That card you're looking for is something of a relic. The only other one I've ever seen is in our company camera - the one powered by four AA batteries that will last for a dozen shots IF you turn off the LCD display. Odds are if you come across one it'll probably be from somebody looking to just get rid of it. Hope you find it.
I've been meaning to drop by this place for some time, looks pretty inviting through the window. Plus, I just enjoy wasting bandwidth...

I worked on the layout some, and started to weather a old 3 bay hopper I found.

pcarrell Well, it's been an interesting day. Last Friday night, my leg started to hurt. Now I didn't remember banging my leg or anything, but it was quite painful. I figured a good nights rest and I'd be good to go, right? So I wake up Saturday and it feels much better. No problem, OK? By Saturday night it's back to hurting, but I figured I'd been on my feet a lot, so more rest would do it. Sunday morning, it's much better. By Sunday evening after a rather quiet day it's not bad, so it's off to bed. Monday and it's near normal feeling, until the evening. By evening I can barely walk and I had a lot of trouble getting up the stairs. Actually, I made it up a few steps, then resigned myself to ridde the wifes chair lift the rest of the way. That leads me to this morning............... I go to work for a couple hours to tie up a few things, all the while I'm really hurting and am hobbling around. I head to the doctor and I'm told I have cellutitus, which is fast moving and can quickly develop into necrotizing fasciitis, which is more commonly known as flesh- eating disease. Nasty stuff indeed! I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to have it looked at again. I've been lying down most of the day, and they gave me a ton of antibiotics. They may have to do IV antibiotics tomorrow, so we'll see about what fun tomorrow brings. Anyways, I hadn't stopped by yet today, so I thought I'd let you all know I'm alive. I'm alive!

As far as the weather, if something important comes up the weather will mess it up....
galaxyJeffrey you can't get those cards anymore? I see 'em everywhere, At least I think.
a few snowflurries at most.
Oh Barry! Now ya done went and did it! Nothing will bring on a blizzard quicker than saying something like that......... Back when I was teaching there was a lynch mob waiting in the faculty room for the teacher who would walk in and say, "Snow day tomorrow!" 'cause that would jinx it. We used to have one teacher (first grade I think) That used to swear that every time she had the kids make paper snowflakes and put them in her classroom windows we would end up getting a snowstorm and a day off from school. It evidently worked for her. I can remember when one particularly snowless year and under some harsh working conditions, every teacher in the district had paper snowflakes in their windows.
A friend of mine who was a Technology (Shop) teacher and I used to walk in the office every Monday morning and say (in front of the principal and other staff), "Is it Friday yet?". The last couple years he taught, he had a number on his caulk board. Every day the number was one less. He would never tell his students what it was, but most of us knew it was the days until retirement. Middle School kids knew all the right buttons to push in his class.... It was a wonder he didn't die of a stroke before he retired. The last 2 years he taught his hands shook constantly. We all thought he was developing Parkinson's. Six months after he retired he came back to visit at lunch time. He walked in, held his hands out and said, Look!" Steady as a rock. A lot of middle schoolers would try the same crap on me, but I would laugh at them. And then quietly say, "see you after school, you have a detention with me." "What's that? OK. Now you have a detention with me and a call home tonight to your parents." "Oh really, Now you have a detention with me, a call to your parents, and a trip to the vice-principals office!" Most got the idea fairly quickly........... Especially after they found out that I did exactly what I said I would do.... Which leads me to:
Packers#1Well, had to teach a mini-course on model railroading today, and let me tell you, ain't nothin too fun 'bout teaching. It was all-right, but not really all that fun.
Yep, now you know. Teaching qualifies as w**k!

Sounds like you did a good job!
I got most of the stuff back to the appropriate schools and scaned in everything in the winning pile that will fit on my scanner. I also brought in two wheelbarrows full of wood and filled the log ring in the house, and have a 3rd. wheelbarrow full on the porch just in case the weatherman isn't wrong for a change.... and we do get all the......... you know. One bad sign for here is that I have a doctors appointment (Psoriasis) tomorrow morning in Canandaigua (15 mile drive one way).
Well time for some dessert Zoe. How about a hot fudge sundae and a mug of decafe. Getting tied of the same old pie.
[edit] Philip, somehow missed your post! I had that about about 4 and a half years ago. Came on during a Boy Scout Camporee that I was in charge of. Waited a few days and finally decided to call my doctor. I was convinced that I had a deep vein blood clot and was scared to death! They sent me over to the hospital for an ultra sound that ruled out a clot, and put me on some mega antibiotics. Went back every couple of days for a week and was on the meds for around 3 weeks. I came close to having the IV antibiotics.
Hope you will be feeling better very soon. You are in my prayers sir!

