Evenin' Everyone!

So what's this doing on page 2?  Somebody is noy doing their job here........Grumpy

Zoe, I'll have that Hawaiian Chicken Special that Jeffery was munching on earlier.  Looks good! Oh, and a mug of decafe please.  For dessert a big hunk of that left over Birthday Cake for Dick's party.  Thank You.  (I've been eating too much pie lately.........)

I managed to get Art and poetry back to the 2 parochial schools here in Geneva today and sorted everything for one of the 2 elementary public schools.  That will get taken back tomorrow.  That leaves me with one more elementary school to sort everything by grade and teacher and then deliver back to the School.  The first place entries were in the local newspaper tonight so I will pick them up at the paper sometimew tomorrow as well.  Then I just have to scan and photograph all the winners,  sort them by schools and deliver them...........  There is one lady who is volunteering with a Middle School after school club run by the Boys and Girls Club here that will be taking care of all the Middle School and HIgh School materials.  Thank Goodness!

OK I am going to go have a seat in the back near the stove and warm up.  See you later.

Robby P.

Is there PIE or CAKE????????????  One minute theres some and next none.  STOP PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS!!!!  Dinner

Ah, there's both. Shut up and bury your face into a piece Wink (I'm joking, by the way).

Basketball game tonight at 6 (which is odd, b/c they're pretty much always on Saturdays). Oh well.

We got to paly the older St. John's team, who we almost beat in a scrimmage, and would have beat if the game had been more closely officiated.

Afternoon all.

Had gym today for the first time since November, and I must say, it's not the same. Our new gym teacher is the basketball coach, and he is NUTS. He gave us his rules and made us repeat them. He made us hop like frogs. We spent the first 20 mins of the period (out of only 40) warming up and stretching, and the second half playing knock out. I really hope it's only temporary. It's just not the same anymore...

Afternoon Gang: Page 69 was spread out as wide as the Mississippi. I think that it was Rayn's post with all the pictures. If I eat all that food my waist will be that wide for sure.

Not mush going on here. The weather is cooler, about 44f right now with misting. I spent about an hour out at the corral filling water troughs because it's supposed to freeze the next couple of days. While I had the troughs filling I took a walk around north of the barn. I found the remains of two deer. I guess the coyotes or dogs got them. We have a large population of deer this year. It's getting too built up to allow hunting so there is going to be a problem soon.

Well I'm going to get busy on something. I don't know what but something. Maybe a nape to keep my ROF status.

Happy Birthday Dick.Happy B-Day

See you all later.

Afternoon all, took the day off still burned out from the weekend.

Ryan, that ham looks deliscious!!! Wish I could get it up here.  Mail order I quess.

Jeff, glad your Drs visit went well.

Well, Mom is on her way home today.  Should be scheduled for Chemo this week.  Won't make the cancer go away but slow it down a bit. Maybe Mom will be around a little longer.  Dad is still fighting the pneumonia. His prognosis is not so good with the Pancreatic cancer.  It sounds more like his care will eventually be a matter of comfort and  pain relief.  We will see.

Chloe, What do you recommend with the ham?  I don't wan to ruin that fine southern cooking with some northern mess.  A slice of pecan pie with some of that homemade vanillia ice cream! Thanks!

Going to look for some replacement trucks for those grain cars.  Have to watch the funds, going to San Antonio in .....3 weeks!?, already?

Mom's on the phone!  Later, Eric

Well its lunch time.  I will start with the chicken fingers, and fries.  With a sweet tea.

I haven't done much other than clean up around the house.  I still haven't made it into the basement either.

I can say my car "The Rock" just sold.  Its going to Norway.  Kinda sad to see it go, I really liked the car.  I guess I will have to do another one for myself.

I am still trying to catch up with the pages.  I am glad to see I am not the only one behind.

Morning folks!

Hot coffee and a Cherry Danish for me please, Chloe.

Had a culinary filled weekend, made up a batch of Crawfish Monique on Saturday. Then on Sunday made up a batch of French Toast for breakfast, Pan Sauteed Sea Scallops for lunch, then we made a batch of homemade Butter Pecan Ice Cream for the afternoon, and then ate left over Crawfish for dinner and then for dessert had some Bananas Foster with the homemade ice cream.

