Good Afternoon All,

I'll have a root beer float in a to go cup please Flo. Thank you all for the comments/support and prayers. I've been in and out of the house today cleaning/gathering so the crew can come in tomorrow and get after the rest of it. Dehumidifiers have dried out most of it but the second floor though dry is going to be a real test.

Jerry and Jeff - nice work also - Garrys'. Thank you Luc for the post reminding us what today is really all about. Dick - sorry to hear about your loss also. One of my country bands used to  do benefits at the Rocky Hill Vets hospital. It was ough to see the Walking wounded" who were there and just couldn't go back to a regular life. At least our playing tried to bring a little fun into their routine. Gotta run - lots to do yet today.   See y'all later, J.R.

Hi,guys. A buddy of mine passed last week, a Korea  vet.The funeral was at the Northwest Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetary with full honors. What a thing to witness. The folding of the flag was something else! I didn't realize the significance of each fold.

LEE: My friend's son ( the buddy above)is a Helicopter pilot for the Coast Gaurd out of one of the bases in Alaska, forgot which one,but he said he watches over the Deadliest Catch  crabbers. That was kinda neat.He was in his dress uniform.Wow.

JEFF: the railbox car looks great as does the park.

JR: Fires suck. Just in the last 2 days we've had 2 fires that absolutly destroyed the structures. One was the local Fire Warden's home! The other was a summer cabin built out of logs in 1902.

70 f here this am, now it's 46f!The tornados that went thru No. Minneapolis yesterday hit just north of where I used to live. What is with this weather?

Thanks to those who serve.

Evening Gang: The den is ready for the tile crew tomorrow. I hope that they show up. I have an appointment with the eye doctor in the afternoon. So far I'm really happy with the progress my eye is making. I just hope that he is also.

No MRRing today. Mary Ann and I went into Lowe's to order her a cabinet for the dinning room. We got 10% off for my being a vet. Then we bought me a new roll around tool box set. List price was $996. When the guy in the tool grib got us checked out I got it for $717. A great surprise to us. Now I just have to find a place in the shop to put it.

Well I guess I'll head for bed.

JP if you are still on the line my best wishes for a safe tour in the sandbox.

I've been busy on the centerpiece for the park and I must say it's a thing of beauty. The old K4 has been cleaned up and has had a cosmetic restoration. It doesn't look like the same locomotive.

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe.

Areas of dense fog will be around for the first part of the day today with morning low temperatures in the lower 60's. Mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected for the rest of the day with temperatures topping out near 70°. Tonight will be partly cloudy and cooler with rain exiting and overnight lows in the lower 50's. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will see plenty of sunshine with the return of warmer temperatures into the lower 80's by the weekend. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected both Saturday and Sunday.

JR,

Real sorry to hear of the fire and thankful everyone's ok. Sounds like repairs are getting under way quick.

DICK.

Sorry to hear of your uncles passing too. My uncle served under Patton on their race there, as a tank commander and is tank was hit by one of those tiger tanks. He was the only survivor from his crew, though badly wounded.

Mother finally saw a couple honeybees here yesterday, still hoping for more to show up soon

JIMCG,

The garden is coming along as the weather permits almost done planting. Bout the time it dries out enough to work good, it rains again. Farmers are having weather problems getting crops out here too. Most the corn is out late, which cuts into yields. Some are having to do some corn replanting though. Soybeans still have some time till their yields are hurt.

Time fur chores, hope ya'll has a gooden and thoughts for all those in need.

Good Morning All,

I'll have a regular to go please. Yesterdays' weather was perfect and today it's still mid sixties but we're getting showers with it. Back in the shop and hard at it to catch up again. I'll try to make the museum tonight just to put down some ballast on the O-gage and get my mind off things. Catch Y'all later.   J.R.

A good morning to all.  Haven't stopped by in some time, been rather busy and quite eventful lately.

JR, real sorry to hear about the fire. It could have been so much worse. Thankfully your son made it out OK.

