in a YANKEE mug, please & thanks. Why a Yankee mug? Well, wife and I finally figured out one of the construction workers must have tourette's syndrome. Wife was ready to grab the deer rifle and put the guy out of his misery, until she figured out he probably can't help himself. (at least we hope this is the case) Now we're just laughing about it (and look forward to having the construction completed). Wink [;)]

***Jeffrey, that F7 is a beauty. I love the old beat up look very much. Can only imagine what an accurate sound decoder for it might add..."sputter, cough cough, groan, squeel squeel..." Thumbs Up [tup]

HI guys!

I'm "buying" all day on the 28th- but heres what I'm offeringWink [;)]:

A "togo" container with your choice: from the grill- chicken, eye round steak, porkchops, or a T-bone steak, burgers, all along with some potato salad, coleslaw, fresh tomato slices and corn on the cob.Cool [8D]Dinner [dinner]

I've been grilling up a storm. I've taken to grilling a lot at once so I can freeze them with that special grilled taste and then just thaw, heat and eat. While we still have some grilling months ahead, I just tired of draging out the grill, and cleaning it after every use. I will, however, make sure as winter comes along, that I have plenty of grilled stuff in the freezer to heat and eat through most of the winter. Grilling in the winter is a pain in the tender's coal bin.Banged Head [banghead]

Oh, and the T-bones. Well Sweeny's market here has 5 days of customer appreciation days with T-bone (about a pound each) 3-packs for $4.48/lb! Couldn't pass that up! And ground beef in the 10 lb pack weighs in at just $1.48/lb! Whole boneless chicken breasts at $1.48/lb! Having to buy a lot of all then and load up the caboose! Thank the firebox grate gods for freezers! Quick! Somebody stop me!!!!

*whew*Sigh [sigh]

Evening Gang: The post hole got dug, the post got set, the wire got stretched, the gate got hung and I'm bushed. My son John came to the house so he got his tractor with a loader and came down to where I was trying to dig the post hole. While I ran the post hole digger he put his loader bucket on the digger arm and pressed down. That gave the auger the weight to dig in and we finished the hole in a couple of minutes. The only problem with that method is it takes two of everything.

Right now its raining up a storm. There was nothing predicted that I heard about it just came up from the southeast. I'm not complaining as we still need it.

Rob it's good that you have gotton some rain. The animals sure appreciate it.

Garry I am sure that those buzzards are sitting somewhere and laughing at us. I'm just glade that there wasn't anything sown there like a dead calf. At first we thought that a cow may have had a calf. Buzzards will hang arounf to get some of the afterbirth.

I got the couplers installed in the flat car. The next step is to sandblast the spots that I welded and paint the frame. Then add a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and nail down the decking. HO is much easier but this is so neat when you can ride on it.

Well I think that I'll hit the hay. I know that it's early but I'm tired.

Good Night All

Good Evening !

I had a tooth bothering me so I went to the dentist yesterday and guess what? Root Canal!! As the dentist said after he loked at the X-ray, Well let's get started. Turned out to be a painless procedure but it did take a while and he couldn't finish so back at it on Friday. I'm on penicillin for the infection and while he prescribed pain killers, luckily I haven't needed any.

Fergie, That is a beautiful piece of brass you have there but I couldn't tell what road that Santa Fe belongs to and I'm curious so please enlighten me.

Jeff, you certainly don't fool around when you decide to make a change to your layout. It takes me ages to get things done but I can't to get more than an hour at a time on it except for Sunday mornings.

Tom, hope your leg is feeling better. Sounds like you'll need an eye patch, a tricorn hat and a parrot to complete your "look" .

Not much new here, just the same old daily routine of work, home, errands, sleep.

Aaagh! Again, Panera's WiFi's quest for security has torpedoed my post! Banged Head [banghead]

Today has not gone as well as I'd have liked... Got the DVD+/-RW drive in today, put it in the drive bay, installed the patch utility, and my PowerBook recognized it, but when I went to burn to it, it would only get partway through and die on me. Tried 3 times - two CD-R's (one from iTunes, one from the Finder) and one DVD-R, same #$%* results on all three times, and the second CD-R attempt was at only 8X (the 'more reliable' speed, according to the Finder). Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead] Sent a note to the seller on the 'Bay, suggesting he didn't test it well enough. This model of drive has worked fine for other Mac users with my model of laptop, so it's not bloody likely the drive is totally incompatible.Angry [:(!]Grumpy [|(]

Chloe, how about one of Galaxy's steaks with some corn on the cob, a salad on the side, and a glass of wine, please? Thanks.

Tall glass of lemon water, please & thanks.

***Paul, I usually just stand on the post hole digger arm and press against the rollbar. Sounds like your way is much faster and safer too.

***CN Charlie, glad to hear your tooth trouble isn't a bad one.

***Jim, bummer about that drive. Dang!

Wife keeps talking about her garden RR. Asked if O Gauge would work. I assume LGB is the only way to go out-of-doors, correct? She even dragged me to a couple nurserys to look at plants. Now, where does one find a garden RR steam loco with smoke & sounds for cheap?

