My prayers go to you Jeffery.
Anyways, up here in Maryland, It was in the Low 80's today, great sunshine, and you know what that means! RAILFANING DAY!! So i went with my parents for the first to the CSX Jessup Yard.
heres the many pics.
I know Alot of Pictures, not alot action at the yard today, but some switching, of autoracks, the switcher, was a SD70ac(SD70mac) I couldn't get a good picture, it was to far the line.
I'll be going back there, It was very cool, and Alot of cool stuff. Now What I find weird Is that since i like conrail, I'm getting into CSX now...

tjsingle ... thanks for the railfan pix. I feel sorry for the caboose though.
Jeff ... Prayers to you and others in your state and the affected gulf area.
The grandkids were here and we all went into Land-Between-The-Lakes national park next to us. We treated them for a vist to the nature Station and they saw lots of live local animals: bobcat, coyotes, owls, an eagle, a vulture, an assorment of venomous and nonvenomous snakes, turtles, etc., etc., etc,........ . Later, they grandkids wanted pancakes for supper. It's grnadpa's job to make pancakes. While I was doing that the four-year-old reached up suddenly and put her hand. She got quite burn, and we heard it. I feel badly becuase I was in charge at the time.
Have a nice Labor Day. Cheers

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
No thank you, I'll be railfaning there more now, It was my first time today, but I'm not sure how close to the tracks I can get.
***Tjsingle, That caboose is in desperate need of a repaint.
***Garry, that's a bummer about the little ones burned hand. On the upside, she may well remember such a harsh lesson. Hope her burn doesn't hurt to bad and heals quickly.
Here are a couple pics of my deck project (infront of my "painting porch" I built previously. Need to get some more screws to finish the little "bridge" that connects deck to sidewalk. Then I can trim up the trek-deck edges. Rest of the deck will be wood.
Going to go rest now. I'm beat tonight and have much to do tomorrow. At least there are no hurricanes about to hit. Sure makes one appreciate what they have to be thankful for.
Rob
Hey TJ: How 'bout an asperiment. What would CSX say if you showed up wither a couple cans of intermediate blue and some REALLY big decals to clean that caboose up for them?

They would be some happy clams is my bet.
This is really weird I now have a interest in CSX, and now That conrail is gone, they are my 1st favorite operating rr. Conrail is kinda dead but still Shared assests, but is not the same.
Evening Gang: I cleaned out the corral this morning. It took about an hour but it would have been longer if I hadn't had the grapple on the loader. That thing is the best money I ever spent.
Jeff take care.
Garry I hope that the youngan didn't get burned too bad.
Packer I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. My condolences to his family and you.
Mitch I'm happy to hear that your mom is doing better. I hope that she can get into her hospital soon and get better and home.
Well I guess I'll head for bed.
Good Night All
Wow,Jeff,
Please take care, my daughter and I are waching the Weather channel and it does look like it's not going to be nice. Do you have a latest radar pic of it's path??
Let's all pray for not only Jeff, but all of our MRXRding diner friends that are down in that area.
Good Morning from Tipton IN !

Good morning.
happy labor day to all.
Jeff: Safe travels.
Stay safe to our Southern and Gulf Model railroaders. I know Packer (the other one) is a bit nervous about it too.
Packers: Too tired to writwe long post, but my6 prayers for your friend's family, and you. I'll bet this hurts a biit more than your letting on.
I'm gonna re-read the last page or so and have a glass of milk.
Good morning!
Happy Labor Day! May your pleasures be many, your labors be few!
Jeffrey- stay safe
And to others in the wake- stay safe!
Will be a pretty day today here- may go to Steamtown!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Morning all!
Not much going on here weather-wise.
Today: Sunny, hot & more humid - High: 90
Tonight: Mostly clear and warm - Low: 67
I'll have some vacation pics up later today for you all to enjoy.
Also, I took some scenery photo's that would work real well for eastern United States backdrops. I got a bunch when the weather was a bit overcast, and then a few sunny ones too. They're pretty good size and real genaric, so if anyone wants them you can PM me with your email address and I'll zip them over to you.
Jeff, it looks like you're in for a touch of weather. Seems it's heading right for you. I've added you and yours to my prayer list. Be safe, OK? I've been through a few of these things, some pretty bad ones too, and they can really pack a whollop. If that eye passes over you, as I think it will, use that time to go out and assess your saftey and make quick repairs and adjustments. Just don't take long. You'll only have a few minutes. Keep your eye on the sky as it will turn quick. I know, they say not to do that, but if you aren't stupid about it then you'll be fine.......just don't be stupid about it! The back side of the storm shouldn't be as bad for you as those clouds will have been over land for some time as they rotate back around to you. That will take a lot of the sting out of them.
Well, I'll catch you later. Bye!

