I'm 16, and I live in and model central Missouri.  I've never completed a layout, but I've started 3 or 4.  I model short line or branch line HO in the steam era.

My roster is:

Locomotives: Bachmann 2-10-0, 3-truck Shay, and 0-6-0T.

Rolling stock: 2 30' Roundhouse wooden boxcars (kits), 3 Bachmann Bobber cabooses, 1 Bachmann 40' tanker, 1 40' stock car (kit), and 1 Roundhouse shorty flatcar.

Here are some pics of my latest layout;

Hey Guilford!  Nice to hear from you.  The only reason I got off of the Bachmann board is 'cause there was some kind of nasty thing that got imbeded in my computer from that board, and it was messing things up and taking my internet connection for itself.  I wish I was still on there, but I'm afraid I'll get that bug again.

Way to go Alex. It only takes ONE to get things rolling. I'm a few years past my teens, but I had other interests back then (a buddy took me to my first drag race our senior year in high school). Have you given any thought to a Teen Model Railroader newsletter? People could subscribe and you could have how-to's, post pictures of your layouts, etc., and to keep your costs down, do it ALL via the internet. Set up a webpage and post your articles, letters, etc. AND GOOD LUCK!

here are some weathering attempts using a very unique type of black spray. Its a hair colorer often found around Halloween (can be up to 75% off after the holiday). It comes in blond, brown, and black. Big Smile [:D]

Hey, I railfan too.  It's a little cheaper hobby than model railroading.  Here's my RRPA album; http://alextherailfan.rrpicturearchives.net/  Enjoy!

Bapou, what area of Vermont do you model? I model the area around Bellows Falls, VT.

Hi railroadyoshi, I model the fictional BB&B  (Burlington Barre & Bennington). With a leased E.L. RS1 and a CV alco S1-4. So far I only have Barre and Burlington (unfortunatley the extension will be NJT so I might have to drop the 3rd B Banged Head [banghead]).

Go NJT, NJ Transit, New Jersey Transit. Whatever you call it its good. See my pictures and videos here: http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff20/Bapouthetrainman/

Yeah, I got a realiable source of income too. Mowing lawns, just like you said. But it will only work if the weather is right! Right now it's so dry.

I mow about 1 acre of lawn every week but no money for trains! Just gotta go with $1.50 allowance per week I guessSigh [sigh].

Yeah I agree. I hope you got a rideing lawn mower. We got like 2 acers, but we don't have a push mower. Plus I don't have to mow our lawn. lol.

Hello everyone. Since this thread seems to be catching on I might as well join in.

My alias is Yoshi; I'm not willing to give my real name. I'm 15. My location is as specific as I'm willing to be unless we are planning to meet in a public place. That's all you really need to know about me personally. Ask for anymore and I'll never speak to you again out of fear that you are a stalker. That should help break the ice.

I model a fictional shortline called the Vermont And South Troy (VAST) Slogans are "Business thinks vast, business ships VAST", or "Think fast, ship VAST". The route follows the former B&M Cheshire route from Bellows Falls, VT to Winchendon, MA, from which it turns south over the Heywood line to Gardner, MA. Between Bellows Falls and Winchendon it passes through the major town of Keene, NH and the line's summit at South Troy, NH. Also included in the route is the line from Keene, NH to Bennington, NH as well as a fictional branch from Bellows Falls to Westminster Heights, VT. My current layout is 7x11 modeling the Westminster Heights branch, butI have 15x30 allocated for expansion in which to model the route between Bellows Falls and Keene, NH. The next phase of construction has already begun.

My fictional line has been merged into a fictional system called NEAT, New England & Atlantic Transportation. The group running the system, the Boston Area Rail Fans, or BARF, was spearheaded by Guilford Guy and I. We are planning a round-robin group and a physical interchange system. We are open to teen modelers across New England, with the center of membership currently in Metrowest Boston. Come check us out:

http://neatrailcorportation.googlepages.com/

Yes, we know corporation is spelled wrong, you can blame Guilford Guy. ;-).

The current membership is all HO, but other scales are definitely welcome in the round-robin. The only thing that they will be unable to participate in is the physical interchange system.

I'm not willing to give my real name.

Also I just started reading this thread again LOL, and noticed your railroad is VAST which is also the real Vermont Association of Snow Travelers a snow mobeile group (aw I can't spell mobeile I give up LOL).

I have a gas push mower (it pushs its self! Thank you! I just control the gas and walk while sweating LOL). As for being paid my freind gets $10 per week also, and has LESS LAWN and a RIDING MOWER. I am outraged.

Edit 3 monthes ago I only got $1 per week so a raise is a dead idea for meBanged Head [banghead].

I don't receive any allowance whatsoever. I get my income from ridiculous parental and  extended family generosity on holidays. I choose not to accept any payment for the work I do around the house, seeing it as a duty that comes with being a family. I only take cash for it when it is a lengthy job that takes an entire day from sun-up to sun-down. I have really been meaning to get a job as well, somewhere that would give cash handling experience in order to be better suited for a bank job the next summer.

Ouch... I guess I'm just spoiled or something.

Ah well. I haven't started where the real dough is-Concerts. Once I get in a band, maybe we'd get some gigs.

That would be pretty nice. Send a webcast, you might be able to develop interest that way to get actual gigs. A good band is a pretty reasonable way to make those recreation bucks. This is a bit of a rant, so please excuse me, but the one thing I just cannot understand is how quasi high school breakdancing corps make $200+ in a night spinning around on the floor. I'll get off my soapbox now. SoapBox [soapbox]
