You all dont know me, but im starting my new layout now. Using my old 4x8 benchwork but re-tracking and re doing the scenery. Perhaps I will post some pictures once I get underway. I recently chose a track plan and Im going to pick up new track, turnouts, and roadbed this weekend after I prep the table. Just thought Id let you fellow modelers know what Im up to.

What about FEC? or Seminole Gulf? Or all those shortlines?

I don't know about shortlines, but Seminole Gulf is CSX's partner in crime in SW Florida.

FEC runs Jacksonville to Miami and exchanges with CSX and NS.

There used to be about 15 railroads running out of Tampa, but now its down to twoSad [:(]

P.S. Amtrack doesn't count

GG, we of the southeast focus on class 1s. You, however, are a shortline fanatic, my friend (which is good). There are some shortlines in the southeast (IDK how many in SC). They have very colorful paint schemes.

Yes there is an Amtrak station here, and its a 10 min. drive to downtown Tampa, but the Amtrak trains have a bad tendency to crash and be late etc.

A CSX leaving Uceta yard, the local yard.

Southie/SS (South Station) used to have a lower level. It had 2 tracks, but was only used once, and due to poor ventilation almost asphyxiated the entire crowd. Until the 70's part of the platform was used in a bowling alley, until that was torn down. If you want any pix of South Station I can get them anytime.

Sorry, I don't live near Boston, but I am facinated with the city and especialy with South Station. Did you know that durring WW2 (the period I model) it was the most used station in the US (part of the reason for the era)

Thanks for the tip, if anyone else has anything they can add, please do so.Headphones [{(-_-)}]

Today I did a bit of Rail Fanning of my Diorama.

When I arrive at Clear Water Junction we find the LO15 waiting just beyond the CNW/UP diamond.

We asked the crew if they knew when the CNW train was coming, but they didn't know. So we quick went to get some dinner. When we had got back the CNW train had already crossed, and the LO15 had left.

Later the scanner comes alive; an Empty Ore train to Superior is heading west from Algoma Steel.

We hear the roar of the EMDs as they start the grade, and then slow down for the crossing. After clearing the crossing the crew would put her in notch 8 to get up the grade. Looks like An Oakways SD60 is helping the ore trains. (I'll probably re do this picture with a better back ground if weather permits tomorrow.)

The paint scheme is sort of based off of a couple different RRs. The green was more of a lighter version of the cascade green, the "Z" stripe is based off the WC F45s, the trucks where based off of the EJE trucks (I could also say ATSF too), and the biggest help was the DME paint scheme. That's what really inspired me.

Nice! My first guess would have been CN&W, because the paint scheme with the Z looks a bit like their last paint scheme, along with similar colors.

Welcome Boston. One tip I used from a thread here was a 50:50 mix of white glue and water is just as good as scenic cement. That is true, it has worked great. One other: Get your money's worth. So use online hobby shops and buy good locomotives (basically, don't dump $30-50 bucks on a piece of crap loco [Atlas+Kato=great n scale fleet]).

I like the SD40 and the paint scheme WCfan (-pinkypurple)! Is the paint based on an existing railroad?
