So far I can't find anyone who stocks either the Worksman or the Schwinn trikes within 200 miles!!

You are not kidding, Dave!

Just for fun, I looked at the Bradford Walmart—

THIS is the closest thing they offer to an adult trike!

https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Dirt-King-DK-300-Y-Adult-Dually-Step-Thru-Tricycle-44-Yellow/PRD12AHDNHBSB1P

C'mon! C$706 (reduced from $900!)

I can't believe there isn't someplace that can fix you up with a decent adult tricycle.

Amazon.ca has the Schwinn. Sure C$2,037! What's up with that?

https://www.amazon.ca/Schwinn-Meridian-Tricycle-Folding-Basket/dp/B01KH57Z96/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1512643749&sr=8-4&keywords=adult+tricycle

Even kiddie TRAINING WHEELS are $250!

https://www.amazon.ca/USA-1050-20-Inch-Junior-Stabilizer/dp/B004FQYJO8/ref=pd_sbs_468_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=3SJW8WRX70MVP4C7KEFC

Is there some sort of anti-bike lobby in Ottawa?

Well, wish I could offer some advice... I'm at a loss.

Have you contacted a bike shop? http://thebikezone.com/about-us-1/

Good day, everyone! Praying for some relief for those in Southern California facing such devastation  Angel

Well, wish I could offer some advice... I'm at a loss.

I managed to find a Schwinn dealer in Orillia who might be able to order me the 3 speed Town and Country.

I'm also working with a Worksman dealer in Toronto, but unfortunately I seem to know more about their products than they do!

Just for fun, I looked at the Bradford Walmart—

I'm not a big fan of Walmart. I spend very little money there. Personally I am disgusted with the way that they have gutted the downtown areas of countless small towns just so they could make a buck. Best that I shut my trap now lest I offend the powers that be! Hi Steven!

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

I'm not a big fan of Walmart.

"Ditto"

...but in the US it seems like they are the sole distributor for the Meridian so I thought I'd try.

I have been to the Walmart only twice in my 61 years. (Didn't buy anything, IIRC)

My town was much better off before they took over, too SoapBox

OK, I'll sit quietly in the back booth for now.

Steven NWP-SWP .... #700 is an impressive locomotive.

Ed ... I like the image you posted of the 1922 safety poster. It is still aplpicable today although the statistics are greater.

Ray .... It's good to hear your attened the concert. You deserve to be proud of your grand daughter. .... A 3 HP gasoline engine on a velocipede sounds like cheating. LOL . I have seen some at other RR museums.

Ulrich.... Sorry to see the photo and hear about people injuried in the train crash.

Everybody.... Happy Model Railroading

Thought I'd stop in and say hello...

My mom went to the walmart eye center... needless to say she couldn't see before she went and afterwards she still can't see... draw your own conclusion... walmart built a "neighborhood market" in Clinton, LA after a year or so it closed... now it's a dollar general...

I didn't get a lick of sleep due to my fever, headache, chills, and shakes... going to doctor about two... hope it's not serious!

Sounds like a good old fashioned cold, just watch out it doesn´t turn into a bad case of pneumonia!

Walmart came to Germany in the late 1990s, when they attempted to spread their "business model" against all local rules and regulations. They were bound to fail, and after accumulating serious losses, they sold all their markets to a local chain.

I don´t think they are being missed.

I just found this thrilling video, filmed on what I think must be the most eloborate HO scale light rail layout in the world!

Just look at that incredible detail - simply amazing!

Wow Ulrich, that was great!  I see our old friend "Mr. Portly" is even there! (4:08)

Do you know if the music is by Hans Zimmer?  I think his music is incredible!

Sounds very much like it, but I am not sure. It´s not mentioned in the credits.

Watch more of this incredible layout here:

Good afternoon all.

I see we have hit the madness that is page 5...

Zoe - How about a nice peppermint hot cocoa please? Thanks. And, give one to Vinnie too, please, it might make him smile. Thanks.

