just as I was drifting off to sleep (about 2:00am). Wife & I both figured it was going to be about her Dad, but turned out to be an errant ring. Niether of us can get back to sleep. Ugh!

Question: What is the width of an HO scale paved country road? Highway? One lane dirt road? (is there a guide for this online somewhere?)

Mornin, an irish coffee Zoe.

Another nice day here, but a chance of rain coming in later in the day, then cooler, but dry, the rest the week.

TODD,,,,, think we may skip the meet there and go to the one in Decatur instead. It's an hour closer. There's swap meet close to you in Chatham coming up Nov 18'th [another flier] to raise funds for the depot museum there.

BARRY / RAY,,,,, there's always been cougars round here, even thou the state denied it. Last year the state had to change their tune, when one was killed by a car by Charleston and it made the news. I've always known there were cougars round and have seen several over the years, it's just the first time, one's been this close to the house.

RAY,,,, glad the visit with your FIL was a good one. We'll keep you folks in our thoughts.

ROBBY,, it's way to early and wet for a garden here other than radishes or maybe spring turnips.

Haven't done much in the train room the last few days. With this cold and working in the yard most the day, just to tired to start much. May do some this evening if the rain moves in early.

Best gets round, it's bout wakey, wakey time. Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya'll has a gooden.

Good Morning !!!! Flo, Oatmeal and a decaf tea please.

Frost on the windows here at the Jersey Shore.  Never was all that warm yesterday and won't be today...maybe 50.

Had a doctors appointment yesterday.  Needed to get prescriptions renewed.  Apparently I missed an appointment last year and haven't seen him since '07.  Dr. couldn't have been too concerned, he never called to remind me.  Usual blood tests for cholesterol, etc.  Now that the parents have passed on from cancer the Dr is all gung-ho on cancer screening.  He forgot I had already done that 2 years ago, have another 3 years before next "inspection".

Ah.. time to start work.  ome on topic stuff later.

Good Morning--We're at 9C in the dull clouds--going to be sunny with cloudy periods and a 40% chance of showers this afternoon. We're going to be sunny tomorrow as well!! heeheehee--but outdoor work is ahead for me--ohno ohnoDead---

Inch Around here we're still hearing the occassional blat about pet cougars being the root cause. On a few events, wherein some 6 sightings occurred some 80km apart,in a couple of hours they still claimed---"Oh, it's someone's pet cougar"--or in that case--"Cougars escaped from a circus/zoo/farm/whatever thing you can name---"--in other words we's still got poor beleagured experts in denial--I've got a SoapBox---on this I'll tell you. In fact there was NOTHING mentioned at all about what a truck driver nailed on the 401 just outside of Woodstock ON a couple of years ago when original reports said that he hit a Moose! We heard that there was an investigation into whether it was a deer or a moose--but the oddest thing occurred---no report ever came out----and yet anything else that happened ---reports came out---HMM--chin stroking time---HMM. Not that we're getting tin foil hat here but all the same----Banged HeadSighWhistling

Robby--That thing with your wife is kind of odd--We'll pray for her wellbeing--take care----

Chloe--I'll have a 3 egg special sunny side up and a coffee please. I'll be in the back booth---oh Chloe---did someone try to hide a catapault under this booth?--I thought so-----Whistling

Another warm day.  The high is about 66, not to bad.

Inch I agree.  The wife still has to start them in the basement.  I was getting the soil ready like........rocks, grass clumps, getting tools together.  Half of the neighborhood is further along than me.

Barry, thanks.

I don't have much layout work planned.  Might have to do a few laps with the engines.  Straighten up the layout as well.  I have stuff all over it.

Well I will be back later.  Everybody have a good morning.

 Good morning.

