Happy B-Day [bday] 2008.....  Couldn't find a party image other than this and couldn't eliminate the birthday part, please forgive. I had the right intentions but not enough time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE REGULARS AND VISITORS AT THE DINER, WE WANT TO WISH ALL THE CLIENTEL AND STAFF A WONDEROUS AND PROSPEROUS 2008.

haven't been in for awhile as I have been very busy with three of my sons (out of four) that got home for the holidays. Weve been having a great time.

One thing I wanted you to know is that I got a board game for Christmas and it is called        "Ticket to Ride" A great Railroad game. The one I got is the north american version but there are others as well, Germany, Swiss, etc. and I think they are harder. Anyway, if your looking for a great game, try this one.  You will not find it in the regular Dept. stores. You will have to go to a gaming store or find it on line.  You can "Google"  the game to read about it.

Johnboy out..............

I'm being called right now we have a few errands to run.  So please have fun but stay safe.       No drinking and driving. We want everyone back in the morning.

Hello everybody....

We returned from our brief trip to Ohio and Michigan late last night. I certainly wish we could travel by train as we could pre-Amtrak. Those dining cars were far better than today's roadside fast food. ...........and wouldn't you know......... now, I am reading your posts and am seeing the good stuff you've been eating here while I travel. ... Prime ribs! ..... Pecan Pie! ... (nuts).

Again thanks for the kind thoughts concerning the accident I mentioned. The Lionel Engineer (my grandson) really was cut and bruised quite a bit in the face and the head. He's healing okay now, and I'm glad.  The insuarance company has already totaled the minivan and settled up with the money. The child car seats are scrapped too. (Thanks for the advice, Lee).

Happy birthday, Der.

Jeff, I like the L&N E6. A couple of years ago, I saw one of three surviving E6's which is an L&N unit in the KY Ry Museum. The other survivers are an ACL E6 and a Rock Island E6. When I the L&N E6, it was in horrible condition, but I heard it's now being restored to be on display (non-operating).

Rob still prefers railraod coffee mugs I see.  That's better than girly, floral mugs, right, Rob.

PC........... sorry to learn about the loss of the family dog.

It was good that the diner was visited from the Netherlands, Luppo! Cheers to you!

Happy New Year, everybody!!!!!

PC:

Hey der.....is today your birthday?  Thats what it says across the street!
...Yes indeed it was! ...and another 5 track bumpers to boot! Thumbs Up [tup] Where is "across the street"?  As you know I come in the back way, so don't see what's out front.
You heading out tonight?
...nope, staying close to home. BTW, check your email for something to be thinking about around midnight, if you get the chance.

Mitch: Happy Birthday tomorrow, as well as HNY.

I've run some stats on the Coffee Shop and the two Diners, since we are turning the year.  It took the Coffee Shop from 29 April 2004 until 8th. August to get to 71 pages, that's 102 days.  The first Diner and this one are neck and neck at 45 days each to do the same!  What was Sue(?) saying about us being blabbermouths?

Lupo:  Really good to hear from you!  And a very good New Year to you and yours. Glad you found you way here.  Any mrr these days?

Ryan:  That Prime Rib was indeed a sight to behold, and just as I like it.  In honour of which I had a strip sirloin at the Sheet Harbour Motel for lunch yesterday.  That's the nearest they could come! It was medium rare too, but not much flavour.

Jerry:

what brand track are you using?
..that's Atlas flex.  I think the whole layout is Atlas flex and nearly all the turnouts are Peco.

Tea time, and I must get on with the gravel and ballast if I can.

Happy New Year to all.  Johnboy, for your records... ....and one use if you are quick

I don't remember seeing an L&N E6 when I job shadowed there for a school project. But I guess that's been 2 or 3 yrs ago.

I gotta admit, That looks like an awful lot of yellow on that nose to not have a logo or something to break it up.

EDIT: Thank you Guilford for picking up the tab for me. I'll have a Biscuit and Gravy full order ladies. Thank you!