Walmart discussion - Don't get me started on them.... I dislike them to an extreme degree, but I am a tad bit biased... When they fire you because you had asthma issues while w*^king, and tell your cow*^kers you quit, you end up a bit biased... Whistling

Although I still shop there, as the isn't much choice in my town otherwise. I am not going to our towns grocery store and paying more than double for the same item as Walmart's price.

Steven (NWP SWP) - Hope you start feeling better soon! I'm getting over Bronchitis myself right now. And trust me, that is no fun at all when you also have asthma!

Ken - I will post it in your screwdriver thread as well, but I found a multi-bit screwdriver from Kobalt, that has a regular screwdriver handle, with multiple jeweler's sized exchangeable bits, that works great. Everything from a 0000 Phillips up. (And that is tiny!)

Ulrich - That crash certainly could have been much worse, but his quick thinking no doubt saved people. Someone get that guy a beer!

Weather - Forecast calls for ~12" of snow by tomorrow afternoon... Yet it is sunny here... Yep, welcome to NWPA!

W*^k - Off today, but go back tomorrow.

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

BIS google dancing in the fire and you won't feel guilty anymore.

I read a book on the Arizona, written by the 1st guy pictured in this video https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/12/07/pearl-harbor-uss-arizona-unknown-sailor/929844001/

He was in one of those gun control towers.  What the video doesn't say is the guy who threw the rope that saved them was ordered to cut the rope so the Arizona wouldn't sink his ship.  He disobeyed the order.  Trump recently awarded him a posthumous bronze star.

Before that was the Civil War.  Company Hatch was written by a confederate soldier.  Hatch is a phoenitc spelling of the letter H, southern style.  He slept on the ground everyday for 4 years.  Can you imagine?  I think in the same book he decribed watching and smelling the wonderful smell of a roasting rat in a POW camp.  He wrote "I did not eat the rat"

The Revolutionary war, we only learned about Bunker Hill and Washington crossing the river on Christmas.  POW's were expedable during the Revolutionary war and were killed for sport by the British.

I did not serve.  I would have had I had a lower draft number during Vietnam and my view at the time, was entirely influenced by the WW2 movies.  I had no concept that I could come home without arms and legs or people critcally wounded might take a lot longer than 30 seconds to die.  I don't know how I would have coped seeing buddies blown to bits.  I have seen plenty of horror as a physician, but that is an order of magnitude greater.

God bless all who did

December 7th does not only mark the day that will live in infamy, but also the 182nd anniversary of the opening of the first railway line in Germany. Oddly enough, the line between Nuremberg and Fuerth never became part of the growing network of railroad lines in later years, but was amalgamated into the Nuremberg trolley system at the turn of the century.

December 7th, 2017 is also my dad´s 91st birthday. He passed away 4 1/2 years ago.

Good evening all!! Long time since the last visit. Feels good to visit the site once again for a few months. Yes, Dec. 7 is always a tough day but we must never forget the impact it had on this country. Now I will watch the USS Arizona special and eat my humble pie. Anyways, glad to be here once again.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, a cup of decaf would suit me fine right at the moment....

MallWart - Haven't been in one in about 20 years.  Will never shop there under any circumstances either.  If I can only buy it there, I don't need it!  I won't go into why as politics aren't allowed here!

December 7th. 1941 was also the first day of service for the RGV RR Museum's NYC Empire Express cars.  One of the things I often tell guests is how the NYC was planning on having an article in most every newspaper in the world about these wonderful, comfortable, state of the art, new Budliners!  They never even got a mention.......  Just went into service without much fanfare.  To all of you who have lost family and friends in any war, my heart felt sympathy and prayers to you.

Compression Stockings....  First full day of wearing them and it is not too bad actually.  Legs do feel better with no itching or burning.  The stockings are definately a pain to put on, but once they are there I hardly notice them.

Been packing stuff for the RIT Train Show this weekend.  I shall be cutting HO roof shingles and installing them one by one on the roof of a water tower for Milo Mills.  They will end up looking like creasoted Cedar Shingles that were used back in the early 1900's.  If you happen for some reason to0 be there, stop by the Lakshores Division NMRA tables and say hi!