It's 46 and partly cloudy here. The high is projected to be in the high 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

I put together a couple of trackside shacks and an old 2 stall engine house yesterday. Placing the larger structure meant relocating the fire station and the O.L. King and Sons building. The fire dept has been moved to the east side of the south engine house and now has an old rusty steamer on it's back lot while the O.L. King building is just to the immediate west side of the south engine house and east of the old brick engine house which the south engine house replaced. The brick engine house is now used for repairing freight cars and has a single track going into it. Several minor structures were also shifted. Ezra's house is now atop the garage of his service station. The old Sundown freight station has been moved to the service spur on the main part of the layout and Rodney Craig's house now occupies the spot vacated by the Sundown freight station. I'm still looking for a place to put the Freezee ice cream building. I've removed the glass enclosure from the front of it as it looked too much like an old McDonald's building for my taste. Now that everybody is thoroughly confused it's time to move on to new business. Exactly what that will be is a mystery even to me as todays schedule is open.

 Hi.

Bad news, My Grandpa pased away on thursday in a logging accident. He was cutting wood with his chainsaw,  and when he cut a piece off a log, it shifted, and two logs on top of the pile slid down and hit him in the chest/neck area. Gram and my cousin pulled the logs off. It was instant, but the first responders wished they didn't look like a bunch of bums sitting around since a large part of my imedate family and a few cousins are in that particular fire department and everyone knew most of the people there. Most of the people from each fire department keep ther raidieos on scan, so when everyone in a fifty mile raidus heard that there was a accedent at grandpa's (He was popular with everyone) there was people from twenty fire departments there. Drawing from that my sister went in the hospital on monday, got out of the hospital on Tuesday, a friend of mine had a stroke on Wednesday, and the acedent on Thursday and all the viewings and the furnerail over the weekend, I've had an eventful week. Bye. Sad

Mornin' everyone!

nik, very sorry to hear about your Grandfather.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

It is currently 56°F here in the Finger Lakes.  A rather gray day out there with rain in the forecast for this afternoon.  The good news is that (knock on wood) that the forecast for this weekend looks good.  I'm hopeing that attendance will be good for the NMRA Meet (I would like my first one to be a success....).  I know I have put a lot of time and energy into the planning.

Zoe I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with NYS Maple Syrup and a side of bacon this morning.  Oh, I want my usual dark raost coffee in a FGLK Myg as well.  Thanks!

I'll be in the back making a list of "must get dones" for the rest of the day.

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Jeff.....   ummm. Okay then!

PC-  Pecan? or maybe Cheesecake?  I'm getting hungry.  It seems you've been laying low.  Everything okay?

Going to try and get ambitious and get the modules leveled and maybe some plywood tops on.  Was also thinking of using foamcore as a base/floor for the coffee plant.  I've used it before, makes for a firm, lightweight base and helps with interior detailing.

Got to take a break from this estate stuff, my head is spinning.

nik.n  sorry to here about your granddad.  A lot of us seem to be suffering from illnesses and personal losses lately.  There are those who say God has a plan,  but why does it have to hurt so much?  Part of life experience I imagine.....

Almost lunch time here, I'll put my order in now.  Chloe- Cheeseburger Deluxe with onion rings and a Dr. Pepper please.

Prayers for those in need and those departed.....

Nik, sorry to hear about your Grandpa, it’s good to hear he had touched the people in the community in a positive manner.  My condolences to you and your family.

Jeff, I feel you should be handing out score cards so we can keep up with your town, have you any thoughts of becoming a city manager?

I have to go to the podiatrist today to get fitted for new orthotics.  Not a big deal but I know they will have to adjust my foot before they make the castings.  As long as the female doctor doesn’t touch me I should be fine.  The male doctor adjusts the foot by hand and takes his time the female grabs the big toe and shakes the foot. From what I understand both methods are taught in school, but the toe flipping thing hurts like heck.

Good afternoon, a double cheeseburger, large plate of fries (in beef fat, please), and a small bucket of Coke.

There seems to be a lot of loss, and suffering amongst the Diner crowd. To all affected (sorry if that sounds cold/impersonal, just too many to list), please know you are not alone, and are in our thoughts. There is a particular fellowship here, I've not seen in other forums. I've seen the "brotherhood of the fire service" first-hand. I would propose there is a "brotherhood of the Diner" as well...and it seems to be a strong, powerful, positive force.

Its cloudy and much cooler in Clarence today. I might actually get some work done without expecting to go play with another grass, field, or ditch fire.