Flashware....... the L&N E6 I saw about 2 or 3 years ago was on the siding along with all sorts of rusted rail equipment from the past. The E6 was still in original blue paint scheme from what was visable throught the rust. Were on a family outing - a train ride. Looking out the window at the beat up old cars and locos, my granddaughter said: "Grandpa has to fix those trains."

What a sweet granddaughter. blue? that I rember seeing. I was trying to recall the grey and yellow. I remember them telling me about problems with vandals around there and couldn't keep the engine doors locked and windows in tact.  heck, I might've just been up in the cab that day.

Afternoon.

Ryan: No schedules have been set up at this point, Robert Plant is doing a tour with another band. When he's done, the Zep will rock it out.  Apparently the reunion (Which had several illegal videos of on youtube, several taken down) went so well that they are going to do more.

Evening Gang and Happy New Year.

We finally got Mary Ann a Medicare Suplimental policy. I just have to get a statement from the cobra foks that it ends tomorrow.

I did get to the basement for a bit the otherday and did some cleaning up. Thanks for the push PC. I got some kits that have collected on the layout put on shelves and found a book on Harleys that I had gotten for John. I need to clean the track and run a train for Racheal the 2 yr old GD. She is train crazy and I didn't have anything to do with it. I'll just have to nuture her along.

The baby is still doing allright. John and Dyanne and the rest of the family are going in tonight but I'm going to stay here.

Well I have to get off and write an E-mail to cobra to cancel the coverage and send us a letter conferming same.

Good Night All

in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you.

Can't keep up with all the recent posts. So a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to You All. It has been a real pleasure meeting such a nice & interesting group of folks.

Wife has a nasty cold (again) and I have a sore throat, but still hope to beat the odds once more and not get what the full blown version of what she has. Don't worry, she isn't going to mess around with it this time and will talk to the Doc on duty tonight when she works in the ER.

Got the driveway ready (hill into the barnyard) with extra gravel for the folks to drop off their trailer tomorrow. These are the folks from Dirty Jobs who are buying 3 of our miniature Zebu cows.

About 1/3rd done in the dungeon/workshop. Closer to 1/2 way when considering much of what is left is less sorting and more stacking.

We have an island again...Duck Island...our smallest. Not enough rain yet to fix Goose Island, but Mother Nature is making progress with each new rain.

Okay. Stop right there. You can't just casually toss around "folks from Dirty Jobs" and NOT expect to have to give an explination.

(Okay, you can. But I'm still gonna ask you. :P

***Flashwave, did you happen to catch the episode when Mike visited "Wildlife Wonders"? http://www.wildlifewonders.org/ They had an assortment of critters, perhaps the most unusual was their Binturong named Popcorn. It's those folks. They are going to leave their trailer with us so I can get the 3 mini zebu use to going into it. Had to put our Paint stud up in the riding arena, as he has been free roaming our yard and made an impressive manure pile right infront of the gate into the barnyard. Only a 4-wheel drive with huge nobby tires could have traversed that before I scraped and re-gravelled it.Laugh [(-D]

Happy BirthdayHappy Birthday, der.  Hope that you had a great celebration.

Mark,  You are a Zep fan.  Did you listen to the 2007 top 999 rock tunes of all time on KISW?  Led Zepplin got 4 out of the top ten.  I guess there were over 2 hours in the top 999.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Happy New Year, Coffee Clubbers,

11:30 here.  Just got back from a light supper at the sister-in-law's house here in the neighborhood.  We'll try to stay awake until 12:00.  Probably not much later.

Tomorrow we'll see if I can kick off my New Year's resolutions right and at least look at the layout.  Like I say, hope springs eternal in the human ***.  Despite a poor track record with resolutions, I continue to believe that this coming year will be different.

My internet connection is acting up again, so I'll close here and try to get this posted before everything crashes.

Best wishes to all of you for a muy Prospero Año Nuevo!

Regards

Ed