Layout Update:  Added some L-girder benchwork for some extra support to the sub-roadbed plywood curved section that traverses over the stairs area for the upper deck.

Watched the movie Bella yesterday, it has some really good messages in that movie, and makes you tear up and cry three or four times. I'm an old softy at heart, seems like I get softer the older I get too. Some movies that I have seen years ago and did not cry make me cry now. Blush Really a must see movie if you have not already.

Now catching up from page 57....good thing I got my reading glasses today. The Diner Hemmingway Writers Guild keeps me reading....and err......writting too!

ewl01

The Drs. want to send Mom home for the time being.  Not much else can be done in the Hospital.  They said she would be better off at home for now.  After all the hospital is full of sick people, wouldn't want her to catch anything!  Her strength is better so we will see what is next.

Eric, sorry about your dad too! Hope both he and your mom heal up real soon. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Eric!

Jim, 30% off is 30% off and that is a good deal, at that price the LHS is only making 10% with that kind of mark down.

Robby P.

Looks like I am a page and a half behind.  I will have to catch up again.

Welcome to the ketchup club! Only a page and a half? I'm still 7 + pages behind and started out about 12 + pages behind this morning....

Tom reported getting rain in his area. It's nice to get the life support ingredient when it seems hard to get eh Tom!. Drought stayed in our area for about a year between 2007 and 2008, and now we seem to have more wet days than dry.

Well, do you all think one of these days that Shelley and I should take down the Christmas tree. Should we wait until February? ...... That would require boxing up the Lionel trains until next Christmas time.

No Garry, just re-decorate it with Valentines RED and keep it thorough next month! On and where did you find that great snap shot of PC? I thought it got tossed out years ago.... Laugh

Jerry, Farmer Brown's going to have to install a hurricane fence with barb wire to keep those truants off the grounds...if someone gets hurt insurance might not cover it...Whistling

Paul, sorry about your friends wife and hope that Mary Ann gets to feeling better real soon! Thoughts and prayers for both!

HEADS UP!

(This happened on one of my other computers, not this one.)

I just went to my Photobucket account and was almost intantly attacked with a fake virus protection program called A360 that automatically downloaded itself and some nasty stuff onto my computer.  Almost 100 Trojans were included in this "special" download.  It bypassed my firewall and my virus protection.  This thing is UGLY!  I'm running scans now, but I don't think it's going to see them.  I found the file in my Program files on the C drive, but it won't let me delete it, move it, or do anything to it.  A virus scan on it directly says that theres nothing there, yet it's right there in front of me.

Proceed to photobucket with EXTREME caution!

PC, I have seen this happen before with PBucket, I thought they would have fix that by now!  Thanks for the heads up!

Oh, and for MUG shots, here is a recent one of me at the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad

Der John, nice pics from the snow regions there, thanks for posting! Oh, and I like that flat bed load. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Robby, we still have the old SEGA Genesis system, we fire it up sometimes and will play Sonic the Hedgehog game with the kids.

Ahhhhh....Robby if we wanted photos of UFO's in action that would fit....oh maybe that's how you look after some weathering...I get it now!

Robby P.

I hope they check there weapons!!!!!

Here's  one of me a year or so ago. Everything on me is the same, the workbench well........its a mess.

Oh OK, you should have put the BEFORE photo first....

Happy Birthday Dick! Happy B-Day

GMT, train show sounds like a lot of fun and another set of good deals too. Last year I told myself I'd like to attend that one, but the other half has too much work this time of year with closing year-end books and all, and me going alone don't seem like an option either.

Todd, 7-Layer Salad sounds good! Yummy...Dinner

Wow, finally cought up to page 69...

Nice picture! Is that a pic from your area?  Also, since I am a novice rail fan at best, what's the road?

That was taken behind the Museum of West Louisiana in Leesville. The locomotive is a KCS SD50 that's Ex-Conrail 6782.

Came through the physical with flying colors. I go back for another one in March.

Jeff...Glad to her the physical went well.

