Can someone please start an April edition of this thread and link back to this edition? It's time to lock this one and start a new one.

How about some good music on the Juke Box and a slideshow to go with it on the big screen over the diner counter?

Ahhhh, yes, those maginificent old steam engines that once roamed the Great American West and a
remembrance of the great actors who portrayed  the great American cowboys, set to a famous western song.

Hmmm, give me a really great western omelet for lunch and a steaming hot cup of coffee to enjoy along with this  lunch time show.

Good morning ( almost lunch/dinner time ) . Cloudy here now and rain is moving in for later in the day, very active weather pattern in the country right now, but that is nothing unusual for this time of the year.

RAY: DEAF? NO, that is called, "selective hearing" at our age..lol, WHAT? Nothing dear, I was just talking with Ray! Who is Ray? He is our finance guru. ( See how it works Ray, shhhhhhhhhhhhh I hear her coming into the room )Whistling

JIM: TWO customers haven't showed up yet? Hmmmmm, could it be April 1st ?? Maybe Conflicker virus got them? LOL

JEFF: I haven't heard anything from Conflicker yet!!

FERGIE : WHERE ARE YOU????

DUKE & ED: I think we need to get a posse together and go look for Fergie.

I smell food cooking, ahh, dinner time, Ravioli on the menu today, stuffed with sausage, onions and peppers and covered with a cheese Cajon sauce. RYAN must be chief Chef today.

***Eric, I've always owned revolvers for the jam-free operation. Also never had anything heavier (speaking only of handguns) than a S&W blue 357, which I really liked but lost to fire. Wife wants something small in size but large in caliber, solely for personal protection. My concern would be it kicking back out of her hand. A shotgun would seem (to me) an easier gun for her as any close target is hard to miss with one. Not sure what would be best for her!?!?

HI guys Gray day and headache here.

All that talk about hot sauce gave me heartburn last night and reminded me that what I like anymore doesn't like me so much now. I pay if I have hot stuff now. Same with spicey. S does my other half, who always favored hot and spicey foods. I've had surgery on my esophagus and stomach so I don't need to aggrivate such matters. I have ribs in the freezer to do and will use mild BBQ sauce on them.

Should take van in for its works, don't know now.

HAve a great day!

Dear LEE SOULE,

Your application for 09-1568-SE-DB-M-R1, Bridge Management Specialist,

GS-2101-11 / 12 with the U.S. Coast Guard has been evaluated. You were found to be eligible for the position and your name was referred to the selecting official.

So far I'm the only one that has been seleceted for the job!!!

And in typical governmentese, they completely avoid any hint that perhaps, maybe, if you're lucky, that you will be getting the job, Lee.Confused Hope they actually notify you once you get it (and you will, I'm believing so). From your job description, it sounds like if it goes anywhere close to or across the water, it's yours to take care of (well, you and God, right?).Wow!!

Robby, that's a 'new' tanker that hasn't had enough time to get very rusty yet, right? Smile,Wink, & Grin Looks good! Oh, and I'm with you - my 'hot' sauce is Taco John's... I want to have taste buds left after I eat, so I can taste my next meal.Whistling

NittanyLion - I like the looks of that brewery building! Excellent job, and that should provide a bunch of switching! Bow Look forward to seeing that one once you get all that together (say, this summer?Wink)

Ken, I had noticed in going through the pages of posts since I got in last, that Bill T. hadn't posted. Anyone been able to contact him (email, phone, etc.)?

Okay, I've made a note for myself: Don't mess with PC! (He may be a pastor now, but he hasn't forgotten his old tricks, eh, PC?)

So far, my first two clients haven't showed up, so I decided to stop by the Diner and have breakfast. Sounds like several of you have been busy on MRR'ing projects.Yeah!! I've still not found that one book (Pelle Soeberg's) - I'm sure I have it somewhere, just need to go rent that bulldozer again, I guess.Banged Head

I'll be getting my breakfast taken care of here for a bit, and see who else comes in.