Have had quite a lot of family visiting here lately. My oldest daughter graduated from Northeastern University. The ceremony was held in the "Boston Garden" Fleet Center. Over 3000 grads in this years class. A wonderful party followed.

My yougest finished her first year at U Mass Amheast, and with a 3.6GPA, and is now already off to drum corps w/ the Citations.  My house looks like "Dorm Room" exploded all over the place. I did make a spot in the basement for her stuff until next semester.

Now the news as to me: After dealing w/ such a bad time over the past year (to enlighten those that don't know- lost my wife last Mar 07).  I have actually come to the point where I had been out socializing and did find a wonderful woman (Linda) to spend some time with. Nothing serious, but just great that I am at a point to at least do so. The weather here this Memorial day was fabulous, couldn't have asked for better for a walk on the beach or out to the numerous parks about Boston Harbor.

I have to run off to that w**k thing that pays for trains and the roof over them...

Have a great day.

Have a good day

Mornin' all!

Bob K., good to see you in here again.  You've been missed!  But then, you've been out enjoying life, so thats good.  Just remember, you'll always have friends here!

Dick, I'm so sorry about your loss, but at least your uncles pain and nightmares are gone now.  I got your Email, and I think you payed him an awesome tribute with your story.

Gotta run for now!  Later!

Morning, Zoe - I'll have a cup of the TH and one of those chocolate donuts, please.

Thanks!

Dick - sorry to hear about your uncle. At least you know he's at peace now. Angel [angel]

Jeff, good job on your centerpiece of the park! Thumbs Up [tup]

Mike, we've had some of that weather cycle here - morning paper was talking about the TC strawberries will be late here (local Teen Challenge center raises funds by selling them each summer, and they are good, plus they'll 'rent' you a bucket and give you pointers if you want to pick your own). A friend from church (whose farm is south and west a bit from Cape) said Sunday that he has finally managed to get his crops in, with some of those same delays involved.

Johnboy, are you inside the Arctic Circle up there and working those kind of hours? You sounded plenty tired. Best catch your Zzz [zzz]Zzz [zzz]

We've been dodging the really nasty stuff here on the weather. Looked on last night's weather radar like Oklahoma had some big storms & lightning there that was supposedly tracking east and north. Our area missed any heavy stuff yesterday because we stayed cloudy most of the day. When it does that, not enough heating occurs to cause problems (but if it clears off and gets sunny for long...Shock [:O]). So I'm hoping things will stay cloudy today (here and across Arkansas and Oklahoma - they've been getting a lot of the rougher weather the past few days).

Colby, congrats on finishing up this school year... Enjoy your summer!

Hoople, nice pics of the ships - I didn't see that TV show, though. (Not watching as much TV this spring/summer) What've you been doing lately on the layout?Cool [8D]

Sorry, Shockwave, Hoople and Rotoranch - I haven't been keeping up with auto racing, though the ladies do add a nice touch to it.Smile [:)]

Terry, good to hear from you again - stop back in again soon. Been working on your RR?

Wonder how much longer till Fergie's back on terra firma Pirate [oX)] (and until we hear back from Ed...)Confused [%-)] Hopefully not too much longer.

And did anyone write down when it was that JP was heading for the sandbox? I should've written it down, I know.

Better get back to the W thing for now. Prayers for better weather for all, and a good visit with the doctor for Paul.

(edit) Bob K - good to hear what you've been up to lately. Sounds like your youngest is off to a good start with college (well, the GPA at least, not the neatness thing...).Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Happy to hear the healing has progressed for you.

Blessings and Prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Morning Gang: Not much going on here yet. We're waiting for the contractor to get here and work on the floor. I guess he called when we were out getting some breakfast. Since the kitchen and dinning room are piled up with stuff from the rest of the downstairs we eat out alot.

JR you have it even worse then we do. At least we don't have the fire damage to put up with. Are you going to do any up grading when you repair?