Good Morning, Zoe. My apologies to Chloe and you Diners for the rant last night. After I got back home, I tried swapping that burner into another drive bay I had, and while I had some problems, it was able (as far as I could tell) to burn two of three DVDs okay (the last 2 of the 3). So maybe it will be working - I'll try with some CD-R's this weekend and see.

Oh, Zoe, I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, cup of coffee and some of Bill T.'s buffet, please. Thanks!

Supposed to be hot and more humid today - about 94 percent humidity at the moment, and 65 F, but predicted to reach the low 90's today. Regular August weather around here.

Galaxy, I'll have to think about my favorite station (and find a pic of what it looks like to post).

I'll be with Terry in the back booth, talking weather. Terry, do you have someone to help you get that boat loaded up to move (and to unload)? Don't take on more than what you're able to right now.

Prayers for those in need of healing and comfort.

Good morning All...Its sunny and hot and humid here this morning..O'l Arthur tells me gotta have some rain headed this way...No breakfast for me but Galaxy put me down for a T-bone,corn on the cob and a big plate of those sliced tomatoes please..Thank You...

I am in a better mood I finaly got the problem with my LL SW 8 figured out with help from a feller over on the Atlas Forum...The front truck had picked up a grain of ballast in gears..got it out and ran it in both directions for about an hour and its running great again..Thats a problem I never had in HO!!...

Jeff...Nice weathering job on the F unit..Gotta love those old covered Wagons...looks like its been working hard for about a 1,000,000 miles...

Paul...Your buzzards may be related to the ones we have here in town..They built a new cell tower just north of us and 6 or 7 buzzards stay on it most of the time...Guess they get better reception on their cell phones..LOL....

Fergie..Thats one nice looking engine and looks like it could pull the paper off the wall..

refill, please & thanks. (so much for kicking the caffeine addiction)

***Jerry, glad you were able to solve the problem with the SW-8.Thumbs Up [tup] Ballast is something I'm not thrilled about tackling when the time comes, but sure is necessary for effect. Wouldn't want a grain of ballast to visit one of my locos either.

Went to replace the original couplers on the wife's LL circus car, only to discover the pin size is too large for the replacement LL knuckle couplers. That was after removing globs of glue from a previous owner. Will have to get out a box cutter and carefully shave it down I suppose.

Wife is off picking up a few more plants to replace the hedge that got cooked by the fire. I just hope the goats don't get out and find the new planting.

Well, better get back to work on that front deck. Have a good day all.

Hi Gang: Today is the #2 grand daughters birthday. She is 3 yrs old. We took her to her pre school this morning for the orientation. She wouldn't let go of my hand for the longest time. She finally found a drawing board and I was able to slip away.

Rob for outdoors the LGB is the way to go. The track is practicly indestructable and the locos hakdle the dirt and oxidation on the track well. It's very reliable stuff. For inexpensive equipment I really can't say where to go. E-bay I guess. I myself don't mess with E-bay but you do.

Well I'd better go. I don't know what is planned for tonight. No one tells me anything I'm supposed to read there minds.

See you all later.

Good Evening, Chloe, Zoe - I see you haven't changed the shift yet. I'll have one of Galaxy's grill specials, please. Yep, the chicken one for tonight; oh yeah, and a root beer float. I got a bit busy this afternoon and couldn't get by the Diner. Thanks!

Paul, good thing they had that drawing board, or you'd have been at school still, huh? Wink [;)] Hopefully you'll find out about the plans for tonight - maybe even a half hour ahead of time. Whistling [:-^]

Rob, I didn't know they had 'inexpensive' garden scale RR stuff (unless you compare it to Paul's larger-yet scale stuff, that is. Shock [:O]Wink [;)] Good luck on that one!

Sawyer, drink those fluids, if your weather there was as warm and sticky as ours was this afternoon. It felt like August, by golly! Best wishes on good practices and on the jamboree. Thumbs Up [tup]

Jerry, I'm a somewhat happier camper today on the drive for the laptop. Got an email back from the seller, and he's sending another drive out. Now, if this drive - which had been doing better some of the time - decides to 'heal itself', I might end up with two working drives. If I got the parts to get that other (non-working now) laptop running, I could upgrade it and have two good laptops... Yeah!! [yeah] But I'm glad for now that the seller is working with me on making sure the drive works. If it ends up with both drives working eventually, I'll probably send him another money order for the second one.

Terry, I would second Rob's suggestion - don't overdo, okay?

I'm on-call tonight (hoping for a very 'dull' evening), and tomorrow is Friday (YAY!!!) and a long weekend. Big Smile [:D] Got my dinner and I'm just chillin' at a local WiFi spot until either the pager goes off, my laptop's battery goes down, or it's time to head home and try to get some nap time.

I'll be working on my chicken in the window booth for now. Thumbs Up [tup]

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I need some coupler conversion help or perhaps entire truck & coupler replacement for the wife's latest addition. Here is a link to two pics of what the vintage car comes with. I need to transform this to work with the newer style knuckle couplers??? Thanks for any help.