Blessings and prayers,

I've got a sister-in-law due for some rightous justice, some serious comeuppance, some glorious retribution... I keep thinking about adding a little...OK, a LOT of something along the lines of the "Bio Chemical Warfare" sauce to her meal at the next family gathering.MischiefPirate

I imagine THAT would liven things up a bit... add a little "spice" to the day...Whistling

Chris, there is an art to being subtle.  When done properly, it is far more effective then the out-and-out in your face style of so many these days.  Here is an example of what I'm talking about (from experience).......empty a pack of a friends (or relatives) cigarettes onto a table without them knowing.  Pull two cigarettes out and put an explosive load towards the tip of one, and a little over halfway through the other.  Now add the two "special" cigarettes back into the mix with the others, shuffle them all up, and put them all back in the pack.  Now leave the pack where you found it.  Nobody will have any idea which cigs are "doctored", and which ones aren't (even you!).  Also, for the ones that are "special", they'll have no idea when they'll go off.  After the first one blows, the next few will be smoked with some trepidation.  After the second one goes, they'll be as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.  Only you will know the danger is past.  Thats subtlelty!  For you, one big drop of "special sauce" somewhere in an entire sandwich will make the entire meal one of uncertainty, and only you will know that the coast is clear once the initial bite is past.  Meanwhile, you get to sit back and watch each cautious bite they take, chuckling to yourself the whole time.  (And yes.....nobody messes with me!)  Subtlety is an art form, and once it is mastered, it can be extremely effective! Evil  HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!! Big Smile

Mornin' everyone!

Another cloudy, gray day here in the Finger Lakes.  Will get some showers this afternoon, high around 49°F.

Ken we haven't had any posts from Bill on this side of the street quite a while either.  Hope he is OK!

RAY: I didn't know that you could sing??

Dick, believe me when I say I've had to sing for my supper many, many times. Wink  Voice was my principle instrument, Eastman grad 1968.  Unfortunately at this point in my life, being quite deaf, I have had to give up singing.  My audiologist has heard me sing and she says that's what caused the hearing problem...........Whistling

Zoe just a bowl of Raisin Bran cereal and a cup of Dark Roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.  Gotta start watching my diet again...........

I am waiting on a phone call from my SIL who is back in the area for the funeral last Saturday.  It seems that my nephew is about to become a Father and Both SILs may be waiting at the hospital for the arrival today.  If it doesn't happen today, the three of us plan to go out for lunch.  I only see the SIL from California once every couple years so I'm hoping the arrival doesn't arrive today..........

I got caught up on a lot of stuff yesterday and found a bit of time for "training" as well.  Hopefully today I will finish the outhouse and install it on the layout.

I'll be up front in the booth watching the trains!

Good morning!  from Woodstock, MD

Hi all, I'm just stickiing my head in here briefly to find out: Do any of you know what's going on with Bill Tidler?  He hasn't posted any of his familiar "good morning" messages in our coffee shop across the street for a few weeks now.  I see his last post here was March 20.  We miss his interesting photos, and we're getting a bit concerned.  One of us tried to PM him and he hasn't responded.

Ciao,

Morning all. If the weather would cooperate I would go and dullcote some of my more recent acquisitions. But it's raining, and it's supposed to rain ALL WEEK. So much for my spring breakSad.

Ray, looking good. What brand of metal wheels did you get in those trucks? I have 2 of those tank cars and I can't get anything to fit in them.

Garry, that is a nice Hudson.

NittanyLion, good looking mock-ups right there.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Chloe- Breakfast platter and a decaf please.  Saw my neurologist yesterday to renew my meds.  The muscle twitches are part of life he said.  Was happy I had no seizures during my parents deaths.  He said if I could put up with that kind of stress, I'm doing okay.

Rob-  I missed it, what is this road experiment you speak of?  For the wife there is always a Remington 870 Tac-2(18"barrel 6 shell cap) shotgun. or, the Tac-3, 3fs(20"barrel 7 shell cap.).  Of course getting the folding stock might be difficult.

NittnyLion- Looks sharp, I cheated and just taped my module pieces together to cardstock.

I adjust my sauce depending on who has the biggest mouth (bragger).  The last party we had I made several grades, the HOT stuff was exponentially spicier.  There aren't any braggers anymore.  After mopping the sweat off my boss, we suggested he try milk, rather than iced vodka, to soothe the heat.

Cloudy and cool today, I'll try and do some building work.

Eric

TOP!! Breakfast on me!!

A large cocoa with marshmallows, please & thanks.

***Eric, I've always owned revolvers for the jam-free operation. Also never had anything heavier (speaking only of handguns) than a S&W blue 357, which I really liked but lost to fire. ***Robby, EXCELLENT!

***NittanyLion, really like the mock-up. Look forward to seeing the project as it progresses.

All this talk of hot sauce has my tongue burning, as I am a "mild" kind of guy....(unless poked in the side with a stickMischiefLaugh)

Played around with that paved road experiment by rolling and twisting it a good bit and to my surprice, instand pot holes with minimal cracks. Wife was really pleased with what she saw, too. Also found the ideal scaled down chain-link fence material from a mass of old netting under the back shed. Cut out a couple samples of the netting and of a screen and both will have a place on the wife's layout.