I'm getting a little concerned about Ed and Fran. Mexico is practically at war with the drug cartells. The border areas are really war zones. The US gov has issued warnings to anyone going to Mexico.

Bob K: Good to hear from you. I'm happy that you are getting more into the grove. How's the club layout coming?

I'll be heading for the doc about 12 noon. See you all after.

In response to you and Johny Boy

We Lost Internet once we neared the Greenland Coast then... we got caught off of Greenland by a Low, which wouldn't go away so we hove to for 2 days riding it out. Mostly Gales 40-45 kts with gusts up to 50 at times. Anyway we are free and clear of that MESS and on our way back to the Labrador Coast where luck would have it is another Low deepening (Oh Joy) What mader it really interesting was the Greenland Current. It was running a good 2-3 knots in places. I've never seen waves travel like that before! some were a good 30' But the good thing was there were no Bergas to run into. I'm heading back to Iceberg alley and should be there by tomorrow evening.

Saying that the couple of MR projects are slowing getting done. Both Jordan Erie Built Crane and Steam Shovel are built, just need paint and rigging.

Dick: Sorry to hear of your loss. So from what Lisa tells me the East Coast has been wearing hip waders this last few weeks.

Anyway I must run!

Went on a real vacation for the first time since spring of 2005 and first real vacation since Katrina too!

My step son Bryan had his high school graduation from Saint Paul's Academy in Covington, LA on Sunday, May 18th; it was a Catholic Mass graduation ceremony. We went to New Orleans the week before that to visit my parents and we stayed with Monique's family, ate some good fresh seafood every day and such and then attended the celebration. We then flew Bryan to Hawaii Cool [8D] as a present to continue the celebration; of course we all came along too! Just got back into town yesterday afternoon and playing catch up since....

Sorry to hear about the fire JR, curious about as to how it started too! Glad to hear everyone was okay in the matter.

Sorry for your loss Dick, your uncle seems like he was a really great guy! Thoughts and prayers for you and the family.

Morning everyone.

Well, same weather out here in SunnyCal--cloudy with afternoon showers and MORE snow predicted for the higher elevations in the Sierra.  In May, yet, LOL!  I guess we're playing catch-up from a very dry March and April.  However I don't know if this late wet weather is really going to affect our fire season this summer--which has started way TOO early for my liking.  At least that terrible fire in the Santa Cruz mountains is mostly contained, and should be out in a couple of days if the weather stays damp.

Checked every auto supply, hardware, ladder store in town and nobody's ever HEARD of the 'Topside Creeper,' so I ordered it from Micromark today.  Should be in about a week from now, so the Buttes are on hold.  Which doesn't mean I'm 'project-less,' though.  Got some detail work to do on a couple of locos, continue replacing my 'fall' WS clumpy trees with Scenic Express 'instants', repaving a highway--enough to keep me busy until I can get at the buttes.

Ryan: congratulations on your son's HS graduation.  As a just-retired teacher from a Catholic high school (Jesuit, out here in Sacramento), I can assure you that he probably got one HECK of a good education.  Where's he going for college?  Sounds like you all had a good graduation trip.

Jeff: neat display loco for your park.  For a moment there I was afraid you'd be putting the 2-10-2 on display.  Like what you did with the Pennsy Pacific, though.  The park is really coming along beautifully.

Well, the mailman just delivered a box of Cal-Scale parts from Bowser, so I'm off to install locomotive decks and fit an ash-pan on a loco I converted from oil to coal.  Should keep me out of trouble the next couple of days.

Best to all, and prayers to those in need.

Tom

in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks!

***Jim, got your email. Will look over it tonight. Thanks!

***Hoople, those are cool photos. Wife & I watched all of the first season of Deadliest Catch. Neat show.

***ROTOR, I can see your point about Milka Duno. Hmmmm, that makes two reasons to take up watching the races. I commented on this new revelation to my wife, that there were two babes who drive racecars. She was not surprised and pointed out that neither of them were blonde.Laugh [(-D]

***Jeffrey, would never recognize that as the same loco. Must have a regular Park Crew (or RR volunteers) to keep it looking so pristine.