Good morning, bright and sunny here in New England, not a cloud in sight, 70F, low humidity and a slight breeze from the NW. Got some painting to do today with these conditions being just perfect.
JOHNBOY: You may be correct in saying that maybe the EAST regions will have an early Fall/Winter. We will soon find out seeing today is September 1st.
CJ JIM: No, the perfect storm never hit us, it was more of an ocean storm off the coast, the result of a hurricane out to see, a strong LOW and a front moving down from the NW. All three combined to make a "perfect" meteorlogical condition for one big storm with waves over 100 feet in height. We live 50 miles INLAND from Boston, almost due west of Boston, about three miles north of the Mass Pike (I-90). The worst hurricane to hit NE was the hurricane of 1938. Hurricane Diane hit us in 1955 and caused massive flooding. The last hurricane to hit NE was hurricane Bob in 1990, but that was mostly a Cape Cod storm, no damage inland.
SAWYER: A cold this time of the year is due to NOT ENOUGH SLEEP young man!!! You need 8 hours sleep a night MINIMUM!! Listen to grampa and get some sleep, never mind text messaging the girls at midnight or 1am!!
JEFF: Cover up your layout Jeff, winds are going to be your trouble with those pine trees overhead.
See you guys at lunch

Jeff, you batten down the hatches good, OK?
Well, as promised, here's a couple of pics of our accomodations for the last week. My wifes Aunt and Uncle own it (we all get along real good). It's pretty nice, and it comes with two jet ski's like the one pictured, and a fishing boat also. (Click to enlarge any of these pics)
And lest you think the inside is rather sparten, here's the living room (Yes, thats the wife) and kitchen (all looking quite "lived" in).
Truely, a great time was had by all!
This is one of two photos I snapped before leaving my trailer this morning. The other one can be found in WPF.
hey guys.
I was messing around with my mom's camera cause the old one she gave me got wet. I took these night shots last night enjoy.
I don't think so but then again they did stand up against the winter had up here. they will keep you out of the wind and rain but wind above 110 you might want to find better housing.
The storm front just entered Vernon parish.
Radar map
Strong up of coffee, please & thanks.
Shouldn't have played on ebay the other night. Picked up a second Intermountain Santa Fe Bluebonnet F7, so my first one wouldn't get lonely. I know, pretty lame reason.
Made a new shoe for Tinytoons (mini dwarf horse) and with the wife's help, got her hoof cleaned up and the new shoe glued on. Perfect fit.
The Inlaws were out today to view the house progress. Wife got a little teary-eyed helping her dad walk around, but hid it from him well. I know it's tough on her to see him like this. Anyway, all went well.
Trying to rest up today (if that is possible) so I can get back to work on the deck tomorrow.
Healing thoughts to those in need. Crossing my fingers for Jeffrey's home & trains, too.
Howdy...
Rob ... F7's were really a great locomotive. There still are some real ones out there.
Packers... sorry someone got out of line but glad the report abuse button worked.
Colby .... Nice night time pix!
No word from Jeff in six hours. Looks like that storm is giving his locations lots of rain. No need to water the grass.
Happy Model railroading.

Afternoon/evening, Diners - Chloe, were those storm shutters you had added alongside the side windows? Oh, you just pivot them around and lock 'em down huh? I sure hope that Gustav doesn't make it this far inland! (Nah...)
Oh yeah, I'll have a root beer float and some turtle soup, if Ryan made any yesterday. You do? Great! Thanks.
TJ, nice photos from the CSX yard! (glad I'm not on dial-up...) We have some other CSX fans in the Diner, so you have company. That caboose did really get tagged. The RR might just take you up on doing the re-lettering of it!
PC, welcome back from vacation - now all you have to do is get rested up from vacation, right? That boat doesn't look too 'spartan' to me - looks pretty nice. Sure pays to have good relations with the relatives, doesn't it?
Sawyer, remember to get rested up sufficiently, with those practices and all taking your energy out of you.
Colby, nice night shots there!
Paul, must not have been as busy of a day (tiring) for you, with that grapple helping some. Rest easy tonight.
Garry, hope your 4-year-old heals up quickly - did she need any medical attention, or was it just bad enough to scare her from reaching near a stove again for a long while? Hopefully it'll heal up and just be a less painful lesson than some she could've had. Whew!
Jeff, I was watching the weather channel today when I was at our singles lunch/dinner party, and it looked like Gustav might not have been as bad as they were expecting, but still was packing a punch. Head for the bunker, friend! Maybe you can take the lantern and some MR issues with you.
Dick, good to hear you're that far inland - being where you are, it'd take one doozy of a storm to give you much more than lots-o'-rain (and possible flooding). I'm guessing your weather problems are usually more along the lines of wintertime.
Our weather was hot today (it was still 89 F with 57 percent humidity currently. Our local weatherguessers this morning were saying to expect higher humidty, with possible rains on Thursday/Friday.
Rob, you might want to be careful later in the week, if the models for Hannah turn out correct - they're saying by next Friday she may hit the SC coast and head up toward Indiana and Ohio by Saturday. But by the time Hannah reaches PC's neck o' the woods, the winds will be long gone (less than 40 mph).
Oh, Rob? I never knew that an excuse was needed when buying a Santa Fe Bluebonnet! Congratulations on your new acquisition. So how big will your enginehouse need to be, now? And nice work on your deck leading to the sidewalk - that'll come in handy when you need to wheel the handtruck in with all your LHS purchases in a few months, huh?
Our attendance was a bit light for the singles Labor Day lunch thing - all guys, too. So I ended up taking home some burgers and buns with me (besides the rest of my jello-n-peaches). We watched "For Richer or Poorer" (Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley) - funny! - and I played three games of pool and a few rounds of darts (lost all the pool games, sort of won at the darts, though we didn't keep score on that).
Didn't get quite as much done on MRR'ing done this weekend as hoped - but got more than I've done the past several weekends. I'm planning on clearing the dining room table when I get back home from the Diner this evening. There are a couple of loose handrails on a diesel or two that I could glue back in place, too.
Prayers for safety, power-back-on-soon, healing, comfort and a good night's rest for all you Diners and families.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
