This picture is from 2003, I’m the guy on the right holding the award.  The guy on the left was my XO.

Good morning all, I’m a little behind posts again.  I finished the scratch build on my REA transfer building and worked on the riverbed section of the layout.  I also discovered the Tsunami sound decoders don’t come with a speaker! So now I need to find an appropriate speaker.  Any recommendations for the diner?

Mornin, a tall irish coffee and is that fresh dutch apple pie I smell in the oven Zoe. Yea I know its a bit early, but ,,,,

Got some more snow forecast for latter tonight, [winter storm warning for the counties just south of us] and 3" to 5" between now n Thur or Fri.

Thought I'd catch ya'll up on the families and my health problems the last 2 weeks or so [7 days in the hospital], but after reading the last few pages, my troubles are nothing compared to several others.

Our thoughts n prayers go out for all of you and all the families in need.

Finally felt like working on the layout some yesterday [1'st time in a month]. Started laying out the streets n such for town, worked on the park some and started building the control panel for the small yard [again]. Planning on doing some more today when I'm able to be upright more than 5 minutes and my left hand isn't shaking.

Guess it's my turn, since bout everyone else has posted a pic. I'm the taller one in middle, with mom and my brother n sister.

Well best gets round, hope ya'll has a gooden n stay warm

Did I hear Chocolate Cream Pie?????  Uh, Zoe i'll have a big slice of that Chocolate cream pie.... and shake all the calories out of it before you bring it to the table.  Oh, you always do that anyway?  Well good!  And a cup of decafe in a R&GV Mug please.

I spent some time downstairs making more line poles for the Yard at Hopewell Junction.  I also found a rare type of signal pole that was used on the NYO&W back in the 20's just before and after a tunnel.  Could be reasonably easy to scratch build and could be run with a tortoise motor quite easily.  I think I will give one a try and see how it works out.

I also downloaded and tried out some software that can be used for conference calls on the computer.  Seems to work well.  I found I can use equipment I already have and hook it with Firewire into the Mac.

Prayers for all in need.  Have a good evening!

I thought we were OUT of PIE??

Are you kidding? LOL!!! This bunch have a pipeline from some of the best pie places around!!Rolly 1

Anyhooo can I get a couple more slices please-----oh and a refill of coffee please....

Evenin everbody. Just a Dr Pepper please. Lasagna turned out pretty good. Sorry the cheese was a bit over done but WPF you know. Dig in. Plenty to go around. Oh and yes that’s real Ricotta if anyone has cheese problems.Chef

Well so far everyone is looking like I pictured them….not! Especially RobbyP. You’re too young to weather like that!!!!!Big Smile

Eric a good friend of mine lost a kidney almost 30 years ago and is living a very happy and active life. He doesn’t even know the difference. Make sure you let us know when she goes for surgery. There will be “Power Prayers”Angel

Jim- Yes I imagine it would. IF it were to happen of courseWhistling

John- Funny you should mention that. Today I learned to screw the lid on after every use. Close call, but close enough. And a big hearty “well of course!” on the whipped cream.Thumbs Up

Barry- no alarm.Shock

Ray- I think BC planned it that way, just watch he’ll be in and order! Smile,Wink, & Grin

OK now to those volunteers. In my opinion there are few people I hold in higher regard than you volunteers. I’ll not take up space to go into why. If you have volunteer Firefighters and EMT’s you know, if you never have then you may not understand. We do and we know. There is not enough words to express our appreciation so even though you re not “my volunteers” you are of the brotherhood. So I say to you Thank you. Thank you for everything.Bow

What about the PIE?  The girls have been standing around for a while!  Well actually, I'll have some cake today, Chocolate and a decaf please?

Jim; Dad is not yet in pain, but we will see whether the lung disease or the cancer takes over first.  In any case, I appreciate your and the others blessings and understanding of my situation.

John; I was looking for an inexpensive (?)  N-scale snap track set up.  KATO is obviously the best choice.. however this is Bachmann e-z track.  It will do the job, I did find some atlas n flex-track I bought several years ago.  We will see which way I go.  The BIG investment I have is in HO ($$$$$$ in equipment, waiting for layout $$).  The carpet is actually a commercial carpet remnant that is low 'fuzz'.  That along with my work boots and the cats, the carpet is pretty worn. There are no other humans in the house and the neighbors stay away because of the strange noises that come from within.Mischief  btw Flickr.com  Yahoo owns it

Der, I like that idea of using the amerture from an old pancake motor as a car load. Wonder if some busted P2K and athearn ones I have laying around will work...