Our weatherguessers have us pegged as being snowbound by tomorrow morning with 6-8" of snow---it is only partly cloudy with a temperature of -9C as I type here. I guess nothing of the sort---a few snowflurries at most.
Chloe--can I get a Tbone Steak, medium rare with the fixin's and a slice of Raspberry Cheesecake PIE!!! please--Oh and a cofffee as well thanks
And the grouching regarding the WPF finally got locked I see---I was laying bets with a friend of mine when that would be---he insists on lurking---been in the train room working on scratchbuilding a granery for an elevator and a 3stall garage for restoration of older vehicles---I have a mittfull of N scale cars that don't quite fit the era I model---I have to put them somewhere!
Good Evening, Chloe, Zoe - I see it's almost shift change for you two. Since Ryan's posted that yummy menu already, I think I'll have a "multi-RR dinner," please. I'll have the Southern Rail sirloin (medium), a side salad with Italian dressing, glass of milk, cup of the Tim Horton, and one of those B&O apple pie a la mode's. Thanks!
I got a touch of cabin fever - went out once after lunch - and had a couple/three neighborhood kids offer to help me get the ice off my car (but I only had the one scraper, and didn't really want to have them too close and worry about knocking off a piece of ice that might hit one of them). After a bit of the ice-w**k, I came back inside to try to let my gloves dry out, and to change my soggy pants (leaning against the car to get at some of the "ice floes" ends up with wet spots on one's pants, I found). Then a bit after that, I decided to try to swing by my credit union (to check my account balances - I'd been having problems connecting to the online lookup page), and to get some gas. I figured I could at least get a printout for each account at the ATM. WRONG! I couldn't get either account to show me a total balance(!). Now, I'm wondering if it's just the CU's servers that are down, or if someone hacked into their 'puters...
So I got some gas for the car (at 3 cents less - the cash place was closed and its price was $1.65 a gallon, while the convenience store down the street (which gives a cash discount) was selling at their cash price of $1.62/gallon. Drove out to the Panera's Bread place. Roads weren't bad - growing up in the winter in St. Louis, I'd drive on this bad of streets a dozen times a week in winter! Yeehaw!
Inch, sorry to hear of your family members' health problems. Careful that you don't get the strep throat from one of the young'uns.
Eric, as for the Grinches, there's another phrase we use in here: "Don't feed the trolls"... I would expect that our posts (and what images we use in them) are mostly smaller ones (I've noticed that some are just posting the link, which definitely doesn't tie up much bandwidth. Those who want to complain, will. Nothing worth getting all lathered up about, right?
Terry, for the still, you want it (I understand, never having actually seen one) located back behind the backyard in a bunch of woods and trees. Harder for them revenooers to find it when it's not close by the house! Maybe add another hound dog under the front porch (have the front of the porch 'open', so the viewer can see 'em). I like what you've done with those houses so far.
And I'll second Garry's comments about his 'likes.' Speaking of which, Chloe, could I have a couple of those, please? Thanks! Good to hear you're doing okay there, Garry.
Jerry, take care of your sore throat. Oh, I heard on our TV station this morning that (locally) 200+ schools in this part of the region were closed today. Nobody's taking any chances, by golly!
Eric, I liked your post - as you said, a nice slice of pie with ice cream (or some cookies) and a beverage, now there's a peaceable, enjoyable afternoon (that, and a turnout or two...).
I'd best be going now - it's turning dark and I want to head home while I can (sort of) have an idea where my car's spot in the parking lot is. You all take care of yourselves, and if I don't have to go to w**k in the morning, I'll be by again for breakfast. Prayers for those ailing and in need of comfort.
Blessings and stay warm tonight,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Been reading the weather reports coming through here. I sit by the window, waiting .... waiting ....waiting.... What will come!!!?? Will it be snow!? Will it be ice!?...... What will it be!!!!!? What will I do!!!!? What will I do!!? Where will I go!!!? I'll sit right here, having my coffee and piece of warm apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. I'll wait for the boss to call me into work at 2:30 in the morning so school can open on time.
The train runs round and round...much as it did when I was a kid...... waiting for a place to go. Time for a switch.. a place to drop the car.. A place to get away from the world for a while and make believe....

