Howdy everyone .......
JR ... I was very sorry to learn you lost a good friend. Also, too bad about the Lotus crash.
Mitch ... Has the "suspicious patron" tired to return yet? i don't know what gets into some people.
PC ..... Now when I mail a package, I am always aske "Is there anything perishable, liquid, ore potentially hazardous"? Were you honest in answering or were you not asked or waht regarding the "care package" to Jeff.
Jeff .... Speaking of you. I hope you have a good doctor report. Whose birthday?
Rob ... take care of the Mrs. and her bronchitis. That's not good to have.
Tom ........ How close are you to Sacramento? I like the museum there........ Also, forgive me for getting out the soapbox stuff. It just seems that the politicians are too busy raising school taxes with no justification.
Jim CG .... You mentioned the tragic death of a 5 year old girl. Very sad. This is beside the point, but the location, Franklin, TN is the place where there's a neat trains store called Southbound Trains.
Happy Model Railroading

***Jerry, nice looking Sw8. Just one question, how do you keep miniature tornadoes from hitting that trailer park? (we kid around here that during tornado outbreaks, manufactured homes seem to have targets on them)
Had a seat in the barn isle this evening and enjoyed a short, heavy rain producing thunderstorm. Little Tinytoons kept coming up for withers rubs.

Evening Gang: I hate to say it but I'm pooped. I went over to the creek to clean out the crossing. First I had to trim a bunch of brush from hanging over the edge of the cut down to the creek. The gas pole trimmer kept throwing the chain. The first time I didn't have the toold to fix it so back to the barn I went. I put the chain back on and took the tool box with me this time. I got the brush trimmed ( quite a bit of it was poison ivy ). I used the new tractor to scrap the cuttings out of the cut and push them into a pile for disposal later. I made the first digging run and the air cleaner warning light came on. It went off and I made another dig again the light came on. A third dig and it was dimming and coming on so I said enough is enough. This had happened before and the dealer said to bring it in so off to town I went. It turned out that the back of the sensor had come loose and was not making constant contact. Went back to the creek and finished up in about an hour. I still have to do the other side but I need the tractor with the grapple for it. There is alot more brush over there that needs to be trimmedback and I don't want to handle it with my hands. Poison Ivy you know. Ranching is Fun. Repeat untill I belive it.
I still haven't heard from ED. Has anyone else?
Jeff hope that the foot heals fast.
JR tough break at Elk Hart. Sorry to hear about your friend.
Well it's early but I think that I'll head for bed. Lowe's is having a sale tomorrow and Mary Ann wants to go early and pick up some things for the house.
Good Night All
Tonight, a young man (oil rig worker) told me he could eat anything, no matter how hot was. I broke out my little bottle that Philip sent me and got a little bit on the end of a toothpick and stirred it into his salsa. He warned him that this stuff could almost eat a hole through the table. On the first chip his eyes widened a little. By the fourth chip he was sweating profusely and after seven chips he couldn't take anymore. He then made a BIG mistake and slugged down a whole glass (24 ounces) of iced tea. He could hardly breath and couldn't speak at all, he just wheezed a little. The poor boy was in such misery, so I ordered a glass of cold milk for him. He drank that more slowly and felt much better. When he got to where he could talk again he was just saying three words. There are, and I quote, "Hot, too hot!". After a little while he became more coherent. He told us that stuff was THE hottest stuff that he had ever tried. This is a guy who likes really spicy food, especially Korean. 'Da Bomb' hot sauce gets four thumbs up from him. Everybody got a real good laugh out of it. I never knew somebody could turn purple.
Good evening...
I do believe the search for an alternative fuel may be approaching some success after all. PC's "da bomb" hot sauce may have some real potential in that regard. I laughed at Jeff's story about serving it to his friend. KY BBQ sauce can get extremely hot. I prefer tasting the meat (usually pulled port) instead of having it overwhelmed with hot sauce.
We were doing the Friday night church stuff again this evening. Now it's time to egt ready for the young family visitors arriving tomorrow. As instructed, I've been getting the Seadoo ready for them. Don't you just love all that "honey do" stuff?
happy Mrr'ing!
Evening folks-coffee for me in my Eeyore mug.
Dawn came home from work awhile ago, ranting & raving something about not getting paid for some beadwork she did, threatening to shut her studio & website down, & went to bed. I was a partial target, still trying to figure what I did wrong I decided it was time to put some classic country on from WSM (streaming) & duck into the diner for awhile!
Anyways, not a bad day at work-got my comp back this evening, & the fellow that fixed things (the fan went out, causing overheating) is not only a former co-worker of mine, but a former co-worker of one of my railfanning buds. (I may have mentioned that earlier this week) Anyways, the fellow that fixed my comp didn't know I knew his co-worker, & told him how he's now a conductor on a local railroad. (he didn't know that-thought that was so cool!)
Garry-no he hasn't came back (at least today) I think he knows he's a "marked" man now. We checked his record in the library system & he owes over $700 in fines & "lost" materials. Not to mention he has a lengthy criminal record (checked thru local records) that includes theft. Anyways, bottom line, he comes back in, we call the PD, & he gets arrested for trespassing as he was told (& letter sent to) that he is barred from the library.
Jeff & Phillip- 1st off, Jeff, take care of your foot! That aside, I'm curious about this hot sauce. When I was in high school, I couldn't even eat ~1~ jalepeno chip, I was that sensitive to "hot" stuff. About 10 years ago, I was seeing a girl that was absolutely impervious to hot. I started building up my tolerance to hot stuff just to keep up with her, & it built up tremendously, eating stuff I couldn't touch just a few years previous like candy. (I still haven't gone as far as she could, & eat habeneros straight out of the jar as her Dad lived down in Harlingen Texas, & would bring them back up here & they would share. (not that gutsy yet!)
Well, better hit it-nice to be driving my "own car" again. Everyone have a good nite, & a safe day tomorrow.
Mornin, just dropped by for an irish coffee and leave a joke for the day.
A couple had two little boys, ages eight and ten, who were excessively mischievous. The two were always getting into trouble and their parents could be confident that if any mischief occurred in their town, their two young sons were involved in some capacity. The parents were at their wit's end as to what to do about their sons' behavior.
The parents had heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children in the past, so they contacted him, and he agreed to give it his best shot. He asked to see the boys individually, so the eight-year-old was sent to meet with him first. The clergyman sat the boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?" The boy made no response, so the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?"Again the boy made no attempt to answer, so the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face, "WHERE IS GOD?" At that, the boy bolted from the room, ran directly home, and slammed himself in his closet. His older brother followed him into the closet and said, "What happened?" The younger brother replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time. God is missing and they think we did it!"

