Afternoon.
I'm enjoying my day. Dad came home for Orlando and brought me an NFL specs Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo jersey. IT'S AWESOME!
I'm enjoying my passenger cars... And Flashwave, I will keep pluggin.
Hello everyone,
No progress on the layout this week so far. I was in Nashville Sunday and Monday. Yesterday I came down with the flu, and I'm getting over that now. The storms were severe yesterday, and our electricity has just been re-connected.
The tests at the heart clinic Monday morning in Nashville were disappointing because they disclosed a couple more potential problems. I am glad, however, for my device and the medications becuase I still feel okay.

Perants were the only ones who could ride during Driver's Ed I believe, after that a legal family member would pass. (Though they wouldn't let me prop up old Dead Uncle Fred...) After getting one's licence actually, I can't drivewith anyone except a legal operator over 21 for 90 days. But I can go on my own. And I second the lousy drivers.

JimRCGMO: Nope. Part 1 of 2 for the actual licence. I drive next week. Already done the Driver's Ed/ Learners thing.
Hoop: descrips is good too. keep pluggin'
I'll have a chocolate shake and some milk. oh, and one of them ravioli things. Thanks ladies!
Went to work on the trains last night, only to find that any of the paints I need are solid as rocks from the cold. So I'll get some silver spraypaint for the AFT. I was reasearching last night, and wound up in France. Apperently, the `49 observation wound up accompnying 49 French boxcars that were sent over loaded with gifts. one to each state.
Thanks for all your comments,
For lunch I'll have Coffee with a side order of Coffee. And to drink, a large Coffee, please & thank you.
Have a good day all.

Good Day Gang,
Chloe, I'll have that "Flat Iron Steak" that Ryan has been raving about. (put it on his tab !!).Also a tall lemonaide, that will make me think more of summer thoughts.
My heart and prayers go out to those souls that were in the path of those storms last night through Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama etc, Like I said before, when looking at that devastation it sure makes -40c not so hard to take. Don't you think Kevin & Charlie ?? Sure hope all our friends down that way are safe and sound.
Cape Jim: we are all still waiting for you to put that big move on that sweet teller. Come on, keep us informed of your progress with her. We want to start planning that Bachelor party.
It is nice and mild here today, just a little below freezing, so I'm going to take this opportunity to clean the driveway much better than what I had through that real cold weather. Also to burn off some of those calories from Ryan's steak.
Have to go in to workk for a couple of hours tonight so I had better get things started around here as I do want to get back to my mountains before work as well.
Will check back in from work tonight. Till then ya all stay warm, stay safe.

Funny you should ask.... I've just about wrapped up a new one.....
Morning folks, I'm back!
I called in sick yesterday and just slept and rested most of the day, still not 100% today, but enough energy to make it into work. Just want to go back to sleep though...
Lee nice site, I like the "Fox Creek Chronicle", I bet the pub opened up the bar again after that "Cat" sighting. And your chili recipe looks good too!
PC thanks for the chili recipe, now I know all your chili secrets! I'll have to post one of my chili recipes, but I have to write it down first.... Oh now...hey....is that de Frito Bandito! Aye, aye, aye-aye, PC is the Frito Bandito..... Congrats on the Chili Crown!
Rob I hope things improve for you and the misses soon!
Mike thanks for the well wishes, and looks like we might have to sponsor a Diner Chili Cook-off soon!

Ed yes, the ones we ate were wrapped in banana leaves and were actually not as dry as the corn husk ones. When I made tamales at work we have used a product called Masa de maiz or masa harina for the tamale dough. I bet those naps you squeeze in at the grove are quite relaxing and refreshing; I can just imagine how peaceful it can be!
Jim thanks for the heads up on the sore throat illness spreading.

Just dropping in for a snack to get my creative writing juices flowing. I'm working on a write up of last night. There was a lot going on. The whole issue with the economy was very prominent in voters minds last night and I think it probably influenced the voting a good bit.
enough politics. once this write up is done, i can start working on my scene for MR's contest!
Good Morning, Zoe, Ozark Belt, Colby - and I see PC and Bill T. have been through already. I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ,
a cup of coffee and one of Bill's chocolate donuts, please
Thanks, Philnrunt!
Storms have moved through and now it's 43 F (which appears will be the high for the day ). Hope everyone made it through the night without any significant damage. Now, if we can avoid that kind of night for a long while...
Well, something for all the political pundits this morning - this one got more states, that one got more votes, this one is leading, but that one isn't dropping out, etc., yada, yada, yada... (Yes, I did go vote yesterday). As Ozark Belt said, the media were covering the primaries as if there was no other news yesterday - even eclipsed the stock market drop (which had - for maybe 30 minutes - been the news earlier before the primary coverages kicked in...). Ah, politics!
(back?) to the Diner, Chuck! (I think you were in a time or so before, right?) Have a cup on me, and c'mon back again soon.
I was thinking this morning that I need to get some plywood sheets to try out and see about how much space additionally that I will need for all my structure kits I have yet to build. Of course, after I start that figuring, I likely will have to start looking for a bigger apartment, right?
Well, need to do that 'w' thing today. See everyone later! Prayers for those along the storm's path and those digging out from under, as well as our ailing Diners and loved ones.
hey guys.
well we are having winta weatha up here. It's almost like a winter mix. and to our mid western friends stay safe from the tornados.
Man, what a Night! *yawn* Anyone else follow the coverage on super Tuesday? Isn't really odd that the media is paying so much attention ont he primaries this years. in previous primaries, you barely heard anything. this year its... well, see for yourself.
Anywho, I'll have a Choffee (hot coco mxed with coffee) and about six donuts. (they're probably left over from yesterday.) Well, off to the rat race.- business is the worst curse you can ever put on somebody.
Mornin' All!
Got a ton of rain last night! It's still raining a bit.
Oh well, off to work!
Later!
Howdy, everybody,
Black coffee sounds good. It's way too early, but I'm semi-awake so I might as well try to stay that way.