Anybody have a SM card they can part with? Not many cameras around anymore that use these.
Afternoon all...It's cloudy and 20 here we have 3 to 4 inches of snow and are waiting for the second wave to start latter this evening..lots of schools closed to the south but here they dismissed 2 hours early,...I'll have a RBF please...Thank You..I spend most of AM napping in chair fighting off a sore throat...Only training I did was to glue a Thomas the Tank engine light switch cover back together..[one of the Grand Daughters dropped it and broke it at a train show 3 or 4 years ago and I had to buy it] and put it up..Sallie hasn't seen it yet!! may have to take it back down!
Inch Mike...Sorry to hear about your health troubles..You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers...If You need someone to talk to give me a ring...
Terry...Nice modeling on Miners Homes...Your layout is looking great..keep those photos coming..
Jeff...Like the engine house..Hope to see a photo when you get foundation under it..
Garry...Sounds like you are getting the ice from this storm..Hope your power stays on and you don't have to get out in it..
You all have a good night...Jerry
It's definately icy here, and the ice storm warning continues until noon Wednesday. Trees are down, etc. We are essentially stranded because our road has steep hills and ice makes driving impossible. Power has been off and on several times so far. When it's on I work on the layout.
I liked pix of Terry's houses, Jeff's enginehouse, and Ray's cookies.

ewl01So, I see on another thread (locked WPF) that we are a waste of bandwidth, talking nonsense.
In almost every case the people saying that are ones that never come here or have better things to do than 'waste time' chatting with good people.

Yes it will. A turnout will be put into the track leading into the engine house.

So, I see on another thread (locked WPF) that we are a waste of bandwidth, talking nonsense. I've noticed plenty of scale and 1:1 train postings and discussions here, along with having a good time. Some people are way too serious, they probably don't have many friends in real life. Must be the Grinch hobbyist that shops at the Grinch owned hobbyshop! I tend not to respond on those threads, seems like I'm tresspassing on 'their' turf.

I'll go see what other thread I can get insulted on.....
I finally got the Engine house doorway cut out the way I want. Now I have to get some foam board and rough out the foundation. I'll have to wait til my SS check hits the bank (Friday).

***Inch, you and your relatives sure are having a time of things. Healing thoughts heading your way. And for what little it is worth, it could always be worse.
***Robby/Galaxy/etc...try not to have too much fun in that beautiful weather you're having. And if you get the chance, how about building a "SnowTrain"?
***Terry, excellent scene with the new miners houses.
***Ray, sounds like a fun cat you have there. 18lbs...a BIG kitty.
My buddy with UPS is bringing a bed frame ordered online (like the last one but in black). Comes in 5 boxes with hundreds of parts (mostly screws, pegs, mails and various fittings). It will sure be nice to FINALLY be moved into our new master bedroom. Been sleeping in an old bed adjacent to my art studio and I've had a tough time both working and keeping the fumes down to a minimum. Still to cold to work out on my painting porch which is best suited for warm weather with all the windows open.
Have a good day all. Rob
Good morning, All. I missed that I was the top of the page last night, so I will help Jeff pay this morning.
Ryan, The scallops look so good that we might eat out. I am not brave enough to bring seafood home. It always seems to stink up the house.
Oh--Chloe, can I get a cheeseburger and a large coke please--Thanks.
I'm having some fun with 'Spring'--he insists he must have my CN caboose so everytime I put it on the track I get this ---MIC--MIC--MICMIC clicking jaw business then a leap on to the track and stalking bit going---I always--so far--get to the cabeese before he does though-----heeheehee

Paul, you noticed the "bloat" too eh! It is the MR forum stripping out my code to set the image width="100" pixels and then renders the images the original size. I have fixed the issue by resizing the images to 100 pixel width before linking them into the diner menu table code. No bloated menu today.....
Jim, thanks for the heads up on the CBS News and the cat story, I have it recorded and will watch later. Animals are a great therapy. And good luck with the snow and weather!
CN Charlie, interesting about the stamp collection. I have a couple boxes full of FDC's and USPS sheets that I collected over the years and a few older US stamps. I wonder if it holds any value at all.