Good morning. It's currently 78 here and extremely cloudy. The high is expected to be in the low 90's. Not much going on today. I'm going to a little neighborhood party later today. Good Morning, Janie - I'll have Bill T.'s breakfast buffet, cup of coffee, and one of those cinnamon rolls, please (got to feed my sweet tooth, y'know...). Thanks!
Inch, that's a good one! Thanks for posting that, and what've you been up to lately - any work on your layout?
Jerry, I like that switcher of yours , and [#ditto] about keep posting those pics!
Paul, you need a vacation from being 'retired', sounds like! Hope you get things sort of caught up today and can put your feet up a spell.
Mitch, maintaining a low profile is a good idea when the woman comes home on the warpath (also saves your neck!). If Dawn's off work today, maybe fix her something she likes or treat her to dinner out (even at fast food), and that may mellow her out a little.
PC, I don't think I'd even want to sniff that bottle of Da Bomb. I recall when I was in junior high (and very ignorant of such stuff), the teacher had his/her back turned, writing something on the board, and the kid in the chair to my left passed me a jalapeno pepper (I didn't know what the thing was) I passed it on the kid to my right, and though nothing of it. Couple of minutes later, my eye got itchy and I rubbed my eye with one finger (on the hand that had transferred the jalapeno to the next desk)(oh, yes, I did... remember, I was very unknowing 'bout such things back then!) I ended up in the nurse's office, and I don't recall for sure now, but might have ended up going home that day. So, I have an aversion to most things spicy.
Jeff, you might want to be careful about sharing Da Bomb with others - the police might be after you for assault with a deadly weapon!
Well, it's Saturday morning, and I have a heap o'laundry that won't do itself. So after I finish my breakfast, I'll be heading out to take care of that. Hope everyone's weather is good today; ours is supposed to be sunny and in the lower 80's by this afternoon. Singles BBQ/crocket/movie/get-together (how do you spell that game?). Might or might not be back in tonight to post.
Blessings and hope you get some MRR'ing in today,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you!
***Jeffrey, perhaps you could repackage that Salsa into "Dose Packs" and sell it to folks who wish to experience and OBE (Out of Body Experience)? As for using it as a fuel sorce, sounds like it has too high an octane for practical combustion engines, so would need to be cut with gasoline.
***Paul, ranching/farming IS fun. Yea, the work never ends and there is always something that comes up which requires your immediete attention. Still, it beats spending your days in an office behind a desk.IMO
Speaking of which, have work to do outside today. See Ya!
Something interesting to share. There is a video clip of it in action at the bottom of the page. All it needs is a Cab & some wheels:

$40 for a hair over 10 gal in the pickup today. Ouch! (wish I could throw out every politician who votes against drilling in our own backyard) Had to make a hay run. Well, more to do outside yet. Seems quiet in here today.

Fortunately, thats a mistake you only make once! Unfortunately, we all make it!
The stuff Jeff now has in his grubby little paws is 1.5 million scoville units of heat. To give you some comparisson, tabasco sauce is a mere 2740 or so scoville units, and a habanero pepper, one of the hottest peppers known to man, is a measly 300,000 scoville units. Da Bomb is actually listed as a skin irritant it packs such a whollop. It really does give a whole new meaning to hot! It's a true heavyweight contender in the ultra hot sauce catagory.
I gave it to two pastor friends of mine who are true hot sauce conisours and they both found the milk quick. Breathing had become labored within moments and they were sweating profusely. One dropped a drop on his leg and in just a few minutes he broke out in a rash even though he wiped it right up with a washcloth. They were both warned beforehand, but they insisted...........
It's "playful" stuff!

I don't get it either, Rob. Congress spent all that money on highways and airports over the years. Meanwhhile, Congress blocked production of domestic oil. Read up on oil shale sometime. Other countries use their oil shale while our Congressmen dilly dally. I don't fall for the grandstanding of oil company execs in Washington either. Congress created the problem and not the oil companies. Also, Congress put passenger trains out of business and repalced them with highways for cars. (Oops, another soapbox. Sorry)
Jeff's serving pizza. Any takers? I'll pass.
Happy Model Railroading.
Afternoon everyone.
Well, there's good news and bad news--the GOOD news is that I was presented with a plaque this morning at Jesuit's graduation ceremonies--a handsome little devil imprinted with the names of every member of my Chamber Choir--all 22 of them. Needless to say, I was too moved to speak--very much, I mean, LOL! Dang, I'm going to miss that place!!
Now for the bad news--the reach from the edge of the table to the Buttes is too FAR, even with a step-ladder. Which means that I have to go over to Lowe's or Home Depot and get one of those 'sleeper-ladder' thingies that have the padded extension so that you can sort of lay on it to work in extended spaces. I think they run about $250 or so. Man, this is getting to be an EXPENSIVE mountain!! But actually, I can use it all over the layout, especially when it comes to continuing my backdrop in the future (yah, plan AHEAD, right?). So it will pay for itself in the long run.
And guess what? Four days ago it was 104, today it's 72 and raining gently, and we've got SNOW in the Sierra. Is this a WEIRD year for weather out here in SunnyCal or not? At least it's dampening that terrible fire in the Santa Cruz mountains. All this and that tornado down in Riverside a couple of days ago--WHEW!
Garry--To answer your question, Carmichael is actually a suburb of Sacramento, a kind of 'bedroom community'. However, we're in Sacramento County, not the city (thank God!). And yes, I agree with you, the State Railroad Museum is an absolute stunner! I've been a member for about ten years or so, my late cousin and his wife were Docents there for years. It's a great place. Only place I know where you can climb into the cab of a gigantic AC-12 4-8-8-2 and look down on the cutest little 1860's 4-2-4 'Bicycle' loco (the "C.P.Huntington") I've ever seen in my life. The place is just chock-full of goodies.
Well, time to get back out to making Fall trees. Boy, I'll tell you, if the Aqua-Net people knew how terrific their 'clear-cement' hair spray was for fixing flock foam to weeds, they'd be setting their displays up in hobby shops all across the country, LOL!

