It´s closing in on 10pm here, so time to call it a day and head for the hay! Wow, that even rhymes!

I spent most of the day watching silly movies, so I don´t have to do any thinking. These movies really were silly, but they did the job.

Good Night, Sue Ellen (remember the Waltons?)

Edit: I got top of the page, so whatever the guys are ordering, put it on my tab!

Howdy diners, I'll take one of those brick oven coal fired pizzas and a calzone too. And far as drinks go I'll take a milk.

Well on the railroading front I went to the MSMRC open house today my T-1 did it's usual derailment act and my RSD -15 couldn't haul it's train over the helix without stalling. Otherwise had a fun day and tomorrow Rod is bringing his Triplex for me to run.

Ouch! Embarrassed

Ken, don't look for any decoders in the box. The only three I could find were ALL Broadway Blue-Line. I wouldn't give those to a dog to bury. For now you will have to use your existing decoder. I do have a QSI out of a Walthers E8 but there's no plugs for it. If I can find some plugs I'll send that to you.

I'll be doing some decoder upgrades to Loksound soon and I'll save some BLI decoders for you then.

Can you run Walthers passenger cars on your layout?

I hope the package doesn't get sent to your sister-in-law again!

Thanks for the compliments on my photos, and thanks for picking up my hefty tab, Ulrich Big Smile

Back to the layout where I'm installing a "hill-holder" pin between the rails so I can hold a cut of cars on a grade when I change engines. Been meaning to do it for, oh, twenty-years or so. Just now getting around to it after seeing a thread about it here, recently Whistling

Thoughts and prayers to all for a safe and healthy day!

Thanks for the float Ken!

I don't mind hanging around you old souls as in many ways I am myself.

I maybe 16 but I cannot name a single song or artist from today. I'll have to post a video of my musical talents once I get my band together.

(The dean's motel and pushing broom thing I took from the Dean Martin song King Of The Road.)

I believe that Roger Miller wrote this song and sang it first.

Good morning ..

I also recll the Roger Miller version of King of the Road. ... Dean Martin was, of course, very talented, and I can imagine his version would have been good.

Speaking of songs, I like "The City of New Orleans". I like how John Denver sang it.

I bet some of you also have some favorite RR songs you might want to talk about.

..

Happy Model Railroading.

Good Afternoon!

When I woke up this morning, the outside world was covered with a blanket of wet, white stuff. I love that, providing I don´t have to drive places. At noon, it started to rain and all the glory is gone by now, which is kind of sad.

It´s the first Sunday of Advent and I have switched on the lights on that little tree on my desk. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time - happy for all those fond memories on past Christmas seasons, and sad, because Petra and I will be all alone this year - for the first time. I still wish i could make that dream come true, in which I sse myself sitting in a comfy chair beside the fireplace, with a bunch of grandchildren around me, listening as I read one of the Grimm Brothers tales. I know it+s not going to be, but what is life if you don´t have a dream to cling to?

maxman - I guess we have to get used to not being the coming generation any longer, but the leaving one!

Have a happy day!

Afternoon Diners,

I can't remember I wrote about decorated the Christmas tree. I bought new 20 unit colored lights three days ago. I forgot where I placed the extension cord so the tree has been unlit for two days.

I received my new Bluford Shops transfer caboose in Conrail and New York Central. They looked fascinating.

Good afternoon all.

Flo - I will take a peppermint mocha coffee, and a slice of that nice looking cininimon bread in the back corner booth please. Thanks.

Yep - Asthma issues of late. This stupid head cold ain't helping matters.

Berea - Nice location for the diner! I try the get here at least once a year, for the big Railfest show, but missed this year due to w*^k issues. Last time I was here, I was one of those guys trackside when the NS OCS rolled through. Boy, she sure looked sharp! I just might have to dig up that photo for on here...

Weather - Couple last nice days, then it appears "old man winter" (or should it be "old fart" winter?) will officially make his presence known... Starting Wednesday we have lake effect snow, then plain snow, forecasted for 10 straight days! Hope the diner has the plow ready to roll! (Maybe a local short line will fire up their plow train again... But on my day off this time!)