***Jeffrey, I want to thank you for inspiring some of us (me) how to think outside the box and look for ways to create stuff on the cheap...and I mean that as a big compliment. I'm seriously going to try finishing our layouts without buying anything more. OK, might need to add some additional wee little people and a smattering of vehicles, but that should be about it. We have plenty of materials laying around to find uses for on the layouts.

Have a good night y'all.

Heartland Division CB&Q
Duke .... Now, don't you wihs the Berk was as nice as this Hudson?

I forgot to mention (distracted by all the toxic hot sauce flowing around here tonight) how impressive I think the CB&Q Hudsons are/were. I remember seeing one in Galesburg, always thought there should've been one in Creston (Iowa). For a division point, with at one time a large shop/roundhouse...you'd think the town would rate better than a crummy old crummy!

But, alas, 'tis all they rated.

Thanks fer postin' the pic!

G'night everybody...pleasant dreams, hopefully no hot sauce induced psycho-dillic nightmares...

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, did I hear someone mention BBQ pulled pork?  Got anything stronger than "Nursing Mother" formula?  Hot, no problem....  I can even manage to eat Ethiopian BBQ Beef without flinching.  (You want hot.....  the Ethiopians have only two strengths to their food.  Very, Very hot and "go to the emergency room right away"!)  A church I used to work for had a refugee family from Ethiopia and I went to several dinners and parties they put on when they lived here. Whoa!

Now for chicken, it has to be the Cornell Recipe!  My father brought the Cornell Chicken BBQ to Canandaigua when I was a kid and we used to have the 4-H clubs put on the original Chicken BBQs around these parts.  When working the BBQ pits, we always managed to drop a few into the coals....  Those couldn't be served so we got them! WhistlingBig Smile  Now I make my own Cornell Recipe sauce for family gatherings.

Managed to get a lot done today and even built a new outhouse (Laser kit) for Cooley's Blue Ice on the SLOW.  The kit was a gift from a friend who is a MMR.  I'll have photos later in the week.

Prayers for all in need!

I don't mind divvying it out, but I'm a pansy when it comes to hot sauces.  I like mine in the medium hot range......with flavor.

I'm with you pal, I used to brew up my own hot sauces...going for the temperature with "hotter" = "better." Then, a roomate cooked up a batch of chili that turned into a dare to see which man among the five of us would survive another teaspoon. This was in very early 1988, and I have no idea WHAT he put in it. Some recipie he got in Florida. We had the window wide open, with a blizzard outside and sub-zero windchill. We were sweating badly. I'm not a "chugger" when it comes to my beer, but a small "taste" of this stuff caused me to down the Old Style (the "official beer" of the Morrison Institute of Technology residence hall).  She ain't much to look at, but Junction Hollow segment of the Allegheny Division of the Allegheny, Mercer, and Lake Erie Railroad* makes its first humble steps towards reality.  As a paper and foamcore mockup on a folding table.  It will be a 9'x14" L shaped layout made up of five segments.  The 9' leg is 24" deep and the 14" is 30".  Not much to see yet but it sure is encouraging to see more than some lines on paper.  Also I didn't print nearly enough blank wall segments and had to use whatever I did print or could fashion out of other segments.  No roof either!

But I'm satisfied with the general look of the Pittsburgh Brewing Company there.  Theres an outbuilding that needs fabricated too, where that hopper is parked.  And to the east (right) of the brewery will be some sort of other structure.

Yeah the quality is poor, but its not like I was photographing.  Plus the out of focus, lack of lighting, and so on hides the exoskeleton of scotch tape holding those things together!

Two building kits I plan to use on section #2 arrived in the mail today, I hope to have something accomplished with that by friday.

* The AM&LE is pretty much the Bessemer & Lake Erie, Buffalo & Pittsburgh, and Allegheny Valley Railroads glued together into one big regional.  Junction Hollow is an actual location in Pittsburgh, ex B&O track operated by the AVR.

Hot sauce, Hot sauce, hot sauce. Is that all you guys ever talk about, Hot sauce? Ooh speaking of hot sauce, I like a  hot sauce that isn't just hot but has flavor. Not just heat. I looooooove BBQ sauce too. All kinds. Though I'm not keen on the vinegar type. (sorry S.E.'ers). Mustard based, tomato based, molasses based, yum, yum!  Can be sweet or tangy for pork or chicken, but has to be tangy for beef. Hot or mild bring it on! Oh man ya done flung a cravin' on me! Next thing you know you guys will be in the great "what's better beef or pork" debate.Chef