Did someone say COOKIES?
Mornin' everyone!
I'm pulling a BC this morning and typing with a cat in one arm...... My little 18lb. Blackie has decided that it is time to be cuddled. He will climb up on my shoulder (digging his back claws into my stomach) and nuzzle. Then he will either lick or bite my nose, depending on how excited he is...... This one has a couple really cute habits. One is sticking his tongue out, the other is when I pet him, he pets my shoulder. Actually draws his paw across my shoulder imitating what I am doing to him.
Chloe I'll have that cookie that is on the plate all by itself and a mug of dark roast coffee in an FGLK mug. Thank you!
Have some errands to run so I will catch up with all of you later.
Good Morning, Zoe, Diners! Looks like a smaller crowd in here this morning so far, but growing. Oh, Zoe, I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, cup of coffee, and one of those breakfast omelettes (hold the peppers, though), and some toast with blackberry jam (the non-electronic kind ). Thanks!
Had some glitches with my connection (probably not the forum software, for a change). No power outages here overnight, but they had some 30-60 miles or so to the south of Cape. South of us got more ice, too, so that's why their power is out. In Cape, we're at 26 F and a wind chill of 15 F (about where the temps were around the evening news last night). The area near my apartment building isn't as vulnerable for ice-based outages, because most of the buildings I see around us have underground lines into the buildings. Also, our power substation is just over on the other side of the hill, to the west of us, and it's rarely (if ever) lost power. Now, as for our roads.... - another matter there! Finally got the word that our medical director (Dr.) told the CEO and nurses that we would be closed today. My immediate supervisor told me that, but said she hasn't heard from our clinical director so far. Were I a bettin' man, my money would be on: "We're closed, folks!" Our morning weather guy said we got 2 inches of sleet/slush last night, and that there's more to come through the day. Hopefully, Garry's or our Illinois Diners' areas not getting as much of the slippery stuff. Hey, I'll take snow over ice about any day... (sorry 'bout your pipes, though, Galaxy)
Terry - great job on those miners' shacks (and the road looks great - nice touch, with that slight curve).
Today may be a great day to get some MRR'ing work in, so I'm hoping for some progress on a building or two in the day's effort. I'll get outside and scrape some of the ice off later, maybe see what the roads are like. (I'm used to more northerly weather, having grown up in the St. Louis area)I'll be drinking my juice and coffee, and warming up by the wood stove while I wait for my breakfast. Blessings,Jim in Cape Girardeau
Inch- Glad you only got the snow. I know what you mean on the back. That is almost the same reason I was "retired" Long explanation as to why (maybe someone out there is familiar with and "Excepted Technician" in the government). Mine was treated with phys. therapy to realign verts that were pinching and Old Arthur Itis picked a bad spot to live. Luckily I just have to watch what I do, mainly how I move. I got the excersises and all so I just do few of those for a bit and drop some Tylenol til then and zippity doo I'm off again. Til I sit up wrong, bend wrong reach for my coffee wrong. Like the wife has told me I do a lot of things wrong!!
Think I'll paint the ground today. Didn't get the snow overnight we were supposed to get so may have to get out today. That wouldn't be to awful bad. This is Tues so FLHS is open. Maybe if I gotta go into town . Might supposed to get another 1" or so today but haey they said 2" last night by this morn.not complainig though.
Kinda worried about Jim and Garry. Haven't heard from them this morn. The weather channel is in Paducah and I think Cape G. Looks to be not good. John I think you were talking about potential power outs. But by the time it takes me to type. And then go remove all the extra letters and add the ones that didn't type. Re-arrange the letters and re-arrange the spacings. All the missing people may have checked in and are Okee dokee. Let's hope.

In order to keep my position as Master and Supreme Ruler of the House, I don't argue with my wife.
I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk.
I guess you can blame that on me being form NC. I use to love when it snowed (or a dusting down there). I love to see it fall, but after awhile it gets old. I have lived in PA almost 3 years now, and I am still not use to the snow. The weather guy said it has snowed (or a trace) 23 out of 27 days so far.
I know ya'll NY people think 4 inchs is not much, but to me thats ALOT!!! My wife still laughs at me. Shes was born and raised here in Pa. I would have to get her to drive me around in the snow down in NC when we lived there.
I hope we get what they are calling for, but I don't like to see family members having to be out in it.