Yeah, the weather is really wierd. Here in Sin City it's been way BELOW normal - enough to keep me out of the non-climate-controlled layout room.
We had a record turnout because there's some real difference between the candidates, so people have been supporting their ideologies and prejudices. What I'm afraid of is that, once ONE candidate (per major party) has emerged victorious all the people who supported the other(s) will sit out the real election. One extreme-ender has already announced his intention to do so if his party's front runner is nominated. (That strikes me as equivalent to saying, "If my party's candidate doesn't wear MY choice of racing stripes, I'll just throw the race to the other side." Dumb!!!)
Down in the Transit forum, some guy posted a thread looking for arguments against a proposed monorail in his home town. The first blast of answers were all from people who FAVOR monorail! I wonder, what was he expecting when he posted on a site populated by rabid railfans? Whatever it was, he didn't get it.
Well, I'm off to the (non-political) races. See ya.

Gotta run - after school project again today - we hope to get all the new track down on the school layout and maybe even run some. The kids seem really enthusiastic. Not much done at the museum last night save for cleaning and sorting. Later, J.R.

***Flashwave, I thought about that kind of donkey mug when I made that post. That will do just fine.
For those in the line of Mother Natures fury, stay safe. Some nasty weather out there.
Night all. Rob
Well, Zoe - now that the storm front has moved through our area (Garry and our southern Indiana/Ohio folks - watch out!), and (ahem...) now that Philnrunt has hit TOP, I'll come by the Diner briefly.
Got a lot of rain tonight, tornados south of us that looked on the radar to be heading up the Ohio River valley, and as I'm driving back home from a church meeting, I could swear I heard what sounded like hail (but couldn't see any on the ground) while I was stopped at a traffic light. Sirens sounded earlier, but I was inside the church building - and someone had said if they came around we'd be moving to an interior hallway (where there're no windows). But it appears to have moseyed on east of us. Now, we're supposed to drop from 70 F this afternoon, to 43 F tonight. I heard someone on the radio saying maybe even some touch of flurries at some point in the morning.[WHAT!?!]
Flashwave (aka 'Hubcaps') - good that you missed the truck (and vice versa), and congrats on passing your test (for the learner's permit, right?).
Ed, on the spicy stuff, I'd probably be leaving out 95 percent of the chili powder and 100 percent of the jalapenos and peppers. Tonight was a good night to be glad you don't live up here NOTB.
RT, good that you have your taxes done for this year. Now you have the rest of the year to earn what you need to live on.
Yeah, Lee, I saw that conversion on the detail parts website. Looked funny with that short steamer as a 'Cab Forward'...? I'll check back with you once I get ready to order some of those detail parts. I want to do an oil conversion of the tender on my Mogul; think I may have most of the parts I need for that. Ed showed us a while back (in the Coffee Shop) how to do a tender conversion to oil (on one of his N scale locos). I got a peek at your website this afternoon, but will go look again in the morning.
Terry, sounds like you've been quite productive on your MRR'ing lately - way to go!
Time for this to get his bedrool and catch some ....
Blessings and prayers,
Reading all the posts under a big deadline, a rather large line of severe T-Storms are heading into our area, so I just wanted to say that I brought a photo disc to try to upload to -photobucket or rrpicturearchives.net, and it looks like I am going to have to shut the 'puter's down here in a few minutes!
We might try to get 'em loaded in a few hours, if the power is on.
pcarrell- all I can say about that crown is Ay! Caremba!
Take care and all of you to the east get ready for more rain!

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Today was a bit warm to really be considered as a beautiful day down here in Paradise. Got up to around 88º or so. And bright sunshine to boot. Yup, it was a tad toasty while we were out in the orange grove. When a slight breeze was blowing it was enjoyable, but when that breeze stopped, head for the shade.
We actually had a local buyer come by and cut 3 tons of fruit this morning. He's supposedly coming back tomorrow for another 3 tons. No big deal, but at least it gets the fruit off some of the trees. They do much better if the fruit is picked before they start to flower for next year. But I'm whipped after spending most of the day out there. So tonight's post will be quick. (Yes, I did squeeze in a short nap while we were out at the grove!)
CG Jim: I figure that those chili recipes you folks have been posting probably would take off the roof of my mouth if I tried to eat some of them.
JR: What do we think about a chili cookoff/fiesta soon? Ed can send some of his tamales, the CFO can contribute some of our humoungo soft tacos...
Jerry: I always judge my chili as good if it has a grease slick of top...
Flashwave - congrats on the escape/close call.
That's about it for me. Bed beckons.
Hasta mañana,
Ed
