Cool! I like writing articles about railfanning on my layout too, but the most recent was a few months ago and was on "plywood pacific" style scenery. (yes, I know, my layout's built on insulation foam, it's just a saying!)Big Smile [:D]

Great photos everyone!

As I don't have any new scenery photos to share, here's one of my extremly ugly staging yard barrier, designed to keep the trains on the table and off the floor. It works, as I unfortunatly found out one day. (a train ran away on my 4% grade, ran over a switch too fast and hit the barrier.)

I made it from old brass track; my layout's Nickel Silver.

Yo guys. I did some more rail fanning on my layout. I forgot to mention I had one more loco in my fleet. But first you'll have to read the story. SD60M, you might like this story.

Ok, I was out rail fanning today waiting for the NB to come. Now it took so long to get here I was bored out of my mind. I just wanted to get the shots and go. Well anyway I see the usual consist come up Clark Grade. One of the units kind of sounded sickly. I took my shots and just as about I leave, I heard one of the locomotive shut down. Listening to my scanner, I found out the lead loco stalled. Wow, I have never seen this before. Anyway she starts reving and trys to get going, but she doesn't have enough power to get up the last bit of the hill.

HPIM1378.jpg ATSF SD45 stalled picture by JR7582

So anyway I hear on my scanner that the WC yard did't have any extra power on hand at that time. So one of the BN dispatchers sent down 9090 to help out. Well I didn't know what kind of loco 9090 was so; I figured it was a BN loco. But then I see this come around the corner, An OakWay SD60 with a SOO caboose. DUH!

HPIM1381.jpg SD60 9090 picture by JR7582

And a VERY rusty SOO caboose.

HPIM1382.jpg SOO cabbose on SD60 9090 picture by JR7582

I didn't think I would have enough time to get the shots so I hurried up, and got two.HPIM1385.jpg Full Consist picture by JR7582

This is my favorite shot. I went up on top of the hill and got the whole thing.

HPIM1388.jpg Full consist 2 picture by JR7582

Well after running back to my original spot I got one more shot of her going away. Then I ran out of film.Sad [:(]

Well I thought it was going to be a boring day, but it turned out I was pretty lucky.

I like that caboose. I dont think I have ever seen a piece of rolling stock that rusty that was still in service though.

I would do railfanning on my layout, but it looks horrible.

If I did, I wouldn't fit in. E9s, mountains, GS-4s, big boys... the norm for 1950.

I have. It fits the condition those cabooses were in to a tee. Ours almost looked like that.

#1 Here....

Here are some photos I took of the club I am a member of. Click on the link in my signature for the club website.

These are photos taken at the CPR St. Luc open house. We were invited to display a section of our layout. I'm the kid on the right in the photos. Photos by fellow club member Warren Meyhew.

Here's a not so good photo I took of the newest module.

Here is video footage of our club.

And last but not least some video footage a CN freight train footsteps away from our club. (We also have an excellent view from the windows!)

Well welcome to the TMRP. No one has posted in a while so I'll post some rail fanning I did on my layout, again. Here is something to add you DM&IR fans.

Today I was out at one of my favorite spots again. I like this spot because it's a good place to video tape, and a good place to get pictures as it's easily assessable. Well about a year ago I heard that some one was going to open an Iron Ore mine just North of Iron ridge. Well I wasn't thinking much of it today. I got my camera ready when I heard the horn. I saw the train come around the corner with the usual SD45, but it had a SD60 trailing, I guess WC needed some extra power again. But once I locomotive cleared the corner, it didn't look like the usual train. Nope, it was an empty ore train with DM&IR ore jennies.

HPIM1424.jpg approch picture by JR7582

Here's the power on todays train.

HPIM1425.jpg Up close picture by JR7582

Now I decided this would be a perfect time to do a time lasp shot

HPIM1431.jpg passing at grade picture by JR7582

The train had passed and was slowing down, then halted to a stop. I couldn't get back to my house, so I went over to the old CNW line that parallel the Milwaukee Road main for a while. The Track West of Iron Ridge is abandoned, but the CNW line going east connects with the former Milwaukee Road at the depot. The Former Milwaukee Road line turns North to where the new Ore mine is. The line only goes as far as Clarksville before being abonded.

Here is the train Switching crews at the depot, a WC local waits for the ore train to pass.

HPIM1417.jpg passing 2 picture by JR7582

Feeling the Ore train locomotive rev up and take off was an amazing sight even from where I was standing. I was surprised to see that 4 former GN ore jennies also made the trip.

HPIM1418.jpg passing 3 picture by JR7582

Here's the ore train passing the local fright.

HPIM1419.jpg passing 4 picture by JR7582

Once getting clearence from the dispatcher the WC locol rolling onto the main.

HPIM1420.jpg on main picture by JR7582

WC 3005 is reving up and ready to get to work on the Rock Creek Subdivision.

HPIM1421.jpg on main 2 picture by JR7582

With this one ore train this should be a pure sign for more SD45s on this line. A little way up the line I heard on the news that the ore train derailed. No one was hurt, I guess the MOW crew (Me) will have to find out what's wrong with the track.

WC fan, I really like that sneaky staging track you have there. Maybe add a hill and rockface, and that staging track would come out of a tunnel, to make it seem like it goes somewhere.

Hey Jordan....I got my layout done FINALLY that looks just like yours....Its TRAINZ of course but oh well :)......

Here is an idea that I came up with along with Jordan....What we plan on doing is when he takes pictures of his runs with his HO layout...I intend to copy the EXACT same pictures (some RR stock and trains might be a lil off but the detail and spots are right on) as he does on his layout with my TRAINZ sim....

Hi all. My name is Matt, I am 16 and have a G gauge layout in my backyard, modeling a narrow gauge tourist line. I am also beginning my 5th or 6th HO layout. I have aquired a large number of locomotives and rolling stock and I am really getting into this again after being out of HO for a little while. I already found some of my friends here I know from the NTRES forums.

I look forward to meeting everyone else and sharing pictures of my layout with everyone!

See you down the tracks!

Is this WCFan's layout or a different Jordan?

If so, I want to see this track plan.
