Hey all, I live over on the west coast in California, near San Francisco. I am working on rebuilding my former 4x8 HO scale layout. I hope to one day model some Southern Pacific mainline action, but for now I have a primarily switching layout. I use a Digitrax DCC system on my layout, and have a fairly random mix of rolling stock. Once I get underway on my new layout, I'll try to post some pictures.

I want to shift my attention to the pre-merger SP line that serviced the San Francisco Bay area, but currently most of my equipment is several decades older.

Since a lot of guys were posting their rosters, I'll include mine as well.  Though I have several locomotives, I usually only use the following two switchers:

S12 (Stewart)

SW7 (Broadway Limited Imports w/ sound)

When I'm lucky, I can still see some SP motive power on the freight trains around here, but usually its all Union Pacific. After this summer, however, the "hometown" railroad will change dramatically, as I will be going to college in Pennsylvania, and there is (I believe) a Norfolk Southern track through town. It will definately be a big change from the yellow UP engines to the black and white NS!

Welcome Boston! Sign - Ditto [#ditto] with the Sign - Welcome [#welcome] from Tyler.

Whistling [:-^] I made a new Free laced RR. Right now I have 3. This one is called Illinois Minnesota and Western. I think I should of did a diffrent truck color. I was going for silver.....

Or how about my short line? Two Rivers Manitowoc and Western? lol, it's just some patched locos.

Last it's my Moutain RR called the Montana Western, with da puke yellow frame color! LOL, that was the one big mistake I made.

SD45.

I'll also post the F45. Big Smile [:D]

I, as a teen model railroader myself, (modeling the New Haven's line between Boston and Providence in the 1940s), was wonedering if you had any tips and tricks for such a modest budget, or anything for that matter.

By the way, 3/2 and a half people don't know fractions.Big Smile [:D]

I got a cell the other day, so I could use that to take a video. Wanna do that at the MR club since the guy with the camera-equiped loco hasn't shown up in a while.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I wish I was in a club.... I can't run long trains on my layout without stringlining them on the grade, derailing cars, or hitting dead spots everywhere.....Banged Head [banghead] My track just....won't.....stay.....clean!

Anyway, I'm done whining now...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Railfan Alex, I'd be interested in some pix of your stuff too, maybe even a video! (Club layouts are great for that)

Wink [;)] I agree. I like everyones photos very much. I need to start documenting my little projects and taking pictures of my equipment. It seems that when you are part of a club, you obviously don't have to spend a huge amount of time on building your layout, but you sure end up using alot of your time participating in club activities, all my personal time that I use for posting, documenting and photography for my own self and not the benefit of my club seems to disappear! Sad [:(] Perhaps it's because I keep suggesting new ideas (whick almost always get taken care of by the suggestor) and I always want to take part in all the tasks available! Sigh [sigh] You can't have everything!

WCfan, that RR is a freelanced class 1 rr. I own it, so i run it by my rules. There will be the addition of an MP15 and some other road locos (and a GP38). I only have to have the MP15, so I'll spend money on getting my RR runing (aka track, wiring, ground throws). I will be getting a good amount oif locos, tho. Great photos, GG, you are a true master.

Nice locos Sawyer! That's a freelaced short line right? Something about short lines, I really like them.

Alex (Guilford Guy) I like that winter shot. How'd you do it. I think I read it was WS snow something. Sure beats my winter shot.

Another locomotive might be in the line of fireing to be patched, a P2K BN SD45.

Well, my roster expanded on Saturday:

I play in a pipe band and we were away competing in Kemptville, which is basicly an hour and 45 minutes away from home. Just my lick that my LHS is just 15 minutes further down the road from Kemptville. So I decided to leave home early so that I could make this trip in and see what was new at the store. So I went in expexcting to come out 60$ poorer at the most. Well, that didn't happen. Since I model the CPR in the late 70's I have a hard time finding engines for my layout. So everytime I go in to a hobby shop I check for CPR locomotives. Well I get into the shop and find two "new" locomotives, a PK2 CPR GP 18 (GP 9R) and a PK2 GP 7, that weren't there last time I was in. So naturally I had to buy them as I knew they would more than likely be gone next time I had a chance to go in. This recent purchase brings my roster count up to 11 locomotives:

InterMountain Railway Co. CPR (maron scheme) FP-7 A&B

    PK2 CPR F1 A&B

    PK2 CPR GP 38-2

    PK2 CPR GP 7 (x2)

    PK2 CPR GP 18

    PK1 CPR RS-10

    Bachmann CPR GP 35

    Spectrum CPR 44 tonner

I think that's all of them. I'm at school working on a data managment independent study right now (also don't know how I keep finding my way back were), so I may be editing this list after I get home from getting my hair cut for prom next weekend, and work (i.e. sometime late tonight). Oh,  Animal Sign - Welcome [#welcome].

Since you posted your roster, I guess I'll post mine...

    CR C40-8W, Bachmann Spectrum

    Chessie U23B, Atlas

    UP SDP35, Atlas

    CPRail GP35, Bachmann

Totally stripped (will be White River Southern) GP9M, Walthers Trainline

    That's my active roster, I also have a ton of old unusable trains inherited from my great-grandfather and some units that are usable with DCC but don't meet my quality standards, so they aren't used;

    Amtrak P40, Athearn

    SP AC4400CW, Athearn

I also have quite a bit of equipment from Guilford Guy, he brings it over to run and leaves it here, because he doesn't have a layout. They include

    BSRX GE 70 Tonner, Bachmann

    MNER GP30, Bachmann

    B&M RDC, P2K (2)

    Maine Central S4, Atlas

    CN SW9, P2K

Here are a few quick photos I took today. I still need to make the grass, and the line side poles. I'll also post these photos in WPF.

Wisconsin Centrals only SD35 drifts into Clear Water Junction. Fresh from the North Fon du Lac paint shops, this is her first run in WC paint. WC 2500 would later be assigned to Wausau as the permanent switcher there.

In fresh paint, WC 2500 slows down to cross the CNW/UP crossing at Clear Water Junction. Later the crew will make a pick up and set out at the CNW/UP crossing.

well its a start isn't it, just make sure that if you decide to take a break from model railroading don't go selling them like i did cause you never know what you may need later on when you get back into the hobby

i forgot to add im 20 so im nearing the end of being a teenager, so full time work really helps being able to afford the amount of locomotives i do, but i also look out for specials and runout sales they save you a heap, like the PA1-PB set i just bought in proto 2000, walthers are selling them for $89 where as the retail price was $189 so there was a huge saving there. the few union pacific that i do have were all bought on specials at the local hobby shop, but i intend to  find SP shells for them, talking about shells i on the look out for an Athearn SD9 running gear or undecorated unit, I was just curious if an Athearn shell will fit on the new Proto 2000 running gear, don't care whether its attached or not i can fix that?

thanks for the warm welcome its hard to find that in people our age LOL