I like the KCS photo. I suggest that model railoraders look closely at the track to see the only shiney part is the top of the rail. Those modeling their track could look at that picture to try to make their track look the same.

I have a lot of sorting to do today and a couple of trips hopefully to schools to return some of the Art and Poetry entries that have been occupying my dining room for the last week.  I have everything sorted by school, now I need to sort by teacher to make it easier for the secretaries to get it back to the teachers.

Ray, I hear you on the stacks of papers! Back when I taught elementary art, I would on weekends use the DR table for sorting out the artw**k in my process of grading them. Luckily, I would only have 20 to 30 students in a class whose papers I had to grade at one time. Get done with that class and write their grades in my book, and stack that class up and then on to the next class' worth.

Garry, love those pics of the lake areas there. I may put your area on my list for next summer's possible vacation. Might even take more time off than I usually do (more than a week at a time, that is).

Jerry, hope you can get back to the layout soon.

Back to my breakfast for now. Dinner

Chloe I'll have my usual mug of dark roast coffee and a couple sour cream donuts to dunk.

I have been enjoying all the mug shots.  I think there must be a virtual police station that now has a bare wall..............

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have some of that 'breakfast pie' that Todd has, but hold the peppers, please. Oh yes, and some of Ed's OJ, a glass of milk and a mug of the TH. Thanks!

Been a busy night for the cook, judging from all the pie tins and cake pans in the dishwashing tank that he was toweling dry (perhaps in preparation for the next batch?). Glad I didn't have the TOP honors last night, virtual or not!Shock

Good to see the photos of the other Diners, and Garry, I vote for yours as having the nicest background so far (which is not the same as saying your photo was the prettiest...Whistling).

Inch, how have you and yours been doing? You might go ahead and fill us in - after all, Garry said the chapel car's still parked on the siding next to the Diner, just waiting to be used.

Cloudy here in Cape G. again, temp of 22 F and windchill of 13 F, with most of this area (Cape G. and northward, at least) under a winter storm warning for this evening. South of us is supposed to get freezing rain, so Garry - watch out! Our area and north a bit are predicting snow and slush, 1 to 3 inches of 'something' (weatherguessers can hedge their bets too, I see), maybe as much as 5 to 10 inches depending on how it decides to come down tonight.

We have our annual (neverending?) state auditors here today. It'd be ironic if they got snowed in here and couldn't get back to Jeff City. Hmmm, might discourage them from too many extra trips here... (Nah, never happen!).EvilSmile,Wink, & Grin

Last night I was going to put on the cornice for the Walthers warehouse I've been working on, and I found out the columns weren't lined up properly. Banged Head So, I took things apart (some of it intentionally, some came apart as I was trying to remove the columns from the front of the wall joints). Sigh Yeah, I'll need to do a major weathering job on this one to hide my boo-boos. Ah, well. Live and learn (I hope I learn something out of this).

Got an email from daughter last night, and we're looking at doing our 'Christmas' gift exchange on Thursday, if everyone gets well by then. SIL Andy got sent home from w**k with sinusitis and bronchitis, grandson Drew has had a cold (which his mother caught) and now has an ear problem/infection. And Andy's a nurse! I told daughter that I hoped that GS Drew wasn't like she was about ear drops (I had to hold her down while her mother put ear drops in her ear, and from daughter's hollering you'd have thought we were pouring acid or boiling oil into her ear...Shock). Gave Sarah my photo order from Drew's 9-month old photo session. His hair looks a bunch redder than I recall him looking the last time I was over there. (Closer to his grandmother's hair when she was younger)

Oh yeah, the woman I've been emailing (in the KC area) has recently found out her job (and the rest of the 50 percent being laid off from her prison ministry) runs out in early Feb., so she's getting her resume out. I found out she has a doctorate in Christian counseling (didn't know that), but doesn't have the state licensure, so she'd be looking for something more church-related (I'm guessing there). She said she has some 'roots' in the San Antonio area, and would like to move there (or someplace warmer - I'm sure none of you Diners ever thought about that...)Wink She does have some private clients she's been seeing, so it's not an immediate, have-to-find-the-new-job-today kind of thing (yet).