NWP - Hope you don't take offense to maxman being a little grouchy with his youngsters comment.... He is just a little grumpy in his old age. Wink But he does like us "youngin's" around every now and again. (Yes, there are some of us here under the "old fart" age, like myself sitting just a couple months shy of 32.) [So, seeing as how I'm not an "old fart" yet, would I be a "just getting stale fart"?]

Ulrich- I hear you on the dark way too early part! It's even worse when you have to work during almost all the light hours! Totally ruins the day when you would like to get something done, only to find out you need to strap a flood light onto something to see to do it!

W*^k - Well, had one real nice time the other day... Had a lady bring in the Black Friday flyer this past Friday, looking for one of the Black Friday only special items. Of course, we didn't have it. So, she demanded to speak with whoever was in charge. She was not amused when I said that at that point, she already was. (The store manager is usually off on Fridays, so little me, second longest in the store, takes care of any "issues" that day.) She was even less amused when I informed her that the Black Friday sale was over last Sunday. (Yep... We can all see where this is headed.) She then demanded that I order said item for her. (Her husband at this point was already looking rather embarassed.) Well, no can do, as that item is now sold out. (Boy, when I get on a roll with a customer, I get on a roll!) Not only did we no longer have said item, access to said item is no longer there, as the warehouse that serves our store is also out of them. So, she started getting real upset now, and I, as best as I could, apologized over the fact that it was a Black Friday item, and that, due to demand, we were sold out of it. So, she shot back with a "I am sick of this Black Friday crap!", to which I replied, yes, so am I. She then stormed out the door, with her (now very embarrassed) hubby following behind her, but mouthing "sorry" back at me. (Good thing she didn't see that one!) I just smiled and said "Have a nice day!"

Trains - Not much done at that front of late.

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

Time to retire, but before I do, here is a bit of my favorite music! Sorry, it´s not a train related song!

I am Polish by name, German by ancestry and birth, but Celtic by heart. This type of music makes my blood boil, especially when recorded at the Bannockburn Memorial, site of the Scottish victory in the First War for Scottish Independence in 1314!

G´Night, everyone!

Afternoon Folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf for the moment, please...

Well......  NO, NO, No, No Garry!  John Denver????  Uh-uh!  Nope.  He was too much of a crooner (although I did like many of his songs).  The writer, Arlo Guthrie was the best on "City of New Orleans".  His was even better than the rendition I used to do of the song, and I am an Eastman School Graduate Voice Major (education)! Whistling

Ulrich, I will see you the bagpipers (absolutely beautiful, BTW) and raise you some Irish Step Dancers (Riverdance)!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgGAzBDE454

One of the most fun Sound gigs I ever did was to get the right sound for a group of High School dancers perfoming on stage some Irish Step Dancing.  Took me several tries to get Thee sound!  Both do my Celtic Ancestry Proud, BTW.  I like ethnic music from all over the globe as well.  My favorite units in 8th. grade music were teaching about "World Music", particularly the African part!  Some wild rhymic lessons with that!!!

Oh and a Happy first day of Advent (soon to be the second as the sun is setting here in the Finger Lakes.  I like to observe the old traditions where the seasons are half way done at the solstice and equinoxes and the next day starts at sunset, not midnight.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Sir Madog
[

Sorry, it´s not a train related song!

Do you think they know the Canadian Railroad Trilogy?Laugh

I enjoyed that Ulrich, thanks for posting.

It's a decent day here on the West Coast, currently 8c and dry. (except for my crawlspace) This is going to take a while to clean up and dry out. The house will not look very Christmasy this year. I tend to go a little overboard, as it is where all the celebrations take place. Most of our Christmas stuff was destroyed. On the bright side, we will have less to move in 2019.

Steven, I love crooner music and would really like to hear what you have to offer. Micheal Buble is from here and will often be in the next box at Canuck games along with Bryan Adams.

W5 had a half hour on Gordon Lightfoot last night, what a career he has had. I am a huge fan and lost count of how many dozen times I have seen him. Some years I would go twice. I remember in the early seventies I had Art Garfunkel sitting on my right and Jack Nicholson was next to my Sister on the left. We chatted a fair bit with both. I was fifteen I think and remember my Sister demanding that we wait at the stage door for an autograph. We took an album cover for him to sign and both he and Rick Haines signed it. I still have it today as my Sister didn't want it anymore.