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good evening to all on this windy and cold Sunday.  Two projects completed on the layout today. First of all, the loco wheel-cleaning station on the lower yard facia. First, the plug-in

and the unit ready for action

The second is the flat car load, using a couple of old armatures from ancient HO motors.  Jeff, you may be able to identify these...they are not quite identical, one a tad larger than the other.

I haven't run it yet to see if that weight will, together with the new trucks and couplers, make it behave better.  I'll wait until the freight that's staged in my mid-level loop passing siding heads down to Danielsburgh, and the Time-Saver there, to pick it up.

PC:

Disturbing......isn't it?

...Oh yes, and what's even more disturbing is that it can be enlarged! WinkBig Smile

Bama:

(although I'm probably going to be ordering 99% of the stuff online).
...quite so, and some LHSs don't help themselves stay in business. The smaller of our two not-so-locals got me a couple of packs of Cornerstone end-of-track bumpers. Walthers, when I ordered them, had them on sale for a little over $11 US./ pack. Now, I know that the Canadian $ has dropped against the US recently, and I know that there's shipping, duty and sales tax, but folks I didn't expect to be charged ove $41 Cdn. It's unlikely I'll be doing much more busines there, which I feel badly about...but I'm on a budget too.SoapBox

Todd:

Waffle with strawberries and lots of whipped cream (I hear the snickers)
...not from me!  I love that whipped cream, but stiffly whipped so it's almost turned to butter! The sloppy kind is a waste of a good opportunity! My 2 cents- Double Ditto on your praise for the Diner patrons.Thumbs UpThumbs Up...and on the mrr misshaps thread...may I add "put the cap back on the Plastruct Plastic Weld bottle and SCREW IT DOWN before you tip it while not looking in order to see where the thingy you were going to glue fell to." Don't ask me how I know...I'm just glad I was able to recover most of the spill back  into the bottle, and then scrape the dried remains from the desk since it hadn't disloved that surface! Blush

Paul:That is good news about Mary Ann...pity she has to lose a kindney, but if the other is able to do it's thing better, that has to be more cheerful for her. Prayers continuing.Angel

Eric:

Still no response from photobucket.  Is there another site around?
...You may try Searching under Railimages. I had an account there when I first came to the old Coffee Shop.  I liked PB better because it's more general (vis the cat-in-my-lap pic isn't exactly mr). However, I'm sure that by now there are many more general sites available.  Other folks will know.  Prayers continuing for your parents too.Angel  Oh, I see you've found a site for the pics.  What track is that?  It seems not to mind being on carpet.

Joe:
Let's just say I don't look good in pictures... I don't want to embarrass myself.
...know what you mean...I wait for the rare occassion that a good one comes along.  This is from a trip we made this Fall, and was taken in a genuine 50s Diner, The Starlight, Summerside , Prince Edward Island. It's the same a my Avatar, but it seems large is the required format tonight.Tongue

Todd and Ray and Jeff, good to see the BMS (Bearded Mmr Society) is far from extinction!Thumbs Up

Jeff: A Dalek! How?

Robby:

the workbench well........its a mess.
...The mrr in Sheet Harbour sent me a bunch of photos of his layout, includung his work bench...like an operating theatre!  Mine? well that's a mess too.