I'll be sitting in the window booth and munching on my breakfast for a bit.

Blessings and healing prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Garry-Heartland; Nice views!

I plan on a vacation with friends up on Oxtongue Lake near Algonquin Park in the summer---They have a cottage/home there so it will be less money than trying to go out west like we usually do.---

And why do these pages want to go to the opposite end of the continent?

Hi Guys.

<snap> <snap> Waitress! Bring me a tall mug of Hawaiian Kona Hazelnut coffee Please!

I dropped off a LARGE SHEET CAKE with lots of buttercream frosting on it at the back door so there is MORE CAKE!

Pipes froze again. Not supposed to be much above 20* this week. I CANNOT wait for spring thaw or spring to get here!

All you in warmer climes, I am jealous for once.

WE have been looking at {drooling really} Hawaiian vacations. WE'd really like to go back again now especially. BUT, $$$, or lack thereof has impeeded our desires. Those of you who have funds can get a decent 5-7 day trip to Hawaii for around $1,500- $2K including air from NY, hotel and car rental, and even some expenses if you know where to look. If we had it, we'd be outta here. Maybe next year if we are diligent savers.

It is so cold even my model trainmen don't want to run the trains.

Have a great day.

Good morning to all, and thank you all for the great birthday party in the Diner. Sue, your cake was "the" best, you are some cook young lady !!!!

A balmy 16F here this morning but to our north in Presque Isle, Maine.......-40F and it is also -40C, yup, this is where the two are the same on the temperature scale.

To set the record straight TODAY is my BD, I turned 70 officially at 1:15am.  No MRR stuff for my BD though, in fact, I didn't even get to West Springfield to the big model RR show, SOB ! Things are tight as we all are experiencing.

Work continues in the new train room/s today, as the winter project to redo the wife's Den is now complete. Is there EVER a bottom to the HD jar??

To all of you who live in Midwest, I certainly hope you don't have the terrible storm damage that is being predicted from the icing that is forecasted for your area today and tomorrow. We experienced that here in early December, and it is a bad scene.

Late guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good Morning.............

I'll have DONUTS (Changed the subject from pies) with coffee please.

Inch ... Good to see the pix with the crew. We recall your visit last summer. Feel free to repeat.

Everybody else....... Planning a vacation? ... You're welcome here. Inch got the layout tour last summer (my layout, Gus's IC RR layout, and Dan's UP RR layout) plus he saw the sights.

Here are some websites. The state resort park is 15 minutes from here. Land Between the Lakes is just across the bridge from here.

Here's the view from the house.

Only negative is there are real no trains nearby, but you can see barges such as these barge tows passing each other. Lake Barkley is man-made with a dam on the Cumberland River.

These Civil War cannons were part of the Confederate military that once guarded the Coumberland River. There are at the TN/KY border near here.

The dinner train and the KY Ry museum are about 3 hours east of here near Abe Lincoln's birth place. Mammouth Cave National park is between here and there.

Don't forget: We have "Bait Shop Pizza" conveniently located across the rad from here.

Inch- Good to see you. I was just about to ask about your whereabouts. Did I miss something? I didn’t catch you were ill. Hope you’re up and moving soon. Angel

I tell you what, I’m gonna have to start writing down the page I left off on. Hard for this hick to remember.Confused

Robby- Apparently there a some people who take great pleasure in toying with a persons emotions. I, …Approve..am not one of them. So trust me when I say there is plenty of pie Big Smile. But there seems to be a worldwide shortage of CAKE! Mischief

With that I shall bid my addoo, adeau, addyoo, aydoo, Take my leave for the while. Bookwork for the church awaits.

 @Jeff:

Nice picture! Is that a pic from your area?  Also, since I am a novice rail fan at best, what's the road?

 @Robby P:

I cannot speak for the weather on your end of PA, but over here (SE of Harrisburg), the past 3 'winter storms' have produced a whopping 1/10th inch of sleet.  However, we got 1.5" of perfect sledding fluff on a day that called for 'Flurries with no accumulation'

.... so I am not trusting the weather Guessers at all any more :)

Of course, this is only me second winter in PA.