It's #1 sons 19th Birthday today and he is getting tons of people wishing him Happy Birthday on Facebook. I am surprised how many movie/TV people are wishing him Happy Birthday. For just being a lowly extra he sure has made some interesting friends in the biz.

Daughter has been writing on FanFiction for quite a while now and has 148,000 followers. People want her to write a book/story of her own instead of just adding to existing ones. She keeps it all very secretive so we are not sure what she is up to in that department.Hmm

We have a bunch coming for the kids Birthday dinner. We set the Mac up at the end of the table and he joins us from Ottawa. It actually works quite well, I was skeptical the first time we did it, however, we had a good time.

It may be a bit noisy as we have six large dehumidifiers, three pumps and a huge air purifier running, but who cares.

Give Ken a Beer or two on me.

All the best to all.

Brent

Hello and Happy first weekend of December,

I've started listing trains for sale on a certain auction site, as they'll likely sell there a little more easily than other venues. Plus net me a bit better money. Why? I have enough trains, and I'm getting some funds together to pay for a college class next year. Not getting the promotion has inspired me to get an education and look into careers outside human services for the future. I signed up for an Intro to Paralegal studies course starting in January. I've been wanting to go back to school for a few years, but have always put it off for many different reasons.

I am keeping my kitbashed model of PRR 1361 and a majority of my Pennsy models. At my club's open house, I ran my model of PRR 1361 and a few passenger cars. Aside one car jumping track at one spot, I had a good time.

Only the Monkees and maybe Elza Doolittle put two E's in Henry.  Shakespeare did not and neither do I.Big Smile

City of New Orleans is a signature song of Arlo, but the writer was Steve Goodman

OK Arlo did it better.  I saw him live twice, he claimed he taught Janis Joplin Me and Bobby McGee.

Written by Kris Kristopherson and recorded by Jack Elliot, Gordon Lightfoot, Kristopherson, Bill Haley, Sam the Sham, John Morgensen, Janis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dottie West and Grateful Dead.

By gosh!  Big Daddy!!!  You are correct my friend.  You know I learn something I didn't know before every day.....  I always had thought it was an Arlo original.  Welp!  Mea Culpa.....

 Eveing Diners

Flo, Ed, Gary, Inch, Brent, Jan and Dean, Ulrich, Galaxy, Angelob, Ray, Mr B and I will have a cold Beer and give NWP and Rick a Root Beer Float.

Work Front? Whistling Well this is a new one, Nancy brought a friend to work with her today? Nothing like listening to 2 70 plus year old ladys talking about will's, living trust, health problems and such. Sigh  At one point Nancy was going to make a run to get some drinks and asked me if I wanted a Soda her treat. Told her no, I was fine. She pushed me a little more about it being her treat. I was kidding when I said I take a Beer before she left. I will be damed, she brought me back a Bud Lite?

Ed Never tried a Walther's passanger car. I have tried the Riverossie (sorry about the spelling) and they where junk. I was less skilled when I had them and gave them all to a friend's kidds. Along with some FP 40's. Love to give them a shot if you have no use for them.

Is there a link? And is this a subscription service or a freebe?

It's a subscription service, but they have free cams, and I don't see Berea on that list.  They have been running free stuff onYouTube to promote the service.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules here.  I'm not promoting it, just passing it along.

Evening folks, maxman no offense taken from your youngsters comment I find the things my generation does annoying too... Ken thanks for the float... thankfully I'm home schooled so I don't have to deal with the all that... and bartender give everybody a round of beer... I mean root beer of course. And I'll have a Mountain Valley Spring Water.

On the model railroading front all is well today's open house went well other than a few derailments, traffic jams, and communication breakdowns I would say it was a good day of railroading. Many people seem interested in not only the trains but becoming a member  and perhaps there was more interest than yesterday. Talked to Big Ben and Rod about my AC-12 auxiliary tender idea both agree that I should buy/make a drawbar for the DC extra tender (being that the drawbar is mounted on the locomotive.) then make a wire socket on the back of it with pass thru wires to the front to connect to the locomotive. The original DCC tender gets hooked to the drawbar and it's decoder wire plugged into the DC tenders socket. That way if I don't want to run the second tender I just pull it off the tracks and reconnect the DCC tender to the locomotive.