Well, it's time to get those trains running...see if that freight will come faultlessly out of staging...it seems every other car has some issue or other, and then the locos are finding all the spots on turnouts where the insulating paint I put on to prevent shorts has worn or been cleaned off. Banged Head

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all  in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel

Evening, Janie - I'll have a RBF and a bowl of brocolli cheese soup, and a small whole grain baguette (for dippin'), please 'n' thankyouma'am! Dinner

Cold enough here in Cape G. today - the high was around 23 F but the wind chill dropped that to 13 F. The actual temp's supposed to drop to about 20 F tonight, and then tomorrow (Monday) evening the real fun begins! Yeah!! Freezing drizzle (and just WHAT exactly is that supposed to be?), followed on Tuesday with freezing rain and a 'high' of 30 F (what is that, almost shirt sleeve weather for you, Barry?). I say, let's drop the temp another 10 degrees (F) and just make the whole thing snow, so we can have some fun with it! EvilYeah!!Pirate

Eric, that's pretty much Grumpy on your Dad's health. Will they at least be able to give him some medication to take away - or at least minimize - his pain? AngelAngel on their way for him (and you and the rest of the family). How has your Mom been doing? You post in here whenever you feel like it (and when the timeouts aren't keepin' you from it...). Oh, and (ahem...) it's now called a 'blog' - we're gonna put some of those fancy Twitter and delicio.us and other links off the ETD page, haven't ya heard?Whistling Wink (Just kidding on that last)

Barry and Ray - you know what it is on DerJohn's kitty, right? She's just enjoying the heat escaping up through the keyboard. Good ol' toasty laptop! And Ray - you need to put your winter socks on when you're typing downstairs, I would say. Yeah!!

And a belated Happy B-Day to you, Dick? Did you get any (MRR) birthday presents from your wife? Or just get treated to dinner (out?)?

GMTRacing
When will we see some progress pics from the train room? we nosey people are getting curious

Yeah!!, JR - and we curious people are getting nosey, too! Smile,Wink, & Grin

JR, sounds like you got some good stuff at the show. And when can we expect pics of your loot - I mean, your haul from Amherst?

Tom, I guess having a green lawn every 40 years or so is plenty enough, eh? I think your area is mixing up our 'interesting' brew that we will be seeing here on Monday or Tuesday. Sounds like you'd best not be opening the door for a while - I hear that Spooky and Remington have been sneaking out at night and putting up 'cat posters', telling all the neighborhood felines what great food and accomodations ("...and all the Yellowstones you can catch...") you have there at your "cat hotel"... Wiezl's decided to move in already, eh? Good luck there!!Shock

pcarrell
In a way, it affords us some comfort in our anonymity, while at the same time, that anonymity allows us to be maybe a little more open and honest.

Nah, PC - I'm just as ornery in person as I am in here.  Hmm, I had you pictured as better looking than that, Phillip!OopsLaugh

Oh, yeah, here's something I found in our local post office:

Those of you without cats can use those to keep the mice and smaller critters away...Wink

Bama, you do realize that once you hold some trains in your hands, the craving will only get worse...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Uh, Todd, that - hypothetically speaking, of course - sounds like a heck of a MESS (tm - registered to Fergie, natch), if someone were to have that happen to himself...Whistling

Paul, that sounds like good great news for Mary Ann and you on the aneurism - and may things turn out even better than the doctors think! Thumbs Up

It's been... interesting?... seeing everyone else's pics - uh, Robby, you're not a shapeshifter, by any chance, are ya? Smile,Wink, & Grin Jeff - are you the one in the rollaround robot, or the walking one? Wow!!

By the way, Robby - you forgot to put the (tm) after 'mess' (tm)...Whistling I'm sure Fergie will be sending you the bill in Monday's mail.Wink

unca roggie
Now that I've gotten older and everything, no one notices me, even when I'm standing there with my Visa card held out, impatiently.

Aw, UncaRog, it's just that they're busy helping everyone with their gold and platinum cards first. Sigh (Story of my life...)

Oh, on the train front, I have the walls glued together on my Walthers modular warehouse (and each side wall glued to the long wall on its one side). Now that I see how big this first one is, I may not need to build another one(!). I did find out that the directions are a bit off - the foundations are bigger/longer than how big the walls are when I got them glued together. Not to worry - I will just cut down the corner blocks for the foundation a bunch to make it up. Then I'll need to weather the building about twice as much as Robby's RI hopper, I guess. Smile,Wink, & Grin Still need to paint the walls before I tackle the windows and doors (and putting them into the walls), and then put the glass in. I'll try some photos with the w**k cellphone camera (once I figure how to get it in better focus than before).

Prayers for those needing healing, comfort or hugs. (I'll work on prayers for the winning lottery ticket, but that may take a bit longer...)

Blessings,