Here's something I saw in Mirco Mark's catalog for reaching over a layout. Perhaps it would work. It may be expensive enough to cost you your next yellowstone. Thanks for telling about Sacramento. I would like to get back to that museum again some day. It's definately much more than the KY Ry Museum. Congrats on the plaque!

Good Evening Diners,
Well the news from the vet was only so-so. Jamie has an enlarged heart which means there is some valve leakage which is causing the cough. Apparently it isn't unusual in a older dog and the fluid build-up can be controlled with drugs but overall it isn't a good sign. I jus hope he makes it through summer as he really enjoys going out on the boat. Maybe it's crazy but one reason why we haven't sold it is that he gets so excited as soon as we pull in to Gimli where we keep it.
Speaking of boat, we had scheduled to launch it tomorrow but I have decided to wait as the forecast is for rain, 15-20 knot winds out of the north and a high of 11C or about 55F. Sounds like a good day to run some trains.
We went out to dinner last night to a really great French restaurant where the chef is French and trained there. It is the same place where my wife took the cooking course during the winter. Some people can take food to the level of art and Chef Bernard is one of them.
Not much new on the RR front except that I did finish a PK2 Mather box car kit I got in the winter. Turned out it was partly assembled so I did have to put on 32 grab irons but still there were some very small parts. I also picked up a Trains special magazine called Steam Today which has some great articles for those of us addicted to locos that smoke and belch steam.
Well, it's coffee time so I think I'll just sit back in a corner booth and read my magazine.
CN Charlie
Good evening gang. I'll have a JR Regular please, and some of that sugar free trifle in the back of the fridge, Zoe. Well, the rain held off enough for us to get some meaningful gardening done today, and for me to get a walk in after dinner. (Left over on purpose lobster tail and claw from the night before, with potato salad, garden salad, guacamole, salsa and sour cream...)
JR: Sorry to hear about Dick Shubar. I was at a funeral in the week. A 67 year old lady who had just started to come to our Heritage Society, a cancer survivor, died suddenly jut a few days after our May meeting. It's always a shock.
Rob: Hope your wife's bronchitis is on the mend.
I would like to request "more layout & train photos" please!
I mention government work only because, 1) I got my tax refund cheque this week, and 2) I spent several hours this evening filling an on-line passport application for myself and Kris. There were "printer issues" and you can't use the Back button.....
BridgeTom:
Weatherwise, this has not turned out to be a very great Spring for ANYBODY!
Gas this week in Sheet Harbour is $5.06 a US gallon., just a reality check. For another kind of reality try European gas prices. I'm told it's close to twice that! Any comments Gav?
On domestic oil, forget shale, there's a sea of light sweet crude about to become available in your northern tier. Saskachewan has our share of it, and is producing already. I'm not sure of production costs, but somewhere around $20 I heard some place.

Evening Gang: It's unusually late for me. We worked on the house untill almost 6pm and then John and I went over to the track. The third Sat of the month is a run day so we ran some. Actually some others did the running and we rode. We cooked up some brats, hot dogs, and burgers on the grill and had a great time. I left about 10:15 to get home and get the tools and stuff that we had left outside put away. One of the guys at the track said that a thunderstorm had popped up west of us and would be here in maybe 4 hours. It won't hurt unless the creek crossing is filled up again.
Well bed time.
Good Night all
Mornin, an irish coffee and a short stack please Janie.
Jim, not much layout time, been busy trying to get the garden out, yard work and other projects. Schools out now, so I'll have even more kids thrown into the mix of things to do

Good joke Inch.
Good morning. It's 75 and cloudy here this morning.