Rainy night tonight and snow seems to be on the forecast here in Louisiana...

Whatever is ailing me is not the flu but is a virus/infection that mimics the flu... my fever has broken and has stayed below 100 for the better part of the afternoon and the headache is mostly gone now... seems that my ailment has moved to my digestive tract and thats all I'm saying about that... but otherwise I'm on the mends and should be back at full health soon!

Hope tonight I get some sleep.

I can't fathom what was going through the minds crew of the Enola Gay when the bombardier released Little Boy, I wonder if they had any idea of the horrors they had been ordered to unleash. As the old cliché goes "war is Devil" My hat goes off to all those who have served and my deepest gratitude goes to those who have been killed or injured in action.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Good Afternoon!

I took a nap after lunch and just woke up, only to find the world covered under a blanket of snow. It´s still coming down, but I don´t mind, as we are stocked up with groceries to last quite some time!

December 7th, 1941 - a day that changed the world. Churchill finally got the US into the war in Europe and let the American airmen take over the dreaded day raids, which "Bomber" Harris had chickened out, due to the heavy toll the Luftwaffe took of the RAF as long as they still had gas. I am not going on an inch further, as my people had been on the receiving end of those raids. My MIL, who endured them as a little child, still has occasional nightmares. She was 6 years old when her house in Essen got hit. It took rescuers three days to dig her out! My FIL was shot at by a pilot of a P-38 when he ran for cover. He was severely wounded and was left to die. He was not even 11 years old then. It is a miracle he survived. What a world this is, in which war is waged against children?

Enough said!

In all of mankind´s history, never a war has been won.

This is the season to remember!

I'll be the bad guy here, but I don't like either of the previous 2 posts. Both are in the political arena. I'm tired of Ulrich always bringing up about how the poor Germans suffered during WWII. Never mentioning the horror & terror inflicted upon millions & millions of others by Germany. Enough is enough.

We don't ban discussion of history here, and too much of history is made up of war. However, I hope everyone can understand how the topic can stir bad memories and hard feelings. Not to mention how it's impossible to separate the subject of war from politics. I'm not going to delete or edit any posts, but let's move on to happier topics.

Good morning ..

I'll chime in briefly. We should follow Steven O's advice, and resolve problems off of the public forum. You may also contact a person with private messages to resolve issues. Each month, the new Diner is started, and we explain the basic rules there. Common sense rule: Avoid controversial discussions.

Each month, the new Diner is started, and we explain the basic rules there. I suggest, we include a reminder at the beginning of the month to resolve problems with other members off of the public forum.

I like each one of the Diners, and don't want to see any of them get ticked off and leave.

Steven O just suggested we move on to happier topics. ... Here are some thought starters.

What are you working on with your model railroad ?

What are your model railroad plans in the weeks ahead ?

Are you planning anything special for the Christmas holidays ?

Have you been railfanning lately and did you see anything interesting ?

Did you see MR has its old slogan (Model Railroading is Fun) back on the cover of the January 2018 issue?

Do you have any good train related videos to share with us ?

What are some of your favorite Model railroad memories ?

...

Happy Model Railroading, everybody ?

Good morning Diners,

Brunhilde, I'll have an extra large coffee with lots of cream, please.

Yes, I did notice,... Well,...actually was informed that "model railroading is fun" is back on the cover.  I think it should be there.  Think of it guys, how many other hobbies teach such a diverse set of skills and have fun doing it at the same time.  Over the years I've applied at various day jobs things I've learned through model railroading.  It truly is a wonderful hobby.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

I am busy packing for the RIT Train Show this weekend.  Will only have to put a couple things in the back of the Volt before I leave for the show.  I'll be cutting cedar shingles to put on a water tower.  I worked on it last year and haven't touched it since then.  I'm a bit behind in several of my projects for the layout.  This winter I hope to spend some time daily getting things accomplished.
