Glenn,
Be patient. Sometimes it takes me several trys to get a video to link. I edit it until it works. Keep trying.

Here's another:
WRS Excursion train, Dooley, NH.
EDIT: Well said, Simon!
If I am not mistaken, this is the Kalmbach MRR forum. The on-line place for a publication aimed at modellers of all skill levels, experience and talents. It is a very sad day when any modeller feels inhibited to contribute to this forum.
How many lurkers do you think have read what has been said here this weekend and decided not to post anything in case it does not meet the standards of those that think they know better?
So some of you don't like Jeffreys photos? So what, be civil and don't comment. So you think he is posting too much? So what, if it really bugs you send a PM and suggest he just posts the best pictures.
The bottom line here is that anyone should feel secure posting here. This is not some elite group of modellers. Many of us have grown up on this forum and have evolved as modellers because of the encouragement and advice received here. Let us not allow a few that feel that their standards are somehow better, discourage anyone from participating.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Sigh... first time in awhile that the WPF has gotten ugly! Seriously guys (I won't mention names) STOP the ugly comments. WPF is for exactly that... FUN!!! To quote an ol' saying: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it!"
Jeff, please don't let these people bug you. Your work is inspirational! Thanks.
Brian
Here's a new photo. It's inspired by Jeffrey's B/W photo of his steamer.
Old Bob pauses from his pulpwood unloading duties at Snow Hill Lumber to watch a steamer fill up water while it's train is at the depot.
The trouble is; I don't have any lighted buildings or streetlights! I have some streetlights that aren't installed yet, and a few lighted buildings, I am going to hook everything up when I pave the roads in the town of Dooley. I will also add street lights then, and add crossing lights, I am sick of flagging the mainline crossing! All I can say is....um...it's a shortline!
EDIT: I meant Sunday; tomorrow is Monday.
Trentonizer wrote:Hey I love the lite Sunoco sign JKtrains. where is it from? I gotta have one of those for my layout, they are realistic!
The Sunoco sign is scratch built. It took a little thought, but I think it turned out OK. I want to talk to a company about ways to manufacture them for retail sale. There's a few things I would change if I built another one. I could also build a monument style sign too, that would be even easier to build.
TrainManTy wrote:You didn't miss much- most of it was arguing. Shall we start WPF 8/24-8/26 Version 2? Or just not; because it's Saturday night?
In case you had anything important planned, today is actually Sunday...
TrainManTy wrote:Yup! I saw them. How did you get your camera to make it nighttime? Mine tries to make it day. I have tried adjusting the exposure time; but nothing shows except locomotive lights and the crossing lights that I used. I don't have any lighted buildings, so it doesn't look that great.
The first question is how long did you adjust your exposure time to? The little bit of light from the buildings and street lights help greatly. I set the camera on manual. I also use the highest f-stop to get the maximum depth of field, exposure time is the last variable. Exposure times vary from 2 -6 seconds. You should bracket your exposures, keep notes if you have to, and experiment to learn what works. I also tried quickly turning on and off the 60 watt bulb overhead. Not bad results, it gives a little extra little to the entire scene. Also, the longer the exposure, the less critical the actual number. For example, you'll see very little difference between 5 sec and 6 sec.
Practice and experiementation. That's were today's point and shot cameras have made things too easy. I learned photography using a manual SLR. You had to understand the relationship between f-stop and shutter speed. Nowadays people just expect to point at the subject, press the button and viola perfect picture. Night scenes and model photography takes a little more work.
Glenn, you have to post a link for videos. Right click and copy the URL to a text box here, and then hit "enter"...it will be live and in blue when you post it.
Can I laugh on the inside?
well that didn,t work. now you can laugh at me

Hosted a little open house and visited a great huge opperations layout. Maybe I will build something this week to take a picture of.
Great pics this week, but some of the captions were a little long.
Terriffic photos guys and some great weathering too.
I've been messing around with some new photo locations using the latest finished loco - an old Walthers H10-44

The guard rail is from Rixx Products, their Pikestuff line. I looked long and hard before I found something I liked and was easy to work with.

I have a honest question: Does NS run some of their trains with a single engine? I ask because I have never been where the NS runs and it seems like I have seen a bunch of you NS modelers do that. Please clue me in.

I've seen some loooong NS trash trains arriving at South Kearny, N.J. with one loco on each end.

Ty, check the earlier postings for more from myself and others before the current issues were raised.
Maybe there should be a WPF - Hi-res and a WPF - Low-res on coming weekends??? Those with dial-up connections would know with the Hi-res to expect to wait for the download and could go to the low-res and see what was there instead.
Just a thought.

I'd like to know, from your perspective what's wrong with the photo or the models in it and the techniques employed in taking the picture. The only thing I can say about them is that they look good to me. I can't say anything for the color/hue/saturation because I'm partially color blind. Blues and grays give me fits. Most shades of blue look alike to me and with grays I can dark gray and light gray, the shades in between show up as varying shades of black, white and silver. This also effects colors that have blue and gray in them. That's all for now. I wouldn't want to 'hijack the thread' as you so eloquently put it.

Jeff,
Hijacking the thread would be posting almost 100 pics, like last weekend. Responding to questions would be appropriate.