***Bob K., glad to hear life is improving for you. It takes time. Wishing you all the best!

Woke up early and headed out with the wife to put up more closet units, shelves and hang pictures at her folks new room. Took most of the day and there is still much more to do there.

Tinytoons (mini dwarf horse) lost one of her shoes and even with the metal detector (which is how I normally find it) this time no luck. Did the barn twice and the yard once, but not even one little beep. Need to go make her a new one. Takes a good hour to cut it out of sheet metal, drip the air hole and then grind down all the sharp edges. But she still needs both shoes. Darn!

Have a great day all! Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Good afternoon.....

I'm glad to see everybody....

bobk ...that's wonderful news about your duaghters achievemens in college. Also, good to know you are okay with stuff.

Fergie .... nice to hear from you and I'm glad you have modeling time. I hope you can psot pix when you return. you're not planning too much gaerdening and other non-mrr stuff are you?

Ryan ... that's super news about your stepson's graduation. Hawaii????

Jeff ... the park scene is great!

Paul ... I hope there's a way to track down where Ed is. OJ will run out and we need his commentaries.

Tom ... SOunds like you have much to do awaiting the creeper. Enjoy!

My branchline caboose is now riding on new trucks and a steel underframe. I saw a picture of a Burlington side door caboose on Allied trucks instead of the normal wood beam trucks. Well, I just happened to have a pair of Allied trucks. Done.

Now i'm making a wood Burlington "3 window" caboose from another roundhouse caboose. I already have have six Walthers wood 4 window CB&Q cabooses. Plus there are several steel CB&Q cabooses on the alyout.

I think the Roundhouse wood cabooses could be used to kitbash an NP wood caboose, too.  Another time for that.

Happy Model Railroading.

Evening all,

Went to a little hole in the wall today in downtown Cleveland and had a gyro, wholly cow I think they served me the whole lamb, going to skip dinner tonight I'm still busting at the seams.

Going to have another working open house on the layout next week buddy from work and his son are coming down to help ballast the yard tracks and maybe some of the mains.

Dutch Harbor; my Assignment Officer (Detailer) always offers that unit to me.  The island is a nice little refueling point for the USCG Medium and High Endurance Cutters (WMEC & WHEC) and the fishing fleets.  So far I've avoided it, maybe as my twilight tour.

I got the result from my chief test; 82 after doing the math it looks like my final score will be a 132.579.  Doesn't look high enough to make the advancement list, maybe I'll get it right next year.

Evening gang!

Just a quick stop in before I go get some dinner.

I leave a week from tomorrow. Since I'm only workign a 1/2 day that day, I will stop in then as well and say my farewells to the club. I'm sure that when I get back, the diner will have been moved AGAIN!

Dick - Sorry to hear the loss of your uncle. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

JR - Glad the fd got there fast. From what you described, it could have been a total loss if they had not. Prayers to you and yours as well.

Ok gang... dinnertime.

Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Good afternoon ladies and gents.

I've been having good days for awhile now. Found my bike helmet, so I took my bike out for a spin and such.

Jeff: That K4 is looking much better!

Rob: That show is pretty good. New episode of the 4th season is on tonight at 9 PM on the Discovery Channel

Jim: Actually alot of things. I fixed that switch by just taking it out and putting in some 22"s in it's place. Next is more fun. Friday, I decided to make a tree. Then more. Now I have 7. 5 pine, the others just maple or something like that. Woodland scenics is a blessing. To go with my trees, I added some grass last night and a couple of minutes ago. Now I have a pretty well sceniced little area. Once I get my backdrop, I'll go to town in the town, then make the big push for the other side, known as the Denver Dived or the Stormont Hill.

That's it for now.