Speaking of fire, my Saturday is shot. The all-day HAZMAT Operations level training we were supposed to have had last month...is Saturday. Yippee. I hate HAZMAT, don't want any part of it. BUT, we're mandated to have the training. I like my Chief's theory: "We'll have at least ten of us that will know what to do...and hopefully, if we take off running away, everybody else will follow us!"

Back to RR stuff, here's a scan of a little print shot on a Kodak 110 film camera back in 1984. I found this sitting alongside the ex-Rock Island roundhouse in Cedar Rapids. A PRR boxcar wasn't far from it, and a jade green NYC boxcar was sitting farther out in the scrap yard (former RI yard).

 Hi.

...I've had an eventful week. Bye. Sad   ...

I have lit an EXTRA Prayer Candle for you and your family.

The standard Prayer Candle is up for those who else need thoughts and prayers.

Well, on the bad news front, I had to go to the Dr.s today. I had a pain in my lower back left quandrant  since Sat. It has taken away my appetite and was causing me lots of distress. Some Xrays later, and besides a pulled muscle causing spams, they found arthritis in my spine! I had to ask him twice to repeat that finding. That can explain why my back in general hurts now more than before. I know many people get it, woman in their hands particularly, but I'm only 45, and not ready for a life of arthritis pain. More to add to my list of illness/diseases.  SO now I have some good drugs...a muscle relaxer and pain killer. The pain killer doesn't seem to be doing much, but I think the muscle relaxer is starting to take effect..............forgive me if I nod off int he midlle of this........

Also looks like after a few days of spring Winter rears its ugly head again tomorrow at only 30* again.

I think I will make a cake tonight if anyone wants some! Then again with teh muscle relaxer..........

Time to wish you all well andf good nite before I really nod off......

-G .

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

 HO and N Scale.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Afternoon Gang:

Nick I'm very sorry to hear about your Grandfather. From the responce to the accident I'd say he was a very well liked man. Give you Grandmother my sympathys and the rest of the family.

I'll second what Chris said about the gang here. I wonder if Bergie has noticed how close we all are?

Not much going on here. Both Mary Ann and I are feeling a bit better. It's just taking so long for this crud to run it's course. She's been working on our taxes for the last couple of weeks. It's been really hard on her this year because of the sickness and all. I've tried to help but she has her system and it's better if I stay away. I do help a bit by doing the adding on some things and sorting out what's for the ranch. This year I think that she is going to let me get some files together and get at least some of the expensis on the computer. That way things will be really screwed up.

I have to get to paying dues and subscriptions. Both Trains and MR are due and the Great lakes Historical Society and The Leighton Buizzard Narrow Gauge Railway Socieity in England.

So with that I'll head on out and get at it.

Afternoon all, too nice out now to sit inside so I'll be going out soon.

Chloe, I will have a RBF before I leave.

Say what you will about Walthers but sometimes they're not that bad.  I had placed an order for a number of module kits since they seem to be giving them away. (They apparently have tons on the shelf)  Well, the order picker pulled the wrong part number, it happens, done it myself.  I called Walthers and of course they took care of the problem, it gets better.  The rep asks if I can use the mispulled item, which I will eventually.  "Why don't you keep it, the postage would cost too much to return it."  Sounds good to me.  Now, we're talking a low priced item hich would have cost 2.00 to return but still, nice deal.

English 2 Honors
Geometry Honors
Biology Honors
Physical Science Honors
Geography Honors
Spanish 2
PE
So, I'm going to work like heck on my layout this summer, so that it will be up[ and running for the school year.
oh, and it was either double up on Biology and phy./ science this year, or Biology and chemistry later on.
It was so funny though, b/c the lady pulled out my Explore test results, went "Well", looked really surprised, ahd to pause for a second or two, then said that she'd only seen this high of scores once, and something about I got the highest percentile you could get on the ACT to get into college or something like that.

Whistling

Nik,  our sincere condolances to you and your family on the loss of your Grandfather, These are tough things to endure, but we all experiences them, not once but many times in the course of a lifetime. Peace be with you as well as our thoughts and prayers.

Sawyer, Congratulations on such a good report that you received and good luck with that heavy load for next semester.  But, we all know you are a good man and by doing your best will accomplish much.

Have to go now, it is not all that pleasant here today.
